Some viewers find the film a fun, energetic buddy action movie with great chemistry between the leads. [1][2][3] Others criticize the excessive violence, fat jokes, and formulaic script. [4][5][6] A few note it offers more depth and cultural nuance than expected. [7][8][9]

WHAT AN AWESOME MOVIE! This movie is the best feel good movie I've seen in a long while. The dynamic between Momoa & Batista is exactly how siblings treat each other. The best part (to me.) was how the film showed the dynamic of the way Hawaiian families treat each other and treat the land. I can't gush about this movie enough...10/10

80's buddy cop movie, updated. This reminds me a lot of buddy cop movies from the 80s or Hobbs and Shaw. But this movie also has a functioning dysfunctional dynamic between the main characters. A bad guy that works, phenomenal casting, and also great selection of music. It's simply a good enough time and I'm happy that this got made. It's great to see Dave doing something like this and he gets some room to breathe. …

"The Wrecking Crew" is aptly named. This action flick, for me, early on wrecked any chance that I'd actually enjoy this film. I'll put my hand up and say I'm sick and tired of the gratuitous violence oozing out of Hollywood. The light, jokey tone of this film is at odds with oftentimes really ugly violence. Entirely smashing someone's upper teeth against a table in the opening scenes is one such example. It's not …

This film doesn't pass the Bechdel test, which is disappointing in 2026 yet unsurprising for your usual action film. The women were great in the film but they weren't given much to play with from the script, it was all focussed on the male characters. The "comedy" is cringy. There must be over 10 fat "jokes" if you're going to tell a fat joke, at least make it funny and have some originality but most of them were …

I regret to inform you that I have reviewed The Wrecking Crew, a film that includes the zingers (20 minutes apart, both from Jason Momoa): “Fuck you, fat Jackie Chan!” and “Oh look, it’s fat John Cena.” www.avclub.com/the-wrecking...
How this was made: an AI model (deepseek-v4-flash) read 34 of the 233 public posts we collected about this film and wrote the summary, likes and dislikes, citing the posts behind each point ([n] opens the post). A second AI pass checked every statement against the posts it cites; anything it could not match was removed, and code removed any statement with quotation marks, numbers that are not in the posts, or unattributed claims about people. The split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Generated Oct 10, 2026. Method
Critics, per Wikipedia
On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 74% of 70 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 6.1/10. The website's consensus reads: "The Wrecking Crew is as brawny and disarmingly charming as its two leading men, smashing through a thin story with colorful pyrotechnics and a satisfying amount of attitude." On Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, the film holds a score of 67/100 based on 15 critics, indicating "generally favorable" reviews.

It has a binding theme, forgiveness, and is filled with journalistic details of Hawaiian culture." www.rogerebert.com/reviews/the-...

Also well worth watching: Don Was’ “Brian Wilson: I Just Wasn’t Made For These Times.” Both on Prime. youtu.be/uVlSVkzbJDA

neutral · AI labelView post →"Why is every streaming blockbuster so bad?" Sorry Patrick Willems, I ain't watching that. First, I don't agree. And second, I'm not going to sit there and watch you weasel out of every exception just to justify your clickbait. Instead I'm going to rewatch The Wrecking Crew, a streaming movie.👍

negative · AI labelView post →I enjoyed the Bautista/Momoa buddy movie THE WRECKING CREW. Their bickering isn't always funny but the action is very good and they're allowed to break down and be vulnerable, which is my favorite thing to see these actors do.
positive · AI labelView post →apparently Amazon Prime manages to bang out one good action movie a year. in 2025 it was Heads of State. is The Wrecking Crew this year's winner?

Jason Mamoa has several genuinely funny moments. Quality fight scenes #FilmSky 📽️
positive · AI labelView post →“What makes THE WRECKING CREW worth seeing is what the cast and filmmakers do with the material. Simply put, this movie is better than its synopsis suggests,” writes @mattzollerseitz.bsky.social.
neutral · AI labelView post →The Wrecking Crew (2026) is a solid buddy cop flick! Its about two Hawaiian brothers solving the murder of their P.I. father, and while the plot plays out about how you'd expect the movie excels in its characters, its comedy and its action. I had a great time with this one. 👍

If you are as passionate about the music of the 1950's-1970's, with real emphasis on rock n roll of the 1960's, it's worth your time. Highly interesting. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wre...

positive · AI labelView post →FXMovies is at the point in ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD that Sharon Tate sees the marquee for THE WRECKING CREW. I feel constrained to point out that I have since subjected myself to that film. And while Tate is indeed the high point, the film is a terrible in almost every way
negative · AI labelView post →Watched The Wrecking Crew last night with my daughter and sister. We had a blast watching this! Was genuinely shocked how entertaining it was! Good dumb fun movie!
positive · AI labelView post →The Wrecking Crew: straight up late 80s buddy action film. It’s very dumb, there’s some retrograde humor they could have done without, some creative and brutal fight scene deaths, but the highlight is Mamoa and Bautista’s dialogue and chemistry. I will also watch Morena Baccarin read the phone book.
neutral · AI labelView post →In the scene where Sharon goes to a showing of her movie The Wrecking Crew, QT made the decision to use the actual film rather than recreate it with Robbie. This was done out of respect to the real Sharon Tate, so she appears on screen. 40/47

positive · AI labelView post →Heading into Easter, here’s another actress in a photo shoot, the lovely Sharon Tate. Here she’s doing publicity for the Matt Helm film The Wrecking Crew. Sadly, it was her last movie released before her death.
neutral · AI labelView post →Just watched The Wrecking Crew with my mom. I wish my brother was watching with us, but he was asleep at the time. Since it's a buddy cop movie about two half-brothers. I loved it, it was thoroughly entertaining and it somehow had themes that resonated well with me, made me think of my own brother.
positive · AI labelView post →Another film from Amazon, this time in a cinema. CRIME 101: thankfully better than THE WRECKING CREW, tho doesn't come close to its obvious role model, HEAT. Starring Mark Ruffalo as Pacino, Chrs Hemsworth as De Niro, Nick Nolte as Voight, Barry Keoghan as Waingro, Monia Barbaro as Amy Brenneman.

neutral · AI labelView post →The plot of "The Wrecking Crew" (2026) is nothing to write home about, the pacing is kind of off, and the movie really missed the layup of saying something *real* about colonialism in Hawaii. But the action is really good and Bautista and Momoa actually ACT and do a good job at that. Worth a watch.
