unlabelledView post →you might enjoy the movie The Sisters Brothers, where all the horses love John C Reilly and you begin to think Joaquin Phoenix has been forced into a movie where he has to interact with them as a mean-spirited prank. 😂

unlabelledView post →About Emilia Perez, (1/2); I've never seen Latin America, it's culture, language and people misrepresented so poorly in a film, ever. In Rust and Bone and The Sisters Brothers Audiard presents plausible, complex characters. In Emilia Perez every character felt unidimensional, cliched and cartoonish.

Let me tell you about another questionable Western, The Sisters Brothers: IDK how I, or anyone, missed this movie but it is incredible. Free on YT.

unlabelledView post →[Psi’s Unhelpful Movie Reviews] The Sisters Brothers John C. Reilly and Joaquin Phoenix make for a stellar pairing? And with a charming Riz Ahmed and Jake Gyllenhall? A mix of heavy and light. Hit the spot perfectly for a semi non-standard western~
unlabelledView post →The Sisters Brothers is another film that doesn’t die justice to the book.
unlabelledView post →Wasn’t sure what to expect watching #TheSistersBrothers #movie last night. Given the strange title and #JohnCRiley in the cast I was half expecting an oddball comedy, but instead got a thoughtful #cinematic #drama about love and loss in the 1850’s.

unlabelledView post →I just have watched the Sisters Brothers film and it was so bad but too cool at the same time! 😭 I'm feeling almost physical pain after watching, I'm crying 😭 this is one of the best westerns ever
unlabelledView post →A Ghost Story is literal, but mostly not that. A lot of nuevo westerns veer close to it, in a sort of "continue in the doomed world you've created?" way, white people creating these demented societies - High Plains Drifter, Unforgiven, Meek's Cutoff, The Sisters Brothers (I love this movie).
unlabelledView post →I sort of enjoyed The Covenant but IMO The Sisters Brothers was the last truly excellent movie he was in. And the last great movie he was the lead in was probably Nightcrawler.

unlabelledView post →The entire intro is baffling. The film reminds me a lot of The Sisters Brothers in being well acted, costumed, shot, but continually being let down by the writing which remains aggressively, mediocrely "good," sidestepping being great by just a few inches every time it swerves a bit
unlabelledView post →Movie 10 of 60 watched for the year The Sisters Brothers a very okay to good Western, I dont know if this is an issue with the book its based on but it just kind of stops but dosent really resolve if that makes sense which leaves an odd taste
unlabelledView post →The Sisters Brothers was a decent Western to the point I'd like to see him making another movie set in the US. .....though I have only seen the first 10 minutes of Dheepan, I know a Tamil person who likes that movie. He should have handled Emilia Perez the same way he did with Dheepan.
unlabelledView post →This is a worry since the only Audiard film I've seen is The Sisters Brothers and I was baffled by that one to put it mildly.
unlabelledView post →Watch the movie The Sisters Brothers Netflix I'm defiantly James C. Reilly so that makes you Joaquin Sorry about your arm bro...
unlabelledView post →I found reading 'Power of the Dog' before the film was worthwhile because there were small details I spotted which I wouldn't otherwise, but 'The Sisters Brothers' film was disappointing compared to the book, so there are pros and cons to both ways.
unlabelledView post →I really like him, although I can’t think what my favourite film of his might be. Maybe The Sisters Brothers, although he’s just one of four leads with a bunch of other blokes I like. He’s totally the star of Nightcrawler, and he’s really off the leash.

unlabelledView post →There’s a novel called The Sisters Brothers that seems like it was written in imitation of or homage to Portis. There’s a movie version that I think is better than the novel.
unlabelledView post →Current reading is Patrick DeWitt’s *The Sisters Brothers*, which I’m enjoying hugely. Yesterday I thought “I’m surprised this hasn’t been adapted into a film”, and then in a bookshop today I spotted a tie-in edition for the film adaptation, which was clearly a massive marketing success.

unlabelledView post →Man, how did The Sisters Brothers lose $20 million? That movie is great. Right down to an unrecognizable Carol Kane at the end. It was John C. Reilly's production company too. Wouldn't expect many more major productions outta him after that. That sucks.

unlabelledView post →It might be that the clever title and the fact that this is backed by an whole host of European film funds is all that makes this rather sterile Western memorable. It's all about the enigmatic "Commodore" (Rutger Hauer) employing the eponymous brothers - "Eli" (John C. Reilly) and "Charlie" (Joaquin Phoenix) to track down the mild-mannered prospector "Kermit Warm" (a rather mis-cast Riz Ahmed) whom he accuses of theft. This isn't the first time he has engaged them, and both are suspicious of…

unlabelledView post →I was looking forward to this. It has two of my favorite actors in it. Unfortunately, I had to give up on watching it. It's impossible to see what's going on. There are some shadows moving about, sometimes covering each other. A dot lights up occasionally on my 55-inch OLED. I can see subtitles, hear the sound. This is apparently one of those "someone invented HDR, that means we should put a cloth over the lens" kind of movies. Such a shame.
