I remember quite with nostalgia when i used to pass playing games like those on the internet free games around like Steppenwolf X Creatures Project. If you kinda enjoy the old first prince of persia game vibes, you're gonna enjoy this ride through another world!

It's longevity is not due the gameplay, the story, the graphics or the music, it's about the atmosphere and the experience. From the amazing intro all the way to the end of Lester's, or dare I say the player's, journey in this alien world this is one hell of a ride. And don't dismiss these words as just a rambling of a fan boy, Hideo Kojima (of Metal Gear Solid fame), Fumito Ueda (Ico) and Goichi Suda (Killer 7, No More…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If I had to choose just one, my all-time favorite game, without hesitation, I would say it's Another World by Eric Chahi. It's my favorite game from childhood and my favorite game forever. It's simply a masterpiece. However, with great regret, I cannot recommend it in its current state on Steam, because it's just buggy. I don't know what happened - I'm almost certain I saw it on Steam a long time ago, and back then, the game worked perfectly. Unfortunately, in its current state, it cannot be…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved this game when I was a kid. Unfortunately it does NOT work on Steam Deck despite being tagged as Steam Deck verified. Whenever I try to load a game (I can get to the start menu fine) it crashes back to the Steam OS. I posted this issue a year ago and lots of people have reported the same issue (just check the Steam forums for this). There has been no fix.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This beautiful game was released in November 1991, the same month and year I was released. While I've changed over the past three decades, this game stays the same. Sometimes it seems like a thing can change just because its surroundings change. Someday I'll be gone, and it will still be here. It's a really lovely little thing. It's difficult and funny. It reminds me to not be stuck in my ways, and to not stick too closely to the formula, because you never know what the formula will be 30…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another World is an old game that received a restyle with this new remastered 20th Anniversary Edition, if one should judge this game now, in 2023, probably would see it as nothing special considering the age of games we're living now, but,if we go search, we'll discover that the game was originally released in 1991, so, considering that i grow up with games like this one and that, at the time, this was considered one of best games ever released till that point, being very innovative and having…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →my dad bought this game on the switch years ago but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nintendo removed it for some reason so we lost at least 15 dollars. anyways i have lots of good memories from that game and playing it again was really fun, especially dying constantly in the same stupid ways. Its a great game where lack of attention is what costs you most and you learn from your mistakes, and the odd vibe is still something that draws me in everytime i look at it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even more awesome than it was back in the 90's. You now have more options: remastered / original sounds and music, remastered / original graphics, save points, and keyboard / gamepad, and of course achievements. All works perfectly in Windows 10 / 11.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a child I never beat this game. I'm aware if you know all the solutions within the game it would take less than 15 mins to beat this game. As an adult this was worth $10 to me. Finally beating a game (found out I was only 30 seconds away from beating it as a child after I beat it today) I never completed before. Did it in an hour as well. Glad I got to relive the experience. Now time to watch a speedrunner do this in 6 mins.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Blast from the past!! 25+ years later and I finally get to finish the game that I started.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Сделал ремастер? Чел, харош, как насчёт сделать отдельные кнопки для бега и выстрела, а также убрать идиотскую задержку ввода? Кусок кривого кaлa, увы. Поностальгировать не вышло.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The classic PC game from the chipped stone era of gaming is here, LOL. It runs alright and both the remastered graphics as the soundtrack adds a nice flavor to the experience. The gameplay feels a bit clunky when played nowadays but that's exactly how it was back in the day. If you've never tried it before, just test yourself to make as far as you can without checking any online walkthroughs, like we did in the old days, only resort to them if you get really stuck. Enjoy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this game when it was new, because I'm old. Upon rediscovering it, I see why I love Dark Souls and Bloodborne so much. Though of course much more rudimentary, the sense of the unknown, and of learning by doing and failing, is very much present in all three games. Though the controls can be a little clunky, I would still highly recommend this game if you like a sense of challenge and discovery. R It's a classic for very good reason.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played through this game as a homework project for a class. I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into with this game but it was an interesting experience. I had to look up playthroughs in order to complete the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another World or "Out of This World" (US name that I knew it as) is a wonderful, immersive adventure. Everything about it takes you back to a time when a game needed more than cutting-edge graphics to be good. It's got action, adventure, variety, puzzles... everything about this port is GREAT. The only infuriating / negative thing is: The soundtrack is missing! This version doesn't have the emotive soundtrack of the SNES release (the Evercade version doesn't have it either, I just found out).…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →THIS WAS THE 1ST EVER PC GAME I SAW AS A KID AT RADIO SHACK AT THE MALL!!! IT WAS CALLED OUT OF THIS WORLD AND I LOVED BEATING THE GAME! THIS GAME GAVE ME THE DESIRE AND DRIVE TO BE A PC GAMER LATER IN LIFE EVEN THOUGH I FINALLY PLAYED AND BEAT THIS GAME ON SUPER NINTENDO! GET IT ITS AMAZING AS A TRUE RETRO!!! 1991 WAS A CRAZY FUN YEAR!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another World arrived in my life before I even knew what to call the feeling it produced. At the end of 1991, I was at my friend Alan Hummel’s house when he showed me, along with another friend, the demo of the Amiga version of Eric Chahi’s Another World. From the very first seconds, we were floored. The graphics felt impossibly fluid, cinematic in a way videogames simply were not supposed to be back then. The sound design, sparse and precise, gave weight to every moment. That opening sequence…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Out of This World without its music is like... well, Out of This World without its music. For some this port will cut it, but for others, this is not the correct experience. "B-b-but the author said-" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Death_of_the_Author
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's impossible to image that someone would create a game like this in 1991. The graphics still nice and animations too. This game has better cutscenes than some Ubisoft games
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sole designer, programmer, and artist for Another World Éric Chahi stated that he designed the levels of Another World randomly. If this is indeed the case, then I profess him a genius. If one were to propose a checklist of all that games should aspire to achieve, I venture that no game would fare a better chance of ticking all of the boxes than another world. Without spilling the proverbial beans, its narrative is beautiful, and is told only through the context of the medium. No words are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →absolute classic – what’s not to love. Played it on my Amiga 500, played it on PC, played it on my Steam Deck. You will hate some (frustrating) parts of the game. But all in all it’s a good part of gaming history worth a play ♥️🔥
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played a lot of games that give me nostalgia, but none are compared to this one. Born in the 2000's, I remember playing this when I was 6, and since then I searched everywhere for this title, not knowing that it was right here on steam. Absolutely gorgeous visuals (love the HD to original option), the "figure it out by yourself" gameplay (because the game does not help you at all), and the adition of a ton of nostalgia. It's a bit short, but it's balanced with the many tries you have do…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played on Amiga500 about 30 years ago. It was by far the best game then. Event today it's amazing. It a true gem, like the games Full Throttle or Day Of The Tentacle. Great atmosphere and high res graphics adaptation. Works on LINUX, MAC and PC.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another World is a truly captivating game with a unique art style and atmosphere laced with a feeling of isolation and unease. It is beautifully animated using rotoscoping technique, similar to the Prince of Persia games. The game really doesn't hold your hand at all, and checking the controls in the 20th anniversary version or a manual for older versions is a must so you don't skip crucial parts on how to control your character. It still holds up well to this day, and the whole game feels a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Doesn't work on Steam Deck, doesn't support 4k monitors, stuck at 12fps, hardest game ever made.... but still worth playing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, a classic I've been playing for decades. As good as this version is, it has one big miss, and that's the soundtrack. For some reason it's missing the music that is available on Sega CD, 3DO, PS Vita, PS3, and PS4. But not here on PC. I doubt they'll ever patch it in, even though it exists literally everywhere else, so I'd recommend those versions instead. I know the original didn't have music, but the original composer did come back to make those, so it's worth it and they add…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →OMG One of my favorite games ever! I still remember how I felt the first time I played it as a teenager. There is just something so unique about this game...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was as good of a game as i remember from when i was a kid, i played it when it originally came out but never beat it as a kid. Puzzles were much easier now as an adult. If you have never played it and like old games from the early 90's its worth getting, A little bit of a brain scratch-er but most of the puzzles and order of operations is easy to eventually figure out. You will only get about 2-5 hours of gameplay out of it unless you just want to do some deathless challenges or something…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What an amazing little game. I have not heard about this game before so i was shocked when i found out that it was originally released in 1991. Amazing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The most atrocious thing I've played in decades. It's all about the gameplay which is masochistic trial & error. This had to be an awful game back in the 90s.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This has been a favorite game of mine since I played the SNES version. The feeling of being disconnected in a mostly lonely and alien atmosphere, all while attempting to fumble your way through survival with ideas and guesswork feels relatable. The art style opens imagination with it's shadowed beasts and imperfect shapes as you explore your surroundings, where the only clear goal is to keep moving.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Childhood favorite, i'm 31 now i'm glad I took the time to beat it and claim all the achievements. This game kicked my A$$ as a kid and now as an adult. Feeling accomplished figured I would leave a review.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The epitome of "ahead of its time" trope.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another World - 20th Anniversary Edition was my first point-and-click adventure, and it was a revelation. The game's silent story is surprisingly enthralling, pulling you into its mysterious and atmospheric world without uttering a word. The stunningly remastered visuals and captivating, minimalist storytelling make every moment memorable. The puzzles are challenging but rewarding, and the sense of isolation and discovery is palpable throughout. This game is a timeless classic that proves…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very nice game that I like very much. It is very good. Thank you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this game on the super Nintendo and it was fun/frustrating at the same time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →absolute classic, had to be replayed, wish OG Prince of Persia would show up on steam as well
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Timeless. A landmark title in video game storytelling and one of my favorite games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I still have the original boxed copy of this game from 30 years ago. The whole thing fit on a single 3.5" 1.44 MB floppy disk... I'm not sure what younger audiences will think of it this game, but for me; it was like magic before I even installed it. Make sure to watch the included documentary!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A classic. It's hard to figure out the puzzles at times, and the sometimes random placement of enemies can be frustrating but I still enjoyed as much as I did when it first came out. The control scheme makes some parts difficult. The frequent check point saves are very much appreciated. It is a very short game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another World proves that great storytelling doesn't need long conversations or endless cutscenes. After a scientific experiment goes horribly wrong, you're thrown into a mysterious alien world where everything is trying to kill you. The game tells its story almost entirely through animation, atmosphere, and environmental design, making every discovery feel meaningful. ⚡🛸 The cinematic presentation was years ahead of its time. Smooth animations, minimalist visuals, and almost no dialogue…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game that created the cinematique platformer genre, or at least popularized it. Another World (or Out of this world in USA), is just one incredible experiment that was unrivaled back then. You play as Lester, a scientist who portals himself to an alien world. The game is exploring and escaping from all the hazards and enemies that get in your way, while trying to understand the alien technology. The visuals are painted vectors, giving a very unique atmosphere in an age where everything…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a game that I can't even bring myself to finish playing. I played around two-thirds of the game, up until after I flooded the caves, before I decided that it definitely wasn't worth it. The art is crisp and clear, but that is about the only good thing about the game. I was first attracted to the game because of the hostile alien world setting, but the world turned out to be bizarre and boring. Really, the whole story, atmosphere, and pacing leaves a lot to be desired. For a remake,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Masterpiece 35 years ago, and a masterpiece today.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even though Another World is one of the classics charging ~10€ for about 2h long game with junky controls can't be justified, that's why I don't recommend it. Story is short unique and quite difficult (partly because of how controls are implemented and unresponsive), there is a nice option to switch between new and old graphics version, so we see how it looked like in the original - which surprisingly isn't that bad.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I believe that it was a good game back then, but since this is a remaster, the control and input handling definitely shouldn't be this frustrating. I am not talking about the game itself being hard, frustrating, or relying on trial and error. I totally get that this is usual for older games. However, the input feels very laggy and delayed. Certain keys often fail to register. For example, jumping is inconsistent when you're pressing other keys in a specific sequence. Since the game requires…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game terrified me as a kid on the SNES. Worms with spikes, floor monsters with spikes, holes in the floor with spikes. Playing again almost 30 years later, I finally beat it but I still hate spikes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →[★★★★] FOUR STARS Wonderful game! Basic 4-way directional input and a single action button are all you need to have a good, well-controlling experience. The rest is owed to the excellent faux-rotoscoped animation and storytelling that rivals some of the best silent films of early Hollywood. The only charge I could bring against Another World would be that the difficulty and reliance on memorizing sequences of events was not adopted by the game industry writ large, and for good reason. Still,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overview Fun little piece of gaming history. The animation holds up pretty well and the game doesn’t feel as old as it actually is. The difficulty is mostly trial-and-error until you memorize each section, which can definitely be frustrating at parts, especially when there can be a good amount of space in between checkpoints. Steam Deck I played this entirely on Steam Deck. There’s a weird issue with the menu where if you try to start a game with the controller it goes to a black screen and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Revolutionarily mixed action / platformer gameplay with point n' click adventure elements. The protagonist controls like he's in a (cinematic) platformer, but you spend most of your time and effort solving a series of one-time puzzles, much like a point n' click. I suspect a lot of later games, like Limbo, Inside, Somerville, and Eternal Castle, are all direct descendants of this game. And a perfect title, really makes you feel like you're being transported to another world.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game when it came out. This game and Flashback were fun to play.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good. Though they need to remaster the sequel, Heart of the Alien.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Highly recommended. A timeless classic game from the good old times (no loot boxes, no DLC, no season pass, no payable cosmetics, no woke or right wing agenda, no shareholder influence, etc.) with updated graphics.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Look, for a solo effort by a developer over 30 years ago it is impressive, I'll give it that much. As a way to spend your money and time? I can't really recommend it. The puzzles and direction feel completely random, and at times spiteful; sometimes it seems like you were meant to know you'd been going the wrong way, because the checkpoint is way far back. But other times the checkpoints are just spread very far apart for no reason. Nearly every obstacle feels like trial and error, in a game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun at first, but then the puzzles wear on you.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A timeless classic. Even without the nostalgia of playing it on the Mega Drive, it's clear how groundbreaking this game was for 1991. Its cinematic storytelling and unique art style are still impressive today. Plus, it's a satisfying 100% for achievement hunters!
