16 of 16 · most liked firstTo players from other countries: I am a Chinese player, and I have seen your comments. I'd like to explain why this game has poor translations and seems boring to you. This game is developed by Bone Nail Studio, which had only two developers during the game's creation. Later, they added a game operator (whom we call Small Bone Nail in China). The game went through two crowdfunding campaigns, so their budget is very tight. Additionally, some of the text comes from specific Chinese dialects that…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a good game in itself, and very enjoyable, but the backgrounds (and maybe the food as well from what I remember) are generated using artificial intelligence and they have not disclosed it to steam like they should've. If the use of genAI in games does not bother you, ignore this review, but if it does, do be aware of this. I cannot recommend the game due to the fact they didn't disclose the use of genAI in the first place.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'll start by saying that I mostly enjoy the game, but if I'd known about what I'll describe below, I think I would have skipped past it. -This game was clearly translated, and the translation is pretty slapdash in both the UI and the VN elements. I can easily forgive a lack of localization (everyone speaks in English, yet they randomly mention that a character just spoke Cantonese or Mandarin and was hard to understand), but words are just misspelled or cut off now and then in the UI, and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You can tell there was no effort to edit this DeepL English translation. I can't recommend the game because of this, considering there is quite a lot more dialogue than I expected. There are times when it's incredibly difficult to read and take seriously. Maybe I'll edit my review later if some aspect of the gameplay or "dating" is good enough to change my mind. Right now, the gameplay (hotel management) seems to be very cozy, while the dating aspect is endearing and cute. So there is…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While my experience is overall positive, I have mixed feelings about this visual novel. First and foremost, I must say that I really enjoyed this game and would definitely recommend it, both for the hotel management mechanics and the narrative surrounding them. Although the introduction was considerably slow and confusing, once you get the gist of how the hotel works, things start to spice up. Through the Oracle and Extra-Objects, you obtain a series of buffs that allow you to speed up your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought the game for the items in the points shop. Edit: The game is actually good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm disappointed with this game, main reason why being that the game contains ai generated images for the backgrounds and sadly I found this out way too late as I was enjoying the game and characters.... I initially bought this game assuming it didn't contain ai-generated content as I simply browsed over the store-page and clicked buy after seeing the trailer. However, I have seen people mentioning that the character sprites and CGs are hand drawn... so it isn't all too gloom and doom. But the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yog-Sothoth’s Yard mixes visual novel n sim management together, packed full of Lovecraftian vibes. This weird little hybrid hits so different n fresh, def worth a rec. But the flaws are pretty obvious too. Neither the writing nor the gameplay depth feels properly polished. Story’s got big grand lore behind it, but that stream-of-consciousness style makes it real hard to lock in on the core point. Gameplay-wise, early n mid game’s pretty high pressure, n everything feels super samey with barely…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do you like visual novels with cute girls to date? Do you like the Cthulhu Mythos? Do you like managment sims? I freaking love this game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a mess. The visuals are delightful, but the mechanics and how they work together are unfun at best and lazy at worst. The visual novel sections' dialogue translation is stiff to the point where I cannot tell what the difference is between choices, and the VN interactions are so frequent and disruptive that I don't get much fun out of the management sim sections of the game. This game doesn't know what it wants to be, and tries to be all of them - all at once - and without…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was excited to play this game, but after three hours of play encountered a UI screen resolution bug that would not let me progress further. I posted in the discussion group looking for a fix and sent the developers an email, to no avail as they never replied to me. Sadly, I had to request a refund. For the three hours I played, it was a fun game with a promising game loop and narrative. If you have a smaller screen, you likely won't encounter the bug. For larger screens (e.g., mine is…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The author has a shockingly in depth comprehension of not only lovecraft lore but also the occult. Gameplay wise it feels alot how lobotomy corporation first felt like with the asia jank it goes from a relaxing cozy experience where you can chill out and just relax, tO ANXIETY FREAKING OUT AM I GONNA MAKE IT TO THE DEADLINE?!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yog-Sothoth's Yard is a visual novel game. I think the game is very good in terms of the plot and characters as well as the entire action of the game. Honestly, I have nothing to complain about. The game has no bugs or other problems and as for the translation, it is not tragic and the mistakes are rather rare and when they do happen, you can somehow read the dialogue from the context. In my opinion, the translator did a good job and the game is well translated. I liked the game very much so I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story, artstyle, and characters are well done and the setting is really good. Music is also solid. I enjoy management simulators and visual novels are completely fine with me too. But dear god. The game is INCREDIBLY boring. Don't get me wrong, the interactions and story scenes with the characters were well and good. But it's just not worth it to me to sit through the most repetitive and mind-numbing gameplay I've experienced in a while. Like, it's just resource gathering, crafting, and see…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →50% visual novel 50% hotel management. I like it, the characters are fun, I found the story engaging and the hotel management is entertaining. The management part is not hard but you cant get too careless either. The english translation is fine, really. Some minor errors but it is really no big deal, I think some people exaggerate. Overall pretty chill and fun game to pass the time. PD: Little Leaf best girl. Edit: After completing my first playthrough, I felt the need to point out, the…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The English translation is MTL garbage.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun VN and management sim, the gameplay aspect becomes pretty pointless about halfway through the game so it can end up being a bit of a slog, there's also a huge lack of quality of life in terms of gameplay. The artwork is also really good! The translation is really bad, and even if it is comprehensible most of the time it makes for a much more unpleasant read than it should be, the story overall is pretty fun and the main characters have good designs and development. If you're not…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is soaked in atmosphere and has pretty art. Unfortunately, the gameplay is very stale and it's more like a visual novel. That isn't a problem on its own, as I like VNs quite a lot, but the story nor characters are particularly engaging. As far as gameplay is concerned, there's a lot of mindless clicking for resource gathering, upgrading rooms, and clicking "next." The proper way to utilize simulation gameplay is to make it strategical on some level, but there really isn't that here.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →5 / 10 A game that has hotel management, crafting, dating, food cooking, and a lot of story like a normal visual novel game. But sadly, all of them are poorly implemented, hotel management need tons of work at first but lately just some task over and over. Dating, crafting and cooking just a simple click to increase the point. Story telling are bad, especially at late game, where the game look like a normal visual novel with bad writing. Based on the timeline of the game, I've played 2/3 of the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had to drop the game right around where you get to go on a date with level 3 intimacy Yevna, because the translation is so suck@ss, to the point that I feel like reverting back to a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ protozoa. It's just an early part of the game and the translation is already that bad, I really don't wanna imagine what kind of abomination I'm gonna encounter later on, so I'm not gonna risk my mood and time for this. Will definitely come back if they decide to improve the quality of the translation…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Background extensively uses AI art. Ethical issues aside, it's super distracting as the style constantly change, and looks like ♥♥♥♥.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Grabbed this game during a Steam Sale on a whim. The description does not do this game justice. This is, quite possibly, the best Lovecraft inspired anime game, ever. I'll give the standard 1-10 ratings then give a better desc that sorta gives you an idea of the start. Story telling 9.5/10 Game play 8/10 Animation 7.5/10 Mental instability 11/10 Translation 8/10 (some grammatical hiccups but honestly adds to the charm. OK now for a better desc than this store page gives, you're inheriting…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cthulhu atmosphere, great story, cute girls, intricate alchemy and fun hotel management... Most under-rated game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Addictive! Could be overwhelming at times and some thing were a little iffy in explanation, but nothing so drastic as to take away the enjoyment of the game (so far, anyway). I'm a casual gamer with a short attention span, and this game has me low key obsessed. Love the character design as well, the spooky cutesy combo is 10/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the style, the gameplay loop is engaging but simple. it's one of those games you can sit down, play, and suddenly four hours have passed and it really didn't feel like it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game was not quite what I was expecting - not eldritch style management game with rpg elements. It’s rather very chinese title, that’s 80% very simple management sim, 15% simple dating sim, 5% minesweeper (yeah, really) and 100% grind. There is also light eldritch flair, very light. Also not everything was translated from chinese, though most was, and not everything translated was done correctly. Audio better be left unspoken for - it might have been better without it as it is.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I honestly think the game is fun and despite the AI art, I think they did a great job. However, the poor translations really push my limits to enjoying the game. I really wanted to continue building out the hotel and serving the cute guests, but I find myself treating this like a chore instead. And thus, I do not recommend this game until they completely redo the translations. There's much better AI translators nowadays that it shouldn't be a huge lift.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful and pleasant art + ost, chill gameplay. But 70+-% playtime isn't gameplay but visual novel. Plot and text isn't very interesting - weak yellow' interpretation H.P.Lovecraftalthough the mentions of various things from his work cannot but please and default anime slop. It would be possible to recommend this game but percentage of text is greatly bigger than playtime while the game is positioned as an hotel owner simulator. If you like visual novel - well, no problem, buy this game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to like this game because the gameplay is very fun. however, the visuals are nearly all AI generated. and they look BAD. character arts, background, it just sucks to look at. please hire a human artist to redo all the visuals, and the game would easily be worth twice the price its listed at now (10.99 USD)

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really really fun and enjoyable. I played through first time blind and died lol. Then I followed a guide for my second play through. Really neat mechanics. Not a huuuuuge fan of the dating sim aspects that linger in the background, but it's not really that significant in the grand scheme of the game. As a straight girl, I still enjoyed getting all the endings and the plot/gameplay thoroughly. Would highly reccommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The opening hook me real good. A nice blend of moe and mystery. I think that summed up the game for me. Art and the Characters really are the star of the game(Yevna best girl). Each heroine gets their fair share of spotlight and are all interesting even until the ending. All characters are interesting and makes you want to know them better. The world building is also very good reaching deep into Lovecraft mythos and have their own spin to it yet still easy enough to follow. Overall gameplay…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I grabbed this game absentmindedly, thinking "yeah what the hell, a hotel management dating sim, seems interesting enough." I had no idea what I was in for. This game is pretty fabulous, and I am really hoping it receives more updates over time just to polish things where necessary. I basically sat down and played it for 13 hours straight and didnt even get halfway through the game yet, because I was exploring so much. Visuals: For starters, you open up the game and the first thing you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I originally wrote a review at just under 4h of playtime and said I was probably barely scratching the surface of what this game had on offer. I now have 26h of playtime, and that includes save-scumming for endings and various achievements, without having even touched New Game+ for the achievements I'm missing yet. I can therefore say I was definitely right in my initial thoughts. Now, how you feel about that playtime is going to depend heavily on how you regard both visual novels and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This review shouldn't exist. The only flashes of memory I have are me buying this "game", downloading it, pressing the launch button and then... nothing. After what felt like a mere moment I woke up with a little over 100 hours of playtime and 100% achievements. That probably means that this "game" is very good, but since I don't even remember actually playing it, I won't be able to tell you that. Buy at your own risk

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is an absolute masterpiece, boasting a stunning storyline that make every scene a joy to experience. From the moment I started playing, the story had me completely captivated, keeping me engaged and eager to see how it all unfolded until the very end. The hotel management gameplay adds a unique and entertaining layer to the experience, offering just the right mix of strategy and fun. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Favorite part of this game was the excavation mini game which In turn taught me how to play minesweeper a game that I enjoyed more than this. Story Is quite boring from beginning to end and there are plenty of spelling errors. Hotel management section Is too simple and shallow gets really repetitive early on. Auction sections were fun the first couple of times after that they lost all tension with having ridiculous amounts of souls. The girls are cute though at the expense of everything else.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun light-lovecraftian management sim with heavy Visual Novel elements. The dating Sim stuff seems to be who you agree with during conversations so far. The game mainly reminds me of depersonalization in terms of Visuals. I'm hoping it gets more horror oriented, as it does have sudden disturbing flashes. But so far its been mostly a cozy management sim VN.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love this game. <3 I wish the alchemy system had better explanation. Basically you combine items to get an item equaling the total of the GOLD NUMBERS IN THE UPPER LEFT. It has nothing to do with the gold value. And to level up alchemy, it's best to create the needed items via this method, not the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ 3% chance formula method. Also, I wish there was voice acting.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a ten dollar game, it's actually quite good. The story is unique although the translation is a bit disjointed. Even with the flaws I would still recommend the game. It shows a lot of genuine effort and I have to give credit where credit is due. Also, I can't help but find the main heroine adorable. Especially with a name like Little Leaf.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the management aspects, but having only 1 action for day and night creates and stop and go flow that feels awful. Gacha being a core mechanic with the alchemy feels pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and frustrating when you want a certain result to progress in level. The objectives that are there guide you seem to last forever. The girls are cute and the story seems interesting so far. I feel like it might have benefited from just being a visual novel more than anything.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played this game before and achieved almost all the achievements, still a super fun game that is interesting, translation does need a bit of polishing in areas, I'd do it myself but I haven't a clue on translating. Overall, it hits the eldritch horror on the head and is relaxing.
