unlabelledView post →Netflix made us wait FIVE YEARS for The Old Guard 2. Thankfully it's really, really good, and Uma Thurman is there, and there's queer longing, and an action sequence with guns AND swords AND boats. Really, what else can you ask for: reactormag.com/movie-review...
unlabelledView post →Today's movie recommendation is "The Old Guard" on Netflix. This is just an amazing movie. I knew nothing about it going in & think that's the best way to experience it. Charlize Theron is fantastic. It's a fresh take on the genre, with action, great characters, and lots of twists & turns. #Movies
unlabelledView post →The Old Guard II is out on Netflix and i'm FINALLY able to talk about it ❤️✨ It's the first movie i worked Aand has been A PLEASURE and AN HONOR to work with a great team! Also: being a couple of centimeters from Uma Thurman and Charlize Theron has been indescribable #theoldguardII

unlabelledView post →They made Charlize Theron look EVEN MORE GAY for The Old Guard 2. If she's not a girlkisser in this movie, I swear to Jod I'll do something crazy like release another sapphic omegaverse novel.
unlabelledView post →i liked the Old Guard movie from 2020 so i watched Old Guard 2 and its terrible. it took them 5 years to make a sequel and it ends abruptly before the movie starts. The last scene is literally them on their way out of their batcave to fight the bad guy and it just ends. anyway dont watch it
unlabelledView post →What a crock of sh*t… I remember when he, Stephanopolis, Begala, Dee Dee Myers were considered the upstart political “young guns” of their age, coming in to shake things up. The Old Guard at the time said the same things about them. Hell, they made a film about them - The War Room! Such hypocrites…
unlabelledView post →Devoid of soul and lacking any memorable characters, THE OLD GUARD 2 is a massive step down from its predecessor. My review via @ebertvoices.bsky.social.
unlabelledView post →I feel that. Mine is The Old Guard, a super violent action movie about a group of immortal, queer warriors who take down a big pharma tech bro bad guy.
unlabelledView post →SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE July 2nd: The Old Guard 2 (film) Andy and her team of immortal warriors return to protect humanity from a formidable new enemy who threatens their existence.
unlabelledView post →I opened the Netflix app just to check if The Old Guard 2 was up in Portugal (it is!), then I opened Instagram and it immediately gave me a clip of a Charlize Theron interview talking about her hair in the movie. Like... JESUS. They could at least be more discreet about the shared info.

unlabelledView post →Just re-watched The Old Guard in preparation for the sequel coming out tomorrow, and can verify, it still slaps. Does anyone remember The ImmortalHusbands Conspiracy, where the internet starts to figure out that the same people are in art from different artists and time periods?
unlabelledView post →Haven't watched The Old Guard in a few years, so I thought it was proper to get a rewatch in before the sequel! Still a fun action flick, and I forgot how much I loved the gay couple in this. A perfect movie for that summery-escapism feel, and who doesn't love Charlize Theron! Excited for # 2.
unlabelledView post →I watched Netflix's super-dull The Old Guard 2 so you don't have to. Namaste! ‘…A sacrifice of great talents on the altar of a bland idea, The Old Guards 2 never finds any groove of its own and with an abstract, nonvisual concept to convey, runs dry pretty fast…’ film-authority.com/2025/07/07/t...
unlabelledView post →FWIW when watching the Netflix movie the Old Guard (the original was great, 2 sucked), this is what struck me. Charlize Theron plays a regenerating immortal who is at least six thousand years old, and you’re using her as a *commando*? “Andi, where did your parents teach you the sun goes at night?”

unlabelledView post →One of the things I found most interesting about The Old Guard, both comics and movie adaptation, was how it was (functionally) a superhero story that had absolutely no concern about the dichotomy in the slightest and just how fucking *refreshing* that felt
unlabelledView post →If you're a member of the Old Guard in any creative field (games, writing, film) and you're embracing AI to recapture your glory days, then get your ass on that ice floe and drift out to sea. You've failed yourself, you've failed your craft, and you've failed the generations to follow.
unlabelledView post →#NowWatching THE OLD GUARD (2020). Director: Gina Prince-Bythewood. Charlize Theron, Matthias Schoenaerts. I'd watch Theron in anything, so I'm not sure why I've left this in my queue for five years. Was thinking about FURY ROAD today, so thought it was time for more badass Charlize. #filmsky 📽
unlabelledView post →The Old Guard (2020) was forgettable but it at least understood the genre enough to know that an ACTION movie should have ACTION in it. The Old Guard 2 (2025) spends 80% of its time watching its characters morosely reminisce about stuff from the first movie that you already forgot.
unlabelledView post →#PretendPanel 7/05 Pretty much only on AO3. Specifically, two stories (both ironically based on individual sequences in larger works). 1. I challenged myself to write a 100 word story once set in the midst of the movie The Old Guard (2020): archiveofourown.org/works/32248825

unlabelledView post →Just rewatched The Old Guard and it’s SUCH a good movie! When I first saw it I was blown away cause it came out of nowhere. Watching it now and it hold up. It’s just so good. Can’t wait for the sequel next year!
unlabelledView post →Joe and Nicky from The Old Guard The movie is pretty good. Some muddled concepts mixed with some genuinely touching moments; intense action beats mixed with a story’s coolest ideas but a terrible case of sequelitis. BUT. The van scene with these two hits so hard. And how they met … ugh the feels …
unlabelledView post →Thinking about it some more Gina Prince-Bythewood’s “The Old Guard” and “The Woman King” both count. Female director + female cinematographer. Both are in the male action film vein. How does she portray “ideal male”? I will note that the romance in Guard was mostly queer, and in King felt tacked on

unlabelledView post →Got through five of these books tonight including both The Old Guard collections and gotta say, the changes they made for the movie were definitely improvements. Usually I’m a “the book version is superior” person but nope, movie is definitely better
unlabelledView post →Because they left me on a goddamn unexpected cliffhanger and I'm not convinced we'll get a third movie now... (Yes I am still bitter about The Old Guard 2. I'm tired of putting time and energy into things and being told "Eh, we're just leaving it there.")
unlabelledView post →‘The Old Guard 2’ is now streaming on Netflix. The film stars Charlize Theron, Ngo Thanh Van, KiKi Layne, Uma Thurman, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Henry Golding, Marwan Kenzari, and Luca Marinelli.

unlabelledView post →I might have felt differently about The Old Guard 2 if they had released it in theaters, but it is a very dull at-home watch. It's just such a lifeless movie.

Based on the 1979 novel by Peter Straub this film features the Old Guard of Fred Astaire, Melvyn Douglas, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., and John Houseman with Craig Wasson supporting but it is Alice Krige that impresses in this supernatural thriller. Recommended.
