Wild Tales
Injustice and the demands of the world can cause stress for many people. Some of them, however, explode. This includes a waitress serving a grouchy loan shark, an altercation between two motorists, an ill-fated wedding reception, and a wealthy businessman who tries to buy his family out of trouble. unlabelledView post →This movie is so Latin American and European too. It's similar in tone to Wild Tales and Love's A Bitch and I get why it doesn't seem to have been much of a hit with americans
unlabelledView post →THE DRAMA: essentially an anti-romcom ie my kind of film (see also 1997's ADDICTED TO LOVE). Climaxes with most fucked-up wedding since Argentinian portmanteau film WILD TALES (2014) (not Brazilian, as it says here) which you should def watch if you enjoy sick humour & haven't already seen it.

unlabelledView post →#MovieReview #WildTales #RelatosSalvajes #Argentina Wasn't sure what to expect going into a short story compilation but this movie is great. Wild Tales is in Spanish, filmed in Argentina, directed by Damián Szifron. Think of it kind of like Black Mirror in a way. A collection of stories about 'distressed' people and the sometimes hilarious absurdities it leads to. You won't regret watching this one.
unlabelledView post →Argentinian film and TV scripts are actually the most cathartic pieces of text you could experience. I mean, Wild Tales alone is catharsis made into film, but most media has that climax where characters cuss the SHIT out of everybody and Rioplatense Spanish just sounds beautiful when angry.

unlabelledView post →Here's a random movie recommendation: "Relatos Salvajes"/"Wild Tales" directed by Damián Szifron, an Spanish-Argentinian movie from 2014 in a sort of anthology format, it has a couple of dark comedy moments as well for good measure.
unlabelledView post →In fact there's an entire segment in the amazing anthology movie Wild Tales where a demolitions expert loses his mind over a kickback scheme that sees him victimized by a towing company.
unlabelledView post →Thanks to #filmcast podcast - I'll be watching To Catch a Killer very soon. I did not know it has the same director as Wild Tales. Wild Tales has the best movie opening ever. You know you are in for a treat after Pasternak then it sticks the landing with the the wedding short.

With clockwork precision it sets up a lot of interesting possibilities in the first half and then forgets about all of them. A real Chekov’s Display Cabinet of a film.

unlabelledView post →I'm going to guess the first two? If I could recommend any of them for anyone to watch, it would be Nine Queens. Splendid heist movie with wonderful buddy dynamics and a beautiful twist. Except Wild Tales, the rest are slower and need more mental chewing to digest.

unlabelledView post →You might not want to watch this film if you've ever dated anyone called Pasternak! It seems in the best traditions of Agatha Christie, this persecuted, unloved and jilted character has managed to assemble just about everyone in his life who has irked him onto an aircraft and guess who's flying the plane? That's the first of six segments that illustrate human nature, usually at it's comically worst, over the next two hours. A roadside diner sees a plot amongst the staff to rid themselves of a…
