I'd love this game if the story wasn't voiced by AI, it pulls me out of the immersion and makes the game less enjoyable as a whole. Also the rooms you unlock from leveling early on can barely be used for anything, they have almost no space. I'm playing this game coop with my girlfriend and even now it feels like we are barely keeping up with the upkeep and we only have 2 tables.

This was fun near the beginning, but a lot of the quests got very repetitive. There's also not an automation system to prep food. This is most obvious when picky "special" guests arrive and want things you can technically make but don't have the supplies for and thus don't have on your menu, so it can be really frustrating to accommodate for them unless you want to fill almost every last space you have with back-to-back ovens/grills/stoves. I did play solo, so that likely didn't help, but much…

AI doesn't really bother me that much, but the fact that the game *does not* notify you on the steam page that it uses AI is scummy.

While fairly enjoyable when playing with a friend, there are many issues with this game. Quests range from boring to irritating and I strongly suspect generative ai was used in writing or dialogue or both. The lack of credits given to any voice actors lends some credence to this. Even if it isn't ai, the dialogue is often nonsensical, unfunny, and voiced by the most stilted voice actors you've ever heard. The gameplay is basically the same for several hours until you finally unlock the inn…

This game is an absolute gem, and before I even talk about the gameplay, I want to address something that is really getting to me. The accusations about the developers using AI are honestly frustrating to watch. People are making claims with no proof, while completely ignoring the fact that the developers have repeatedly and transparently provided proof that they do NOT use AI. Their responses get buried in discussion threads, and then more people pile on with assumptions that make the devs…

Ale & Tale Tavern isn't really a BAD game. I like multiple things about it including the addition of exploring outside the tavern and combat. If this was the only tavern/inn simulator game then it would be... fine. I'm writing this after only a few hours of play and though I'm disappointed and frustrated with it already, I will play it a little while longer, because again this isn't AWFUL. The issue is that there are multiple tavern themed simulator games on the market and ALL of the ones I've…

On paper, this game has an incredible concept. The idea of splitting your time between running an inn and heading out to explore, scavenge, and progress through the world is exactly what drew me in. That balance, management paired with adventure, sounds like it should be the heart of the experience. Unfortunately, in practice, the systems don’t quite support that vision yet, especially for solo play. Right now, the game falls into a very repetitive loop. You buy food items so you can craft…

Really fun game overall. Pretty relaxing concept. I would like to make a suggestion for a future update though. Since there are owls to serve customers and owls that clean up, I was getting a bit overwhelmed with having to cook everything as well as gather ingredients, what I'm trying to say is that I think there should be a chef owl and little accessories for the owls. But overall that's the only thing I would change about it! Hope this helps!

I really love this game! The dialogue is funny and the missions are full of great story line. I would love to see more updates! Obviously game development/making is pretty hard, but I would love to see some of these things: - Being able to visit the king/kingdom - Stacking chests - More guests rooms - More decor/paintings/furniture - Even having precise placement for furniture would be cool Keep up the great work!

The game has good bones but that's it. It is only bones. It has a combat system, but its not good. it has animations, they're not good. It has progression, its OK not good. Save for the designs everything is just barebones and OK at best. I do appreciate the map and the art style, but theres a long way to go. It needs a lot of polish.

It was a great idea that could have combined medieval themes with simulation, but with unnecessarily annoying monsters, bad combat mechanics, and gameplay that becomes monotonous way too quickly, my friend and I couldn’t find anything else to do after just three hours and had to quit the game. I would understand if it were a newly released early access game, but this is definitely not the performance I would expect from any game’s full version.

It is ultimately a game of a dozen underbaked mechanics taped together and lacks the polish I was hoping for in a fully released game. The voice acting is bizarre and the writing feels like it was done with AI.

So I'm a bit conflicted on how I feel about this. It's not a *bad* game per se as I had some fun with it, but it's also certainly not a good game. It has a bunch of different components, but none of it feels particularly well thought-out and some of the systems are tedious or seemingly randomly tacked on. On paper the game has a fair few things to do, even a story of sorts. But in practice all of this falls flat. Cooking is just gathering materials and waiting for timers, combat is... just…

While a really fun game with some fun game mechanics, it's even more fun while playing with friends. Especially when things are getting chaotic and you get to shout at your friends with little to no repercussions. However, the AI voice acting is a big drawback, as I hate AI in all its way, shapes, and forms. Will not recommend until you pay voice actors or do it yourself.

"I'm going to give it the thumbs up." What starts as a simple endorsement quickly unpacks into a complex, yet enthusiastic, take on a very nice game that offers a fantastic core experience but struggles with some deeply frustrating quality-of-life (QOL) issues. At its heart, this game has a lot going for it. The learning curve is surprisingly easy to get your head around once you wrap your mind around the core mechanics. It’s accessible, which is a huge win in a market filled with overly…

Ale & Tale Tavern is a complete joke in the early game. Running the tavern barely makes any money, and most of my income comes from selling chickens, pigs, and doing stupid quests. Managing the tavern is so tedious and unrewarding that it feels like a garbage game inside another garbage game. Side quests constantly send you across the map to kill random monsters, and the enemy spawn rate is so ridiculously low that it honestly feels like the game intentionally lowers it the moment you accept…

I was wrong about AI in Ale & Tale Tavern. I previously wrote a review about how there was AI in the game and it wasn't labeled. Someone commented though and made me question my observation. I did some research, saw a community post with the Dev's comments and voice actors for their NPC's. I said if I was proven wrong, I would change my review, and I meant it. Even though I suspected AI for the NPC voices, I did still enjoy this game with that in mind. It's satisfying, it's got good flow, and…

A Wonderful game, If a little short. We played with 4 of us and I found that around 8-12 hours we had run out of things to do besides running the tavern. There wasn't really a reason to go out and gather stuff outside of making dishes, but there wasn't much of a reason to go out to gather items needed to make the most expensive dishes either. The quests had run out and there wasn't much of an incentive to keep playing. Not to say we didn't enjoy our time because we did, I just wish it was…

The art direction is pretty decent with the exception of human models. The tech behind it seems dated, but most of the models and textures are pretty well done. However, everything else about the game is just sloppy and lazily made. Just because it's a working sim, doesn't mean you can get away with putting in zero effort. I don't want to imagine what the added "dungeon crawling" is like as the game doesn't seem capable of much more that "click to attack" In a crowded market full of better…

I want to start this by saying I enjoyed 80% of the game, and I would recommend buying it when it’s on sale (as of now it’s on sale for $6). I put just about 20 hours in the game and up until hour 18, I was having a blast. This game does not hold your hand which is sometimes very frustrating when you have no idea what something is for or how something works, but it also makes it clear that you can play your way. I mostly play solo. I've somehow racked up 246.2 hours since August. The Dungeon Fast update has only just come out so I can't really speak to the changes, but pre update I'd say the combat is easy apart from the bosses (there are two in the game before the update and they give you items but you can still play without fighting them). In terms of exploration the map is pretty small. In terms of customisation you can paint the walls, choose where the furniture goes, place paintings, rugs and…

I liked my time with the game but the issue it has is that it's just not balanced for solo players. There is way too much to do for one person and I didn't get any option to hire people to help out in the less than 2 hours I played. If you've got even one other person to play it with, I can see you enjoying it. If you're a solo player looking for a chill experience this is not it.

Chill and casual game with a lot of recipes to prepare along ingredients to gather, you will spend most of your time preparing to open the tavern and do a dinner rush. It also has some missions with silly side quests which are clearly produced by an AI and also the voice acting is AI which is not neccesarily a bad thing but it eliminates VA jobs and also makes every AI asset used within games look very much alike and is noticeable.

Leveling scaling feels like it needs adjustment. Late levels, I was serving food/drink for a day and I gained 3 levels very quickly. When you unlock items from the merchant and new recipes and new meat types so you won't have the ingredients to make the new recipes. You can select which recipes you want to serve but the VIP customers can order whatever they want. Inventory management also sucks. Good mix of management, cooking, fighting, questing, with a pinch of silliness, and simple yet really nice graphics. I hope they will continue adding new stuff to it (like forest dwellers with quests, recipes, and holiday themed cosmetics), fixing bugs (nothing major noticed so far), and supporting the game in general. It's decently fun and I like the visual style, but having essentially reached the end, it still feels kind of half baked. Controls - Controls are little basic. They're mostly fine but at times can feel clunky during combat, and unrefined during some inventory management. They get the job done though. It is painful to listen to and the quest conversations are repetitive and way too long. Even the style is a ripoff from Warcraft and I swear some of the textures I have literally seen while playing WoW. Add some generic assets from the usual stores and throw a dash of gen AI in the mix and you get a half-baked game that feels kinda low effort, weirdly hollow and soulless.
