Imagine having a 99% probability of shooting someone, point-blank, WITH YOUR GUN ALREADY IN THEIR FACE, and missing all five shots, just for on the next turn, you get one-shot sniped with a pistol, by an unseen enemy who is two stories below, behind eight concrete walls and two cars, and was born legally blind, who somehow, still kills you with a 2% chance, Thats just with the numbers the game displays, which apparently have ZERO correlation with the actual game mechanics, because enemies do…

To me at least, this was a complete waste of money. The so called "sandbox" mode is just you spending some time to "beat" the level. There is no competition, no one to fight, no trying to muscle in on you. You just build up, paying off police now and then to lose "heat" until you own everything in the *miniscule* maps available. If you enjoy, short, predictable games that you can win with ease then you'll like this. If you were hoping for a gangster strategy game...there is no strategy in…

This is no Organized Crime or Gangsters 2. Its better than Empire of Sin, but a lot worse than the other Gangster themed titles that came out 20 years ago. Less features, less customization, less randomness its just the same, empty slog with no actual adversity that most Sim games are these days. If you would like to discover where these games came from and how little they've improved, take a look at my review below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5ABoLVBi9c

I've played through this game three or four times since I bought it and I enjoy it despite it's flaws. It's fun, I find it therapeutic, and the turn based combat is simple enough that I don't feel the need to have to look up strategies, but deep enough that there are some tactical decisions to make. Sometimes the RNG will get you, it's generally worth saving before important battles so you can load if necessary. The gameplay loop is fairly simple, you send your henchmen out to buy and renovate…

In the game, you have to constantly wait for certain events to happen, but there is no way to somehow rewind or speed up this time, so you end up just sitting and looking at the monitor doing nothing, it's incredibly stupid

Omerta - City of Gangsters is a console ported hybrid tycoon management and turn based tactical strategy game. Control an organised crime Mafia group in Atlantic City in the 1920's. Grow your empire with the stategic management and deal with your enemies in the turn based tactical combat phase. This should be a license to print money for Kalypso but as they often do, terrible decisions were made. It's especially bad considered the high marketing and advertising budget that was send down…

I actually liked the tactical combat part of this game, but the strategic layer is about as deep as a Facebook clicker game. What's worse, nothing that happens in the tactical combat really carries over. Your characters only level up at certain points in the story so doing any extra tactical combat is just a massive waste of time outside mandatory story missions. In fact, I ended up just auto-resolving combat and oddly never failed that roll, which was weird. A game with a great setting and…

I made a effort to finish the game after years of not playing it and it was fun till I hit a impossible mission on hard. I mid maxed my people and have a solid plan but IDK I'm just done and am moving onto more exciting games. It did hold my interest in many good ways but well I'm just done with it. I do not want to thumbs down the game but I really can't recommend this older game to anyone today.

If you are looking for a game like Gangsters 1 + 2, then this is absolutely not it. This game combines micromanagment and turnbased strategy into a really nice game. Sure, it is not a masterpiece, but still a good game. Just don't expect Gangsters, expect something like X-COM and some trading game.

This could be a really nice game since it is a mixture of management simulation and turn based strategy. Sadly it fails in both. The Management is pretty shallow. You occupy/rent houses and establish an "enterprise" there. They all have one specific trait. Like printing money or improving your reputation. This then gives more money giving you the opportunity to get a new house or upgrade one of the existing ones. The second mechanic of the game sadly also falls short. The turn based combat is…

Feels like something that seems interesting at first but then falls short as you work your way through the campaign. Gang size is limited to 4, and sometimes 3 on missions, where your taking on 7 or more enemies. Perks system for bonuses, and the other elements like muscle, toughness, etc don't make much sense, as if they were put there to help the mechanics of game play. Percentages to hit in combat also feel more randomised rather than realistic. I can miss several times in a row with high…

Wow, This game sucks big fat hairy sweaty monkey balls. How is the developer even still in business? I forgot why I uninstalled this game and decided to try it again after several years. Wow what a mistake. What is the point of having a cover system if it doesn't supply cover. The enemy can literally shoot you through any cover you are behind, every enemy has a multiple attack move that they can spam at least twice, EVERY enemy has a return fire. Seriously WTF? This is like 3 or 4 episodes…

Ok, so I recently install the game again after not playing it for 7 years. I couldn't remember why I stopped playing it back then and it took me a couple of hours to figure it out. This is not fundamentally bad game, it just gets repetitive very quickly and the story is extremely non-engaging so the whole experience becomes boring grinding with very little reward. I wouldn't buy it again, even on sale.

The Good Voice acting, sound design and music is great. The Bad The game plays very similarly to a mobile game. It's a money making engine where you earn money to acquire real estate. You aquire real estate so you can build a venture that will help you earn more money. Rinse. Repeat. Gameplay designed is marred by player restriction. Each stage/level has a limited number of buildings spots. Empire building is very restrictive as you eventually run out of things to do very quickly.…

One of the only things you need to know is that melee attacks go through walls. Yep, you can punch and kick right through walls, just get close to your target and if there's a window or doorway nearby you'll kick or punch right through the wall - not the opening - and strike them as if they weren't behind cover at all. Overall the gameplay is repetitive and kind of dull in the early stages and it doesn't get much better as you progress. Send minions (or yourself) to various buildings with…

Omerta: City of Gangster is a “What's the Rumpus?” simulator/mafia simulation turn-based tactical combat game developed by Haemimont Games and released for the PC and the Xbox 360. I don’t know anything about the development of this game as information seems to be slim to zilch but the developers had previously worked on Roman city-building games as well as taking charge of development of Tropicos 3-5. In fact, that’s how I originally got into this game was hearing about how the guys developed…

A Title Worth Your Time But Sandwiched by HUGE Games Around Its Time 48 Hours. 78% Achievements. If I'd give this one a number, it'd be a 6.67 out of 10. And a huge part of that rating comes down to its presentation. Game was released on 2012 and you're playing as a mafia boss during the 1920s. Not really a 1920's expert but I feel like they have surely nailed immersing me as a player to my role, even with the isometric camera view during the strategic and tactical combat parts of the game.…

I owned this game for many years and never gave it much thought since the interface and graphics didn't grab me. I was disappointed with all the new mafia games that came out so I gave this game another shot. Even though the economy isn't that deep and the combat is hit or miss. Once you get farther in the campaign, get some money coming in, get your crew some good weapons the game is lots of fun. The story line is satisfactory and keeps up well with the atmosphere. Probably my biggest gripe…

This game is completely average in all aspects but I had fun the entire time and I'm not sure exactly why. It plays like a management browser flash game from the 00s mixed with XCOM style battles. I would highly recommend the Japanese Incentive DLC, it's much better than the main campaign. The missions are more difficult, varied and makes better use of the games mechanics.

I have mixed feelings about this game, but have concluded that I should not recommend it, as it has more negative aspects than positives. Starting on the positives, as you start to play the game, the game atmosphere is nice, especially if you like the 1920’s in USA (gangster’s and bootlegging stuff). The campaign story is well voice-acted and the sound track is cool, but the constant repetition of secondary characters voicing is tiresome (the same expression repeatedly in all side jobs).…

Omerta feels like it would make a better phone game. I can imagine playing 5 to 10 minute sessions on my phone while I take a dookie and that would be a fine enough way to kill some time. This is simply not good enough of a game to dedicate sitting hours on a PC to.

It's a "middle of the road" strategy game. The economy mechanics are simple, the combat mechanics are pretty simple as well. If you're new to the strategy/economy game genre you will probably have some fun with this game. But if you are experienced in these types of games, it doesn't really scratch "that itch".

Too grindy and not engaging enough. So many better turn-based/strategy games out there. Also, when playing in 4K the UI is not scaled at all and all text becomes hard to read. This is, of course, a modern gamer's problem but I thought it may be worth pointing out. Many decade-ish old (and older) games have the same problem that makes them less appealing for people with modern high-res screens.

The catchphrases are one highlight of this game, for sure. But let's start from the beginning: Omerta - City of Gangsters is a great representation of mafia-themed games.
