Despite being very buggy, it's definitely worth it. the only reason I'm not recommending this is because you should buy "The Guild II Renaissance" instead. it is literally everything this game is and more, plus it is much more updated and thus, less buggy.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great improvement from the Guild 3. Can't wait for the Guild 1 to come out.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its not a bad game for something made in 2007. However if your going to buy Guild II, you should buy Guild II the Renaissance instead. It is the updated version of the game with more features. I didnt know this so I got the Original Guild II. Also there is some path finding bugs in this game and sometimes the characters speak german randomly. They will be speaking plain english and then just switch to German. It isnt that bad because there is subtitles its just very off putting. I'm told the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it took me 20 minutes to understand that this is a masterpiece, too bad no big company will ever make a game beautiful as this again. Damn console ports, filthy lower attention span gamers, and damn houses that feed them with junk like CoD, AC, the new Fallouts, the new TeS, and so on. I can't write a review but I can tell you that this is a masterpiece: get it at any cost!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →buy the guild 2 + renaissance instead it includes this and more for the same price
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wanted to play a nice easy mode game as a leisurely farming dynasty. Started my dynasty with a wonderful lady, who married a man who couldn't even do anything on the farm, and kept it clean. We were simple folk, content to sell sheep and wheat. Then our neighbor, the Guild Master and rival farming dynasty, decided to send thugs after my lady. After rendering her at death's door, her husband, though useless on the farm, would not let matters stand. Before the courts he stood, presenting…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Someone tried to send me in court, i kidnapped him, he had to pay a fee for being absent at the trial and had to pay a ransom to me. great game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →>Finished the tutorial >Started my first game >Excited to be a humble farmer >Just finished building my first farm plot >Two random NPCs started attacking me >Panic >Get knocked down >Get dragged all the way across the map >Realized I was kidnapped and can't do anything until they release me Didn't know I was playing freaking Kenshi
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty fun game, however the Guild 2 Renaisance is the exact same game just with more features and content so just buy that one instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game seemed great in the tutorial, until I hit the main game and nothing worked. I couldn't plant crops, couldn't buy or sell things in the market... It's too bad, but since it was released almost a decade ago I doubt it will ever be patched to work.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Set fire to my rival's house and kidnapped her while she tried to put it out so she couldn't testify against me in court. 10/10 would arson again.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played one full life in the game. I don't recall it being so complicated to play back in the day. Ohh wait, you actually got a printed manual that explained the gameplay :) During my 1st round of the game, I started to pick up on how to do things. The game is very involved, but easier to learn than you would think. This game is a TRUE strategy game. I died a lonely old man since I learned about courting near my mortal end. I'm sure my workers looted and robbed me blind upon the news of my…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do not buy this version of the game. Do not buy the bundle. Buy The Guild 2: Renaissance. It is stand-alone and really all you need.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is much better than reality because in this game I can tell my wife what to do and she'll listen.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →>Hired a spy to track on competitor. >Competitor never left home. >Burned their home. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Guild 2 presents a fairly solid economic strategy simulation where the player can utilize a number of varying tactics and maneuvers to gain an advantage in a well-designed medieval environment. Unfortunately, the impressive level of detail and the interesting gameplay options at your disposal take a backseat to the technical issues and repetitive micromanagement. The final product ends up being decent, but not nearly as good as it could have been. If you're looking for an economic-based…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →based and no leftist politics. Fun game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I first played I was put off by the tutorial. It's overly long, and it's easy to get stuck. Years later, I've finally given it a proper chance, and I'm hooked. 'The Guild 2' is a sandbox game set in 1400s Europe. You begin as an 18-year-old peasant with a few thousand gold. You must decide what to do with your life. Perhaps you will become a thief? Starting as a pickpocket, and eventually hiring people to rob carts. Maybe you'd prefer the life of a farmer? Grow wheat for beer and flour.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is a giant dollhouse with the theme of trade & old european towns-life. Variety of the game content and the realistic feeling is charming at the beginning. There are many options of actions, many details which help the escapism. However, as you progress and discover the core content, it starts to become aimless and repetitive. The UI is not helpful at all, you can find yourself doing the same action again and again without any automation. The reference to dollhouse is due to that it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice and broken, 10/10 would buy and regret again...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Think the age of the game makes it tough to get into. I am sure in its day it was very good. I would only buy on a deep sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is old and has outlived its time. its clearly not meant to be played in the year 2021, yet i decided to give it a shot and play it anyway. i would much rather have wished to get the guilds 3 though. in fact i intend to save up for it and play that game in the future eventually too. but for now i will settle with its cheaper counterpart. on sale you could get both the main game and a single one of its expansions for 4 dollars. Plus the game is wicked cool concept. its like Ck3 had a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have vague memories of this being interesting 15 years ago when I first played it. (Before owning it again on Steam). Trying it again now just feels too old and out dated and I can't get into it. Maybe if you are nostalgia hungry go for it, but then you didn't need me to say anything about it anyway. For new players, I can't be bothered to recommend this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty neat medieval themed sims game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed this game for a very short time... It is extremely buggy, repetitive, and just overall boring. I tried getting a refund for this game, but I couldn't because I gave the game a chance and played it for a bit, therefore no refund... It just wasn't my type of game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's pretty hard to grasp onto this game if you've never played it. The gameplay is like (sad to say) Runescape. But the "quests" are hard to navigate and it's so hard to figure out what the f*ck you're doing. The tutorial didn't help at all, it's so confusing... 2/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this a long time ago but never really gave it any time so it was left rotting in my game library. I decided to give it another shot and I'm glad I did. I don't know why some people call it a bad game. My friend recommends The Guild 1 over 2. It has some bugs but for me it's a great sim. I've been playing as the patrician class mainly and finding the best ways to earn money and explore the game. When I first played I used the rogue class which is probably where I went wrong as you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →LINUX Reviewer: Technically the game launches, though the intro video displays a black screen. Otherwise, there are only minor bugs that do not affect the gameplay.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is janky. Let's get that out of the way. Now that we’ve accepted that The Guild II is also one of the most entertaining, chaotic, and strangely addictive life-sim/strategy hybrids out there. It’s like The Sims got drunk, fell into Crusader Kings II, and decided to run a candle shop while plotting to poison the mayor. What You Actually Do Start as a lowly peasant with a dream (and maybe a fishing pole). Build businesses, from bakeries to blacksmiths to shady taverns. Raise a family,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a kid I get The Guild 2 on DVD disc from gaming magazine. I spent many hours with it and after buying new PC I couldn't play it again because I lost my disc. After some years I found it on Steam and it's still an amazing game. Now I own almost every building in my city and lads from my dynasty hold top three offices owning lots of money. It's good to be back.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a workable game which I find it better than the Renaissance DLC However the entire game series is a mechanical disaster - Germans simply suck at developing games. After your character dies you take control of your other characters in the dynasty and that is simply too frustrating to handle all at once. If you don't focus on business then you lose money. If you focus on business then you won't focus on political advancement, marrying, children, etc. Gonna have to change my review…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Holy hell. I picked this up on Black Friday weekend, and couldn't make it to Monday before uninstalling it. I've played a lot of resource management city builders and this one looked really promising, in spite of being older in the graphics department. And wow. I've never seen a more clunky, difficult to follow game with so few instructions. I was repeatedly googling how to do very simply actions, trying to find out basic game information and even the wiki was vague, the fan base not nearly…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've said I would recommend this game, when in reality what I would recommend is that you get The Guild 2: Renaissance. This game is good, but Renaissance feels like the finished article, this game contains too many issues such as incomplete English dialog etc. Renaissance also contains more features as well as everything this game has, so there is no benefit from getting this game first. My recommendation is for The Guild games generally rather than this one in particular.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The language flips between English and German constantly. There will also be very obvious changes in voice actors between sentences. The game has all the makings for being really solid, but it falls short. Here's hoping The Guild 3 is better. Also, I brought a woman up on charges, one of which was assualt. As luck would have it, the person assulted was the judge. EZPZ I thought. Nope. He votes not guilty and I'm left to pay court costs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Guild 2 is a Real Time Strategy game set in the Medieval Period. Essentially, the game allows the player to use a bunch of maneuvres and tactics to climb the social ladder. If you like games that reward you for playing strategically, than this is for you. It's a deep and intricate game that gives you the freedom to do what you want. However, don't expect it to be easy or lightweight, it requires patience and concentration. The game however has a few bugs which will probably not be patched…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love this game - series is great. I'm a big RPG - Medieval fan. They did a great job - haven't gotten to #3 yet but it checks all the boxes. Have the right requirements, gameplay is a breeze
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Poverty Simulator
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's old and even on easy people still try to burn down my three taverns. Sometimes the VA suddenly becomes german (which I looked forward to) and if you lose sight of the person you are trying to court, you have to wait until they start complaining of being neglected so you can click on their image and maybe find them in a sea of npcs. But it's fun and addicting and while I started playing like a honest citizen, after the sixth time judith conway (that ♥♥♥♥♥) tried to set my house on fire, I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its a good game but it does unfortunately crash quite frequently, but not usually until you've already played it beyond the point of being able to get a refund of course.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have played this game before, I just got it on steam, but I have played this game for a long time! I love the concept of the game tho is a bit too easy to take whatever you want when you are in politics and controling city guards. BUT what the hell happend to this game here on steam??? My settings are set to English, but I get a mix of English and german when the different characters/npcs/people are speaking, I have never tried this before, and generally the voices of all of them gets an…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Buggy and everyone has German Tourettes. All the reviews say Renaissance is a better version of this game, maybe look at that instead.

Unfortunately, the impressive level of detail and the interesting gameplay options at your disposal take a backseat to the technical issues and repetitive micromanagement. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its pretty good Im just waiting for the guild 3. Wait is over and wow... Guess we still have Renaissance
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like the idea of managing your business from scratch, starting a family and take down your competitors though hard work, nefarious ways or simply by politics in a beautiful medieval setting this is the game for you. By the way, you die in this game from a variety of reasons, including of old age. One of your kids will inherit everything you own and will become the main character. You can practically play this game for as long as you wish, pretty neat, eh? The only mode I don't recomend…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dont' bother with this game just get The Guild II: Renaissance it's way better more bussines, maps, abilitys etc. playing this game after that playing The Guild II: Renaissance just feels like eating a gluten free cookie.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I finally came to my last review. THIS GAME! UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHH! THIS GAME SUCKS! The scripting is weird. I hired a Thug and she died right after I hired her. My Bakery was raided and destroyed right after I bought it. The guards are like the best trained guards in the world. The procreation is weird. "Hey let got to my chamber". "Sure thing, sir" Okay, back to the review, this game is so old and they made way to many remakes. The developers of this game are so greedy. They are so…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's been so long since I played this, but its more or less the same deal as the first one. You start out low in wealth and power and must climb your way to success. Life sim, business sim, and RPG all rolled into a unique strategy game.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm currently stuck in isolation with very little to do and this game just absorbs all my free hours. There are so many differant ways to play and you can set yourself all sorts of little challenges to make it interesting. Honestly has saved my week being able to get lost in this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the buggiest most immersive experience out there. Highly reccomended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spend almost all of my 5hrs in load screens... does not play like the tutorial. Very buggy and crashes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Buy it for the nostalgic reasons on a steep sale, play this a bit, play the Pirates version some, play the Renaissance version some more and then wait for Guild 3 to be on a steep sale, try it and hope they finish it well some day... This is very dated material and not up to today expectations of user friendly fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A hidden gem in my collection.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even it's an old game, you can't with the amount of bugs ... Just don't waste your money and for this price you will get a other game to have fun with. Only the concept is cool but it's look like the game haven't been finished. (Still look like a bad alpha game).
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Buggy mess that was never fixed. Lots of generic features and heavy on the micromanagement it's almost as if the more you do, the more you have to keep track of because the AI is absolutely retarded. I almost am afraid of progression because now I have to micromanagement even more stuff. The game is extremely glitchy where guys will be glitched inside your buildings so you can't attack back, you have to give multiple commands to get your people to do something otherwise they quickly forget…
