positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This Is Good…Isn’t It? The second commercial release by solo indie developer Antonio Freyre, UNDETECTED is a retro stealth game that’s simple in its design, yet remains difficult to surmount, and has one incredibly obvious inspiration. While I wish it did more to distinguish itself, it nonetheless provides a consistently pleasant experience that most stealth fans should walk away feeling satisfied by. Playing as Agent Kaan, you’re tasked with infiltrating an energy station to find some lost…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After that other Metal Gear Cuba we get Mexican Gear Solid, which feels to be higher in quality but doesn't have that much depth regarding items and gameplay variation, this is strictly stealth game with no or very little room for error. But overall it's a really good stealth game and just screams original MGS. Playing this until Konami feels like adding the oldies.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feeling nostalgic for the old days of MGS? Back before MGS4 came out and (probably) stole all your coffee creamer? Before MGSV did...whatever that was? Drop back into the cozy, warm, loving embrace of it with Undetected. It's a love letter and homage to the series that can stand on its own with a story and message that we should all experience. Buttery smooth gameplay with serious, and silly, options to take care of enemies and allow you to do things like throw out a grenade that turns into a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh god, they made this look like metal gear solid 2, but that's about all it does is LOOK like it. Nowhere close to playing like the classic. This is barely a stealth game, it's action, and there's hardly any tactics involved. You get detected you better have some defenses, and flashes don't work very far or for very long, sponge bullets are worthless taking 2 shots to KO. If you do KO them they wake up in about 10 seconds. Aiming is terrible, good luck hitting anything, you can't crouch…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →UNDETECTED is a very rough game unfortunately. I was too green. Would love to give that style a try again one day. However, the boss music still slaps marcvogler.bandcamp.com/track/super-...
unlabelledView post →If there was a mixed button I'd have chose it, this game in terms of gameplay is trial and error, get detected use any items or die. (within your luck of course.) Now in terms of bugs, trying to change options or checking controls after pausing game will most of time lead to a bug where the options menu or controls menu being stuck on screen while the game is running in background and you can hear it's audio. Edit: Skipping cutscenes can be done accidentally a lot since it "literally" says…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had high hopes for this game from the initial trailer. It's clearly a passion project. However, that doesn't always translate to good quality unfortunately. In its current state, I cannot recommend it currently but the followup game looks like it might be promising. This game is a love letter to MGS and MGS1 especially. This is immediately clear in the visual design which is fantastic, it captures that PS1 vibe perfectly. Upon booting the game, you are greeted with a Portable Ops/Peace…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Exactly the type of game I'm looking for. It's a interesting political story on a path towards glory kinda literally. The voice acting so far has be top notch. Game mechanics are polished and feel good to play. All in all I've played all the stealth games years ago and this is exactly what I want out of the genre. Really well put together.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As much as I want to enjoy the Legends ZA DLC, I think it highlights some of the worst aspects of the base game. Want to lock on to a Pokemon too bad, here’s a destructible instead. New challenge “Catch Pokemon Undetected,” also, there’s no cover. Climb this building, have fun finding out how.
unlabelledView post →Very tedious and less of a stealth game and more of a linear puzzle.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Undetected is a stealth game heavily inspired by Metal Gear series. I'm not a Metal Gear fan, so I have no idea how successful Undetected is when trying to replicate the experience Metal Gear games offer. The game is not bad. The bad outweighs the good, unfortunately. The game suffers a lot from crucial design choices. First of all, you have no lethal option. You can't kill enemies. You can't grab them from behind. You can't knock them out permanently. After you knock down an enemy, they get up…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So I never played MGS 1 or 2 and this game clearly is inspired by the early MGS games. I don't know if some things are copied 1 for 1 from the original game or it's a change that the developer made but either way, the game's not a good modern stealth game. MGS1 you had a radar that showed you enemy positions and view cones at all times. This game you have a "scout" button that you need to stand still to use and it takes a second or so to activate and then another second to deactivate in order…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This looks like a love letter to Metal Gear Solid but it's just clunky and frustrating. The camera is all overhead unless you're leaning against a wall. The controls are terrible however and you can't move while leaning on a wall. You get kind of close to the corner but enough to feel like you shouldn't be seen and nope, you get spotted anyway. When leaning, you'll find yourself constantly playing with the controls to try to move yourself into the ideal position. The main frustrating part is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Inspired by Metal Gear in looks, but they should have copied more from the source material. Given the same perspective, MGS1 thrived with a minimap/radar and the ability to observe your surroundings in First Person. Undetected's version of the overhead view requires you to be stationary and press a button... it takes a second to enter and exit this mode as well. You find bullets on the ground, one or two at a time. They all seem to be nonlethal, as well. Don't expect to be able to knock out…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked the concept of playing a game like the original mgs but only 40 mins in and i'm bored as hell, gameplay is more limited then the original mgs, no real stealth element as far as i got all i had to do is keep to the outer edge and that was all the stealth i needed. if i could pick neutral rating i would and i'm looking forward to the next game from this dev but i just don't like this ko last about 3 seconds and no option to kill
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you want a fun Metal Gear Solid experience, UnMetal is a better use of your time. The sneaking in this game isn't that challenging, the weapons aren't really fun, and the story is almost none existent. It does FEEL like MGS2, so if you're a big fan of sneaking around, you may get some fun out of this, but it's by no means matching the complexity of the inspiration (crawling, swimming, hanging, etc.). There's some good stuff in here, but you'll probably get bored pretty quickly. I feel like a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played the first half hour of the game (turning off the three generators and making it to the power station) so far, but I wanted to leave a quick review since I played it on the Steam Deck. The game works great, no cursor or small text issues, button prompts and controls work perfectly. Only issue is the foggy areas can make it lag a little. Otherwise, it plays great on the Deck! I'm a fan of Antonio's previous game The Chameleon and I've been following the development of Undetected on…

unlabelledView post →Positive Review, but... I'm into retro games - not everyone is. This is someone's labor of love. It's an older style stealth shooter and all that implies EXCEPT it comes with full controller support built in. The controls and view angles are awkward (that's part of the experience); you have to use your abilities carefully to have the best odds of beating the levels - for example the map is often useful, but in some areas foliage gets in the way - that's on purpose. Definitely old school…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been looking forward to this game for a while now, really hoped it was a close Metal Gear clone. Unfortunately, the only things that come close to MGS are the silly story and the look of it. I'm still going to recommend it, because I really enjoyed the 3D art and overall feel of the game. The gameplay itself felt a bit simple... There are different weapon projectiles to chose from (flash, slime, etc.) and explosives (slime, stink cloud and such) but that's it. You can't duck or crouch,…

It was wonderful to see his engagement with @zeruagames.bsky.social and my game, INVASION...or First Contact...or Undetected...or whatever the game is called! Its getting so good, and better with every playtest!
unlabelledView post →does NOT have the mechanical depth of the original two mgs games despite the appearance, however it is still an incredibly fun and well-made arcade style stealth action game. not very demanding unless you play on the hardest two difficulties but that's fine. nails the visuals, music, and story very well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This could be a great stealth game however enemies spotting you off screen, the inconsistent viewing angles making me constantly have to swap between third-person, somewhat helpful bird's eye and greater bird's eye view with red overlay plus effects just to get a semblance of my surroundings ruins this for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is similar to the original MGS but on a indie budget. Though I had some fun, especially with the boss fights, I honestly cannot recommend it. The story is told through 2D comic book cut scenes but I wasn't invested enough to care about it. The gameplay involves you sneaking into a base via different sub sections that have you go from point A to point B. In-between these points are guards, cameras, and traps that you have to avoid to progress. You can use gadgets or takedowns to subdue…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →⭐⭐ Disappointing, as a MGS fan I was excited to play this game but it looks like an alpha, worse version of it to be honest. I wanted to, but can't recommend it. If you're looking for some stealth action, my advice is to purchase No Sun To Worship instead, the newer game from the same developer. Although I haven't played it yet, from what I've seen it is way better than Undetected.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Undetected is a stealth game, very heavily and obviously inspired by the old Metal Gear Solid game, even down to the old-style graphics. It's played from a top-down view, with fixed camera in some sections. You play as Tenoch Kaan, an augmented agent infiltrating a power station controlled by enemies. You are equipped with an arsenal of nonlethal weapons, like bullets and grenades that knock out instead of kill, and of course those who can create a diversion. For players of modern stealth…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bite Sized Mexican Metal Gear Solid As you can infer, the game is one great big love letter to the original MGS game: top-down stealth action. Your pistol doesn't fire lethal bullets, but rather a variety of different ammo types ranging from rubber bullets to set off switches from afar, to flash bulbs to blind guards who have spotted you. Unlike MGS, there is no minimap radar in the corner of the screen, meaning you have to use both the long range scout function, as well as dipping into first…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great stealth game. Gameplay sits somewhere between a MGS1 and MGS2-like game (more toward MGS1). Guards are incredibly fun to mess with. Looking forward to doing some zoomy runs of this eventually!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bringing back stealth survival the way MGS made it popular. Graphics could use some improvements but the audio and "cutscenes" are really good. We need more of this. I hope this keeps getting patched/improved and quests added!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →UNDETECTED is a Nintendo Switch game that somehow is on Steam as well. It's basically a ripoff of Metal Gear Solid, only really bad. You are supposed to stealth around various buildings, interact with stuff, all presented in a 3D view that wildly changes the camera on you for arbitrary positioning reasons... it's annoying. But you end up shooting more than anything. The game is presented somewhat poorly... but I will say I think this is a genuine project, if badly made. From a technical…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, clearly a tribute to Metal Gear Solid 1 but with its own mechanics. The sneaking feels great and the distraction techniques are cool too. It has the classic 'if you hide long enough after detection, they go into a normal pattern', but keep in mind that getting detected is a quick death early on (you'll get more HP later by rescuing people). There is no real emphasis on gun play, in fact all you get are non-lethal weapons and there are no kills aside from the four bosses you face.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm falling in love so far. The lore is overly complicated, not in a good way, it's a stale read at best. However, the opening nails the MGS style in its presentaion. Gameplay wise, there's good use of the locked camera, the devs allow the player to learn certain elements through observation or user error, they subverted my expectation of safely in the first 30 mins of game time. I can already tell this is going to be fun to play. This feels like the first Metal Gear Solid, well done.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: Graphics are good. Controls feel responsive and full controller support is nice. Voice acting and cutscenes are good. Fast stealth action, if you get caught, you can quickly restart the room again and try various strategies. Minor issues: -I would've liked a map. The levels are not complex, so remembering where you've been and need to backtrack to rescue all the prisoners is not an issue most of the time, but I did get a little lost in the main building. -Feels like rolling sometimes…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To get the obvious out of the way, this game is inspired by MGS1. Many of the things it does well are done in the same way MGS1 does these things, and it's impossible to avoid that when reviewing it. That being said, it doesn’t merely copy what MGS1 does but understands “why” those things work, and builds on them to create a fun and well-presented game. It took me under 4 hours to complete it on the recommended “Stealth Enjoyer” difficulty. This is fairly short and I did wish there was a bit…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is short, but kicks ass! Solid quality stealth gameplay, lots of fun gadgets to mess around with, and some top quality max-payne like handdrawn cutscenes. If you're a fan of old school sneaking games like Metal Gear Solid, you can't pass this one up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just finished the game and I very much enjoyed it! Only real gripe I have about the game is that the bosses don't seem like much of a challenge (I did only play normal difficulty though so maybe they're much harder on the higher difficulties?) While some may complain about not having a dedicated tranq gun, I do believe that having one would've made the game itself too easy and I very much loved the different types of bullets that are used throughout the game for different purposes (as well as…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun arcadey take on the MGS formula, enjoyable story and a nice throwback retro artstyle.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →woah this is awesome!!! the game has a lot of style and is really fun! making you act non-leathal really pushes the boundries of stealth (because when you kill an enemy you don't have to worry about it anymore) For people expecting for a MGS copy, have in mind that this plays different and it's great the way it is... so be open minded!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mexican Gear Solid, also with stink bombs 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →solid metal gear.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an interesting concept, but I think it's a bit too loyal to the idea of old-school top-down stealth games without seemingly being able to execute on the same level. I see what this game is trying to do, but I don't think it does it successfully. Maybe this is a game for another type of gamer but it isn't for me. I was hoping the developer revisits this game world, I'd love to see a more polished rendition of this game. I'll give it a thumbs up to support indie development. I still…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little homage to MGS1 and the early MGS games in general. It took me just under 4 hours to beat so you have to weigh whether the price point is worth it for you. I ended up picking it up during a sale. The main stealth gameplay is just alright. You have to figure out how to get from point A to point B and navigate guards and drones. You have different items at your disposal to get around them, but honestly, I felt like I hardly had to use any items except for the bosses. The story was…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Developed by Antonio Freyre and published by Digerati, UNDETECTED is a stealth-action adventure that proudly embraces the design philosophy of classic infiltration games while presenting its own futuristic setting. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This type of game design feels incredibly antiquated. Awkward controls, worse camera angles and simplistic gameplay. It makes zero sense that enemies don't see me just a meter away, just because I am in the shade. Shooting feels bad, when the camera is too close to player and enemies can see your from outside the frame. Stealth games evolved so much over the last 25 years. This feels just too janky and old. The old design aspects were not updated or modified for a modern audience in any way.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So yeah, I realise I've not even put a full hour into this game, so it's a bit of a cardinal sin for me to leave a negative review, but I'll get to that later. I've been playing a lot of metal gear on the steam deck lately, and although I had to skip MGS4, I've been having a good time. MGS5 was'nt like the previous entries like I hoped it would be, so I've been looking for games made to be like those games. After playing UnMetal (which was fantastic) I had high hopes for Undetected.…
