Banner Saga-style grandiose character-driven story. Invisible, Inc.-style stealth-tactics gameplay. Darkest Dungeon-style character rotation. Expeditions series-style camping + global economy. In other words, it's its own bloody thing! The user reviews I've seen dwell so much on the similarities with particular games those users know, they completely…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quick: 2/5. Great artwork and a great story-line are tainted with absent-minded and randomized game-play mechanics, and unbalanced tactics style combat. This is a game that I wanted to give a perfect score. However, at every turn, the combat's non-intuitive and broken mechanics stop that from happening. There is so much to love about this game. However... there is just as much to make you say out-loud... "Why would you put that in the game?". More is less when it comes to Alder's Blood.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(Posting this review at 3 hours played mark) Came in expecting a Darkest Dungeon meets XCom type of game, but I'm sad to say I found an unfinished, buggy mess that wasn't sure what it wanted to be. Interesting premise and great atmosphere, however the gameplay is rather stagnant as you face the same rather uninteresting types of enemies over and over again. The mechanics are unclear as well, the game doesn't do well to explain what exactly activates enemies - they will either wander…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →🎤Introduction Alder’s Blood is a brutally difficult turned based RPG set in a grim and dark world where beasts roam free and terrorize the land. Its mechanics are based on XCOM but with a lot more emphasis on stealth. If you're expecting to get through this game with brute force then you have another thing coming. Like any game it has some flaws, but the majority of them can be overlooked due to how incredible this game is. ✔️Pros • XCOM styled combat with complex and unique mechanics •…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was a supporter for the original Alder's Blood Kickstarter which ended up falling through. The original game was pitched to be a combination of XCOM and Bloodborne, two of my favorite games. Although that fell through I was more than happy to support the new Alder's Blood, now Western themed instead. Thus it is with a heavy heart that I cannot recommend this game. In some ways it is not even as good as the demo they released for the original Alder's Blood. At least in that demo there were…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It seem like a beta version of an interesting game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great art that pulls attention away from some really horrid design choices. I mustered through many weird decisions, including missions without objectives, hard-to-read-maps with invisible dead ends and terribly animated characters that made it to the final product alongside the fantastic 2d artwork, but releasing a game with bugged save system that throws a wrench in you trying to play despite the problems is a dealbreaker for me. I don't think this can be repaired, cause fixing the main…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Alder's Blood: Definitive Edition unleashes a relentless horror experience that will test your strategic prowess amidst a nightmarish world. The atmospheric design and haunting soundtrack plunge you into a realm of terror, while the turn-based combat system keeps you on edge with every move. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3096193990 The gripping narrative, enriched with a dark and foreboding lore, propels you through a twisted journey that transcends conventional…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent game, lackluster ending, get it on sale for like 10 bucks. Buy hunters that have 3 scent, 45 stamina, at least 7 movement speed. Avoid guns which have the firearm penalty as they make your scent trail longer. buy two scent reducing trinkets and two stamina increasing trinkets per hunter and you be able to beat levels with ease.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not far into the game but I like it so far. X-com meets darkest dungeon + a very dope aesthetic.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like this game, but unfortunately I can't recommend it because of game breaking bugs. My 7 hours with the game came to an end when I reached a fight where no matter what I did, the enemy would not act on their turn. I also encountered another game breaking bug before that where I was unable to change the weapons on my party. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like the developers are releasing updates any longer either. It’s a shame, because the stealth tactics game play is great and the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good idea and great atmosphere meet poor interface and boring gameplay.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm still in the early portion of the game, so I'll try to avoid revealing the depth of my ignorance. Nevertheless, I will do my best to describe my experience and why I have chosen to recommend this game. A strategy RPG, Alder's Blood brings a mix of stealth and turn-based gameplay that draws you in and demands that you think ahead. Your foes may have the numbers advantage, but you...you have hunters. And your hunters have YOU. Guide them in combat against monsters that threaten humanity,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has very, very unique setting I enjoy pretty much. I have played prologue, and knew I will buy that one immediatelly. Dev's are super nice guys and they deserve every support!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great aesthetic, interesting game mechanics and lots of potential. Cant wait to see how it evolves.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good game. The focus on stealth differentiates it from other turn based combat games. The story is also interesting. Here is some gameplay for those curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evd8uyH4Up8
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay so let's start with what I love about this game: -The Art style: Amazing, really sets up the atmosphere for this game. There is very little if not nothing I would change about the way this game looks. -The Bounty Hunter Concept: Honestly, I love games that have this "Hunter" concept with the player characters. When done right it's amazing. That being paired with this world exploration idea makes things interesting, however the exploration is not something I like about this game and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This review might be out of date, the developers replied to my critique in a kind and helpful fashion. I am going to replay this game again. So, this might not be representative with the release of the "Definite Edition" With much delight, I bought Alder's Blood on release. Initially, I very much aware that this might be a game that needs more time in the oven but it looked pretty promising due to the gameplay and amazing art style. I had some very intense and long gameplay sessions which left…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game play may be similar to others, but the setting and art work is outstanding. A must play if you loved Darkest Dungeon.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Immersive setting? Check. Enjoyable stealthy combat? Check. Beautiful visuals? Check. Enemies that can smell your unwashed socks? Check. Sacrificing your worn out, collapsing heroes? Check. I'm having a good time here.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this, I really did, but I cannot in good conscience recommend it in it's current state. Originally a Kickstarter backer, I was hyped after playing the demo. I am however sad to say that the demo/prologue/tutorial is the best quality the game has to offer. The game LOOKS amazing. The graphics are top-notch and character design is ominous and foreboding. But sadly, it's like eating a gorgeous looking triple-layer cake and realizing it tastes like nothing. Here's my…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a funky game, the art and style are top notch, but there is no substance. The missions are really lame and basically require you walk from grass patch to grass patch without being smelled. The game constantly punishes you for killing enemies, as such they are basically used like walking obstacles. doesn't work as a turn based rpg, and doesn't work as a resource management game. If you like turn based rpgs, nab Underrail or the og fallouts, if you like management, Darkest dungeon is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An insanely beautiful tactical game with a heavy Bloodborne vibe but even better art direction, colorful yet horrifying — what's not to like? The clunky and shallow combat, apparently. Or maybe it's the encounter design, as the systems do seem to be in place: you can fight, hide, avoid being tracked, attack in ranged in melee, use consumables... yet somehow none of the first encounters felt engaging at all. And when I saw the crafting treadmill as the game's meta, I decided not to bother…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A real treat for people who love tactical turn based games. The game grips you with its dark and moody aesthetic, and together with interesting mechanics makes for a great experience. Game offers a great resource management challenge, but what I found the most interesting was the management of the most precious resource there is - a human life. You'll quickly learn not to get attached to your heroes and accept the inevitable corruption of their mids. Would recommend everyone who enjoyed Xcom…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Alders Blood" has a very interesting premise and setting: A grimdark victorian-era post-apocalypse, in which god has died and its death caused a vile corruption that seeps through the land. You play as a bandleader of outcast hunters - hunters with supernatural abilities that help them battling the numerous beasts romaing the land but make them also susceptible to corruption itself. The gameplay revolves around the overworld travels of your misfit band, meeting the numerous factions,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really not much to this game. After a couple of hours playing I realized there really is no depth, and every stealth mission can be cheesed in the same fashion. The art style is amazing but I wouldn't say it's worth picking up over.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Full disclosure: I backed this on Kickstarter. I really wanted to like this, with the cross between the tactical combat of XCOM with the Eldritch monsters of Bloodborne. Sadly, the combat and stealth are unfair to the point of being nearly broken, enemies can spawn on top of your characters, and after the halfway point most missions are a slog due to the horde of enemies you fight. Then there's the save system that's broken. Loading an autosave messes up all the other autosaves, whilst…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game gets a lot of crap in reviews (here and on other sites), and I feel like a lot of it is not deserved. The important thing to keep in mind when playing Alder's Blood is that it is a tactical STEALTH game. Your objective is not to mow down every enemy you see. Doing so will only make things harder for you over time. That being said, I've seen multiple reviews that suggest that given the mechanics of the game, that you "cycle through characters" and all your characters are "doomed", so…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Follow our curator for similar games https://store.steampowered.com/curator/35180752-3-point-play/ Darkest Dungeon feel + Mutant Year Zero gameplay + art = TBS stealth combat with interesting smell mechanic. Manage team, resources, crafting, camping, and quests. Backstab and banish enemies.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game art looks good (Darkest Dungeon style) but don't be fooled: there's no tactics here. Game mechanics are simple and boring. If you're looking for Banner Saga like combat - you should look elsewhere. Combat here is more like puzzle. Not tactics at all. This game is empty. Not sure about the story cause I couldn't finish it being bored too much but the dialogues are far from good writing and you've got NO choice. If you're looking for a game where "choices matter" than this game is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tedious... To their credit the game devs tried something a little different with this game, but as anyone who's tried pickle flavoured ice cream will tell you: "Different isn't always good". The game can best be described as a stealth focused turn-based -tactics, squad management game. The problem is it doesn't do any of those things well, but more frustratingly you can always see where it could have been great with just a little more polish. The stealth aspect is the key thing and to be…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I refunded it. Demo was interesting, but I thought it was very limited because it was just a prelude and to flesh out the story. Turns out the full game experience is just like the demo. I expected much more. The stealth focused tactics really make every encounter feel the same because there's only one "proper" way to play.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No its not perfect in its current form, but it still a fantastic game with a really great art-style and intriguing story. In my opinion these two factors outweigh the few game-play issues that might still be there. This does not have the flawless polish of some tipple A games, but its properly priced and I recommend it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like Alder's Blood - thick, Lovecraftian atmosphere, mixed with a bit of Western feel (but, for the most part, wearing Bloodborne's Gothic/Victorian influence on its sleeve), pretty commendable lore, worldbuilding and story, a lot of tactical options (on paper), stellar artstyle... However, the devs (regrettably) just didn't have it in them to stick with the game and address countless issues, be it concerning design choices, balance or numerous bugs that still plague the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i give the game 5/10. I really tried to get into it but just found it boring. Which sucks bc i like these kinds of games. I felt it was lacking direction and i couldnt invest myself into any of the characters.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would like to thank the developers for the game. Interesting story, design, mechanics. I played 12 hours with pleasure and passed the first act. About the bugs - well, feedback from the developers suggests that they probably will be fixed in the near future. Thanks, guys!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is great! I like the graphics, voices, world, story, characters and mood. The fight is pleasant. Team management, camping, traveling can be seen that they are well thought out from beginning to end. Falling into the characters' corruption gives the game a great atmosphere, and the associated madness gives unpredictable effects. I recommend to all X-COM and Darkest Dungeon fans. I also recommend the game to Hunt: Showdown fans, because the game setting and atmosphere are quite similar.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sooooo many bugs...it's hard to tell what is supposed to work and what isn't sometimes. It seems like a good game and to a certain extant it is playable but barely. It might just be resolution issues and scaling making it hard to play but when games have hidden bugs all over the place you have to wonder what else is going wrong and how would I even know if it's working properly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely beautiful game. The game has some really cool mechanics from different game and it does it really well. The story and art is fantastic. Great work from the devs
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nice artwork and story telling ... gonna come back to this often ....
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The concept's good. But do not be fooled, this game is far, very very very far from a completed project. First 3hs or so work about alright tho. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, the amount of bugs in this drove me to leave a review, which I don't normally do - yes, it seems I am one of those. It's not great I know, and yet for a Definitive Edition.. why does this game run like a beta test? Why does inflicting Maimed and preventing melee attacks cause enemies to freeze on their turn as they presumably freak out at being unable to engage in melee? You can just sit by and watch it be there turn endlessly because it's not like the game has seized. The AI simply…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is not a tactical game. It is a stealth game and all missions are repetitive and boring.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i wanted to help stir up some interest in this new indie release from the amazing Shockworks Games. so far it's a 7.5/10. good backstory. Lovecraftian influences. excellent graphical style. fun to play, good tutorial. a few bugs but it's a brand new release. I will write an more in depth review once I put more hours into the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have you read the Painted Man? You should, it drips doom and gloom atmosphere.. and so does this game. The story, which is both extremely - surprisingly really - well put together and written. The design and artwork. The gameplay! It says Hunter on the packaging. And by the Dead God that's what you do. You hunt. Tiptoe from highcover to concealment. Throw a pebble to turn a monster around, a spike trap to make another trip if it comes sniffing. Mind your scent! The wind changed…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I may revisit this at a later time if some of the game balance is flushed out, and will come back after further updates. The good: - Artwork - Scent/sound mechanic - Camping system. The food system seems like just a pacing mechanic, and probably isn't that necessary. The rest is good offering you options to make gear, heal, or gather items. It adds the risk of being jumped and options to counter it. Good idea. The bad: - Monster spawns make no sense. If the quest narrative gave you any…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have known about Alder's Blood for a while but didn't pay much attention. I wanted the game, but it was a ways from release and there were lots of other games on my list that came out sooner. When it did release, I was hearing some different takes on the game. Some people enjoyed it, others were confused and didn't like it's difficulty. As for me, that's why I'm writing this review. Alder's Blood is truly as how the game is promoted. It's X-COM mixed with Bloodborne. With this in mind, it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really liked the setting and atmosphere.I have only experienced one bug (a missing description). I enjoyed the game play a lot. Some people seem to have a hard time adjusting to the way combat/stealth work, but I think it's what sets it apart from other games. I just would like to have an update to increase the number of scenarios/weapons/enemies, would be awesome!.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a real lovecraftian game - you are always at disadvantage and there is a lot of rules to learn. When you begin it you must be ready to read and remember the rules, But after you will be familiar with it beginns real fun. The fealing of doom is continious here, you can feal that the God leaved this world, so be prepared. You can watch some gameplay here: https://youtu.be/QixlsAjyCbA
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting setting with a few unique game mechanics that result in a pretty enjoyable gameplay experience. It is a little rough around the edges, and the corruption mechanic has been controversial among players.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just started playing but it's an instant hit with me. Very unique art style but I find it very appealing. I would describe it as Banner Saga with a Victorian Gothic aesthetic. The game play overall is familiar to fans of squad-based tactical strategy games, yet it contains some interesting and innovative ideas that add interesting tactical choices to consider. Overall I would recommend to anyone who is a fan of the squad-based tactical combat genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a good example of a bad indie game. It just feels so.. unfinished. Throws a ton of mechanics on you without even trying to engage you into WHY you are interested in spending 20 hrs doing so. Graphics are... meh. The art style is good but it is all so bare bones its painful to look at. Overall it feels like someone read Lovecraft, played Darkest Dungeon, Bloodborne and XCOM and decided to make game. Lacking the skill and the resources to build something meaningful on the combination of these…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still buggy and unplayable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Misleading demo and kickstarter hype. The final product is completely different game play loop wise. Technical difficulties abound and now at a point where no loading will complete. I gave the developers the benefit of doubt and had sit sit on the loading screen for several hours, hoping it would actually finish loading. I can only assume deleting all the saves and uninstalling/reinstalling would fix the issue. As the entire appeal for me playing the game itself is no longer even present,…

[url=https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197976091020/recommended/1227260/]Originally I reviewed the free prologue that you can try as a simple demo of sorts before buying the game: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1227260/Alders_Blood_Prologue/ And here are [url=https://youtu.be/6Fbyhu4JaKs]two good quick impressions and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I tried the game, came across a game breaking bug, I asked for help and got ignored. Now I am requesting a refund. Even though the premise is good, I do not recommend this game as of today. It's full with bugs and glitches. Yes, people might say that it's new and the devs are working on it (e.g. a patch is incoming) but some of those bugs could have been avoided if people played the actual finished problem aka playtested it for at least 10 hours. 4 hours in and I wasted two of those working…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nice game with great art style and story. Interesting gameplay concept but a bit rough around the edge
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Stylish weird west, squad-based, tactical game, with a focus on stealth. Fully fleshed out travel, crafting, and gear-up systems.
