The only good reason to have this game is if you were in 2014, and Transport Fever 2 hasn't existed yet. It was a good game back in the day, showing us what is possible for rail games, especially moving away from grid based rail building, which to me was always a point of abstraction too far personally, but unavoidable way back then due to technological constraints.

There are no features in Train Fever that are not in any of its succesors. Therefor sadly i cannot recommend anyone to buy this game. Go buy Transport Fever of Transport Fever 2 instead! Both those have steam workshop, a campaign, and the ability the make boats and planes for example. Features that Train Fever lacks.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Some serious problems that have all been resolved by Transport Fever 2. Play that instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a great concept, but even on OP hardware it gets laggier and laggier as you play. So many stutters and freezes whenever it has to calculate a lot of things at once. The lack of transport options or a campaign definitely destroy the replayability value of it. Cities in Motion 1 (and 2) released before this and did a much better job.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Immediately after buying this game I realize how good game it was but after 20 hours I realized is more complex than it seems and it requires some certain time to understand how it actually functions. I have spent around 160 hours trying to get all achievements and man, I had enough. I can tell that Transport Fever (the game after this) is 10 times better and has better mechanics than this particular game. I don't suggest buying this game and instead you get Transport Fever since while…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ignore this and buy Transport Fever. This one is just a demo version of TpF TpF2 will release Q4 2019.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was a great game in its day, but it (and its sequel, Transport Fever) have been complete superseded by Transport Fever 2, which is a significant evolution over this earlier installment. There is no reason to buy this over Transport Fever 2, and every reason to instead pick up the successor.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The good: It's a train game The bad: Horrible mechanics, hideous interface, mind numbing bugs, mediocre graphics... And don't get me started on signals and multiple platforms. Now, I understand this is a 2014 game and I'm playing in 2020 but let's get serious. This game would have been average if it came 20 years ago. The ugly: I got the game on sale for around 2 GBP but I can say, it's not worth even that. Give this one a miss and go on to Transport fever and Transport Fever 2 - its…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is absolutely terrible. It's clunky and frustrating to lay tracks; there's no way to add platforms to a station; no passengers ever use the stagecoaches. The game lacks depth - there's no objective or competition of any kind. I've given it a few chances and just come away after a couple of hours annoyed and wishing I hadn't wasted my time. It's an unfinished product. The above were fair feedback when it was first released nearly 10 years ago, and they haven't bothered to do a single…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is 2020s and it's more like dev version of transport fever. Don't buy this.... Just wait transport fever series got sale......
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like someone else said in the reviews, I have really tried to like this game and after over 260 hours of play, I still can't. One has to remember that the devs abandoned this game in lieu of the Transport Fever series and it is definitely not worth the price being asked for. It is mind-numbingly slow, unintuitive, unexciting, and like watching the grass grow along your rail lines. Yes, the graphics are pretty nice closeup but despite the number of guides that I have read the economics in the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Devs left this in an okay but not great state, instead of fixing it further they came out with Transport Fever which I hear is better but haven't got it. Don't get this one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty close to finishing this 100% I don't recommend playing this game since Transport Fever 2 is out (play it instead), but if you're curious about Urban Games' first game you will see how much has changed (in a positive way). It's serviceable and still playable and fun at times. This game pretty much shows how urban games just grown over time
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →maybe I am Sheldon Cooper incarnate, I dont know, but I really enjoy this game, despite it being less complex and sometimes less thrilling than TTD... once I can slowly and steadily progress after initial learning curve with building train tracks and all, it is SOOO satisfying just watching the trains go about their business, like a kid lol
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like playing this game. It is a good teacher for learning how to play Transport Fever 1 and 2. I don't have a lot of hours playing but i fine that it is relaxing to string together routes for your goods. This is where everyone should start when getting into the series. P;us i enjoy going back to the old games and just playing what everyone else isn't playing. So hope everyone enjoys this game and whatever they are playing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you want to buy this game - don't. I decided to try it because I liked Transport Fever and wanted to see how the previous game from its developers fared. Well, Train Fever can be considered just basically an alpha version of Transport Fever. And yes, despite the name, it is not just about trains. Yes, I didn't play much at all. But here are some problems that made me unwilling to give the game a chance: 1. No tutorial. Just a couple of text windows explaining the basic controls. If you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had this in my library for a while, I can't remember how I got it. I tried it once long ago and didn't really get in to it but now recently I gave it another try and kind of aligned with it's chill play style. I always was of fan of miniature train models and landscapes... this is a lot cheaper! And I adore the Swiss rail cars. The developer is Swiss, I've been to Switzerland and Germany, and this game has a lot I can personally connect to. I wasn't sure if this is from the same developer of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bad, buggy, broken. Not quite scam-tier non-game but so completely lacking in anything that works reliably as expected that it's still unplayable. One of the few games I regret ever buying.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Initially felt promising... But it has too much micromanagement without which you will go bankrupt, but the core gameplay is not that satisfying. Business requirements, demand and supply etc are static. Locomotives are too few, and I could not notice any modding support to increase content. Even the forums now redirect to Transport Fever 2 only. This is not worth keeping, especially if Transport Fever 2 is on sale @ a very similar price.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do not buy this game. Buy one of their later versions of Transport Fever (1,2 or even 3 coming next month), This version is very outdated.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not a new game since it's from 2014 but still fun to play, even tho if you're new to these type of games then try out Transport Fever 2 instead :) have fun gaming
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It seems good, but it has very little direction or UI clues so I'm moreso lost on what I am doing. It seems to want to have you rely on youtube videos instead. Sadly Can't recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is no reason to purchase or play "Train Fever" (2014). The same developer released "Transport Fever" (2016) which contains everything in "Train Fever" plus new things and improvements. https://store.steampowered.com/app/446800/Transport_Fever/ But Transport Fever is not a good game. Try "Railway Empire" to scratch the same itch: https://store.steampowered.com/app/503940/Railway_Empire/
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great game for those who have hours to set aside. A bit annoying as there is very little information on how to play. No videos for this game but if you follow youtube content on Transport Fever 2 it will give you some basics on how to play this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a good game and all the mods for this game work in Transport fever so go and buy that instead considering that its essentially the same game but with cities and metros and waaaaay larger maps so go buy that instead OR wait until Transport Fever 2 comes out and get that since that is also built on top of TF1 and will also probably share the same mods (if they aren't buildings like train stations). so in reality theres no point to playing this game anymore considering that TF1 has the same…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Welp its a good game, im writing this review for no reason, since Transport Fever 2 is coming near christmas, i wonder if someone will remember the first game lol.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beginning of the modern spiritual successor to TTD. --------------- Inicio do sucessor espiritual moderno do TTD.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You ever get one of those games where you're just really glad you waited for it to be on mega sale? you know, like 85% off? Yeah, this is one of those games.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not worth the money. Play OpenTTD (free!) or Transport Fever 2 instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Waste of money. Spend few $ more and buy Transport Fever with much more options like ships, planes ect.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Building roads and bridges is incredibly frustrating with massive amounts of "collision" with nothing visible..under no circumstances would i recommend this game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Many years have passed since Railroad Tycoon. While Train fever is far from being able to step into the footsteps of that legacy, it's decent. Decent meaning it's not really good but not that bad either. Some of the function take a bit of time getting used to and personally I found to have not as much controls as I personally would have liked, but there's quite a bit of content, the campaign goes for a very long time and there's also technological progression put into the game which I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What this game really is, is one big train sandbox. If you just love laying out tracks and watching trains run, for the price of a decent dinner, this game has everything you want and looks just lovely. The game economy is very basic; just enough to create reasons to run trains. The challenge is just to get things to work and it honestly is not hard. You also have trams, buses and trucks which are all there to form part of the system but their real purpose is to support the trains. These help…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think this is a great game HOWEVER, there are some major issues with it. It came out a few years before Transport Fever, its successor. This age shows with a clunky cargo system that is not well explained in game, and the fact that terrain alignment collisions are quite common. This title also lacks Steam Workshop support, which makes modding more difficult. I see this as a good buy if it is on sale and you are unsure if you want to take the plunge on Transport Fever or the newly released…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its good to go back to the start, a bit of relaxation. with a twist.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A charming and ambitious transport simulation that focuses strongly on building and managing railway networks. It has a slower and more classic feel, but that is part of its appeal. Planning tracks, choosing vehicles, and helping towns develop through better connections makes the experience rewarding. Even if it feels simpler than newer games in the genre, it still offers a lot of enjoyment for fans of transport and railway management.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →BLUF: if you're tempted to pick this up on sale for $1.99, just get Transport Fever for $4.49 instead. This has been sitting in my library unplayed for years, though I played and enjoyed the first Transport Fever. I picked it up for a while just to say I completed one game, and it's (maybe predictably) an inferior version of its sequel in just about every way. More of the challenge comes from how obtuse it is than by design. The bones of a great game are there but the need for the QOL…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The prices are way off for the 1850s, speeds and HP is way down, options to buy are too limited. A coach, a very expensive one would be 2500 at the most, the locomotive offered would be no more than 9500, and no option to buy used. The speed at which time moves in game is not in any way compensated for. You have set the equipment at 1820s speeds and horse power, car size at 1812, price for said equipment is 20 to 30 times higher and is in line with the 1950s. A loan? Investors were used, banks…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I picked this game up in a deep sale for two dollars and I could quickly tell it is not even worth that. This tycoon game is missing so many basic features that are, in my opinion, critical to enjoyment. Why can't I see station catchment areas? Why can't I delete signals? Why can't I see how long a train is while it's in the depot? If you *can* do any of these things, WHY does the game simply refuse to explain any of that to you??? There doesn't even appear to be a controls cheatsheet. All of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun but it has a few extremely frustrating elements. It is complete sandbox in that there is not definitive goal.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Basically the worst ever. Clumsy controls, very difficult to use. Don't waste your time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This Game is Awesome #OldisGold
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Haven't played it in two years. OST/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first the game was hard to figure out. I was doing the tutorials and I was learning how to create bus lines. In the tutorial it said to buy a bus. But what it doesn't tell you is that when you are a beginner, and you're playing the year 1830, that there weren't buses made back then, so you have to choose either a horse drawn carriage or a stage coach. Then my next problem was with the trains. I did the tutorial as told, but when it came to buy a "wagon", that is where I had the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Play Transport Fever instead of this. It has better graphics and better user interface. I couldn't even get this game to run at 1080P.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Stations are buggy, Lines don't link up with stops, Frames are low, Shouldn't be on steam even if it's on sale
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first I didn't like Train Fever, because of the starting year requirements and the unbelievably slow road vehicles. Upon further investigation, it turned out that the industries can be used to make money. Iron and coal to the steel mill etc. There are some oddities, but in general this is a very promising game. I look forward towards taking my company to the 20th and then 21st century.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've bought this game trice. Once when it first came out, refunded it because it didn't run great on my pc, got it on sale for like 10 euro, refunded again and now bought it for 3 euro. The reason I bought this again is I wanted to see where Transport Fever 2 is coming from. And honestly that's the only reason I even bothered. I can't recommend this, even at 3 euro, save up a bit more and get Transport Fever 1 or 2.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →$20? JUST SAY NO!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This Feels Like a Funding Exercise It was pretty clear to me when this game released on Steam that it wasn't really being released as a complete game. It felt more like a way to raise funds for whatever the developer was working on next. What we got feels like the shell of a game rather than a finished experience. There's just not enough here to justify treating it as a proper release. Honestly, I'd rather go and buy the actual full game from the developer than spend money on what…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →yes good game but you can get in dept fast
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Maybe this was once a 'yes,' but three games later I can only really recommend coming back to play the original Train Fever if you're curious about Urban Games' first game. It's serviceable, but I won't deny that Transport Fever 1 and 2 have long since surpassed it in every way.
