positive · AI labelView post →Despite being nitpicky, I don't need comic book movies to be 100% accurate to the source material. For example, Punisher's first introduction in Spider-Man also introduces The Jackal. I hate The Jackal. He's not in the current movie. GOOD. lol
neutral · AI labelView post →Some of you responded to this by telling me to see the original 1973 Day of the Jackal. So I did that this morning. Awesome flick. defector.com/gun-assembly...

neutral · AI labelView post →If you like the new DAY OF THE JACKAL series, then do yourself a massive favour & check out the 1973 film version of the Frederick Forsyth book of the same name. I wrote about why Zinnerman's film is so good in my Substack newsletter almost a year ago. andrewnette.substack.com/p/the-day-of...
neutral · AI labelView post →Peacock's "The Day of the Jackal" is a damn good movie or four-hour miniseries stretched into 10-hour something that could possibly be ongoing beyond that. [Yes. Everything is filler-heavy this week. That's because 75% of what's on TV is THE WRONG LENGTH.]
neutral · AI labelView post →kid’s in here talking about Minecraft Movie stuff like “you know the actors who play Steve and Garrett” “yeah man we should watch Aquaman. Also, Steve’s in this great movie called Day Of The Jackal, we’ll watch it sometime”
neutral · AI labelView post →We decided to watch Season 1 of Day of the Jackal (2024), so of course I started with watching the original 1973 film. Both were fantastic, but I'm amazed at how well the show reimagined it as a present-day thriller with a very different plot, while simultaneously a faithful remake of the film.
neutral · AI labelView post →Underrated film run was “Jack Black right before becoming famous” where he played; 1) stupid weed arms dealer in The Jackal 2) stupid weed white guy with dreadlocks in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer
neutral · AI labelView post →Watching the video of the suspect running past a bunch of "security," I said "no one in this administration has watched a movie ever, in their lives." In the Line of Fire (Eastwood), Day of the Jackal, I mean come on people. It's almost like they WANT something to happen (also fine)
neutral · AI labelView post →Did you know that The Outfoxies is Namco's take on a game as a form of interactive movie? It directly took influences from such cinematic masterpieces as Die Hard, Day of the Jackal, The Greatest Show on Earth & the decidedly not a masterpiece Jaws 3 Well, they do both have a shark🦈
neutral · AI labelView post →TV RECOMMENDATIONS: The Penguin - more The Sopranos than comic book show. Acting, writing, directing all A+ The Franchise - comedy about the making of a big Marvel-esque movie. Love it, but I work in the biz. Wondering if others who don't will. The Day of the Jackal - 3 episodes in and I'm hooked
neutral · AI labelView post →Books to film 📚=🎞️ The Bourne Identity (1980) by Robert Ludlum was adapted to film (2002) by Doug Liman. The novel is a Cold War espionage centered on Carlos the Jackal whereas the film shifts to a CIA assassin program. The film becomes a critique of authority & deep state. 🕵️♂️🚗💨 #filmsky #booksky

positive · AI labelView post →I might be being a bit slow here but I’ve only just twigged that Day of the Jackal tv series assassination target Ullee Dag Charles is an anagram of Day of the Jackal movie assassination target Charles De Gaulle.

To mark his passing and to explain what I mean by that, check out my Substack newsletter from a while ago on Fred Zinnerman’s 1973 film adaptation of Forsythe’s THE DAY OF THE JACKAL. andrewnette.substack.com/p/the-day-of...

neutral · AI labelView post →To mark the passing of author Frederick Forsyth, let's run through his key texts adapted for cinema. 1973's The Day of the Jackal sticks closely to the book, with Edward Fox as the killer out to take down the French President in a tense, detailed thriller. 5/5 film-authority.com/2024/11/15/t...

THE DEATH OF THE JACKAL features a killer in classic Giallo style, murdering lovers, strippers, and women in ill-advised all-white ensembles in this wild take on US slashers. unlabelledView post →All of the excitement around miniseries version of The Day of the Jackal made me realise I'd never seen the 1973 film - and it's very good, though those scenic shots of 1970s Paris are utterly glorious 👌

Now it looks like I'm watching this Peacock series b/c damned if this slow burning cat-and-mouse didn't catch me. Should've known since it has Eddie Redmayne and Lashana Lynch as leads. #tvsky

unlabelledView post →One thing I really liked about the 60s Day of the Jackal movie was how the creators weaponised this against the audience. Just when you started to root for the competent, cool assassin, they hit you _hard_ with how flat-out evil he was (and that you'd have to be to do that job).

There a state-authorized set of actors redressed the crimes committed at the Munich Olympics. Fredrick Forsyth’s Day of the Jackal seems to have a similar bearing on the bad actors in this world.
