Young Woman and the Sea
This is the extraordinary true story of Trudy Ederle, the first woman to successfully swim the English Channel. Through the steadfast support of her older sister and supportive trainers, she overcame adversity and the animosity of a patriarchal society to rise through the ranks of the Olympic swimming team and complete the 21-mile trek from France to England. An extraordinary true story very nicely told.

unlabelledView post →I've been saying since Star Wars that Daisy Ridley deserves to be a movie star. Between the Sequel Trilogy, Sometimes I Think About Dying, Young Woman and the Sea, and Magpie, I've always felt she should’ve had a Margot Robbie-Zendaya level fanbase.

unlabelledView post →The next few years are going to be MURDER for Disney in particular - aside from Young Woman and the Sea, The Amateur, and Elio, EVERY film they've definitively put into production is a remake or continuation of an established, often overly-milked IP. A Moana sequel this year, a remake in 2025!
unlabelledView post →Morning 😃☕️👋 Just watched 'Young Woman and the Sea', a moving and inspiring film about Gertrude (Trudy) Ederle, the first woman to swim The English Channel (1926) and who became an early pioneer for women in sport. Something a bit different for me but well worth a watch imo. 🎬📽
unlabelledView post →Young Woman and the Sea feels like a throwback movie for Disney, when they did the annual "underdog" movie release. Jeff Nathanson writes a really strong movie, while it does take liberties for the sake of the movie it doesn't feel disingenuous and it works. (1/2)

It's the story of Trudy Ederle, the first woman to cross the English Channel by swimming 99 years ago. Daisy Ridley gives it all. Good set design and costumes. The CG backgrounds are pretty obvious though. #filmsky
