60 of 113 · most liked firstI had my eye on this game for a while, as I was making a similar game to Zotrix a while ago. The idea of a simple shoot 'em up with a more modular ship appealed to me, and I finally grabbed it. In a way, I had a lot of fun with it, as I was just looking for a mindless game. Shooting stuff is fun! Unfortunately, the pacing, progression and difficulty curve are all completely off. I don't know how the game was in Early Access for 4 months and these glaring issues haven't been dealt with...…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Zotrix: ~~~~~~ Zotrix is a retro arcade shoot’em up with a twist of strategy. At the start of the game you will be at your mission control. There, you’ll have options to upgrade your vessel, go to the trade resources, see your current position by using the map or you can start a mission. Essentially, you have to go to another space station with a specific cargo. Upon success of your mission, you will be rewarded with space credits and resources too (Gold, Nickel and others). With credits,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →On paper, this would be one of my favorite games. I love top-down arcade shooters, and resource trading/management, and upgrade loops. Zotrix has all of these things, and it does them all in a very mediocre way. The shooting, where you'll spend most of your time, is incredibly boring and easy. Enemies will slowly march onto the screen, single file, where you will immediately wipe them all out by firing in a straight line - even without any upgrades. As the game grows in difficulty (at a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is pretty good. Frustrating? Yes. Difficult. YES. In space? YES! The only thing I don't understand is the optimization of the particle effects. My CPU and GPU (i5 and the highest radeon series) are equipped to handle that stuff, yet I get severe lag when too many particles are on the screen, with a density of 20 parts/cm^2 or greater. I know, one can turn the particles down, or even off, but I don't need to. My computer can handle what the game is doing, but for some reason the game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's trully a blast to the past. Zotrix is reminiscent of the finest golden-era shooters that us veterans played in 80's :) Though the basic premise of 'shoot everything in your sight' is still the same, it works suprisingly well on many levels, succesfully incorporating trading mechanics as well as some basic economics. Seeing this as a first game of this genre from this young Croatian studio, I can only look forward to future updates and refinements!

Along comes a game, a game that bravely claims that it follows the olden ways of playstyle that of the arcade shooter genre. Now we question this little game, we belittle and ask it, "Are you really what you claim to be?" And that little game rear its Early Access head and said. "Yes" And that my good man and woman of…

Zotrix has fast response, interesting enemy wave patterns, a killer soundtrack, and a good working upgrade system. The only letdown is the graphics department, but in a game like this you focus more on surviving than on how shiny everything is anyway! The game is still in early access, but is fully playable and looks to me to be really complete as is. Zotrix is simply fun to play.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I didnt not play alot, but i surely will. This game brought alot of old gamming memories back, it made my early gamming childhood alive once again, a awesome 2D indie game which is worth even the full price of 9.99€ Trust me, this game is a awesome little game to have tons of fun with. A little package with alot of fun inside it ! The only thing i do not like it has not a option for resolution but that will be surely updated since it is Early Access! The game is a must have if u want to play a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The current state of the game does not support Xbox controllers well. For strange reasons the game requires a lengthy gamepad calibration the first time you activate the Xbox controller in game. The calibration stage is cumbersome yet producing bad calibration results, and it is impossible to steer and aim in the game in any meaningful way. Bad impression regarding the gamepad controls, as I have yet to see a gamepad compatible game on steam that requires calibrations. Most games just work…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty solid shoot em up that has a neat twist with the currency. Big catalogue of enemies and minibosses even when some waves repeat. Ok graphics, nothing special and simple but it helps in situations where you could get confused if they were more complicated. Excellent varying soundtrack though some soundeffects are either lacking or could use some work.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall rating: 8 / 10 Zotrix is a space shooter coming from an experienced Indie game development team - ZeroBit Games. Zotrix is also their first game published on steam platform. Whilst, as any early access game there is a lot of room for improvement the game runs rather smooth and promises quite a lot. I've had the privilege of discussing the game with its developers and the impression gained is quite positive. Aside the fact of ZeroBit's constant feedback collection and the friendly…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has serious balancing issues. It is very easy to get overpowered gear very early in the game. This makes completing the game tedious and boring. The trading aspect of the game can be completely ignored. After finishing the first 10 to 15 missions there is not much more to upgrade and you'll basically have an endless supply of resources and money. Some of the upgrade items (the different missiles i.e.) and all the lower tier gear is completely obsolete. The story doesn't matter at all.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Zotrix is a good Shoot 'Em Up, the classic gameplay but effective! The ability to buy and add more weapons to boost the spacecraft is a good thing. The style reminds me a little of the games of the 1980 ! Ah, I want to point out the excellent soundtrack! Ultimately, Zotrix is a good product, I recommend buying! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pY3rhDduJ0 (Below is the Italian full review) Zotrix è una rivisitazione moderna del classico soprattutto arcade. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game looks good at first, and I like what it tries to do, but it needs alot of polish. The missions have you grinding through levels you've already done. The resource trading system allows you to get the best equipment not even halfway through the game, making the aforementioned grinding even easier and more boring once you get past the initial difficulty curve. It really needs an autofire feature. There are lots of strange interface quirks that weren't ironed out. The music is cool…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A excellent well done addicting retro action shooter. The game play brings back the feel of arcade games from the 80's. With a very nicely done techo soundtrack, colorful graphics and sound. The game hits the spot dead on how retro arcade shooters should be done. Highly recommened for action shooter fans.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like a classic space shooter arcade ... Pros: - Nice Soundtrack (an awesome soundtrack). - Great variety of enemies, stages, weapons ... - Very addictive. Cons: The menu looks a little boring. But it´s ok, very enjoyable. 9 / 10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →SHAPES! IN SPACE! Zotrix is an oldschool topdown scrolling shooter with trading elements. It has had some love put into it and is a modernish take on pattern based shooters. The quests and trading system give it some legs but the problem is that this style of shooter, with waves of enemies moving in pre set patterns; is boring, and when it isn't boring it is overwhelming. It's an interesting design choice but I feel they should have gone full bullet hell mode with a larger variety of permanent…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Chaos, brute force, killing, destroying, it's the words to imagine how do I feel while playing this game. The enemy you have to kill is so much. Sometimes, if you want to survive the stage, you have to upgrade your vehicle. pros: + 3D movement + firing mode from dropped case + variety enemy cons: + the music doesnt match the space scene i think
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Zotrix - great indie game, revive memories of childhood when we used to play only in Sega and Playstation 1, with lots of levels, such as the passage and just plain fun, a great 8-bit music Pros of the game: + Not worth + Interesting + I like Indie Games + Many Levels + There are cards Steam + Excellent Music
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A twin-stick vertical shooter-- what a novel idea! Unfortunately it is wasted on the most boring, repetitive arcade game ever made. While I like the intuitive concept of non-linear mission selection, equipment stores and resource trading, any pilot worth his salt will have enough to purchase the best ship, and the best equipment, after just a few missions, rendering the entire in-game economy completely worthless. Once you buy the best shield, you never lose it-- even if it is fried during…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is fun it has awesome story and cool music! Price is good. 10/10 Get the game you will enjoy it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game looks like it might be fun if they fix the controller support. Xbox 360 controller here, no excuse for getting THAT controller support wrong...patch it please so I can play and I will reccomend as long as it's a decent game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Laggy, quite boring missions, controls feels flimsy. Great concept but not quite where it could be in terms of execution.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it is a good game if you like old arcade games these good old times i really liked galaxy on fire 2 on my iphone so i found this one is like it but in arcade i can upgrade my ship and add some shields add some weapons and beat these other ships really liked it cuz i like arcade games
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gameplay is okay, but after playing 5th level I felt I'm doing the same. I dislike shooting sounds - if you don't really make them down in options (accessible only from Main Menu!) it will totally overwhelm music - which is good, but not fitting feeling of this game properly... it's just playing - no "changes" to music when new wave appears or any thing. * Storyline seems ok, but I don't feel it really :( * The trading and upgrade windows looks very ugly :( * You always finish mission on 5th…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Zotrix is a game that I recommend because: - is a method to banish boredom - it has trading cards - it is indie - it has action - it is RPG - it has strategy Enjoy!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →+80's/90's arcade shooter +Ship upgrades +Buying/Selling of elements (used to purchase upgrades) -Repetitive levels -The gameplay speeds up/slows down from time to time, even when I'm not using FRAPS. (See profile for PC specs) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wLN2scYapY
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The text was very slow and couldn't be sped up or skipped. Everything looked very complex in the very beginning and made me want to avoid it all. Controller didn't work right. You could probably play with it but things like " press the "A" button to continue but it was actually left on the dpad" would make it very difficult to figure out.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →early access review aldow not completed its already a very good game with suprisingly deep gameplay, this title has alot of potential on top of what it already is the developer is also very active gathering feedback and implementing changes based on that something we dont see enough its made with love the reason i like games like this is becoz i am stil hunting after that feeling i got from playing r-type back in the day, i think this game fits in nicely into that catagory aldow ofc its a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice bullet hell with upgrades and a freedom degree in mission selection and upgrades. The developers seem to be one of the good people, so support them if you can. Controls with the newly added controller support may still need some tweaking on their side, but hey, it's early access and they seem to listen a lot to their customers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Superb retro style classic shooter with the added bonus of being able to upgrade your ship with weapons, sheilds and even drones. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6w0y-fhg1s Zotrix is an arcade space shooter inspired by early shooter games on arcade machines from 80's and early 90's. Designed for all generations it contains missions with nice and colorful enemies while focused on the arcade element of the gameplay. You dive into deep space escorting a cargo ship from your fleet. Quickly you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Horribly bland, boring, repetitive gameplay. Most upgrades do nothing to change the gameplay in any way. Enemies (randomly drawn, pixelated abstract shapes) move into the screen slowly, single-file, and require zero thought to be beaten down. This is the most mind-numbing experience I've ever gone through on my PC. To the developer: you earn no points, and may god have mercy on your soul.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Zotrix is like a top down arcade shooter bullet hell where you play as a spaceship shooting everything. That being said, the game has pros and cons to it, although from what I found, the cons outweighed the pros. The good parts of this game is that the gameplay is actually pretty fun. When you are shooting stuff, it is smooth, sometimes refreshing, and is challenging to dodge and shoot enemies. Also, the game features some pretty good music, which I enjoyed. The bad parts of this game is that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its like real life. Hide in a corner and hope not to get hit. 10/10 would rage again.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Introduction Zotrix is a modern take on the classic arcade shooter. The game introduces resource trading economy and system of upgrades between number of space stations bringing the classic experience into modern generation. Aliens are attacking and Solar Division Command needs You! My comments What's more fun than destroing thousands of alien ships? Extremely addicting gameplay Great recource, trading, and crafting system Inspirations taken from several different early arcade shooter…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a great game for a gamer looking for something to remind them of their past. This game is like Space Invaders but more indepth with missions, a good story line and the game appears to have a goal (most games these days fail to do this). With only 1 hour of playtime so far I can deffidently recommend this game to the casual gamer or just someone who wants to relax and play games with awesome music and graphics. Pros: -Good music -Easy controls -Appealing UI -Compatable with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →cant get a ps4 controller to work properly for it, the controller setup is awful and says half the buttons are already mapped. looked like a promising game, going to refund.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Zotrix is addicting, It looks a bit like Galaga and feels a bit like Geometry Wars. That being said this game is wholly unique, and it is awesome! It's still in the early access, which means that there are bugs here and there but the game works enough to be rather enjoyable. The developer is really responsive in the forums and the game has a lot of potential. I can't wait to see where this one goes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Old style game but so ♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nice little game good music (:
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like retro games with a screen full of enemies and bullets this is the game for you. It has everything you’d want in a game like this. Enemies… and I’d say lots of of them but that would be an understatement as it feels like Galaga meets Asteroids on steroids. Oh yes, I mentioned the bullets.. If you’re slow to react to a new wave coming from the other side of the screen expect a screen full of bullets intent on blowing your ship to pieces. Thankfully you do have a shield and it’s…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like retro shooters, then you will like this. Very nice graphics, good feel to the controls. Nice power-ups. I think it is really well done. Nice soundtrack too! LIke an old arcade game on steroids.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great game. It's the kind of game i've been looking for.. reminds me of the 80s classic shooters but updated.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun Old Skool Arcade shooter. Played 7 hours and half way through the 'story' (going from a to b and sometimes to c and d) good fun for the most part up until now, buy resources at one station and sell at another for profit+ There are ship/weapon upgrades available but it doesn't take long to get the top gear which is a shame because there's not a lot else to spend money on other than resources for making more moolah. I'm in it for the achievements now, if you're looking for aother game to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game. It could be because I have an extreme bias for this genre, or any game that reminds me of a misspent (debatable) youth in Arcade/Pizza joints when the quarter was king. I don't think it's just that, though. Zotrix is an excellent retro top-down shooter in it's own right, but it is boosted to even greater heights by the more modern RPG elements woven in. The action is pretty fast-paced, but never seems to skew too far out of reach in it's difficult moments, even as you level…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game for about 5 hours then its really repetitive. After the first upgrade the challenge went away. You can work the resouces as you travel buying low where you are at and selling high where you are traveling to so credits become pointless after a while. I think this game should be $4.99 or less just due to the replay value being very low.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I Used to own a modem made by Zotrix. This is pretty good too.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fn awesome game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The concept so far is great, however, there is no real progression. You go from a relatively easy difficulty to enemies that take multiple hits from your stock weapons in order to kill them. So far, I have yet to discover how to earn enough credits on one or two missions to enhance my survivability on the third mission. Game definitely has balance issues, I don't recommend it until the devs get those issues worked out. Looks like another early access game took me for a ride.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is terrible. The dialog is slow and I don't feel like reading 3 pages. The gameplay is unspired. Refund.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This Arcade Shooter is good game, it has a great progression system, a ton of different enemies and bosses, and the whole structure of the game itself is laid out really well. Well the game feels like a cross between Astoroid, Space Invaders. I can't say anything bad. Put it in a Arcade box and a bunch of quarters.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome arcade style gameplay, bring back memories :) Hope to see DLCs
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shoot-em-up with replayability... kind of?! Very great game mechanics with an actual market system and trading. Grinding up upgrades is quite cool and there is some kind of story to the quests. Not the best graphics but thats not the point of the game. Great Retro-ish music, quite nostalgic but also modern Sadly the gameplay is super boring with enemies comming in waves from the same angle for 20seconds each, so all you have to do: Stay still and wait for some enemies to come into the screen.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game seems great at first and then you get to a place around diffculty 3 or 4 that you can not progress unless you manganed you money in a certain way. Basically you will have to start over,
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a well made game technically, runs smooth and looks crisp, but it probaly should do that since almost nothing happens. It's a not particularly well balanced mixture of taipan and galaga. The steam achievement stats speak for themselves, the vast majority of the users stop playing after the first few levels, because there is just nothing more to see.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome twin shooter experience. The game has a cool Asteroids/Galaga throwback feel with a full economy, missions, and upgrades to spice things up. Play is smooth, music is fitting, and the screen fills with bullets quickly if you aren't on top of things. Avoid backing into the edge of the screen - the next wave might be right behind you!
