Watch the 2023 Argentinian horror movie When Evil Lurks, it remains one of my favourite movies of recent years, relentlessly bleak, shockingly gory, and fascinating mythology of its own. Look up nothing about it, trust me.

It has demonic possession as a contagious disease and some of the most full-on scenes I've seen for a while (one in particular - you'll know it when it happens). I like 😀 #Moviesky #HorrorSky 📽️

Sometimes I like a movie with scenes of explicit violence and gore. Be warned.
unlabelledView post →Rewatching the best horror film of 2023. Fresh, imaginative, and utterly unnerving. You’ve heard of tension so thick you could cut it with a knife? This tension you couldn’t cut with a chainsaw. Raw, unflinching, almost unbearably bleak. Demian Rugna’s WHEN EVIL LURKS. We need more Rugna films!

unlabelledView post →The Last Gateway (2007): Stuart Gordon-type whackadoodlery made for roughly eight bucks by the writer/director of Terrified and When Evil Lurks. That's it, that's the whole pitch; a surprising amount of gross, gory fun, as befits a movie in which a gate to hell opens up in some poor dude's stomach.
unlabelledView post →Man, they weren’t kidding about that Argentinian horror movie, “When Evil Lurks”. That was one of the most vicious films I’ve seen in years. The word I keep coming back to is unsentimental. It does not care. A truly doomed world with vast lore largely obscured. Absolutely rad. Watch. This. Film.

Excellent movie, albeit with some scenes that will stick with me in ways I don't necessarily appreciate. Approach with caution.
unlabelledView post →#NowWatching When Evil Lurks Since The Last Drive-in won’t be starting up for a while, I’m checking out one of the movies that was shown during the Nightmareathon. From what I’ve heard, it’s a pretty unsettling film.
unlabelledView post →When Evil Lurks (2023). Brutal, mean, nasty, bleak horror movie.
unlabelledView post →When Evil Lurks (2023), directed and written by Demián Rugna, starring Ezequiel Rodríguez and Demián Salomón. 4/5 stars. Rugna is perhaps the best horror director we have right now. His films FEEL like how a horror film should, always raising the gruesome stakes while never chinsing out for shlock
unlabelledView post →Believe the hype on this one. While I think I enjoyed the director's previous film, TERRIFIED, more - WHEN EVIL LURKS makes so many smart decisions with such a simple premise. I'm happy that horror movies can still surprise me sometimes. Highly recommended. (Shudder)

Speaking of, anyone who knows will, I’m sure, notice that a lot of my watches are from All the Haunts be Ours. Perfect time of year to dig more deeply into them. 1 — Edge of the Knife (2019)* Really exceptionally done, I enjoyed it more than I anticipated. Excellent cinematography, well-paced, and very unique. Can’t believe I…

unlabelledView post →WHEN EVIL LURKS is brutal, gory, and violent. It’s a really tense piece of cinema from the very beginning. Demián Rugna has really established himself as top notch horror director. The film does not hold anything back. It really pummels the audience. I enjoyed this film immensely. 📽️🕸️🍿🗃️

unlabelledView post →WHEN EVIL LURKS features my favorite line of dialogue of 2023: "Evil loves children, and children love evil." The rest of the film is rad as well, reminiscent of Cronenberg's THE BROOD. As with THE BROOD, this is a horror movie about divorce, specifically fears of your kids turning against you.
