Although I enjoy a mental challenge, The Soujourn has finally worn me out. Gameplay can be summarized as 'solve puzzle' and then 'move to next puzzle.' Although the scenery is lovely and the sound track enjoyable, the repetitive nature of the challenges is exhausting. This is compounded by the fact that there is no reward for solving a puzzle. Instead, you just move along to the next one. The story begins with following beings of light into an environment that unfolds before you. At first,…

Game starts with fifteen levels that are almost entirely logical combination puzzles. Then switches to one of those exasperating just-in-time challenges that require you to clickthenturnthenclickthenmovethenturnandrunlikeHell in tenth-of-a-second windows. I know there are lots of people who like those games. But getting fifteen levels in without needing any of the necessary reflexes and other skills, only to find the game has become unplayable without them, is utterly maddening. See, we just…

The Sojourn It's hard to say much about The Sojourn as it's a puzzle game without actual storytelling and it doesn't show us anything that we haven't seen in other games before. It's that type of game where you can't say anything bad about it but at the same time it's rather tedious - it's very unlikely that you'd want to complete it in one play session. It has nice visuals, it's polished and there's pleasant music most of the time. However, there are better alternatives like The Witness that…

I had to go for the less than an hours play refund. If I'd persevered then maybe it would have improved but there was no obvious story line and the game play was linear and gave no indication that this would change at any time. The world looked really beautiful and I was looking forward to exploring but you have to follow these light fairies around all the time. The puzzles were just a variation on a theme and got boring very quickly.

The Sojourn, a high quality puzzle game with some interesting and well made mechanics that just feels off somehow. The positive: I love the mechanics, the dark world, the introduction of new elements is very fair and slow to get you used to it before hitting you with harder stuff. There's about 5 core ones and all are original, any more than the amount they have would be too much for my mind to handle. The ability to cheese puzzles is great in this, and both a blessing and a curse. Because…

What would otherwise have been a truly fascinating "almost entirely pure puzzle" game, with mechanics that bend your mind in all sorts of fascinating ways, is COMPLETELY RUINED for me because -- just every once in a while -- you need to do something with split-second precision timing. WHY do developers do this? For the vast majority of the game, you have time to sit back, think, listen to relaxing music, move around, figure out just how you're gonna manage to get from point A to point B while…

You know that friend you have in college who just discovered philosophy and thinks they've reached enlightenment? That's Sojourn. All the pretense and exterior beauty of philosophy and none of the meaningful substance. For better solving and more philosophically impactful story play Talos Principle or The Witness... or probably a million other titles.

So... I got this on sale and I am a huge nerd for puzzles of all kinds. BUT, I cannot say this game is a thing to recommend to just anybody. If you want to know the experience this game gives you just do some real puzzles and instead of lore or story or anything that has to do with the actual game, just open a fortune cookie that is most of the time poorly worded. That's this game. It's art is wonderful and the story could be great [if they had more than ~20 seconds of it] The music is nice [if…

The Sojourn gives me a mixed feeling It looks beautiful, but the puzzles and rules are sometimes questionable, especially the time part with the harps. Some puzzles can be solved by breaking the rules and not by logic. This for me is a dealbreaker and somewhat ruins the game Some puzzles are well designed, but then others are beyond insane with too many steps and backtracking. They added a "story" but it has no purpose, no meaning en no explanation. it's just there to make the game look more…

I really liked the concept and had high hopes here. At first it was fun. However, the puzzles are extremely repetitive, and in many cases overcomplicated for no reason, and plain boring. I very often had a situation where the puzzle was almost done, but a small detail was missing - however to get there and change it, I had to redo most of the puzzle from scratch. All of it is basically a remix of the same concept over and over again. There are 4 "worlds" which means the scenery changes…

The Witness is in the same boat, and I enjoyed that as well. What this game so desperately needs is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ RUN BUTTON. The walking is UNBEARABLE. Whenever I have get stuck and finally strike that "A-Ha!" moment, I want to RUN to fix it because I am EXCITED that I figured it out! Instead, I jump small heights in fruitless attempts to bunnyhop. This is typically the sort of game I love, a story without the need of much words, relaxing music, beautiful athmosphere and good puzzles. This game is longer than it seems in the first place but it doesn't feel stressful, it only nudges your brain to find a clever way to master each challenge. Fun puzzles and interesting visuals. Not much story, but what there is is interesting. My biggest complaint is that the game doesn't tell you when you will advance to the next section and not let you come back to complete optional puzzles. So, if you want to complete everything, make sure to do it before moving on or you will not be able to do it later.

A good and long puzzle game with puzzles that make you think. There are 60 levels in total with most of them containing two puzzles. One puzzle allows you to proceed to the next level and the second is optional. You can come back to the optional puzzles after you beat the game. New game mechanics are introduced around the 20th and 40th levels. The combination of mechanics can sometimes make things quite tricky, but at the same time you get better at solving everything with practice.

As mentioned by others, this game is almost purely puzzles. There's no exploration at all. There's also barely any story, aside from some statues shown once every few puzzles. There's no narration, no books filled with philosophical meanderings, and no characters aside from the aforementioned statues. So what is there?…

I'm grudgingly giving this a thumbs up. The puzzle design is unique and absolutely brilliant. So why grudgingly? The rest of the experience frequently ruined it for me. The blindfolded statues clearly indicate there's supposed to be a story, but it's not remotely clear what it's supposed to be. Then there's the random enigmatic sayings that would make a fortune cookie jealous (or, frequently, confused). These started out as a bit odd, but quickly became annoying. I did like the ending though.…

Does what good puzzle games should do - leaves you to find for yourself how the mechanics work without a too-heavy helping hand. If you liked games like Portal, The Talos Principle, but wanted something more relaxing and a bit simpler, you might enjoy this title. It's a simple game of teleportation-based puzzles, set in the usual sky island environment. The scenery is what you'd hope for from the Unreal engine, pleasing and not too distracting. It's definitely worth having if you want to put yourself in a relaxed mood, without going to sleep in the process.

Sojourn is similar to Portal and Talos Principle. It doesn't quite live up to those titles but it's still a good game. I won't comment on the story as it's pretty cliche. It starts out easy and boring but eventually picks up in difficulty after a couple of hours. This will make it hard to judge if you should refund since the first couple of hours are less enjoyable. It's definitely worth a buy if you enjoy puzzle games and don't focus too much on the story.

This is a definition of a borderline recommendation. I will talk about the puzzles, but let’s start with the narrative. It is not true this game has none. There' no less narrative here than in, say, The Witness, Antichamber, or Manifold Garden (all of which are phenomenal, imho). There’s more, in fact. You follow the path of the game’s protagonist through a set of stone-like sculpture compositions. Plus, you can collect, I’d guess, about 30 “merits” by solving optional puzzles, that provide…

Interesting puzzles, a decent addition to the 'first person puzzler' genre, but something about it just makes me bored playing after only 20-30 minutes, so I have to play it in smaller chunks. Maybe it's the slow movement speed and the inability to sprint (which is required for the puzzles to work), or the sterile environment with story notes so vague they might as well not be there. Aside from that The Sojourn is great: the visuals and music are really nice and do a good job of setting the tone of the game. The walking speed feels slow at first but I do think it helps force you to soak in the experience which is the standout element of this game, and the set pace does help in some puzzles by letting you know that…

It's a challenging puzzle game with interesting mechanics. The story behind it was not that compelling to me, but i liked the aesthetics a lot.

I loved the initial concept but the lack of a FOV slider took me right out of the experience.

This is a challenging first person puzzle game. The puzzles are unique and deserve a 10/10! This involves many portal techniques. If you like first person puzzle games, this is the one! The only bizarre part is the artwork and statues tell some silent story that's pointless, but it sort of grew on me.

Also got the new RoboCop game, so I'll be cyberpunking hard in the near future. Just, need time sinks. Also started to listen to The Sojourn, so, that'll help.
