Easy to play but has some genuinely challenging rooms. I also found the art and the balloon people especially SUPER CUTE. This game had so many 'different' aspects to it that it was refreshing to play, I had a good time. :D If I there was one thing I would change...I wish there were fewer "Chris is large" jokes, and more nerdy 90s things instead. It's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok so I watched OneyPlays, play this and it actually looked fun. The story is charming, The main character Chris I suppose is alright, some may find him relatable, some may find him annoying, the villains are entertaining, the powerups are fun, they actually make you want to go out of your way to find the extra ones. The overall game is not too long, I beat it in one night, however I am still trying to 100% the game. currently I have this game 98% complete, I need to find one more powerup to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a good platformer with nice graphics. The game also has a good portion of humor. Actually there is nothing negative to tell about Adventures of Chris. Good work. Some gameplay until the first boss: https://youtu.be/cOn_MzRiFNE
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was given a chance to play AoC, Had a blast from the start. The Text was humorous. The Art is Polished, and the combat evolves based on your choices. Would recommend playing on hardest setting for most fun/challenge. If you like old school game mechanics with some new school polish. This is it folks.

Overall Rating - High Quality ★★★★☆ First Impressions I'm not one of those fat acceptance people, but there's not many games built around chunkier figures, making the titular character in the Adventures of Chris (AC) stand out. When…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I discovered this game randomly on YouTube, and I really do hope more people find it. On the face of it, it looks like a simple platformer, with a gimmick of a portly protagonist, and I was a bit worried at first that this would just pick on that element of him. And, well, it does. But it does it in a way that allows the eponymous Chris to rise above it (pun intended), overcoming his own insecurities to become a hero that those around him didn't think he could be. And the platforming is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Already feels like a great game, nice graphics , nice sound, very responsive controls good dialogs quite funny as well. Also this kid reminds me of Chris Farley AF! And that alone already bought me.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very sweet, can I take it to Lapland with me?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My parasocial friend Chris O'Neill told me about this game, it makes me so happy I click my heels together while I spill birthday cake ice cream all over myself and squee in delight. Seriously though, this game is a well thought out and designed platformer with a lot of wacky power-ups and a LIGHT-hearted story. The only downside is it seems to be going by too fast as I'm just about 2 hours in and have half the map cleared but maybe that's just me EDIT: there's more to this game than I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are looking for a game to play that is equal parts challenging but easy to play THIS IS YOUR GAME. I really like the pacing and the levels. This game is a good mix of great story telling and challenging game play that is simple to understand. Very well made game I can't wait to finish the whole game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oneyplays brought me here
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Every issue I had with this game comes down to the hitboxes of Chris and enemy attacks and spikes
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely lovely. A 2D side scroller, movement controls that make the most of the 2D gameplay and a whole lotta fun. The gameplay progresses in terms of movement as you get new skills that are shaped around the map. It's got that retro style feel to it. Being born in 2001, can't say I've played a lotta these types of game, however I can tell that the gameplay is good enough to keep me focused, entertained and challenged throughout the experience. Amazing job on the gameplay mechanics. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved it! The story mode was good and the progression was great. The character doesn't need to follow a certain map order. More stuff unlock after going through all maps. The mean mode has unique rendition of the previous stages/maps. The art style is cool. Character receives upgrades after vising masters in each map. Overall, it was a great game. I am not done yet and I have various difficulty modes to complete and achievements to unlock. Edited: I completed the game at this point of time…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thought this would be a nice platformer, but it just sucks. Its more annoying than it is fun, I dont care what the devs say, its not fun, period...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom if it was made by Pyrocynical
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Damn, Callmecarson goes hard in this game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Play control is spot on. Intuitive, responsive and satisfying. Inflate is mapped to the trigger for some reason, change it to the shoulder buttons to make inflate-cancelling more precise (Inflate/deflate refreshes your ability to attack mid-air, making rapid fire possible). I'd appreciate a more punishing difficulty right from the start, not sure what the 2nd quest changes. I had nothing but fun in my short time playing. If I haven't updated my review, it means I still recommend it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Adventures of Chris Adventures of Chris is a 1990s inspired platforming adventure with great humor, a awesome soundtrack and amazing artwork. While it draws a lot of inspiration from the classics, it manages to do its own thing with style. What might look like a simple platformer at first glance will soon prove to be a hard but fair gaming experience depending on your difficulty settings and will give you a storyline that is easy to love and dream oneself into. Gameplay You start off with a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed this game. It's a real gem. My favorite game as a kid was MegaMan X, and this game is a worthy homage to the style. The gameplay is interesting and fun. Some of the bosses are pretty tough, but I think the challenge was just about right. There aren't any game overs or cheap losses, so the game is very fair. The best part of the game is the writing, music, and artwork. In the game, Chris is a chubby kid, but the jokes make you laugh WITH him, not AT him. I really appreciate…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had very low expectations of this game when I saw Chris (Oney) play it. It was fun watching them play, but they never got to finish it. So I ended up giving the game a shot, and I loved it. It captures the formula of 2D platformers of the 90's, while giving it a twist to allow your character to inflate like a balloon. The game is fun, the soundtrack is great, and I had a blast playing it. Such an underrated game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's rare to see a 2d platformer game with unique innovative gameplay mechanics these days, but where others fail, Adventures of Chris deliver in spades! The game has great humorous writing, catchy soundtrack, challenging boss fights and well paced progression keeps the gameplay always fresh with new abilities and varied maps to play through. Not one dull moment.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →4/10 slow moving, no dodge, and HUGE hitbox...what fun
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A platformer that does not look much, but is well worth a shot. The main mechanic is Chris being able to fly and move on the ceiling, but there is much more to that as you will eventually learn new abilities the level design will take advantage of. Cons: - does not look very good at all. Characters/mobs are okay, scenery is meh at best Other issues: - the end game player character abilities may be a bit OP in that they offer too fast movement imho, I think they should have been nerfed a bit.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Generic game that's not even a true platformer. The main mechanic is the ability to inflate like a balloon and just fly everywhere except for two or three stages where you can't do that due to wind or fireballs. The stages' art is ugly and layout boring. Everything looks the same from start to finish, with platforms scattered without any meaning. Stages have a disturbing claustrophobic feel because the protagonist is so wide and stages so narrow. Most of the time I felt like a mouse stuck in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can really feel the love the developer(s) put into this game. If you love Megaman or Metroid, you'll love this game too. It feels like a 90's platformer with a 90's-esque art style. Though most people will probably play the ~6-7 hour campaign and move on, there are a few difficulty modes and challenge runs that can probably let you squeeze out another 15 hours if you want to see more. The skill ceiling is high too: some moves cancel one-another, and there are tons of fun movement abilities…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not bad but it's not great. I had a lot of hope for this early on because the float mechanic was really interesting and well done. It's started out really fun. Sadly my excitement disappeared when some of the bad design choices started becoming evident. For example, the hit detection isn't great. The enemies and the level design are pretty bland. The bosses are serviceable but it's very easy for them to get locked into a pattern that won't let you attack for a minute or two, maybe more.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game really surprised me. It’s such a labour of love by the developer and if you look closely, you can see the crazy amount of detail that has gone into, what at face value seems like a pretty plain 2D platformer. I would highly recommend this for anyone who is getting into game development, anyone who likes bullet-hell, reflex gaming and those people who like anything Souls-like. Top-notch game, Dev, you should be proud. Now go make another one, but market it properly this time…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →BEFORE STARTING REWIEW... Our game is 2.5D indie action platformer game with basic but kind of interesting story. We have lots of power and side skills to use while platforming and fight with monsters aswell. ARE STORY AND STORY TELLING IS GOOD? I do like to say yes, its basic but pretty good story. Details are well writed and story telling is good aswell. We have some funny and cool parts and they are pretty enjoyable. Espacily the part we learn our main character background story about…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely hilarious adventure of the most unlikely hero with even funnier abilities at his disposal. Solid platformer from both gameplay, art and story perspective. Great family game, with a special charm and nostalgia of the oldschool platformers. One of my favorite indies of the 2020.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first glance I saw the game as a bit of cheap shovelware, but playing through the corny writing and tough but fair gameplay really shined through. Would be awesome to see a sequel/spin off.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm a sucker for 90's nostalgia, and this game really takes me back to an era when games didn't take themselves so seriously. The gameplay is familiar, but offers something incredibly fresh and builds upon itself really nicely. The dialogue is hilarious. The music is on point. Don't let its self-aware crudeness fool you- there is quite a bit of finesse here. There was clearly a great deal of passion that went into making this game. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to forget their…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty fun and polished game with decent writing and a sprinkle of metroidvania. It can get exceedingly frustrating and difficult though, and to get all achievements you must 100% the game three times over (with increasing difficulty). I can't beat the secret boss on Hard - and that's just the first playthrough...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My Video Review is available here: https://youtu.be/0Wk8GyEYNMM Is Adventures of Chris the right game to be played by fellow Gaming Fathers and their families? There are many things that I like about the game - inventive story, sense of humor, system of skills and upgrades, variability of environment, good level design, optional level of difficulty, responsive controls and nice graphics. There are also some things that I dislike - frustrating boss battles along with the inability to shoot…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm surprised I even played this game let alone complete and review it. I thought it's gonna be one of those indie crappy games that I will play for 20 minutes and uninstall and I have no idea what got me hooked on it. very nice game mechanics I guess on top of a mildly entertaining humor. It's surprisingly a good game. Player discretion advised: a lot of fat-shaming.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A lovely platformer rich in gameplay variety, interesting mechanics and lots, LOTS of love and care put into everything. Maybe not the most groundbreaking game in its genre, but absolutely worth a playthrough or two (really loved the developer commentary)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Actually one of my favorite games ever. It's got bone-rattling gameplay, a ballon-tastic story and is just real fun. I love the Adventures of Chris.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best game of 2020
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Adventures of Chris is an interesting little indie adventure platformer. The controls are responsive, the soundtrack is bopping, and the storyline, although a bit dialogue heavy at the start, is engaging, in this gamer's opinion. My one regret about this game is that there isn't more of it! Run, float, bounce, and blast magic at ninja cats and grenade tossing penguins. The game is challenging but fair on the recommended difficulty, and throughout my entire time playing it I didnt experience any…

Perhaps it was even more satisfying seeing the various death sequences (Chris pathetically collapsing to the ground with his glasses breaking and falling next…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow, this was such a fun game. It reminds me a lot of some old school platformers like Darkwing Duck but with Mega Man like abilities. The humor is absolutely delightful and the graphics have that retro charm without having to resort to pixelated art, Definitely would recommend this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a fun game with intuitive controls, a wickedly sarcastic sense of humour and is a really good platformer. would recommend the game to anyone looking for a fun game that will make you laugh.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Adventures of Chris" is a handheld (Nintendo Switch)/console game that's also been put on Steam as a bit of an afterthought, as it's very much designed for the handheld/console gaming audience. It's yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. This one is genuinely made, however, it doesn't feature garbage pixel "art", nor is it an asset flip. This does not, however, mean it's a fantastic game. On…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like cartoony platformers with tight, varied movesets this is the game for you. I'm a fairly cynical person so I thought the cheesy saturday morning cartoon writting would be cringy, but it's honestly very earnest and can't help but to like it. The soundtrack is killer and there's a game mode called "Dev commentary" which gives you an insight on the thoughts behind every room, game mechanic and character design in the game. I highly recommend it. My only complaint is that the hardest…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played many metroidvania from hollow knight to ori and even all the metroid game and i have to say that i can not recommend this game its not worth the money and it has some cool mechanics that get ruined by bad game design
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's one of those games where you have to restart the level from the beginning every time you make even the smallest mistake. I hate those kind of games.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I know it may not look it, but this is an incredibly solid and fun action platformer!! Yes the story is goofy but it's actually cohesive and the writing is really good too. Definitely check this out if you're a fan of platformer and action games. The abilities are all really fun, level design is excellent, extra stuff to find to get even more abilities, unlockables and secrets, buy powerups, multiple difficulties to cater to anyone, extra modes etc, etc. It's done very, very well. My only…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent platformer game, honestly more content than I was expecting. The controls are great, a decent variety of levels and enemies, the upgrades feel rewarding. Lots of love and attention was put into the game and it shows. The gameplay is casual and not too punishing (apart from the last boss). When you die you start back in the room you were last in and not right at the beginning of the level. There is no "game over". I had a fun time with it and completed it on normal difficulty. I plan…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I didn't play for the entire time listed. My play time is probably around 8 hours less. I left the game running over night. Firstly, the good: * Great graphics * Nice sound * Good story line * Decent power ups / upgrade progression The Bad: * The platforming - yep, the whole game mechanic. It has sections of brilliance, and it can be enjoyable at times, overall though, there are too many "cheap shots", where you'll be damaged / die because you jumped, and you have to jump to progress. Add to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had a blast with this game. Although it may lack a little polish in some areas, it more than makes up for it in charm and humor. It also has a really good soundtrack and some interesting platforming mechanics. Although the story seemed pretty straightforward at first, it is quite original in some respects and it surprised me as I got deeper into the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Classic feel with modern controls. The story is fun and the main character is the nerd we all are behind are gaming controllers. This game has many difficulty levels and (of course) the more you play the better you get. Give it a try if you have a love of adventure side-scrollers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok so this game does just rip on the main character for being fat the entire game. But, gameplay wise this is easily one of the best platformers I've ever played. The inflation power is super unique, the platforming is tight and tough. You unlock so many powers that it gets hard to remember to use them all. Highly recommend 100%ing this gem.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →AoC is many things - humorous, well-designed, expertly paced - but above all else, it's a whole lot of _fun._ The game is clearly modeled on '90s platformers, with a MegaMan X feel that's further accentuated by the ability to choose the order in which you tackle the game's levels, with a new ability hidden in each. Though I'm not yet close to finishing the game, I can already tell that this gives it significant replay value. The game is in no way a retread of its inspirations though. It builds…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is such a fun and intricate game! The art style is awesome and the games story is amazing!! This is a game I would recommended all of my friends if i had any!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very fun and somewhat nostalgic metroidvania platformer that is an extremely enjoyable and fun experience that does not overstay its welcome. Best played with a controller. Loved my time with it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommended - it mixes a lot of the 1990s platformer mechanics into a simple, humble game. For example, the most prominent inflating-deflating-floating mechanic seems inspired by the much simpler Fat Mario mechanic in Super Mario World. You have the fist attack from a lot of Nintendo-hard NES games such as Nightmare on Elmstreet and the various projectile attacks that remind me of Mega Man. At the very beginning when Chris has zero power-ups, the game resembles Lester the Unlikely while it…
