The final episode of this series possesses a grandiose aura, offering a last enthralling mystery, followed by a lovely emotional wrap-up, however admittedly it didn't meet all my expectations in the end. As a whole, the tone of this episode felt quite different, maybe partially due to the artstyle change, but the entire presentation has a peculiar vibe, feeling very grand and ethereal on one hand, but also more tame and almost censored - which by itself isn't necessarily negative but unusual…

It's been a long-awaited title, and I'm thrilled to have helped close the book on this saga of obsessions! x.com/shiravune/st...

A shame that Shiravune now own the rights to publish KnS in english, I miss MangaGamer and their good translations for the two previous games. This translation as awful as it can be - every minute there is a dialogue with completely different meaning while compared to original text and replacement for OG is usually some millenial style joke from Borderlands or Forspoken. Example: OG: Reiji: Ah, ♥♥♥♥ (cursing). Yaginuma: Whats wrong? Shiravune "translation": Reiji: ♥♥♥♥ me in the ass. Yaginuma:…

The translation does take its liberties, but is fine in most parts, though it can be a little too transformative for some (there are moments where the phrase(s) are completely altered to accommodate a joke that isn't in the original text). The game starts very strong, following some unresolved threads left by the second entry, but much like its main themes, The Shell: Paradiso feels forever lost in the shadows of the first title, trying to mimic its greatness. Unfortunately, the characters…

Well... Kara no Shoujo 3: The Last Episode. I came in fully prepared; it would've never met my expectations as the last title of the series, and I was going to accept it. I felt ready to simply admire good art, enjoy a powerful ride through memory lane with Reiji, and call it a day. A great start, somber middle, and bittersweet ending, just like always. Just like those two eerie, evocative, sarcastic, bitter, ero, gritty, wonderfully disturbed experiences I came to know and cherish. And yet...…

Finally, the conclusion to an absolutely fantastic murder mystery! As with the previous two games, I highly recommend downloading the "optional" patch from Johren or Patch Moe, as it will uncensor any of the violent crime scenes and add routes that were cut due to adult content. I won't go into details about said content, but it will take a game that has "5+ hours of content" to approximately 50 - 60 hours if it's anything like The Shell II. My only complaint so far is that the demo wasn't…

First off, the hate on the translation is undeserved, and straight up some JP supremacist garbage. I like the personality both the Chinese and English translation imbued into the prose. Translation is an art in and of itself, and if you think otherwise just go play your google translated drivel in your little corner. But this game was really bad. It has gorgeous artwork, cinematic presentation and often immaculate vibes but it's still written like a 1980s text adventure game that would…

Enjoying this so far but some of the localized dialogue is terrible edit at 8 hours: it's honestly worse than I thought. At one point a character was described as "all decked out" in a jacket rather than just saying they're "wearing a jacket". There is stuff like this every couple of minutes. Go to hell whoever did this. Still liking the game though. edit: Just finished. I think it was pretty good. I have noticed that the bad localization was mostly on a per-character basis and the characters…

Even as someone who hadn’t been waiting for nearly a decade—having only just caught up to Kara no Shoujo 2 a month before THE SHELL Part III Paradiso came out in English—I was still hyped for the thrilling conclusion. 100% in 23 hours but I needed 4 runs instead of 3 since I'm dumb and didn't use a guide and missed some stuff. This isn't as good as 1/2 but I can say after the true ending I was emotionally destroyed and that made it well worth a read. The rest of the game just seemed like "how can we make everyone suffer" while filling in the story gaps from 1/2 with new cases. The cases aren't nearly as good, they straight up ruin some characters while writing others out and the story just seems rushed or…

This is a stunning masterpiece, where I would really have to try hard to come up with any ideas how to actually make it better. And maybe I would not come up with anything really. The way how it is, is perfect actually. Perfect for me of course, I can understand that some fans actually managed to create their own "obsession" as much as some of our beloved characters in this piece - about a perfect ending or closure for this series, and then they got a bit frustrated, that the actual result…

I've been seeing some confusion about this point, so to clarify, yes, The Shell Part III: Purgatorio/Kara no Shoujo 3 English release does integrate the content of the Japanese prologue demo into the start of the game, so you don't have to worry about missing any content, it's all properly there.

Kara no Shoujo is a fantasy game, as the game starts with two males discussing going to therapy and actually going through with it. I'm not sure how to feel about it, story is far less dramatic than the prequels and overall just not that interesting, however the art, music and overall feel is great. It does offer a nice closure for most of the characters. They also decided to drop all the 'FUN' parts full of incest and dubious age gaps, the game however makes up for it with relatable scenes…

Overall: I definitely recommend playing this if you have already finished the previous two games, and if you want a conclusion to Reiji's journey, but I don't think you should expect a masterpiece. Putting together the clues and figuring out the whodunnit is interesting, as always. The fact that there are new narrative segments sprinkled throughout the game in both the second and third playthroughs (which are necessary if you want to reach the true ending) adds a great deal to replayability. I'll have to address the controversy first: Shiravune's Westernized translation. And let me say that I don't really care for what they did with the dialogue. People who ♥♥♥♥ on Shiravune just because honorifics were not part of the translation (as if it made any sense to call somebody Tokisaka-san in English instead of Mr. Tokisaka; and as if honorifics weren't cringy enough) sound just like a bunch of crybabies. As with the other two in the trilogy, you need the patch to see everything. The game is a fulfilling conclusion to the series and to an extent, Cartagra, though knowledge of that one isn't needed to appreciate the final chapter. Most, if not all questions are finally answered, a number of characters finally get their happy endings, but most end on bittersweet endings, which is standard fare for the series as a whole, however, the endings are ultimately concluded with a sense of finality…

The pacing is kinda similar to the first part but with much less casual parts. While the main case of this game in particular wasn't as gripping as the ones in Part I and Part II, the overarching narrative surrounding the events of the previous two games more than makes up for that.
