positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have tried to play this game many times but the interface is so terrible i cant keep trying it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's such a massive backward step from X-2 in pretty much every aspect... what a shame *Edit* After 66 hours I can honestly say it's even worse than I originally thought. The story / plot / pacing is REALLY bad, completely off. Quite often I found myself not having a clue what was going on or what I was supposed to be doing. Compare this to X-2, decent pacing, reasonably good voice acting and script writing, interesting story that develops at a normal pace and something that explains itself…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wildly sick and tired of companies continuing to sell dated games that haven't been properly remastered for modern devices. Why the hell is Steam promoting this game for their anniversary when IT DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY???? Can't adjust the graphics settings without it crashing. Gameplay was so glitchy i lasted 10 minutes and couldn't take it anymore. No tutorial either??????? They just throw you in without telling you what each key controls. WHY CREATE A GAME WHERE THE USER HAS TO LEAVE THE…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →by far the best of the X franchise, unfortunately the immediate X3 sequels were never quite as polished and 4 I find near unplayable. X2 and X3 were the peak of the franchise with X3 Reunion having superior visuals and better story line. If you want a open world space trading, combat game with mostly optional story line and base building this is the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →is not the full game some free dlc is missing so mods don't work they have still not fixed controller compatibility very lazy port of a old pc game get on cd will install fine on win 10 not happy got to save installing dvdr but still needed to to get full game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The UI is ♥♥♥♥. Utter ♥♥♥♥.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →best game I ever played that I don't think I'd recommend to most... slow, drawn out grind in the cold vast distances between stations. It has charm, certainly! I played a grillion hours before it was on steam!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →CONS: -This game is slow. Things happen at a slow pace. Set aside a good amount of time to invest if you want to play. You just don't get far in under an hour. It takes a long time to do anything, especially in the beginning. The longer you play there's opportunity to cut your travel times down significantly but that comes with upkeep and cost to consider. -Pirates attack you. Sometimes it makes sense, like you've got an undefended ship filled with expensive cargo. Sometimes you just have a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've never played this game, but apparently my dad loves it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is beyond awesome. It has the bones to be the best space simulator ever made. There are automation elements where you can autopilot your ship to do practically anything you can manually do. You can do the same with ships you own, creating vast fleets of warships that can patrol sectors to eliminate enemies or destroy a specific factions trade routes. You can use the same automation to set up your own trading empire, with factories to produce basic goods like solar energy cells up to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game but overshadowed by latter iterations of the game, mainly X3TC. Only worth playing if you want to experience the story line from X2 the threat (picks up right where it left off). Other wise do your self a favor and jump right into X3TC.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a shame, loved X2, but crashes too much to be playable on a modern high spec PC.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →X3: Reunion was certainly one of the greatest of all time space sims, taking the open universe model to new heights, with the ability for the player to own their own fleet of ships and even factories and space stations to make money for you while you play. So many great ideas, with an epic story as well as plenty of procedurally generated stuff to do, multiple alien races with their own faction reputations and ship styles... there's an almost limitless possibilities with this game.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its an old game the series is great but still suffers from random crashes, the series is now cheap but the constant crashes makes it unplayable Avoid unless you like wasting money
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nope. Sorry but No. Not recommending this game. Was looking for a deep, strategy wise playing, space game and this isn't it. Sorry, but No. Actually it might be, but between the atrocious interface, the bugs, and the downright massively slow gameplay, I found it to be just a completely frustrating experience. And I did not play for just an hour and declare it dead. No I persevered and downloaded and searched as much gameplay info as I could and it still did not save this game. Sadly…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not an expert of the X3 game series, there are people who can probably build an empire from scratch in 2 game sessions and I'm not one of them, but I have played enough of this game to review it and recommend it. Also the Linux port is as good as the original Windows version (thanks Egosoft!) The game is an incredibly vivid and well rendered universe sandbox where you can be whatever you want: a space pirate, a trader, a soldier... Pretty much anything. And there is also a marginally…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a few years ago I played on steam os, bought aircraft carrier and tl from splits, **** now the first minutes of the game - critical freezes, crashes, thanks for a good game,,,,, minus for turning off the game on non-windows os
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game with good story. Plenty of ways to play and mostly free to roam around to chose your own path, just need to finish the first few missions to gain enough reputation to be able to start buying ships to expand your fleet operations. Great graphics and good controls even for someone like me who's not good with keyboards. Only thing I didn't like was that they don't have pictures for the ships in the first buying menu like the did for X2 and they made it a little more convoluted to find…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game truly lets you be whoever you want to be in space. A smuggler, a pirate, military, sole trader or the head of a commercial empire- the choice is yours.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →X3: Reunion is an expansive and ambitious space simulation, offering the opportunity to be immersed in a vast universe filled with trade, combat, and exploration. The game's deep economy system feels well-grounded, allowing players to build trading empires from humble beginnings to vast corporate enterprises. Combat is intense and strategic, with a wide range of options for customization and mastery. Exploration is a key aspect of the game, with countless star systems to discover and explore.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a futile exercise in slow-going, micro-management tedium, which crashes frequently. In combat player ships explode with alarming regularity by doing stupid things such as turning away and flying away from enemies instead of fighting. When player ships aren't busy running away from enemies, they're crashing into things like jump gates, stations, asteroids, ships, you, themselves... Auto-pilot is a frustrating experience. Command your ship to fly somewhere, go afk to do laundry or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Originally, I wanted to recommend this game. But then it screwed me over, so I can't. On the surface, i.e. when you just want to play the main story, it's an okay shooter in space. If you go deeper, it is a vast open sandbox game with a complex economy. You can build a trade empire controlling entire sectors, fleets, space factories and stations. However, the learning curve is frustratingly massive; even when just playing the main story. And to grow an empire, you will have to spend hundreds of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →x3 is beautiful. In that regard no space-sim title, to this day, can compete with the third generation of the x series. Space is a black void. Nebulas are colourful. Lighting done right. It's just beautiful. Coupled with wide-angle camera and beautifully crafted space ambient music (most of which has been inherited from x2) the game conjures a really immersive experience. The game uses the same controls interface as the x2. If you're using a keyboard and a mouse, then it's not a good one.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the more impressively boring and badly executed games I've played in a while. The graphics are definitely a step up from X2, but the controls- are far, far worse. At least in X2 you could right click and go to help to see what to do, the community for this game suggests you need to open up the manual file that came with the install and figure things out yourself with no tutorial or anything; unlike with the previous installment as well. There isn't even a flight school tutorial like…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally figured out how to set up the controls to be normal like Freelancer and not-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-obtuse... and now that I'm learning how to interact with space stations and can fly/fight like normal I'm looking forward to exploring this world. Here's my thoughts on salvaging these GODAWFUL control and UI schemes: First, remember that right clicking enters and exits interaction with menus.... this will save you some rage. The controls tab appears to have nothing but joystick controls, BUT click on…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →X3 Reunion is a great game, if you considering it by its own. A large living universe, dynamic economy, many ways of earning money suitable to all kinds of players and, of course, many ways to spend money. Make money by doing bonty hunting or capturing pirate ships! Want to whipe out the evil Xenon from the universe? Go buy a couple of destroyers (if you are wealthy enough) and kill them all. Take their sector for yourself, use patrol ships to eliminate their reinforcements! Not interested in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best games I have ever X-perienced...nothin else need B said, save for thank u Egosoft for fond memories!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game crashes after placing any complex bigger than 80 stations.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worst controls ever, you would need entire volumes of tomes to describe how awful it is properly. They should teach new programmers how NOT TO do controls / UI in games using X3 as an example. Worst interface ever, just plain stupid layout, menus in menus in menus. No tutorial of any kind. On my 4K display, ui is so small it is unreadable / unplayable. This game aged very very poorly. You might have better luck actually flying a space shuttle.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Picked this up on Steam around a decade after I first played it. Sure, this game may be from 2005, crash every few hours, and have an interface made predominantly of spaghetti and pain, but it has more depth and complexity than Elite: Dangerous could ever hope to. The simulation is a mile wide, but also a mile deep. You can actually fulfil the fantasy of owning a massive space empire of factories and fleets, and if the universe so decides, it will make you fight to protect it too.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →serious problems of incompatibility with MacOS (Sierra 10.13.4). The esc or p key causes the game to close. If you stop in mac with the program open it is impossible to log in. You can not configure controllers other than the joystick. Not recommended !!!!!!!!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the idea of the x series, and as a new player, the initial impression isn't user friendly at all. It's took me 34 minutes to find the message log (the keyboard shortcut of which doesn't want to work) and move (at full ship speed) from the center of the starting area to and through the north gate to (I assume) another sector. There doesn't seem to be a tutorial that i can see. That or i'm in the tutorial and it is very bad at getting the instructions across. Theres a mesage log which…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →after the learning curve and figuring out the interface properly... 40 hours in and i THINK, i have it all down... but no tutorial aside... what an amazing game! definately a must play! I recommend this to everyone!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →X3: Reunion from Egosoft is a space simulation that fully commits to the idea of player-driven freedom, offering a universe that feels less like a guided experience and more like an open-ended system waiting to be understood and shaped. Rather than funneling players through tightly scripted missions, it drops them into a sprawling network of sectors connected by jumpgates and lets them decide what kind of life they want to build among the stars. Whether that means becoming a trader, a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is well ahead of it's time. I am a CEO and it helps train your mind to explore what others do not. Try this game as a empire builder you will enjoy the process.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a game you can play and explore forever
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mixed bag, the Sandbox is alright, but there are already better Versions of that. (X3 Albion prelude and probably Rebirth) The Story Missions have dozens of unskippable cutscenes which can (or rather will more often than not) crash the game. Here's the very fun part about that: those cutscenes can come one right after another. It's not exactly fun watching half a minute of badly voice acted cutscene just to have the game crash at the start of the next so you can rewatch the first. Also bugs in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(Played this before it came to Steam.) Despite improved graphics I felt that this was a downgrade from X2: The Threat. I only soldiered through because it continued the story from X2. I must say that the story is decent in a corny way. The characters are pretty hilarious. There is a bit of a sense of tension and mystery amongst the juvenile humor. It's pretty much the last Egosoft game with a campaign done in this wacky, dumb but somehow still charming style - X3: TC takes itself more…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yes, more so over games like Eve-Online, as real-life money cannot be used to buy in-game assets like it can there.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I know that it's somewhat pointless to write a bad review to such an old game, but maybe you are curious about this game, the story and such. Since I cannot play X4, and I enjoyed X-Rebirth, and found X2 to be okeish, I decided to give X3 a try... Huge mistake! There's this massive problem with this game: It doesn't teaches you how to play it. So you have to always look up the key binding in the controls menu. But not only that, the controls are different depending if you an interface open…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So i bought the game had some fun learning machanics made some poor choices so wanted to start a new game, and the game crashes and refuses to let me play unless i load old game terrible!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →55 minutes of gameplay and its already crashing. Draw your own conclusions.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really tried, but the interface in this game is the worst and most convoluted of any game I've ever played on any system and quite honestly the investment in time it would take to grasp let alone master it is not worth it in the end.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great Game Good Replayability Worth The Money Spent Good Graphics Indepth Controls Hardcore Game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR - Not recommended unless you’re playing it for completion’s sake. X2 and X3:Terran Conflict are better experiences. If you’re exploring the X-Universe, I’d suggest playing X2, then skipping straight to Terran Conflict. My Steam hours are not correct as didn't run the game though Steam. I probably have 60+ hours of gametime. I completed the story and did all the missions to get my own HQ. I ran the EXE directly with a limit of 2 CPU cores as this improved stability and performance a bit,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The absolute worst purchase I have ever made. Half of the hotkeys don't do crap, the game has zero tutorial, and absolutely the worst damn design I've seen in a game period. Five damn hours and it's a fight to even do the most basic of things. Hope this company goes bankrupt. - Another six hours and my opinion hasn't changed. Google wont even save you with this trash.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A really fun space trading game. It has easy automated ship navigation and fast travel. Controls are very easy to learn and everything but ship combat can be done with just the keyboard or just the mouse or both. All keys can be re-configured to your desired keys. It's also has a nice relaxing space opera atmosphere and the story-line is interesting with relatable characters.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a wonderful game, but I came in during Terran Conflict, i got use to the menus, and I found out even though the story seemed like alot of fun, i could not enjoy it for the UI. I want to try to force myself to play this again for the story. Their are so many unique things to do in this game from lottos, to racing, Egosoft put alot of love into the game. But as usual they struggle with the UI.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An exercise in frustration. Terrible AI pathfinding that causes your ships to crash and burn wasting all your money. Countless bugs too. You can't get money easily at the start so you can't fix your ship if the hull is damaged in the starter missions but then you can't progress because your ship is too slow to fight. So instead you start a new game spend a couple hours trying to get pirates to bail their ships so you can claim and sell them. You spend this money on a pathetic "hauler" that…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you don't mind drifting through space with a billion different options for what you can do but nearly 0 direction, this is the game for you. Become a nomad, become a trader, become a pirate, or a cop, or something else. Or become nothing. Nobody will tell you what to do, and nobody will care if you die. This game is endless. If you want to play a space sim where you really feel like you're living in space, you could do a lot worse. You can ignore the 'missions' and play as if it isn't even a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So, I reckoned I'd give this a squiz before diving into x4. For future contenders, here are my tips: Tip 1: Disable Realtek High Definition Audio. My eardrums are still learning their lesson. Imagine meeting someone for the first time and they full on blew airhorns right against both sides of your head. Tip 2: Buy 50x reading glasses. The UI does not scale. (This would be funny if I was old, but I'm in my 30s FFS) Tip 3: Find a tutorial on youtube. There's a reason why this is so…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the gui is rly small for 1080p screens
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would love to play this the concept is great but the mechanics are so bad I used to play one version of this and built a empire but this time or this version I give up. So I get pirate to bail out and I try to claim his ship but it wont let me then trying to get back in my ship it wont let me then I get so close I collide and die. This is just the last of many bugs that make the game not playable.

BIG universe, MULTIPLE different races, EACH having AT LEAST 10 ship types in different configurations, huge economy, which let you build your own empire - ALL THAT AND MORE, AND THATS ALL FOR SINGLE-PLAYER! You get it? No DLC: a race we cut out from the game" for 50% of the price, but everything at once! No bethesdian-falloutian-style "here are ALL 8 SHIPS FOR YOU TO PLAY", but an entire set of them! No "you gotta be online, cause otherwise the AI is…
