unlabelledView post →For emphasis, Kung Fu Hustle *has* to be my favorite movie from 2004. In a year that contained Shaun of the Dead, 2046, Spider-Man 2, Howl's Moving Castle, Layer Cake, Kill Bill Vol. 2, Collateral, and The Machinist, that's no small feat!
unlabelledView post →Strangest movie you’ve ever seen…and kind of liked it, but will NEVER watch again. The Machinist
unlabelledView post →This dog has reached her peak of puppy and I have barely slept in many days. This must be what The Machinist felt like in the movie "The Machinist" starring Christian Bale as The Machinist

unlabelledView post →This "ruining my health for The Method" made it impossible for me to enjoy the Les Mis movie as well: I was so horrified by the bs Anne Hathaway put herself through that I couldn't bear it (see also: The Machinist from long ago - brilliant! unbearable)
unlabelledView post →Out of the Furnace and The Machinist are two fine movies by Christian. Out of the Furnace has Woody Harrelson and Casey Affleck. Not a Christmas day movie but it's just me and my cat so I'm putting it on again. Casey made me cry in one part. If you cry, let me know which part.
unlabelledView post →Maybe she wondered if it's an integral part of Wicked that the characters lose weight later in the story, like in the hit Christian Bale movie The Machinist
unlabelledView post →Also because it's mentioned towards the end of the episode, shoutout to @danielgorman20.bsky.social and his recommendation of IN THE DARK (2000), as well as Mike's addition of THE MACHINIST (2004) if you're searching for films evocative of SILENT HILL. unlabelledView post →Severance is the weirdest thing in television. It’s somehow weirder than the movie the Machinist, and sustains it hour after hour. It’s unfathomable.
unlabelledView post →Went out with a guy who'd called the film the Machinist the mack-in-ist It's been 9 years and yet!
unlabelledView post →The Machinist Mainly because I shortly after watching it worked in my dads workshop thats full of massive saw machines very similar to the ones in the movie.
unlabelledView post →#DendensMovieDen. No. 97. The Machinist. This was a movie I was aware of very early on after its release thanks to Christian Bale’s involvement. I knew him from the impressive Empire of the Sun and American Psycho, but the stories around his weight loss as an early sign of his (1/7)
unlabelledView post →Hmm. Plenty of unreliable narrators but that's not quite it, is it? Some good ex below, I though Grave Encouters as well...what about The Machinist? Though that may be less the camera and more the entire story...Mouth of Madness, where the film bc a Sutter Cain story thru Trent's involvement?
unlabelledView post →Transsiberian is Brad Anderson’s true masterpiece. It’s the only post Hitchcock film I would ever call truly Hitchcockian, and it isn’t just because of the train. All due respect to The Machinist, I truly hope Transsiberian ends up #1
unlabelledView post →The Machinist is a badass movie
unlabelledView post →The first film my wife and I saw together was Magic Roundabout. Followed by Vera Drake, The Machinist, A Very Long Engagement, Pans Labyrinth and the Orphanage.

unlabelledView post →lets keep this discourse going. rank your top 3 nolan films 1. I don't like "films" I like MOVIES 2. I don't know who Nolan is 3. It's a tie between The Machinist and the Batman movie with Bane because I've got a major crush on Tom Hardy
unlabelledView post →Kinda reminds me of The Machinist mixed with that one Vincent Price movie with the "if you scream you die" premise + bugs in your spine.

unlabelledView post →Day Shift was an entertaining movie, was fun watching it. The Machinist is one I keep meaning to see, have to imagine its quite an unsettling movie.
unlabelledView post →What do people think? Is prosthetics "cheating" when it comes to playing a role in a film or tv show? Do you want to see people ape Christian Bale in the Machinist or Vincent D'Onofrio in Full Metal Jacket because digital assists and other methods feel somehow cheap? Or are fat suits ok?
unlabelledView post →I remember this Christian Bale scene but can’t remember which film it’s from. The Machinist?
unlabelledView post →Please, just no more losing weight like in THE MACHINIST. That actually scared me more than any horror movie.
unlabelledView post →Boost! The way to get more theatrical releases of indie film is to go see them in theaters. (Also, The Machinist is fantastic. The 00s were full of hidden gems; that's one of them.)
unlabelledView post →Have you ever seen The Machinist? My first Bale film and it's astounding. No special effects, remember that as you go through this movie.
unlabelledView post →Last night we started watching American Psycho. About 30 seconds into it, I got up, paused it, and went, "nope. Tonight we watch The Machinist (2004 Christian Bale)" They've never seen it before and they were mesmerized by it Solid 4/5 psychological thriller movie. Would recommend for a wild ride!
unlabelledView post →Christian Bale (six feet tall, born 1974) body transformations for movie roles After averaging 180 pounds in 2000, he dropped 60 in four months for The Machinist (2004), gained 70 for Batman Begins (2005), dropped 55 for Rescue Dawn (2006)... www.celebheights.com/s/Christian-...
unlabelledView post →batman begins (2005). The actor also did a movie called the Machinist before it where he became dangerously underweight for the role so his transformation was even more incredible. People called him chubby on set. How out of touch do you have to be with what normal buff bodies look like.
unlabelledView post →You've inherited a movie theater, what's your first double feature? The Machinist (2004) and Jacob's Ladder (1990)
unlabelledView post →No no The Machinist was the remake of an old Charles “Entertainment” Bronson movie starring John Transporter as Agent 47. The movie you’re thinking of is called The Cure and it’s about how emotions is bad so they invented medicine that gives you super depression and made it illegal to not take it.

unlabelledView post →Uh wow! He really lost weight like what Christian Bale did for The Machinist movie?
unlabelledView post →Maybe my fave review of THE MACHINIST included this line: "You can't stop thinking about how awful Bale looks-partly because his transformation is so unnerving, but also because the film doesn't give you anything else to think about."
unlabelledView post →I think they did make that as a Batman prequel called The Machinist. Bruce Wayne's eating disorder is a major part of the film. youtu.be/H0fuHY4U1UA?...
unlabelledView post →I reference the 2004 movie The Machinist a lot considering I've never actually watched it.
unlabelledView post →What's a good horror movie that isn't actually a horror movie? For me, The Machinist. Deeply unsettling vibes.
unlabelledView post →There was a Christian Bale movie called The Machinist about long-term insomnia; not hereditary though.
unlabelledView post →Brad Anderson is a director who fell through the cracks. His finest work, The Machinist, is often described as a "cult film". No. It's a masterpiece. Christian Bale's tortured physical performance is jaw-dropping. This film has so much rewatchability. Every single scene operates on multiple levels.
unlabelledView post →Yeah I saw this movie called The Machinist and Christian Bale talked about his process and you know he loves to shapeshift for his roles he was talking about how once he lost all that weight he wasn’t even tired anymore he was just reading a lot and awake more I

unlabelledView post →The Machinist (2004) The Machinist (2004) Another film by Brad Anderson! This director made the fairly decent Stonehearst Asylum (2014) and The Silent Hour (2024), as well as the excellent The Call (2013). In recent years, he’s made Worldbreaker (2025), which isn’t great. Yeah, he’s got some really good stuff and some really bad stuff, that’s for sure! As for Session 9 (2001), it’s, sadly, just not a good film! It also had all the makings of a boring film, just like The Machinist, but Anderson…
unlabelledView post →The Machinist 6.5/10 - A dark, psychologically interesting film about guilt and identity, with a viscerally physical performance from Christian Bale. #TheMachinist searchingforthe10.substack.com/p/the-machin...
unlabelledView post →Watched Session 9, the preceding movie from the director of The Machinist. Frustratingly close to being good. Great in acts one and two, does not stick the landing at all. Pretty good at handling themes like psychiatric abuse and multiple personalities, but annoyingly blind to other subjects.
unlabelledView post →Brad Anderson’s masterpiece isnt The Machinist (though admittedly great), but Transsiberian. It is the ONLY post-Hitchcock movie that I believe can TRULY be called Hitchcockian.
unlabelledView post →#TheMachinist is a movie with a twist. But it couldn't give you a better feel for what losing touch with reality in #paranoidSchizophrenia can look like if it tried. Good #movie with a phenomenal performance by #ChristianBale. www.imdb.com/title/tt0361...
unlabelledView post →WELP, BUGONIA certainly hoped my "what madness feels like" movie.. The Voices, The Machinist, this def topped them. However.. got mixed feelings about the ending (specifically the last few min.)
unlabelledView post →Watching THE CUT (2024). Orlando Bloom plays a boxer coming out of retiremenrt who has to cut weight before a comeback bout. Bloom lost either 35 or 52lbs for the film. He was 46 or 47 when he made this. That is insane commitment to a role. Bale was 30 when he lost 62lbs for THE MACHINIST.
unlabelledView post →watched 'fractured' (2019) a while back (it was bad) and throughout i was like "oh, they're doing The Machinist, okay" and afterwards i looked up who made it and it's crazy to me that brad anderson just made the same film twice
