The Wolf's Call
Shown from the perspective of a young submariner with unusually sensitive hearing and uncannily precise sound recognition. The fate of many often depends on his ability, and one time, whilst highly stressed, he makes a incorrect call which put his entire crew in mortal danger. Trying to regain the confidence of his comrades, he conducts an unauthorised investigation of an apparent plot which, it turns out, risks… From TMDB

As an ex-nuc sub sailor I have to say it had more real life authenticity than most Hollywood movies (though I love those too ;-) White-knuckle suspense and action. Highly recommend. garyalanhenson.blogspot.com

Also, some of the dialogue is cheesy and weak. I don't care. It's as good as "Hunt for Red October" or "Crimson Tide."

unlabelledView post →Possibly the most accurate modern Sub movie is "The Wolf's Call". Not completely accurate, but much closer than "Crimson Tide" and "Red October". For earlier periods it has to be "Das Boot" followed closely by "Run Silent Run Deep" (although Burt Lancaster's ego ruined a great book)

unlabelledView post →I really enjoyed The Wolf's Call, too, it's almost as cheesy and spectacular! Also, the only film I know with a sonar specialist protagonist
unlabelledView post →There is a large section of the film set out of the water, but once back under the waves it moves more quickly, the story putting all its weight on Chanteraide's ears. If you're howling for a slice of Tom Clancy-esque military action cheese, you'll enjoy 'The Wolf's Call'. - Jake Watt Read Jake's full article... https://www.maketheswitch.com.au/article/review-the-wolfs-call-suspense-silliness-and-sonar-sweeps

I made a quick search on IMDb and it looked like it might, finally, be a good French made movie. Apart from Louis de Funès comedies that is, I really love most of those. Well, it turned out to be a huge disappointment. I guess I should have checked a bit more. For instance the fact that the oxygen wasting “critics” at Rotten…
