Especially to Leslie Jones, who was harassed with some of the most vile, disgusting racist garbage over this film, in addition to the misogyny all the women got. This was always a good film, but a lot of y’all were blinded by rage-bait to realise it.
positive · AI labelView post →For those coming around to how cool @marcmaron.bsky.social is, watch the movie To Leslie. Such a good actor to, and the role is perfect for him. A kind of wisdom and compassion in the character that is tailor made for performer
positive · AI labelView post →I have a very very very very very very very high opinion of Ghostbusters which is an excellent film, much higher than the absurd revisionist idea that it's nothing special and actually pretty bad actually which emerged bc people were dicks to Leslie Jones about it not bc of the movie itself.
neutral · AI labelView post →New Naked Gun was the funniest movie ive seen in years. I was crying laughing. There's a very nice tribute to Leslie Nielsen at one point in the movie i thought was really cute. They didn't use AI or CG to recreate him and im so fucking glad for that
neutral · AI labelView post →cannot recommend the movie To Leslie (it’s on Netflix too) enough. I’ve posted repeatedly about how great a film it is, but my love of it has only grown over time. One of many amazing things about it is how it show, better than any other movie I can think of, how much addiction creates a situation…
positive · AI labelView post →Casting Liam Neeson as the follow-up to Leslie Nielsen is either the most inspired or most tone-deaf choice for deadpan slapstick comedy but I gotta be honest I can't wait to find out which.
neutral · AI labelView post →Alright. Second movie of my 5 hour flight: The Naked Gun. I have real high expectations of anyone trying to pay homage to Leslie Nielsen. But it opened real strong. Then a perfect OJ reference. I am impressed. 4/5 🌈
neutral · AI labelView post →I thought I had gone a little mad with the background and outfit to Leslie Howard in the 1934 film 'Scarlet Pimpernel', but looking closer it all fits.
neutral · AI labelView post →The trailer for FORBIDDEN PLANET refers to Leslie Nielsen as a "young man." I mean, he was but he also one of those dudes that looked middle aged even when he was young. Do miss the ballyhoo of old movie trailers. They really wanted to sell you on this stuff. youtu.be/AxQ9GG6hUDM?...
neutral · AI labelView post →TIL that the director of the new Bridget Jones movie also directed To Leslie.
neutral · AI labelView post →To Leslie is a terrific movie and everybody should watch it
positive · AI labelView post →Big shout out to Leslie for backing the campaign! You are an indie film CHAMPION!!
neutral · AI labelView post →A courtroom in session listening to Leslie Nielsen singing to himself while pissing is one of the funniest things in film history. And then there's the bribery scene.

neutral · AI labelView post →Yeah. I think of what happened to Leslie Jones over that Ghostbusters movie. She was supposed to just suck it up. It’s horrible
neutral · AI labelView post →The funniest part was casting someone with a name that's similar to Leslie Neilsen. A good bit, but not enough to carry the movie.
neutral · AI labelView post →Do you think they decided on Liam Neeson for the new Naked Gun movie strictly because he’s the current actor whose name is phonically closest to Leslie Nielsen?
neutral · AI labelView post →In the film, yes. His stage performance in 1956 was much closer to Leslie Howard's take, amazingly.
neutral · AI labelView post →Hell yeah! I think Liam Neeson will do a good job at having that deadpan serious style that Leslie Nielson had. But I also like to think that they picked Liam Neeson because his name is the closest of any Hollywood actor's to Leslie Nielson, because that amuses me. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8-N...
neutral · AI labelView post →It's #worlddraculaday - here are some scores from film & TV adaptations (some more faithful than others, and including Nosferatus); from Lugosi to Lee to Langella to ... Leslie Nielsen! and also some people not beginning with L.
neutral · AI labelView post →I know I post about this movie a lot now, but I cannot recommend last year’s To Leslie (now on Netflix) enough. Don’t remember the last time a movie tore my heart out this much. Please go watch, happy weekend.
positive · AI labelView post →Explaining to my space alien friend, whose only exposure to earth culture is a DVD of the original Naked Gun, who Liam Neeson is and why he’s a very fitting and novel successor to Leslie Nielsen and that I think he’d like the new movie.
neutral · AI labelView post →No way this Naked Gun could ever come close to Leslie Nielsen's Naked Gun. But the end of this one-minute trailer is something to watch.
neutral · AI labelView post →I respectfully disagree on the grounds that I was introduced to Leslie Nielsen as a serious actor and that many serious actors have deadpan comedy in them and this scene

positive · AI labelView post →To Leslie, such a beautiful movie that I can’t stop thinking about, and I’m sorry but… Andrea Riseborough deserved to win that Oscar instead :)
positive · AI labelView post →Oooo def see Flux Gourmet (or his earlier film Berberian Sound Studio.) I did not like To Leslie, but I also don’t like Hallmark-like redemption arc stories. Please Baby Please would be my Andrea Riseborough go-to (it’s exceedingly precious but I love it)
negative · AI labelView post →Watching the movie To Leslie and it opens with Dolly's "Here I Am," which is a nice surprise. Andrea Riseborough is always great in what I've seen her in.

positive · AI labelView post →He is the closes to Leslie Nielsen we have today that can probably work within parody It's just redefining what Parody is after the movie movie range we got... I want this to work.
neutral · AI labelView post →#NowWatching2025 To Leslie (2022) Decided to watch a small film with a giant heart... so they say.
neutral · AI labelView post →He has definitely drunk plenty of the Trump Fool Ade; Its sort of like the start to Leslie Nielsen's Naked Gun movie where all the bad guys in the world are sitting around the same table plotting the world takeover. It'd be funny if it wasn't so scary
neutral · AI labelView post →Real talk. My take on this is that it’s too bad the dirty deed done to Leslie Grace didn’t inspire as much film commentariat sympathy as the one done to a cartoon canis latrans, and I wasn’t as impressed by Vs Acme as many but any fuck you aimed at Zaslav is worth amplifying.
neutral · AI labelView post →Happy birthday to Leslie Uggams, born today in 1943. An American actress and singer, in fandom she is known for her appearances as Blind Al in the Deadpool superhero film franchise and Betty Pearson in the Amazon Original post-apocalyptic drama series Fallout. #LeslieUggams
neutral · AI labelView post →Very fun to be listening to Leslie quoting from a website that also talked about the movie and suddenly going, "Hey those sound like my words. Wait those ARE my words!" 😄
neutral · AI labelView post →(Delayed reply) In ‘To Leslie’, Andrea Riseborough gives a monster performance (in an OK film) which put me very much in mind of Agnes Bain, and Halley (Mom) from The Florida Project.
neutral · AI labelView post →Saturday: The Naked Gun (2025) Just realized they might have cast Liam Neeson for the main role specifically because his name is similar to Leslie Nielson. boxd.it/aFynNd
neutral · AI labelView post →The Naked Gun (2025) maybe the greatest homage to Leslie Nielsen’s comedy ever, but no nude firearms appear in the film, so unfortunately it only gets a 9/10.
positive · AI labelView post →I just saw The Naked Gun 2025 and I have to say this movie was absolutely hilarious and I definitely thought Liam Neeson as Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. Is definitely really funny in the movie and definitely a great successor to Leslie Nelson in the original trilogy of naked gun
positive · AI labelView post →The Naked Gun 2025 movie is a loving homage to Leslie Nielsen's original, played to perfection by Liam Neeson. Watch this for silly, dumb jokes that lighten your mood and keep you entertained. www.themoviejunkie.com/post/the-nak...
neutral · AI labelView post →I didn't actually know who he was when I was hired. At first I thought it was for an actor in some local theater thing. Then I found out his name and mentioned it to Leslie, who kind of flipped out. Turns out it was to prep for the movie, Prisoners.

neutral · AI labelView post →I watched Batman Forever (not a fan) a few days after he passed and kept thinking of him potentially drawing from the well of this film. After digesting it for the first time in about 30 years, I think his Batman was akin to Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin.
neutral · AI labelView post →DUDE, THEY'RE GONNA BE RELEASING A NEW NAKED GUN MOVIE?! I hope Liam Neeson lives up to Leslie Nielsen's comedy chops.
neutral · AI labelView post →Is To Leslie the first film ever nominated that consists of nothing but Oscar clips?
neutral · AI labelView post →No, I think that was To Leslie, which I'd also like to see. This is low budget Northern Ireland movie and she pulls the accent off well.
neutral · AI labelView post →[email protected] wraps up her trip to L.A. by speaking with Sean Baker and the Anora team, who reveal painstaking details of their production. neutral · AI labelView post →This tidbit might have made the NBC suits skittish in the current environment: "According to Leslie Caron, the film ran into controversy with the Hays Office over her dance sequence with a chair, calling it "sexually provocative," surprising Caron, who answered "What can you do with a chair?"
neutral · AI labelView post →6. To Leslie (2022) Rough. Great performances, but all centered around a woman who I consider my worst case scenario future. At least Marc is around to break some of the misery.
negative · AI labelView post →Wrote about #ToLeslie. It's bizarre there was a controvery about the oscar nomination, since it's exactly the kind of #film you'd expect to get an #Oscar nomination. https://www.splicetoday.com/moving-pictures/to-leslie-is-exactly-the-kind-of-film-that-wins-oscars
positive · AI labelView post →Scary Movie has not been funny since 2 and of the other Movie Movies I would say only Superhero was worthy a chuckle, 99% of the time due to Leslie Nielsen.

neutral · AI labelView post →Andrea Riseborough has been deliberately snubbed because of her nomination tactics around “To Leslie” (a really good film) or “Please Baby Please”. Can’t remember which. Evidently one is not supposed to push being nominated if one is the producer/director. Harry Melling is a revelation.
positive · AI labelView post →Yep....that's the fantastic actress Mary McCormack holding my book "40 YEARS, 40 FILMS!"
