44 of 44 · most liked firstThis is a game that deals with the art of balancing. Balancing the budget, the need to compete in space, the need for armed forces, the need for better weapons and so on. Each year you can place three "pips" in various fields (or all in one), and there quite a few places to put those "pips". Do you boost national economy, increase spy gain, increase diplomat gain, increase research in one of three military field, boost funding in one of the two space race fields or increase troop gain? Go too…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is actually really fun and has a lot of potential. All around it is a positive experience, but there is one massive massive flaw. No matter how you play the game, the events trigger randomly which will decide the outcome of the game. You can be on top all game, then one decade just get a little unlucky and lose completely out of your control. A little randomness is ok, but I prefer game-altering RNG out of my grand strategy.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Winning does not seem to be a possibility. I could've sworn I made a review for this already but it seems I haven't. Tried the first one - was disappointed. Tried the second - was still disappointed. There is no fun in this game and the only way to prevent the AI from, within 10 minutes having couped your nation, is to do the most borning asinine micro-managment. All the developers seem to do as well in response to any issue is 'oh, next game definitely'. No offense to them, but...this is the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shoddy graphics, talks about real time or strategy but thats literally only if you want the clock to run down in real time or you want to keep hitting 'next turn'. You have to hold down the right mouse button and drag yourself over to where ever on the map you want to see. I could see this being maybe a couple of bucks but 15$?! Don't waste your money. GO buy literally any Paradox title or even Supreme Ruler cold war. The Game isn't intuitive or fun to play at all.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Arms Race - The Cold War Era is pretty promising with the way game mechanics work and the AI is good. The recommended strategy in the guide section doesn't work reliably for me and I ended up using a different strategy. The AI is also pretty good at adapting to what you are doing. The limited 3 budget changes ends up meaning every decision has long term implications. Most games turn out slightly differently due to the AI choosing different tactics and the randomness of global crisis events.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah it's a fun game, but could do with some developement (though I doubt it will get much, since this was released a year after the original). I say this because it feels like amatures did this, so for example it uses the personal version of unity. But if you can get passed that then it's actually really fun
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR -> DO NOT BUY. Be patient friends, a good cold war game will come along one day. This is the final/full version of this game, and it is awful. Do not buy it please. It's based on the Cold War, which makes for a very exciting premise. Not too many games on the market currently focused on that era of history. Most of the ones that are focused on that era of history are clunky, broken, etc. Closest I've been able to find to something working is via a mod either in Victoria II or with a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It could be the next Twilight Struggle if it was good. It isn't. Don't get it. It's fatally flawed and not worth it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game's concept is very unique. You first start off by choosing to either play as the USSR or USA. From that point on, the game focuses on historical elements of the Cold War by making the player micro-manage between other nations and expanding influence of the USA's or USSR's ideologies. The game is definitely for those who enjoy micro-management similar to the TBS genre (i.e. civilization). The only criticism I can give so far is the lack of in-game tutorials. Other than that the game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to like this game, as the concept was interesting, and while some cold war board games had been good, no good ones for the PC had been developed. Sadly there still aren't any. After playing several play-throughs with different styles, I found that no strategy worked for achieving victory even on the easy level, which is the only level you can play to start. Seemingly no matter which style I tried, the AI not only countered it, but was proceeding on his own play quite well. Despite…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What in the actual ♥♥♥♥. I am unistalling this game until they fix there ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. The words are so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ small, that if my grandma was to play this she couldn't see anything. Do not buy until this is fixxed. This is not worth 20 dollars.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ENG The game was given via curator connect. If you want to see more of our reviews, subscribe: [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/32623253-True-Reviews-English-Edition/] True Reviews English Edition I don't understand how people could like such games. I have nothing against political simulators if they done right. But this is not the case. Pros: - idea. It has no much originality but could be interesting anyway. Neutral: - sound. It's a music from standard libraries, not annoying…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Personally, I liked the concept. This game has great potential. I wish the developers the best of luck.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is terrible. Awful graphics, awful gameplay. There's literally nothing to do. 20 year old games are better than this game. I want my money back.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Would Not buy, Too complicated and can't focus on a country that consistantly has a civil war.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good strategy game, I love the part of the space race. we need more games like this. My congratulations for developers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is broken. There are too many uncontrollables and the keys to winning are random, at best. No matter how I play, no matter the strategy, the AI always seems to runaway with funding, while I go bankrupt (Crisis of the Elites). Global Consequences are alleged to be granted 50/50; however, my experience has been more 70/30 in favor of the AI. This is one of the keys to winning and it is largely uncontrollable. I can start wars over and over again and the AI is still favored.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite an interesting GS game, Very different. The learning curve is a bit intrusive and is made worse by how seemingly simple the UI is but I'll admit it. This game has a surprising amount of depth and doesnt require you to click at the speed of sound like certain other games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not the worst thing I've ever played, but also not the best. It's okay. Price is too high for what your really getting. Overall it's an okay time waster.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good strategy game, I love the part of the space race. we need more games like this. My congratulations for developers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Arms Race - TCWE is the second iteration in "The Cold War Era" series of games while keeping the base mechanics of the game improves on all of them as well as including new ones without feeling as if any of them don't belong. Alina Digital improved AI with four different personalities depending on the president/Premier on top of that and allowed the player to pick four different styles of play, (space race, diplo, warfare, global events) as well as four different individual modifies that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I felt like I was smashing keys and smashing the left click every second. Still needs work! If you want a good hand work out and maybe carpal tunnell this game is for you!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A poor game. The game play is far too basic. Essentailly it is button bashing but on a global scale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not very in depth or very rewqrding. You dont understand what is happening half the time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Horrible game, I wish I could refund. the game is completely based on random events and player doesn't have any control. I wouldn't call this game a strategy game because there is nothing strategic about random events changing a winning game play upside down to a losing one. Don't waste your money on this game even if it's on sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a fun little game which plays a complete run in about 2-3 hours. It runs through the whole of the cold war and includes extensive historical detail and research - history geerks will enjoy looking through the tech trees and space race just reading some of the interesting commentary. The game itself is primarily about resource allocation - the resources being influence (generated by diplomats) spies, and military. These three resources allow you to control the board through a variety…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's very rare we have a cold war grand strategy game. I'm loving this so far, I think we need to support the devs as much as possible and buy this game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Arms Race is a reimagining of the original The Cold War Era which are both developed and published by Alina Digital. Arms Race has taken the approach of improving upon the existing IP with brand new features and taking in a lot of the concerns of the previous title. In this new edition, expect to find new features like the global consequences which are events based upon real world versions; however each consequence can be won by the US or the USSR to take the glory compared to the real life…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is excellent. Fans of strategies are required to pass. The sound is excellent.the gameplay is quite simple but interesting
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great game for the cold war era
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its is a good strategy game for the cold war but the game for me tends to crash and could use a bettxer tutorial
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent! One of the best Cold War games around!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoy this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is a little rudimentary, but the design and balance have been done very well. I bought this game on sale, but I feel like it is worth full price. I have continued to come back and play a few rounds every year or so.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hate this game. I love this game. Damn this game. Frustration to the point of being fun. Buy it but be prepared to lose hair, sleep, sense and time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a Good Game so a easy version of Crisis of the Kremlin i Like it but you have to be Flexible in mind for such Game don´t be Ignorant!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm old enought to say this is great Cold War game !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed this game very much. Very simple gameplay and extremely deep historical touch. True grand strategy game. Very recommended!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very weird game but I like it. It has a huge lack of diplomacy despite how the game is technically all about shadow politics. But basically the game has a lot of plates to be balancing at once. You have balance the space race, arms race, country popularity and try to destabilize foreign powers. That's probably the best aspect of this game. It's the micromanagement of many very important segments of the game. Update 18Jan2019: Somehow this game has gotten worse. Right from the beginning when…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hey, whose side are you on tonight? :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A turn-based strategy that clouded my mind ^^ minimum clicks, maximum fun I can't rank Arms Race - TCWE among the best games of this genre, but it was an unusual experience for me. "What are you willing to do to win?" You are immersed in the unique history of the time. it's very atmospheric. Surveillance? Okay. Learn the essence of the cold war. Brrrr.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game's random event mechanic is too OP and destroys any strategy elements.
