positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall, this game is pretty good. This is essentially the first game that SCS has done that eventually branched off into what is ATS/ETS 2 now. Even though it is a very "ancient" title it seems to run and play good even on Windows 11. The only slight problems I had is the truck(s) seem to have a mind of its own where it would randomly detach from the trailer if you try going up a steep hill or grade on the highway. Im not sure if its just an error on my part or something but it does tend to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I used to play it as a kid(when I was in kindergarten, and before too and later as well), a lot, although I preferred Pedal to the Metal, great game, and now in steam I bought it in package as I have already bought quite a few games from this publisher. There is English language for now only, it used to have other languages, such as Hungarian text and voice, I will detail this review further later(reorganizte it a bit), but I recommend this game for anyone who likes classic trucking, I bought…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I remember when I play this game when it was only on CD, my first and loved one hardcore game, 18/18 wheels of steel.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My childhood game. Earned a million dollars and got congratulated, 10/10. As for the downsides, the first trucks are really slow and 2nd and 3rd map were much less detailed than 1st. Works absolutely well on Win 10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first video game I have ever played at around age 3 or 4. Never understood the objective before the disc broke. A couple months ago I find it here, and the feeling of progressing further than ever before in a game you haven't played in roughly 14 years is exhilarating.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an old, bare-bones caveman game, but it's a fun one. This is a game that doesn't hold your hand through anything. When you start, there's not even a marker for where you are on the map, and even with the GPS upgrade there's still no guidance, it just adds the aforementioned marker. You have to actually pay attention to road signs to get where you're going. Breaking the law is actively encouraged. Speeding and going over your hours only matter if you're caught at a speed trap, and you can…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really nice game, played it in 2000s, and I missed it. Bought it and played it again, to remember my childhood good days. I want to collect all 18 Wheels of steel series.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →4. 18 Wheels of Steel: Haulin' I have tried to play this game, it closes at launch. It refuses to open. I have given up.
unlabelledView post →Prior to buying this game on Steam, I have not played it in nearly 20 years. I was very happy to see that it works flawlessly on my Windows 10 system that is decently powerful. Playing this game makes me realize that the newer trucking simulators are missing some elements that I truly loved back in the day. Comparing this game vs the newer simulators feels like comparing 80s/90s trucking vs today. Hard truck feels more like old school trucking, you don't even have a GPS until you can afford…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really have thick nerves and I'm ready to give every game a chance. This game made me want to uninstall it on a couple of occasions and never try to play it again. With the last atoms of strength I played it as I wanted, all 3 maps (difficulty levels). I realize that this is an old game and that it was a significant advancement in the gaming industry at the time. However, the number of bugs and the gameplay itself require nerves of steel to play the game. Some of the critical bugs are: the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →18 Wheels of Steel: Hard Truck, developed by SCS Software and Sunstorm Interactive and published by Cosmi ValuSoft, represents one of the formative steps in the evolution of commercial trucking simulations on PC. Long before the genre gained mainstream recognition through Euro Truck Simulator and American Truck Simulator, Hard Truck established the framework for a more grounded and methodical gameplay experience—one shaped not by arcade-style racing thrills, but by the slow, procedural demands…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ook, I fixed wall-hitting.... Switch from openGL to direct3D8.... It just works better for this game... Before - I had constant problem with hitting invisible walls. I could stutter even 10 times in one place (on flat road, not touching anything) after switching options it works no problem. Game was not tested with OpenGL I guess... Cause it's unplayable on it. Maybe some coliders are very jagged...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I didn't play much at all but still would recommend this game as this is a very nostalgic game. Reminds me of the windows 98/XP computer I had back then and playing this game. The soundtrack still plays in my head from the time to time till date. I don't think I bought the CD new back then, but still was a lovely experience from what would become Euro truck 2. I think they are even using the same engine, which goes to show how strong this engine is. I read a couple of complaints of people…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is chalenging at first but once you get the hang of it lots of fun
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →my truck hits invisible walls, randomly slows down and comes to complete stop for no reason, but i still had some fun playing this game. i recommend this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →18 Wheels of Steel: Hard Truck Game is severely dated, and I mean SEVERELY DATED. But that's not a bad thing. I do enjoy the fact that SCS when so far to release these older games. Yes, they are nostalgia but I enjoy it at a technical standpoint to compare this and the current Euro and American Truck Simulators. SCS has made a long way from where they are now, a company that truly cares and passionate with the content they make. Although I don't see myself playing this often, I still had to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The truck is too slow when transporting coffee and it's hard to find my current location and route to my destination.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I grew up with this one 23 years ago, and in full fairness, compared to the modern offerings, it's rough. No customization, primitive traffic, and simple graphics, but that doesn't take away from the fact it still holds up in its own way. Plus it's the only one where you can drive right into the sea or get run down by a train and die with little epilogue about what happened to your dog who was in the truck with you and your wife.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a good game but has issues when driving along like hitting nothing and your truck comes to a dead stop with damage, this game features trucks that you can upgrade. You do jobs and deliver cargo within a time limit. No controller support, you have to use steam input and download a community input for your controller. Some trucks wont pick up speed when driving from 0-40. Over all its a good game. 4/10

The game still is a lot of fun but there is not really any reason to play this over ATS/ETS unles you're nostalgic for it or wonder what SCS's first trucking game was like.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its overall a great game for how old it is i used to play this as a kid however there is some bugs in the game such as invisible walls on roadway that will put you to a complete stop and make you have to recover if not start a new game but it is how i remember it overall a good buy
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Song 2, I loved this OST so much, I used to boot the game just to listen to the music while doing homework. Hard Truck: 18 Wheels of Steel, such a great game. youtu.be/s6zo6tZrO20

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →18 Wheels of Steel Across America was probably among my most played games when I was maybe 9 or 10. I usually think of Eurotruck players as at least 17+, but I wonder if there are still kids these days who also just get hooked on driving a truck in a video game.
unlabelledView post →Great game…I just wish that you could play online with friends then is would very very great….
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an old game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is pure nostalgia.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great classic, definitely worth a look if you like truck sims. It helps to run it with dgvoodoo or something similar as this allows for 4k widescreen support and forces MSAA to work with it. Is it as good as the modern games like ATS? No, but it has 3 fairly good sized maps and I enjoy the old school challenge of not having gps and having to use a map and interstate signs. All in all great game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tried to play as a child many times; I remember I liked it. The first successful delivery happened just today, though xD.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just wish they would add support for fullscreen so I can get back into the game whenever I alt+tab without crashing. Oh well, interesting aspect for a first game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →childhood memories....
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ahh the nostalgia. Still love it after all this time, it's nice for it to not be a sandbox, and just to have the 1 million dollar objective. I'll probably finish the other 2 regions at some point but for now it was nice to finally finish it. Protip: Green truck is all you need, the more expensive ones feel like they have a slower acceleration.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its a fun game i would pefer it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →yes it was fun and need 12 hours to play it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Perfect, played it a lot when I was a kid
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →was one of my favorite games when i was achild.. but upon playing it now.. i ran into invisible walls randomly on the road every 20 minutes and they ruined my cargo for 10% or more.. sad. banger game otherwise.
