I really wanted to like this game. As of this writing I have 69 hours into the game. When it's good, it's very good. At times it feels like you really are in command of naval forces in the Pacific during WW2. It is very thrilling to watch your bombs explode on an enemy carrier's deck. Or watch a wave of torpedoes drive into the side of a battleship and blow up. When it's not good, it is extremely rage inducing. At odd moments, aircraft do not do what you order them to; they just circle…

First, I'd like to discuss some of the negative reviews that almost made me not purchase this. With regards to bugs, there were some weird things that happened that I just didn't understand why, but they ended up not being bugs. Once I understood the game mechanics like carriers needing to be with the wind to take off (and sometimes to land) aircraft, I had no issues with them landing and taking off again. If the carrier is not positioned in such a way, then the aircraft just fly around until…

Uggh. i really wanted to like this game. I'm desperate for a naval war simulator. there are naval battle simulators, naval shipbuilding simulators, strategic naval simulators... but nothing that attempts to do all three. I wanted this to be the one. the strategic side is pretty ok in general, other than the terrible AI. You get to command the entire theatre of the pacfic and all the fleets inside it. you can build what ships you want, send them where you want, set supply routes and invasions…

Great concept and potential. Love the idea. However this is a massively-buggy cheating mess of a game is clearly abandoned by the developers. The game was surely quality tested by drunken monkeys wearing blindfolds. Come on guys. Cut out the theft and patch your game up so that we can review our ratings.

As someone who really want's to like this game, and I truly do want to like it, I'm sorry to say that I can't really recommend this game in it's current state. The gameplay is fine and can be fun, specifically when your right up in the action having the ship maneuver to avoid torpedoes and air attacks, and launching submarine attacks on convoys and task forces. But while the core gameplay is really solid, the fact that it is so filled with bugs and glitches makes it really difficult to enjoy…

I really wanted to like this game. As a naval history fanatic there are so few games of this type, genre, and scope out there currently, and for someone like me, it's very annoying when I see a game with promise like this pop up only to be sorely disappointed as it misses the mark. There are some things I like about this game. Most of these come from the overall campaign system, as there are some features gameplay-wise that I think are quite neat. The first and foremost of these is the amount…

I bought the game when it first released and there were, as to be expected, issues. Planes not working and horrendous micro management to get ships to do what you wanted. About a year on, seen lots of updates and I went back to the game. Planes are still an issue, not attacking ships and flying over until shot down or falling of the back of the aircraft carrier instead of launching. Don't bother with torpedo bombers as the enemy has god like awareness and battleships and large cruisers can…

This game is not finished, and likely never will be. The developers are shocking, I could not believe my eyes when I saw that they had announced a new game, when this game is nowhere near to being in a finished state. Despite the store page stating otherwise, this very much feels like an early access game. In so many positive reviews, they go on about the immense 'potential' this game has, and they're right, this game has so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ potential. But it doesn't matter, because the…

This game has a lot going for it but also has some serious issues. If a meh existed I would give it that. Pros -Really huge map of the pacific with all of it being playable is great -Lots of ships of all classes -AI for the most part is actually competent -3 campaigns each of which have lots of replayability and will take dozens of hours to complete one. -Really good logistics system which is something rare in naval games. Cons -During combat you can watch it in 3D or 2D. For whatever…

After completing my first play through, I feel compelled to leave a review for this game. First I should put a few things that are important to me in a game... #1 Has to be fun. #2 I like a challenge but I don't enjoy hardcore. I don't mind failing and having to try again with a different strategy but after about 3 or 4 failures, #1 is no longer true. #3 I like some depth and a little complexity is okay. But if the game is too complex or requires too much micro management, #1 is no longer…

Don't buy this game. It is a mess. Not only is it an incompetent build, the developers aren't focused on fixing it. To take one example, Japanese cargo fleets--with 20 ships and 2 escorts, something the Japanese never did--are more powerful than a fleet of US cruisers, destroyers, and battleships. They also have better AA than a fleet of combat ships so your carriers are useless against them. And this is only one among many problems.

Ive played quite a bit of this game but the last few updates ruined it. I just had 6 destroyers get demolished by 3 submarines. keep in mind destroyers are supposed to be used take out subs. After that i had 2 separate fleets that consisted of a total of 7 carriers and 6 battleships and several cruisers and destroyers simultaneously hit a fleet from two sides that had ZERO carriers 5 battleships and a few cruisers and destroyers and their fleet wiped both of my fleets. Sorry but that is not…

I really, really wanted to fall in love with this game. The genre is my jam. Unfortunately, even years after release, it just feels incomplete. The controls are clumsy, with even simple orders requiring navigating a popup menu, and aircraft are just plain buggy. The battle maps are an absolute pain to navigate, with no way to move your camera to a new position other than painstakingly dragging yourself there. I've downloaded and deleted it three times, now, because every time I think of how…

Playing for hours, and then the game won't save. Apparently, the complexity of the game leads to some kind of issue where early in the campaign saving isn't an issue, but as you have more units, convoys, etc. the game gets glitchy. And then stops autosaving and when you try to save manually, it just hangs up. So, if you can't actually finish, why start?

First I'd love to give the game a thumbs up, the game play and concept are great, however bugs are the reason for the thumbs down, while some bugs are simply annoying, some are major and still have not been addressed. I want to like this game, I really do. Naval warfare of the previous century is what I'm truly interested in. But it feels like this game does its best to not let you even finish your campaign. First, planes refuse to land, then they continue their boycott and won't get airborne from bases. Some crewman goes insane shooting a gun and won't stop until it runs out of ammo. In 1942 Japan and US make their first encounter of alien technologies: powerful shield fields stopping bombs from passing any…

Unfortunately after some thought I decided that I cannot recommend this game. The main reason is due to a glitch in the aircraft. Essentially the AI stops working correctly and they start doing strange things including flying off in odd directions and ignoring orders to land, drop bombs etc. Sometimes there are workarounds but during a battle they are not always feasible or work to resolve it. It is sad because for the most part when it works it can be a fun game. However, given it is a game…

The concept this game is trying to fulfill is something really awesome, but they've done a pretty poor job with some of the more basic mechanics of it. The amount of bugs in this game are uncanny, and often frustrating. I've had numerous glitches with the menu becoming black screen whenever I open it, resulting in being unable to save. I eventually fell in love with this game. Truly epic in what they delivered. Its grand strategy, logistics, tactical battle and the tactical visuals are great i.e. dive bombers actually dive bombing. Loved every part of it in the end. A little hard to learn the campaign at the start so I suggest playing a few in custom battles first. When you come to the end of first first campaign you will see carrier battles of 10 vs 10 and its just awesome. Addictive!!!

I would have loved to have been able to make a larger variety of ships for the British and commonwealth forces during their campaign, not being able to construct the Repulse class heavy battle cruiser or the revenge class battle ships are kind of a bummer. There's nothing like the feeling of hopelessness you suffer when you're sitting at Midway with your fleet and the Japanese are invading the Aleutian Islands, knowing there's bugger all you can do about it. There is definitely some jank here, but if you can get past it, there's a fun (if slightly repetitive) grand strategy/naval combat game here. Having played the first Victory at Sea game, I feel like this does improve upon it in many ways: the combat is better, there are additional mechanics and options for issuing commands to your fleets, and the new supply chain forced me to choose each target with more thoughtfulness than I ever did in the previous title. I also like the endgame, where as the…

I wish this game would use more system resources or something because it cannot handle late game calculations. Halfway through the campaign it starts slowing down and glitching when fighters launch/land. The whole point of the game is air superiority but sadly it just freezes and crashes as soon as you engage a large attack... right when it starts getting good.

Pros: - Map size is large, ships take realistic times to travel; so planning and positioning to react are vital. For it's concept, there is almost nothing like it, simulating the pacific war on a grand scale, while also being able to go straight into the fight is amazing. But it just doesn't work. Cool game in concept, but the AI is trash. Aircraft AI make bad decisions even after multiple re-orders, which is particularly frusterating considering how important aerial assets are in this game. I can get past weird glitches and inaccurate ship models, but the AI offing themselves is enough to kill this game for me. Nice attempt, though.
