59 of 59 · most liked firstHorrible RPG maker game. Lots of glitches (running through walls, character background not transparent) and an extremely limited, linear game 'world'. You have at best three locations you can visit. The boss fights are without any depth. Overall a very poor experience. Don't even bother when it goes on sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lovely maps and well-conceived characters with a neat story. I was really excited when I saw how much work and love this game contains. I really had the feeling this game is balanced since I didn't get much money and still had enough to buy my stuff. Or at least I thought so. That was only what it looked like at first. As I kept playing there where more and more bugs and annoying points that made me curse out loud. Some enemies can't be avoided because they are bugging. I can't even run…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As I have said before, the most important feature of an rpg is the story ---- and this game offered by Aldorlea has a great, involving, and interesting story. You are placed right into the action from the beginning as you follow the tale of 2 sisters who are facing a dilemma of what is really going on, and why. But as time moves along, pieces of this puzzle are revealed, drawing you in as the player. A very well told tale indeed with twists, turns, good humor, and emotion. Gameplay is pretty…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Glaring programming issues from the get go right from the start went to the weapon shop outfitted my main 2 characters with the gear they were missing. at the start of the adventure the gear was taken away after the metting with the mayor etc. The controls are terrible there is no game pad options and there is no keyboard control set up so you must use the mouse. TLDR: game play/programming make this game not worth it to play for the story line. if there are fixes and updates I might feel…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short version: Between all the bugs and a fair amount of design issues, there's not much of anything left to enjoy. Long version: Vagrant Hearts is a game made in RPG Maker. I'm not sure which version, XP or VX, but it is a newer engine than I have personally toyed with. Because of my experience with RPGM 2k and 2k3 I know some of the work that goes into the game, but I'm not familiar with the new sprites and music files that come with the engine. I -believe- that the maps and the music in the…

Other then that: It is what one think it is. So if you want more of it. Go for it. It does what it is supposed to do: Good with an G.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hello to anyone reading here my review i made a video which i will link at the end of this post. I just had to mention the story to this game it where it shines right off the back it tosses allot at you by telling you the story of 2 sisters and one having healing powers just gain right after her mother dieing that heavy to carry. Her sister as well protecting her from others trying to use her for said power and the story goes on that what makes this game stand out dont just look at it from just…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Vagrant Hearts is a decent game, faithful to its genre - story-driven, exploring and turn-based combat. I enjoyed it, but I also lacked a bit more challenge. Most of the dungeons are fairly straighforward, and battles aren't exactly hard, even the optional ones. On the other had, this is probably plus for the less experienced players. So, if you are looking for an easy-to-play "casual" game with good story, this is a game for you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is once again a title that I wish I could give a neutral or 'meh' review for. For Aldorlea RPGs though, I will have to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that this is one of their better titles. But even so, the negatives outweight the positives in my review so I have to give it a thumbs down. Pros Much more polished than some of Aldorlea's older games, in the sense that it starts to look less like something that came RIGHT out of RPG Maker. There is some originality here.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Vagrant Hearts is an excellent turn-based RPG that I really enjoyed and highly recommend. This game has an excellent side view turn-based battle system, and a well written and interesting story. I found myself playing this game for many hours at a time enjoying the battle system and story. The game features 10 different playable characters (though only 9 will be selectable in the end), and a unique Crest System that allows you to customize 4 different spells per party member, in addition to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I went into the game hoping it wasn’t as bad as a lot of the reviews make it out to be, but … uh, it’s certainly not great. Complaints • Lots of typos. • Lots of holes in structural integrity, like the protagonist’s sprite being able to walk through a wall and (what should be) other impassable objects. • Issues with enemy encounters. A bit difficult to explain. There aren’t random encounters. The protagonist has to make contact with an enemy roaming around, but sometimes the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Vagrant hearts is a tale about 2 sisters one who has healing powers that can save lifes 2 factions gain intrust in her the white corp and the brotherhood this game has tons of plot twists and has a very good storyline. Pros: 16 bit visual goodness all smooth and made to perfection, excellent storyline, classic rpg feel, great soundtrack cons: sprites could of been a bit better 8.5/10 worth a buy
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For an JRPG, it's really bad with characters that are bland and a poorly written dialogue with perpetual misspellings. The story is full of plot holes straight from the beginning. The protagonist sister has the gift to heal (as in a very low level heal spell) and for some strange reason never fully understood, an organization wants her for this cure 1 spell equivalent. Shortly after you lose her (like 1 hour gameplay in), you find a low level heal spell to equip on any party member (and this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Glitchy garbage. Typos everywhere. Boring combat where every boss is a damage sponge boss where the % times it uses full party attacks determines it's difficulty. Flat characters. Did they use a lame game making program to do this? They shouldn't be allowed to publish cheap game maker crap on Steam. Learn a real programming language and then come back.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am conflicted about this game. I played to completion (12 hours), but I'm not really sure I reccomend it. Pros: The story grabbed my interest and wouldn't let go The magic system is interesting, but could use some flushing out Music is good, but nothing terribly special Cons: The writing isn't very good, the lines often feel like a middle-school drama performance The battle system more-or-less devolves into "keep CC layered on the enemy until it dies" The world map and UI are both…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The following is a blanket review for all the Aldorlea games I have played. This is valid, I think, because the problems are exactly same. I gave these games a genuine try, but everything by Aldorlea has the same set of problems. Horrible level design, the most god awfully boring and unsatisfying stories, TONS of HUD problems, and a single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ music track for each game. The only redeeming qualities these games have is the art (one of the games has some humor as well); but unless you have a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you have a few hours to spare then this would be a pleasant enough way to spend them. If you want something a bit more enthralling than that, this game will struggle to qualify. You play a lot of the game as 2 split parties, which is something I normally enjoy, but the transitions from one to another were clumsy in places, which detracted. Mapping wasn't very exciting and lots of passability issues. It was quite tricky in places moving around when the tiles were set to the wrong…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Starts out pretty neatly with a pleasantly generic story, explanation of the spell system and some optional bosses you can fight by breaking seals. The game has the classic jrpg elements like overworld/city map system, turn-based fighting with set classed characters and various jrpg like item and equipment settings. Unfortunately the enemies offer nothing, one can posion, stun and paralyze every enemy even the final boss(except one enemy encountered in the mid game which is the only adversary…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would really like to have left a good review for this game because I enjoyed it so much... up until the game breaking bug I hit. Incredibly disappointing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was a fun game to play. I liked the idea of the crests, and the fact that you didn't have to really level up or anything - just play through the game to be at the right level for the baddies you face. The story was okay, but the characters and the character interaction was a bit frustrating at times. I would recommend this if you like old school RPGs, but get it on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A bit buggy, if you equip anything in the start of the game, you lose the items after talking to the mayor. A lot of spelling mistakes. Strength is spelling "strenght," etc. I deleted the game. It is a waste of money. I have played free game with better quality. The images of the enemies look like they were drawn by a child.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a fun but somewhat easy game. There are a few glitches such as being able to go through walls, and some people seem to have been copied and pasted into the game. The game has a two-party system, which is pretty great as most games only have one, but the other party keeps equipment and crests which can get extremely annoying. If your a fan of old-school RPG and want some easy achievements, then the game is worth getting. I recommend to wait till this game is at least 50% off, it's a nice…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Vagrant Hearts is a solid game that any fan of the old school RPGs will enjoy playing. - an intricate story that tells of two sisters (Scarllet and Beatrice) who find themselves in a life changing adventure after the healing ability of one draws the notice of outsiders. - the narrative is told in a split story style as it follows the separate travels of each sister. - there is a "crest" system in place which give particular spells when used. But only 4 crests at a time can be equipped, so there…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A cool RPG Maker game that has an interesting plot and settings, recommended if you like the Final Fantasy games of old
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Buggy as Hell !, but the team work on it fast !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Killed Drake in the Lost Church while in Offline mode. Finished the game in Online mode. The Drake achievement never appeared, the "final" boss achievement did. It sucks that the game doesn't sync what was done offline. Not going to go through it all again just to get that one. Maybe in the future I'll replay it, maybe not. The game has tons of typos and a few map/environment bugs. The story isn't that interesting.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting, beautiful RPG about two sisters. One of the sisters has the gift of healing and why it attracted the attention of the secret brotherhood. Wonderful history and exciting quests. I would recommend this game. Already one of my favorites. Very fun game. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →[url=http://www.the-backlog.net/vagrant-hearts-review/]My full review can be found here. Disclaimer: I was provided a key by the developer for review purposes. Vagrant Hearts follows the story of Beatrice and Scarllet as they journey to the Brotherhood. There they'll discover secrets better left hidden, both within the Brotherhood and in the world. While they'll remain separated for most of the game, the story still follows them as they join up with new companions. Vagrant Hearts is, for the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →IF they had bothered doing some playtesting this game could be quite good. But the large amount of bugs, lack of balance and the horrible mismatched music volumes make this game almost unplayable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I tried to like it, I did. But the constant minor errors just got to me. For the most part, it was the almost constant spelling errors. It just showed a lack of polish and attention to detail that let me know that this game wasn't going to get any better. I'm not even sure when my characters leveled up...I didn't see any announcement after a battle? Maybe I missed it. Got a "Sorcerer" character that had an INT-boosting ability as his only ability...but no spells to cast to use that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a nice game. First, unlike many of the RPGMaker games, the character pictures are much more unique. Then, there is the plot. It centers on two sisters and the bond that leads them into danger. One has acquired a very powerful gift, that of healing. And that gift makes that girl an object that differing factions want to control (or destroy). As with most of these things, there is also a stirring darker evil growing in the background. This is also only part one of a tale, as there is a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Vagrant Hearts - JRPG. The story tells of two sisters Scarlett and Beatrice, who became close after her mother's death. Then Beatrice discovered her ability to heal people. Game Goodies: - Cool story, exciting from the start - A variety of quests - Interesting levels - Very nice music - Achievements in the implementation of which takes time. Great game if you want to pass your time 10/10

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →RPG Maker strikes again! Vagrant Hearts is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. Warfare/Andorlea/whatever other shell accounts…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Better than Vagrant Hearts 2, but still has some of the same drawbacks, would recommend if you are getting this game on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to like this game, but it was just ok. Very standard RPG maker game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is a mind blow SMOKEOTONIC CRAP SLICE OF miniature pie
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice characters, and graphics. Simple but acceptable story. Unfortunately the gameplay is pretty poor. Combat in particular seems very grindy. Come across a glitch where the corpse of a particular enemy will follow you around. Also, UI is basic - no questlog or minimap. A little disspointing frankly. Overall rating: 4/10.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay so I admit I was a little wary when I started this game because I've played a lot of RPG maker games, and they're often hit or miss, and you never really know what you're going to get. But this. Oh my gosh, this. I'm already in love. While the controls can be a bit wonky at times, this game delivers a compelling story the likes of which I haven't seen in a very long time. This is just the kind of retro RPG I've been pining for, one where I can completely get immersed in the story and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am going to re-do this review. Still on the verge of recommending this game, just because of how difficult and non sense a lot of sections are. To me the story line was awesome. I loved it. 2 female protagonist, and both are sisters. I honestly think if the creator put a little more effort on playing the actual game before putting it up for sale to correct the mistakes, this would be an amazing rpg. Hopefully Vagrant Hearts 2 does not disappoint since I am interest what happened at the end…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a rather simple RPG comparable to a port of an SNES RPG. The story is interesting, as are the characters. Its not worth the price of a big-name game, but its a good choice for a cheaper game for those who don't mind 16-bit graphic and turn-based combat. The character portraits are very nice, quite a bit better than the graphics in the rest of the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Vagrant Hearts, developed and published by Warfare Studios, is a story-driven RPG that draws heavily from the traditions of classic Japanese role-playing games while attempting to deliver a more character-focused narrative within its modest framework. Built using RPG Maker, it embraces a familiar structure of turn-based combat, linear progression, and dialogue-heavy storytelling, clearly positioning itself as a nostalgic experience for players who appreciate the simplicity and pacing of older…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →🎮 Vagrant Hearts Review ⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2/5) The Good: 📖 Story Is Alright. The story itself is decent and has some redeeming qualities worth appreciating. ✅ Can Be Finished. I did manage to finish the game despite all the bugs. It is playable to completion if you persevere. The Bad: 🐛 Too Many Bugs. The game itself has just too many bugs to recommend it. Technical issues are frequent and impact enjoyment. ⚠️ Not Recommendable Despite Completion. Even though I finished it, the buggy state makes it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an OK RPG. The characters are just ugly though. I don't care fore the character creation done by the dev. But that is a petty annoyance on my part, and this os a classic old school game with pretty dungeions. I recommend playing the 3 game series from this dev.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I finished Vagrant Hearts 2, enjoyed it. Began this one and am enjoying it. PROS: Good characters, good music that changes per area, "has well involved story with drama", original art (albeit not tons of it), simplicity, gameplay that moves forward at an even pace. Music and art are unique to this series btw. I like this kind of game at the very end of the day - it is "not too busy" and relaxing. CONS: Cannot run, though there's not a big need to run in this game, no voice acting, no…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is essentially a good game, needs a little polishing and debugging. This game would be worth much more if it were cleaned up and polished. Would be better to have keyboard movement instead of mouse as well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tags: Topdown - RPGMaker & Party RPG Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Flawed pacing. Anemic combat. Good idea for features but very muddled. Confused party roster. Superficial depth of plot. Linear. If you were stuck with this game and nothing else to play you could make due with it. It has sort of a Esper-style magical system. It has the odd optional area here and there with a few monsters and a loot. There is quite a few random goodies hidden about that you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game. Many RPGs I play them once and after I win, I move on. Vagrant Hearts I will play again, because of the fun game play, interesting storyline and to complete side missions I skipped the first go around.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A little rough around the edges, but still enjoyable. It has an at least somewhat interesting plot, charming characters, and, low and behold, character face shots not ripped directly from rpgmaker. While I wouldn't suggest this game at $9.99, it is worth the buy on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I havent fully played the game but here are the pro's and cons iv noticed Pros: nice artwork good story batte system 50%okay unique charcters inventory share 50% okay For the cons im not going to put them to single words for the 2 that are 50% its goes both ways. Now the reason why when your fighting the monters or boss's there one or two things off in the battle mode the monsters are either out of place or half of it is off screen to not fully see the monster, and that they're overpowerd…
