60 of 115 · most liked firstThe good: It does look very pretty and the little intro movies for the campaigns and their missions are well made, authentic and unique. Sound effects are great, models and animations look awesome and the game runs smooth as butter. Not something you can say about every game right on launch day nowadays. Also - camera pan and angling is really nicely done and makes looking around the maps actually fun. The bad: TTG is very punishing, feels borderline unfair at points and has no tutorial to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Having recently got into Panzerkorps a bit and wished certain things were just a little bit different I randomly spotted this coming out on the day of release and decided to take the plunge given the very reasonable price and so far I'd say it's a solid purchase. It's very similar to Panzerkorps but with a few key differences that I think make things quite a bit better. Most notably you are able to occupy each hex with up to three units instead of one (with its own benefits and drawbacks), and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →With all due respect (and love) to the publishers/developers of the latest Panzer Corps 2 game engine here on Steam (that would be Matrix Games and Flashback Games, respectively), I would heartily recommend buying this game immediately, whether you own Panzer Corps 2 or not. At the ridiculously-low full price of $25 on Steam, I cannot imagine any grizzled veteran of the original (1994) SSI release or any new Panzer Corps 2 recruit regretting his/her purchase of this product. And if someone…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TTG has some great ideas, ruined by some terrible design decisions. Firstly, the game looks great - it's slick, smooth and good looking. Having different ranges for infantry, armour, AT and artillery is a step up from Panzer General and allows for some interesting tactical decisions. Likewise, the ability to set units in overwatch introduces flexibility. Air support is nicely implemented and doesn't require constant housekeeping of air units. On paper, it looks great - but after playing for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DECEMBER UPDATE: Had the itch to revisit this gem of bad RNG and game elements and the problems are still there. - Units mid battle level up with full health restore and extras out of thin air! Been chipping away at an AT gun with bombing, shelling, infantry only to find it landing a lucky shot on one of my panzers and regenerating to full health with some extras. Are you kidding still? How is this Okay with you guys? Why is this health restore fine, but I can't resupply after movement and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, as a long time lover of Panzer General / Panzer Corps franchises, I wanted this to be a spiritualist successor that I could enjoy. Sadly it's not. The beauty of those franchises was that they captured the operational essence and feel of the historic campaigns, all in an approachable and fairly attractive (graphical) package. RPG elements, basic combined arms tactics and the chance to alter the course of history a bit were sugar on top. An hour in it is very clear that TTG fails to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game in a nutshell: MISSED The concept has potential, but it's another case of larper game that suffers from the "realistic mechanics at the expense of fun" syndrome. Wouldn't buy again.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game looks interesting and cool, but sadly the game appears to have been abandoned by the developers, as there have been numerous unanswered posts about getting updates and scenario/campaign balance, which seems grossly unbalanced in favour of the AI, even when playing on easy...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Although this game has some nice mechanics, like leveling of units, it severely lacks in other areas. If you are a type of player that likes this sort of game, then you'll be severely disappointed with: * the limited number of units * small maps * weather and ground conditions have no effect, besides the visual one * player always starting the scenario first * being UNBALANCED! You'll snow-ball if you do well in the first couple of scenarios. Alternatively, the enemy will swarm you. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even on easy, the AI is well overpowered compared too you. All of their shots hit, will most of yours miss. Any little attack by infantry sends your units to retreat for no reason. The developers made the AI experts on easy level, they know exactly what to do with every move. I wanted to like this game, but it's just more bs. You could have made it a lot of better, now i know why it got such a low rating overall.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TOTAL TANK GENERALS a elegant gritty wargame with gorgeous hex based maps and quality looking miniature style pieces coming to life with layers of game mechanics and modifiers. From the much welcomed three units per hexes to the exciting fog of war where hidden units feel truly sneaky as they suddenly appear as your forces advance into enemy territory making the use of your recon land and air forces all the more rewarding and important lest you take heavy losses sending in armor and infantry…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first glance TTG appears to be very simple hex-based strategy game but it's actually an enjoyable game that offers an experience that most wargamers are accustomed to, but also adds a few unique and enjoyable features to the genre. UI and Design. The game runs incredibly smooth and is easy to understand. Everything you'll need to know is presented clearly and smartly. Units move seamlessly and I've yet to encounter long load times, laggy gamespeed, or general clunkiness. Gameplay.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game doesn't feel like a strategy game when the game registers over 500 misses in one battle of a campaign!! Come on!! The game had no tutorial either so you are thrown into the game not knowing what to do. So you have to read EVERYTHING to learn how to play this game. Game designer's evidently to lazy to put in a tutorial to jump right in. Think it took like 2-3 battles just to learn how things worked. I thought if at least this was a casual strategy war game like Panzer General I could…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting and took a chance on it. Sadly game has been abandoned. Solid Pass
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →3 campaigns with 6 maps each and 4 scenario is all you get. Poor value.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had my fun with this game, but for all those who seek a new and innovative experience in this genre. It is not. You will find all the usual mechanics as in all those, that perceded it. Better graphics and sound for sure. Only recommended for those who can´t get enough of this game-type and newcomers.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sorry to say that I was not able to embrace the game despite the fact I am being a panzer general veteran and long time Panzer corps player. + I liked the game's clean and sleek UI (albeit unit stats are not there at a first glance) + Graphics are amazing! especially in comparison to Panzer corps and Front-line series. + Air operations are on call basis, and does not eat from your prestige/requisition (YES finally prestige is back) points. That is truly great because having directly in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another WW2 turn-based game coming short to 'Panzer Corps 2'. Not that bad like 'Klotzen!' but still mediocre at best...maybe some DLCs and proper updates can help in the future, at the moment the game feels half done. So at this point no recommendation.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like turn-based WWII games similar to Panzer General, Panzer Corps, Order of Battle or Strategic Mind you will, likely, enjoy this game! I especially like the fact that up to 3 units can occupy the same hex and attack simultaneously for a combined arms advantage.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a Panzer General veteran, I feel that there are many neat ideas to celebrate and applaud here, but frankly, the shortcomings -as few as they are- pretty much messed up the game for me. I really dig things like extended attack distance for certain units (e.g. two hexes attack range for tanks), allowing multiple units in the same hex, assault, morale and such. I also love that Panzer Corps' ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slot system (where under certain circumstances a Panzer II has the same slot requirements as a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →🌟 Total Tank Generals: A Tactical Battlefield Experience 🌟 Total Tank Generals throws you into the battlefield with its turn-based movement system. Unlike other strategy games, it shines with smaller-scale battles played on maps typically sized 20x20 or up to 30x40 hexes. This allows for focused tactical decisions and faster matches. Dive into four campaigns, each featuring seven missions. Take command of iconic leaders like Rommel, Patton, and Zhukov, leading their forces in iconic…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game reminds me alot of panzer tactics hd. I played it alot back in the day. The enemy AI is really agressive which makes me really think out the situations. Very immersive if you like strategical war games and if u want to out smart your enemy. However, the current UI is a bit slow and you can't customize the size of it. The only thing I don't like gameplay wise is how OP the artillery is, I've been crossmapping poor dudes that didn't know that the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ blitzkrieg was coming. Edit:…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →what i think after finishing the extended rommel campaign: - units should be customizable, at least in color, cammo etc. I ended up with a sea of brownish units on a brownish map. I need to know which units press the advantage vs which have the overrun ability without having to look at the small pictograms. Big deal. - 'undo action' button should exist. A condition would be if the unit didn't fire/got fired upon - a clear, thorough and easily accesible menu of the units lost /destroyed - better…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good middle ground between the scale of Total War type games and the "intricate" strategies of games like Xcom. Features videos that detail the generals a little more in depth than most games would bother with. It also has authentic pictures of the regiments in the unit cards, which I'd like to believe they are of the regiment the image represents in-game but even if not, it is a nice touch. Gameplay is smooth so far, it reminds me of scaled out Xcom though I don't have much time in those…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Units just freeze and then if you reload the go they have been removed from the map. Pretty frustrating to lose a unit or two each round, especially units that have you've been developing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic game for wargamers who love turn based Hex WW2 games!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice visual, awful gameplay. Missing shot simulator. Only 6 missions per side, 18 missions total. Asked refund, still waiting
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feels like much more dynamic Panzer Corps. Free resupply, 3 units per hex, longer artillery range, planes as skills rather than separate units, pool of action points so you can attack multiple times. It all makes gameplay a bit faster and battles more aggressive. Campaign seems to be quite short, although there are 3 of them so I don't know yet how long it will last for. Default difficulty is more forgiving than in Panzer Corps, it might be due to the resupply system, as you don't have to spend…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Units replenish to 100% after leveling up.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Totally ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ass. First level is completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ uneven, you can't even compete with the 9,000 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tanks Britain gets, and you get stuck in a feedback loop if you even dare to run out of ammo or get demoralized. Actually ♥♥♥♥ this game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The unit animations makes this game so much better to enjoy and watch how they shoot at each other , also I added a camo skin mod for all of the units in the game. 9/10 WW2 strategy game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good ai and fun turn based game. 5 stars
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For me it's mostly frustrating because of how many turns you have to succeed with Brilliant victory which the first few missions is absurd, and later while it did get easier for the Rommel campaign, the extended as well as Zhukov and Patton campaigns are to me undeniably much harder to even finish the first mission. Even the Rommel regular campaign was difficult and most of the hours I had to reset over and over until I got it, so if it's possible I would like a refund for it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I find it very enjoyable, though am an expert Xcom player so I'm used to dealing with RNG. If you didn't like Xcom do to the RNG, don't pick up this game. General tip for people who don't know how to deal with the RNG; always have a backup plan in case it fails. If something is vital, overkill it. Only take a big risk if you will lose if you don't take that chance. 70% chance to hit is basically a 1 in 3 chance if you missing. You will miss, a lot. There are a couple small things I wish would…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game despite the recent 'mixed' reviews, and glad I did! I have been a fan of strategy games for over 25 years, and spent a lot of time on the Panzer General kind of games, and I must say this new version is playing very well! Yes, it has some random elements, but every war does and with careful planning strategy is still by far the overriding factor in the outcome.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game keeps crashing, waste of my F'ing money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Panzer General 3d we all wanted in the 90's, just need more content to devour!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game! It is demanding: I haven't won at 100% prestige level, but have won at 80 or 90%. The game provides many scenarios, both bundled in campaigns and as stand alone. Mechanics are very good, requiring a commander to marshal resources, and to resupply troops and cycle in reserves to avoid annihilation. I have also been able to create my own scenario despite the lack of a guide; it''s fairly intuitive, but I haven't figured out how to make an enemy super relentlessly…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →worth 10 EUR max...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dreadful game, ridiculously amateurish - games like this should not be produced or sold, asked for an instant refund!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was playing the Campaign on normal difficulty and my first enemy i see is a horse it has 18 hard armor and soft armor which is 3x more than my medium tank i have and processes to assault my tank and infantry and make them retreat. AT gun in a Ambush Processes to Miss 3 shots in a row which also getting the first shot, against a enemy light tank and then runs away then gets destroyed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →AI cheats, never misses while you will miss every 3rd or 4th shot. Completely outnumbered to the point of ridiculousness as the AI continues to spam waves of fresh tanks and infantry into your positions. The lopsidedness grows continually worst as you progress through campaigns. Im all for a challenge but this is game is not fun, at all...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Total Tank Generals is like any other Hex-based strategy game, however here there is 4 campaigns (with more to possibly come?) that introduce reoccurring units from your previous missions keeping all their experience and skills. The AI is harsh and unforgiving and I love it for that. it also includes a excellent and endlessly entertaining map editor that you can design maps and challenges for others to play through steam also, the UI is slick and gorgeous. This is everything you could possibly…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game is great but getting 3 stars requires all luck and no skill, and the new campaign is impossible
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game massively enhanced my history knowledge because of it's general biography, enhanced my strategic thinkiing and also kept me thinking the entire time. If you get too good at the game you can bump up the difficulty level by allowing the AI to put more units onto the battlefield. Best strategy game I've played in a long time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun war game! Some interesting new spins on well loved mechanics. I really like the up to 3 units per hex, and the ability to group up units to assault an enemy hex in an "all or nothing" push. Adjustable difficulty too, for those that want a more fun, less retries/tears session to relax :) And the campaign scenarios I have tried so far are a good size, enough units and map to be interesting, but turns are fast and furious and you can easily maintain context on the overall battle. Recommended…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Surprisingly good! Combat rewards correct tactics: Artillery and air strikes are necessary to soften up and demoralize defenders. Tanks and anti-tank guns fire from range (2 or 3 hexes) to weaken infantry and knock out enemy tanks. Infantry occupies built-up areas, forests, and rough terrain, and makes assaults against weakened foes. The game even utilizes air cover missions and anti-air guns to shoot down enemy air strikes. The game feels very right for the period and allows equipment…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →an addicting turned based game. It is simple enough that you can get by with only understanding the distance and power of your units' attacks but challenging enough that you need to understand a little more than just that to win. There are some annoying parts of the game where the enemy suddenly appears out of nowhere and attacks you and successfully completes an assault on 3 of your units. In reality, the enemy has units just 1 tier higher than you can possibly get, which is unfair to be…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game looked very exciting, im a huge fan of turn based strategy games but this just wasn't to my liking. Seems to favor AI in almost every scenario. No real tutorial on stats for units and some seem downright backwards, from artillery missing at point blank range to running out of ammo and wasting whole turns resupplying. The game has the right idea just not well thought out with the combat. Ended up being endless frustration. I ended up returning the game and don't recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is maybe the worst war game every produced. It sucks, you cannot play it normally, Unity of Command 2 is far superior to this piece for crap. Looks like it was designed by a 3 year old. Do not buy this game it is not enjoyable to play.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun, easy to pick up but there's enough depth for experienced strategy players too
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Total Tank Generals, developed by Noobz From Poland and published by 505 Games, is a turn-based strategy game that wears its influences openly while trying to refine them into a more streamlined and approachable experience. Rooted in the traditions of classic hex-based war games, it places players in command of World War II forces under the leadership of well-known generals, but it avoids overwhelming complexity in favor of clarity and steady tactical engagement. The result is a game that feels…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great Game. Good options for changing difficulty. Animations are good. Strategy is good. Really like it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Total Tank General is a distinctive, well-rounded, and solid game that offers a beer and pretzel experience, yet also incorporates some noteworthy strategic elements, along with Aircraft control not just Airstrikes, allowing players to purchase units or upgrade core units. I found the gameplay to be slow and meticulous, yet strategically challenging, prompting careful consideration of unit upgrades and replacements. The game's graphics and sound effects are commendable, although the soundtrack…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A perfect halfway point between the simplicity of "Advance Wars" and more advanced games like "Panzer Tactics". Very nice tooltips make the game easily understood. I wish "Second Front" was as well presented and simple to play as this game! I don't understand the RNG complaints in other reviews, feels completely fair and there's even three options for the difficulty including easier hits when using sustained attacks.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →yes defiinitely i enjoyed the tactical game play in the vein of a ww2 strategy game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played many games of this genre and as itsnt of hight grafhic value (good enough, better with mods) I like the depth of the Unit progress with different skill path. Also I must say that the devs dont know how to comunicate with us costumers. I even send an email to the game company togheter with a google translate in their native toung (polish) but in vain. Still I love the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great war game in the style of the original Panzer General. I like being able to build units strength and acquire more powerful units as the campaign progresses. There is some really cool vintage WW2 as well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wont go into detail about the mechanics as I haven't played the game much yet at the time of writing this review. What I will say though is that the game gives you an AI opponent that actually fights back in a meaningful way. If you enjoyed the responsive AI of games like Unity of Command or Hex of Steel, you might enjoy this game. It however takes place at a more tactical scale with different weapon ranges and overwatch fire, as well as a flexible AP system, that feels somewhat similar to…
