60 of 78 · most liked firstI really want to like this. The characters are fun and flavorful with good voice acting. The idea is really neat. The character mods, level up Aces, party management, events all seem like theyre in the general right direction, if a bit underdeveloped. Upgrades and ultimates are mostly neat. But the gameplay is just straight ass. The most unforgiving enemy hitboxes, enemies that uncrouch and fire in the same frame, and most egregious of all: enemies immediately spot you from across the map,…

unlabelledView post →Glad to see more coverage of Wild Bastards, a game that I feel is severely underrated and whose recent Steam reviews suggest a player base that doesn't really 'get' it. Void Bastards and Wild Bastards are a couple of the most wonderful Rogue-Lites out there.
unlabelledView post →Same main problem with the previous game. It really shouldn't have been a roguelike. A lot of the mechanics and story would just work better without all the rng and procedural generation. But unlike void bastards this game is just not fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanna kick myself for not trying Void Bastards sooner. It's been sitting in my Steam Library for a while, I decided to boot it up since I bought Wild Bastards. I'm normally not a fan of roguelites but this game pulled me in!
unlabelledView post →The highest compliment I can pay a game is this; Wild Bastards made me feel the way Borderlands used to make me feel.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is such a disappointment compared to Void Bastards. I purchased this game on sale for less than a third of what it usually goes for and still feel robbed.

Truly another big week of cool video game launches 🤯
unlabelledView post →Wild Bastards (followup, but not sequel to Void Bastards) is a hugely underrated game, IMO. A cartoon space-western roguelite FPS with a ton of very varied playable characters and a great sense of humor. It's very different from its predecessors and people wanted more of the same, but it's good!
unlabelledView post →Oh HELLO, I recognize that style Yes I will take another game from the Void Bastards and Wild Bastards people (though I'm sad this isn't called Godzone Bastards, alas)
unlabelledView post →Man this one hurts to write because I had such high hopes for this game. The game is a roguelike where you collect new characters and add them to your posse. Thats it, thats the entire game. Theres not really a story besides some idle chatter. Theres a pointless board game with moves that just seems to waste a bunch of time, you collect some stuff, then you spawn on a small map and just have to kill the 4-10 people that spawn there. Theres 4-5 total environments, all of which are basically…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It feels like im missing something. The gameplay is boring :/, the fights are bad and unfair, the mechanics and characters feels simple, or uncomplete. I constantly felt like if you added a little more depth to some mechanics it would be such a good game, a shame. And i gotta complain specially on the way you interact with the levels, like, moving around the maps with restricted turns and moving distance is cool, plus you add the rush of the boss, but you rapidly see all of it. Then you add…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I see a lot of reviewers complaining that this is not Void Bastards. Well, it is definitely not. First and foremost—this is not an immersive-sim roguelite. This is an FPS roguelite (with lite RPG elements). Comparing it to Void Bastards is wrong because, despite having the same devs and similar visual style and premise, the core of the game is totally different, and the gameplay is something else completely. Is Wild Bastards a good roguelite FPS? It is interesting for sure, but sometimes I…

unlabelledView post →I enjoyed Void Bastards even though it had some flaws. After about a half hour with Wild Bastards, I feel like the developers decided to focus on the negatives from Void Bastards and build off that. I think the biggest appeal to Void Bastards was that you explore each ship in an imsim setting. You find the exit, do you risk exploring for more? Do you just leave right there? Every step was impactful and meaningful. In Wild Bastards, you just land in a small map and are told, "Find these 6 bad…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not going to refund this game, because I want to reward the devs for Void Bastards. But this ain't it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It feels like a big step down from Void Bastards (which I enjoyed). Plays really slow and the maps seem really dull and uninteresting. Hope you enjoy it more than I did - wait for a sale to pick it up.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hate to be like "the problem is that it's bad," but that is the problem. I loved Void Bastards. A grimy, nihilistic looter that encourages you to circumvent problems when you're not crashing straight through. And I do like Wild Bastards' visual presentation---mostly. Its environments are full of little niches you have to check, and they don't look nearly interesting enough to have to scan hundreds of them to clear each map. Wild Bastards changes up its looter runner gameplay for western…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got an email about a sponsorship for Wild Bastards! A game that I'm excited for! but it's been sent by some promoter outfit that's "AI-Driven"... Ew. If that's the only platform they're going through then that sucks for me, I guess. I'm not about to work with that.
unlabelledView post →horrible! I paid 7$ and still feel ripped off. They had such an amazing formula with Void Bastards but they took the most frustrating elements of that game and turned it into one. The rng in Void made it tense and fun. The rng in this makes it feel frustrating and broken. The world is less interesting. The maps are less interesting. The character's are honestly less interesting then the non-voiced player characters of the original. I pray the go back to Void's formula and make second…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I absolutely adored Void Bastards despite being a flawed game. Wild Bastards is just not working out, the actual gameplay is complete garbage. Void Bastards did suffer from pretty basic combat but there were a lot more mechanics in play that made the entire experience more compelling. Wild Bastards leans heavily into combat and it's simply not good. The board game elements outside of the combat arenas aren't that engaging and you're mostly spending time in small maps with subpar…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this one is right up my alley: FTL travel system Void Bastards shooting mechanics Land travel that kind resembles Pathway I understand its not for everyone and its kind of a slight departure from what Void Bastards offered, but I enjoy it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is not an FPS game and I feel it is deceptively named and marketed. Void Bastards was a rogue like FPS with decent mechanics. This is a visual novel gluing together a board game with the cracks filled in by a bare bones hide and seek fps minigame. There is a tremendous amount of yapping and board game stuff and inventory and dialogs and interfaces, I am spam clicking 50+ times to get to gameplay. The shooting segments are not fun. They're big open randomly decorated areas with a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oof, reading this took me back. I still wish we could've had the circa-2010 XCOM FPS that 2K Australia envisioned. Glad some of that tactical + immersive sim spirit lives on in Void Bastards and Wild Bastards. www.pcgamer.com/games/action...

unlabelledView post →I can't fathom the developers playing this and actually enjoying the shooting parts. The AI is simpler than Wolfenstein, enemies just randomly walk around, watching allies they'll just bump into walls and idle randomly. Most of the weapons/characters are completely useless, like the six shooters that have bullet drop after 2 feet and don't seem to shoot anywhere near the crosshair. Or the fire weapon that's used by a guy that's made of fire, but somehow not immune to it. And the fact that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Void Bastards really was an enjoyable, fun and great experience... This, on the other hand, is not. From the wonky difficulty, to the needlessly punishing mechanics, it is just unpleasant to play.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Void Bastards was waaaaaay better. This one did not catch me at all. I wish they would rather do Void Bastards 2, that would be AMAZING! (and please add HOLD to Crouch, toggle-only option is really annoying)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After playing other games this just cannot compete with such a slow pace. With the slow fragile characters you basically have to plod along looking for a solution. This gets pretty tedious quickly. Not to mention the game seems determined to deny you fun. With things like characters having feuds, so they can sit in the cockpit together but refuse to fight on the same planet(?! make that make sense.) and scattering your new character so you don't get to try them out. It actively dodges being fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Enjoyable shooter wish there was more to the story though. I suggest getting it on a sale $35 is a bit much for this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While core gameplay loop is fun the awful map layouts and random enemy spawns is what kills it for me. Too many times i was have a sniping duel with a enemy only for another enemy with a shotgun to teleport up a ladder (there's no climbing animation or climbing sound effect) and i would die in a nano second because you have to rely on the enemy yelling at you in order to keep track of them. Void Bastards is a way better game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wild Bastards is great if you're looking for some quick FPS action with interesting abilities and a variety of scenarios. The player will move around on a world map and engage in battles or interact with POIs from there; so It's not just one long FPS. In a sense that makes it the perfect "quick gaming break" option. Once you've figured out the mechanics and gotten past the learning curve, it will reward both tactical cleverness and guns-blazing-bravado. I agree with those who said…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Frankly find it really frustrating, especially when compared to their last game. I get that levelling up will improve characters but their accuracy is so p**s poor to begin with it's not fun to play them. Some real odd design choices where you literally have to stand on people to hit them (snake/dynamite). Starting a map where you may or may not have the team you pick as they "scatter" Constant on/off feuds so you an't beam some player with others which makes it a chore Has great potential,…

unlabelledView post →kinda fun but the levels are all pretty small and repetetive. also some of the enemy types are just bad, one that poisons you and runs away. super annoying and time wasting. game looks cool. wish it was more of a borderlands feel where you just have an ability you can use so often. not having to run around and grabbed pickups. also they make the judge look good in the preview but when you actually use him he has one bullet and if you miss you are stuck with a reallllyy long reload.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I adored Void Bastards, and was really looking forward to this game as a result. However, this game has none of what made Void Bastards special. To the point that it doesn't feel like it was made by the same people. I am sure there is a decent game in here somewhere, but I couldn't find it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Here's my D&D character in the Wild Bastards art style, please give that game a try if you get the chance - the characters are all worth it! #wildbastards #characterart :o)
unlabelledView post →Should have named it "Wet Noodles" because this is what it feels. Calling this a "Void Bastards" successor is just unhinged. Void Bastards had a perfectly balanced gunplay, every mistake of weapon choice or encounter choice was 95% entirely on you (random sometimes can screw you over). You could rely on your aiming and weapon knowledge skills and gear / weapons progression felt rewarding with every upgrade. I finished the game with 54/55 challenges and 100% steam achievements TWICE NOW, that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feels like a big step down compared to Void Bastards. Instead of exploring a ship and scavenging resources in a imsim kinda way, you're just dumped into an open map with a few enemies instantly aggroed onto you and have to kill everything to continue. Then when you do the mission instantly ends and you go back to the map screen. This is really shallow gameplay, but it might be fine if the FPS combat was fun. It's not.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Originally I was having fun with it, but then that quickly dragged down when I got further into the game. Most of the characters aren't fun to play when they have nothing. The only two characters that felt fun were the gambling robo with his shotgun since many pellet and then the Judge with his sniper because it's dang near a one hit kill. Everything else about this game makes it feel like it wanted to be like a, as someone else put it, a narrative shooter masked in roguelike clothing. It…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hate to be that guy and believe me i tried to like the game, but its just nowhere near as good as Void Bastards is. Some people may enjoy it, but its clearly not for me
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved Void Bastards but this one just isn't doing it for me. There is something loose about the shooting and the interfaces costs are crazy! It takes so many loading screens and separate map movements just to get to a few minutes of gameplay. I like roguelikes but you have to keep the pace up or it can get tedious.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really want to like this game: it looks good it has some systems that could be fun with a little improvement but overall this game feels like its developed by 2 people, overpriced, unbalanced & unfinished. If you can get this game for 3-7€ its ok but i even played games that were priced between 1-10€ which were better. Considering that the normal price of this game is 35€ however this is an Donald Trump level ripoff. Steam should really consider delisting games that try to ripoff their…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall, this game is pretty fun...though a bit repetitive in the long run, just rinse and repeat on higher difficulties. Pro's: -The graphics, artistic style, the characters and the dialogue are all rather special. -Though some of the dialogue is very limited. I think Roswell can only say, "Was that really necessary?" Con's (insignificant to overall enjoyment): - Limited dialogue for some characters - Rinse and repeat game play - Some functions felt a clunky, for example one could not hit…

unlabelledView post →3. Wild Bastards A new game on the list! It's kind of crazy that I glommed onto it because I'm normally very weak with FPSes, but the character writing and design are sooooo choice. Too bad the plot takes a nosedive near the end.
unlabelledView post →A shallow, empty feeling game. I really enjoyed the previous game, Void Bastards, so I grabbed this in a sale thinking it would be worth it. It was not. They removed all the style, substance, strategy and story from the first game and created this mess.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked Void Bastards, the cat and mouse element of it was cool. This game feels like the next step up: you're the cat, but there's a fox out there coming to get you (the Princes). I just finished the campaign and am getting into the challenges, and I'm having a great time. The only big downside is that several of the characters are considerably better than others: Fletch, Judge, and Sarge are all leagues better than every other character, while Rawhide is pretty much just a walking passive…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very underrated gem, it one of the funniest and the most adtictive fps on stream. The graphichs are great and the cast of charcet is funny. The gameplay is amazing, an fps with tachtical elements, where your decisions really matters. A must play, one of the best fps released in the last years, origianl and super adictive!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Blue Manchu delivers again. A successor to Void Bastards, Wild Bastards keeps the cool visual style and roguelike elements while adding so much more. The comic book style, the great use of color, and the sci-fi western atmosphere make the game beautiful to look at. It's a roguelike that combines strategic planning and FPS action brilliantly. There are 13 characters, each with unique gunplay, strengths and weaknesses, stunts, and playstyles. They fight in duos, and their skills, stunts, weapons,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The rogue-like structure of having many different characters to traverse maps and actively swap between during combat has merits, but Wild Bastards is full of annoyances. The characters feel super fragile and can die easily if you’re ambushed. The “feud” system that blocks pairs of characters that die together can be very limiting. I’m at a point now where so many characters hate each other that I can’t take many of them with me at once. This has led to a downward spiral of disadvantage, death,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good Game But Somehow Shallow The game forces you to play almost all characters regularly and combine them, although this combinations wheren't that usefull in my playthrough. The gunpay is fun for almost all characters, specially for the initial and best designed ones, although getting in cover or dodging attacks is a dodgy buisness, meaning that on harder difficulties you can get easily overrun or killed by Mc Neil or his relatives. Music and level design are pretty good, and to top it off…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved void bastards, but: • This game I just can't get into the gunplay, it feels clunky and slow paced. I can also more easily and reliably hit distant targets with a shotgun than I can with twin revolvers, which means the guns don't perform as expected for me. • The overworld feels mostly inconsequential when on a planet, I will almost always just choose to fight my way to the objectives • Getting stronger being based around dying and accumulating aces feels yucky, as if I'm encouraged to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm sorry, I loved the previous game, but looking for enemies at night on a randomized map, knowing that you probably won't make it since helth kits are super rare, is just not fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sure the characters are pretty and all, but the game is flawed. Early parts of the game are rough difficulty wise 'till you get a steady stream of upgrades coming. But once you do get that momentum, things start feeling repetitive. You realize that, to get good, you don't have to visit every planet you fly past like the game forces you to. Your real power comes from the temporary powerups "mods" you get that last a sector (group of planets). Now that's a good design don't get me wrong, but…
