Prime Video's The Pickup teams up two SNL vets, Eddie Murphy and Pete Davidson, for an action-comedy heist caper set in an armoured car, but it looks like someone has made off with the laughs. And, for once, Murphy isn't stealing this show. youtu.be/icYD1FJ9Em0

TikTok giant Adam Courtliff did the honors by reviewing this lame heist movie, and from his account, I didn't miss much. 2/5. film-authority.com/2025/09/02/t...

I thought the strangest use of Pete Davidson recently was in the Amazon movie "The Pickup", where they made Eddie Murphy the straight man and Davidson was given the wacky fast-talking character, when it should have been the other way around.

unlabelledView post →The Pickup flips the buddy-cop script, casting Eddie Murphy as the straight man opposite Pete Davidson’s lazy “manchild” routine. Despite passable action, the film suffers from crude humor and a squandered Andrew Dice Clay cameo. It’s forgettably fun. garethmyles.com/the-pickup-2...
unlabelledView post →'The Pickup' ended up being better than I thought it was going to be early on. Still not a good movie, mind you. Obviously the writing et al. lets this one down just as much, but it was more visually that made me care less about it - it's an ugly film, especially 'inside' that damn truck. The world of film didn't feel lived in either, namely on that long highway; I know they mention it'll be a "ghost town" but that's a cop-out. The pairing, meanwhile, of Eddie Murphy and Pete Davidson is…
