42 of 42 · most liked firstPro: -multiple routes to explore -multiple difficulty selection -grid style system that is easy to tell between obstacle, shielded lands, and normal Con: -Story layout on map is confusing, sometimes you go to another chapter before the previous chapter ***Some maps use timed field hazard yet you move in turn based mode. Meaning if you out of AP (action point) the field hazard can hit your character before you click end turn, and they DO hurt (easily 30-50% of unit wipe).*** -Some weapons fire…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A decent mecha SRPG plagued by some questionable design decisions and an utterly uninteresting story. Go in it for the robot-building/combat alone. The two biggest things I disliked about the game are: Map hazards activate in real-time for some arbtirary reason. The majority of your parts will be obtained through a literal slot machine. However, neither of these things were enough to sour the experience. As map hazards are far and few between, while the game is generous enough with the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Acaratus is a turn-based strategy filled with rpg elements. I noticed Acaratus a year ago, it looked good, but sadly I forgot to follow it's development. As soon as I saw it on steam I had to buy it and it's my new favourite game! Pros: +So much customisation! Modify body, legs, weapons and various other accessories on your mechs. +Level up your main character and choose helpful perks. +Combat is action point based on a grid, it's simple, but entertaining and satisfying. +Interesting story.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Acaratus is a kinda fun time if you like stuff like Monsters Den where you strategize and muck about with gear, but it has a few bugs that detract from being able to play it properly. Normally I'd plow through bugs but the lack of any autosave or being able to save without exiting kinda kills my enthusiasm.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While this game is still very early in development, it has already proven to be a solid turn-based strategy game with plenty of customization revolving around quick skirmish style battles. It has a unique blend of component builds for units matched with a supportive action card system in battles, which gives it a novel approach to this genre of gameplay. Pros : - Quick matches make for easy time alotment - Simple and streamlined UI makes for easy access to game elements Cons : - Still in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Valerian Conflict ended years ago with Helios the victors, they then crowning theirselves Emperor decreed that Battle suits the right of Helio and that no others should have them. The story begins with a slave and their master Adina, who are fleeing the punishment of hiding a battlesuit from Helios forces, now in order to survive they must fight back however their flight from penance stirs the warm coals of rebellion. Combat is turnbased with a timer defining your turns allowance, units…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a turn based game. It uses real time stage hazards. There is nothing else to say - Completely unacceptable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Back towards the end of the 80's and early nineties some titles were so rogue-like as to allow you to sell off items needed for quests to complete a twenty hour long game. Similar to those older games you'll find Acraratus requires upwards of eight hours to finish but if you don't have the empathic ability to 'tap' into the developer to understand his thinking and the intended appraoch you will most likely find yourself at hour 7 unable to proceed further because you've spent and distributed…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've tought this game concept is really cool and even seeing 50% negative reviews decided to try it. Game screen freezes on attempt to open mecha-edit screen. I can hear that buttons are clicable but that's all. I wish it could be at least playable. Edit: I've managed to run game after reinstall. Game crashes very often and you can use only single save (saved when exiting to menu). Happened to me in 2nd act that I've saved on map field requiring to use key to open (I used it) and then after…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has some serious bugs no jokes.. I tried it one year later to check if they fixed them and it stuck in the first mission wtf ... Its the same unplayable buggy enviroment as one year ago.. cant refound it but also cant suggest it to anyone .. damn bro
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Acaratus has potential! Let's hope the Devs can do something deep & tatical with the Campaign. Weather, castle seiges and terrain penalities would be nice! Customizing is done well, the battle suits have a good variety of choices when it comes to weapons etc. If you like mechs, turn-based battles and building the ultimate killing machine, this game might be of interest!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked it a lot and kept saying to myself “just one more battle”. I love the gambling system to get loot at each town. By the end I was a bit too OP and took down the final boss easily on normal difficulty. I won’t be playing again, the story was too light and the fights too long to do that. Some Negatives: The game did crash a lot for me. I had to save every 10-15 minutes to make sure I didn’t lose progress. You have to bring a “pull” device with you to the penultimate fight with no…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wasted potential. Acaratus has very stale combat, mech customization that offers little variety, and story cut scenes that would benefit with added voice acting.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Light turn based gamne. My first recommandation was positive, as the publisher promised some neeed changes. We are now one year later and nothing has been done during the last 6 months. It's a cheap light game with a studio that does not have any means to support the game long term, sadly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The concept of the game is really good. Acaratus has a lot of potential and since it is still under development, surely it can be even better. I like the steampunk style that this game has and that you can build your own robots in it. One thing to point out for the future is that there will be saving option when you get further in the game, so that you don't have to start from the very beginning if you for example died. Also, sometimes you cannot see the whole screen as some texts ends up a bit…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ I had high hopes for Acaratus, but unfortunately, my experience with the game has been nothing short of a nightmare. The potential for an engaging turn-based strategy game was there, but the constant crashes and technical issues have completely overshadowed any positive aspects.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game seems like it could be interesting, but the resolution can't be adjusted to my screen size, and half the video options don't work. There aren't any achievements either since support seems to have stopped in early 2017.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all, whatever you do, don't quit out during a combat. You'll permanently glitch the game's audio into blaring out intermittent white noise so that it sounds like you're under attack by a group of machine guns. And yes, I do mean permanently glitch, as in I have not found a way to fix it yet. I've set the game's audio to mute in the meantime, but all this means is that the white noise machine guns have died down to the point where I don't hear them if my headphones aren't on my head.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Greeting Everyone! Today I will be reviewing Acaratus a turn based strategy game that pulled at my nostalgia of classic Turn Based Strategy Mech games similar like Front Mission (R.I.P.). But, with what appears to be a small budget and graphics that of last gen does this game hold up? Rockem Sockem: At its core this game is all about punching or shooting other robots, or at least mechs. There is a story but assuming it even plays right (read below) it is completely forgettable. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all, this is a better game then most negative reviewers give it credit. Stuff like friendly fire is most of the time not understanding the abilities. Yes i shot myself in the back a couple of times, but it was poor placement on my part, not the game f***ing up... It has some deckbuilding, it has some RPG-leveling, it has some advanture stuff and it has a lot of mech tinkering! The last part is the core of the game. Find/buy new stuff, edit your mechs, see what works! It is well worth…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was expecting something with deep tactics and level up system. Wasn't what I was looking for.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is still crashing. I played an hour or two and got 6 crash. You'll fix it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun Mech tactics game with lots of customization. It takes awhile to get used to the logistics but very tactical and enjoyable once you do. Similar to Front Mission (but nothing is as good as FM).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just finished this fine game. Mech customization is simple yet effective, allows for a large number of combinations. The story is simple yet works good enough. At some point you won't care about it anymore. Partly because of errors that cause some dialogues to be played at wrong moments - before an other dialogue was played. Showing clear signs of chronological continuity errors. Also, chose save and exit option every couple of battles and after rebuilding any of your mechs as the autosaves…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I guardedly recommend Acaratus. It's not a brilliant game, and it has a number of flaws, but it's entertaining enough. Now, the details: First of all, though this game touts the use of cards, it's not a Collectible Cards Game in almost any sens. Indeed, cards here are the same things as potions in other games: consumable items that you buy in stores, the only difference being you can't buy concrete cards, but have to settle for a random set from a 'booster'. It's not to say this detracts from…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good game good cutomisation but only biped for the player even in skirmish may need to add a little more weapon like spear the sad thing is when you got the right combination you can one shot everything even the final boss on normal but overall good idea need more steampunk game and i love the weapon caracteristic
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommended when on sale and only if you are a fan of tactical combat and unit / mech customization. TL:DR: Buggy and unpolished, but mech customization and combat can be fun at times. But being forced to access story chapters out of order, buggy dialogue, randomly self-attacking mechs, and the inclusion of locked locations that you can't reach because there are no keys available is a bit annoying and may be a deal breaker for many. Some other issues include broken fly over text on damage…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very disppointing. Dated graphics, poorly implemented dialog system, simplistic combat, over simplified world map. The main reason I didn't get very far in the game is that it was just too dull.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played for twenty minutes or so and then suffered a ten minute loading screen, so closed it with task manager and now it starts but, can't move beyond the main menu screen without crashing. Reinstalled and then deleted .exe file so that it'd reinstall fully when I checked cache with Steam. It fixed the load screen issue though now it freezes up when I juggle modules in the garage/build mode.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pieve of ♥♥♥♥ gatnage fro,m ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid motherfuicklers you crit only if it doesnt matter enemyx crit mostly first 2 turns with 5% chance of crit
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Acaratus is an evenly paced tactical exploration game that succeeds with refreshing dialogue and absorbing grid-based battles. There's definitely more room to diversify visual layout, but ultimately, gameplay dodges monotony thanks to tons of card modifiers. The epic instrumental music, sound effects, strategic attacks and counter melees all balance together smoothly to form a really addictive and immersive battle framework. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a ton of promise and the devs are dedicated to making it better, as evidenced by the regular patches and good amount of content in those patches. The core game is innovative, nostalgic of a "tactics" game, and has enjoyable graphics, good customization, a lot of strategy, and pretty clever writing. Recommended, especially if they put it up for a little sale. :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've probably lost 3 hours of gameplay to crashes mixed with lack of auto save points/ability to manually save without going to the main menu. I only have 12 hours of gameplay.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Acaratus, developed and published by Nodbrim Interactive, is an ambitious turn-based tactical RPG that combines steampunk aesthetics, modular mech customization, and card-driven combat into a distinctive, if sometimes uneven, strategy experience. Set in a war-torn world ruled by an oppressive empire, the game places players at the head of a growing rebellion that relies on powerful steam-driven battle suits to challenge tyranny. From the outset, Acaratus makes it clear that it values strategic…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game sort of feels like a mobile game to play, if that makes sense. The combat is deep, but it's mostly in maintaining your mech and units-- combat itself is pretty simple, at least in the beginning. The maps were small, but I think I might just be used to playing larger-mapped strategy games. It wasn't for me!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is "alright" I guess. Was a bit dull and slow for me. Storyline is "meh". I give it a 3/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →hidden gem. give it a chance as a fan of TBS. Perhaps on sale if you feel a little bit like a coward ;-)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is perpetual winter...Freezes all the time.....If this was the answer to a stable entertaining turned based combat, strategy....Sorry wrong answer...Thought it was my computer....it's not....Disappointing....
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's a winner. get it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Support is non existant, I haven't been able to play this game for months. But it is really a good game, I like it. The price is too high for this game, should be max 4.99, not 12.99!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game. Really like the bot build thing Not that hard too play first play thru hard second impossible. Spoiler got me an flying ball with 4 barrels kill everything in one burst turn boss and everything. Dide found a werid bug last boss the battle got skiped soo had too play the game again too meet him in battle.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun concept, ok gameplay but devs abandoned it way to early.
