What people are saying

Mixed: praised for co-op and world, but slammed for technical issues and Ubisoft's paywall.

Many players praise the co-op experience and the vast, beautiful open world of Bolivia. One player calls it "Best co-op game ever" and another says it's "a power trip, but a very fun one." [7][3]

However, severe technical issues plague modern hardware, especially Intel 12th-gen CPUs, causing infinite loading screens. Players also allege Ubisoft removed previously free content and put it behind a paywall, calling it "scummy" and the definition of scummy. [4][14][23][29]

Praised co-op gameplay · open world and setting

Yesterday you could get everything in-game by playing the game, today they removed that feature and now if you want everything in game you have to pay real money for it. They essentially removed the entire endgame gameplay loop and put the rewards you could previously earn from gameplay into the cash shop instead. Yesterday I was planning to buy more Ubisoft games. Today I am not.

Ubisoft released a "big update" which was just them taking pre-existing content and putting it behind a paywall. You now have to pirate the game to play it in its original form. Actual scammers, Steam should delist every Ubisoft game for this kind of behavior.

I love this game to death. The Bolivia setting is beautiful, the gameplay is genuinely so much fun and gives you so much freedom, and the story itself isn't bad either. HOWEVER, Modern Hardware 8 years newer than this game will often see frame drops and VERY LONG initial loading times. If you have a modern Intel processor (12th Gen/Alder Lake i5 or newer), the game will likely fail to boot. The culprit is the 8-year-old Anti-Cheat code. It doesn't handle modern hybrid CPU architecture, so it…

Wildlands has been one of my favourite games for years, and it's been great to see it be given some much needed love for the 25th Anniversary. The free update, QOL features, Last Rites mission, re-licensing the Predator mission, and anniversary gifts are awesome- and I can fully understand a few bugs coming along with poking about a nearly decade old game. But Ubisoft's keen-as-ever buisness acumen on this is borderline insane. Good news is a bunch of the premium store stuff has been…

After not touching the game for 2 years I figured I would play again after friends showed interest. Whatever updates Wildlands received within last year or so- now prevents the game from loading from Steam- most likely CPU related, only way to fix it is through F***ing with the bios so good luck.

You released a gigantic update in 2026 and didn't fix the issue stopping people from playing the game on modern hardware. There are people who are still having to fumble around in the bios to play your game and you gave 4k support to modern consoles instead of a small fix to make the game playable for PC players.

The END of the game content that I paid for when I bought the game has been ripped from my hands and Ubisoft is asking for more money for it! Ubisoft can go fuq themselves in the ass with a cactus 🌵🖕 If a developer responds to this review, they can do the same, there are plenty of cacti here in the desert for them all to shove up…

Ghost Recon Wildlands has been out for a few years now, and it still holds up remarkably well in 2026 . The Bolivia map is one of the most underrated open worlds in the genre . It's not just big for the sake of being big: you go from dazzling salt flats to dense jungles to snowy Andean peaks, and each region has its own visual and tactical identity . It genuinely changes how you approach missions . The freedom of approach is real: pure stealth, frontal assault, remote sabotage... the game…

The rivers? Perfect for crashing my helicopter into. Now instead of spending money on real travel, I just open Wildlands, climb a digital hill, and watch the sunset with my sniper rifle. Now I don’t need to waste money on real travel

If you have a newer CPU, don't expect this to work. I heard that disabling hyperthreading or E-cores in BIOS can work. I personally have an I9-13900F, and ran into the issue. Disabling hyperthreading worked for me, but it's not worth it. I don't want to go into bios everytime i play and then everytime afterwards, since.. HT is actually a good thing. If Ubisoft is interested in our money, they should work on the compatibility of the game instead of putting that on us.
