He wanted that Al Pacino money, and Paramount said "lol nope." They should have backed the money truck up to Duvall's house, because *obviously.*

Famous for its perfect acoustics and also for the final scenes of Francis Ford Coppola's film The Godfather Part III (1990), which were filmed at the theatre. #photography #palermo #sicily #thegodfather

unlabelledView post →itself in that same unfortunate territory as The Godfather Part III. Similarly, The Godfather Part III isn't *bad,* not at all! Its problem is that it's a good movie that has to follow a flawless watershed movie. So it was with Spidey 3 having to follow such a dizzyingly impeccable predecessor.

unlabelledView post →I'm glad there was some positive talk about THE GODFATHER PART III, because I think one of that one's real strengths is Diane Keaton's performance - she's terrific, of course, and her scenes with Pacino are freighted with history between them in a way that's just what that film should offer.

unlabelledView post →That's a pretty low bar: 1991 - Winner - DANCES WITH WOLVES AWAKENINGS GHOST THE GODFATHER, PART III GOOD FELLAS Godfather III was largely disliked at the time, nominated because it's a Godfather film. Even now it's 66% on RottenTomatoes. Ghost and Dances with Wolves were pretty trash. Better movies in the last decade? Don't even have to really think too hard about it, Everything Everwhere All At Once. Both Spider-Verse movies.

Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) makes a last effort to wash clean the sins of his family by purchasing a Vatican-linked business - only to find himself at the center of a conspiracy. A good film that just can't live up to its predecessors. bit.ly/479ea9x

unlabelledView post →Today's film was The Godfather Part III (1990). I watched the newer Coda cut. What a nothing of an ending to this trilogy. It's obvious that nobody's heart was in this one. And it was just cruel to put Sofia Coppola into this when she wasn't able to do it.

Michael's denouement, however convoluted the path to get there, is poetically just, and the confession is powerful.
