Basic Information Title: The Final Take Developer: HUSH Interactive Publisher: Forever Entertainment S.A. Genre: Atmospheric horror General Impression The Final Take is a fine horror adventure game and an even bigger achievement when considering that this is the dev team’s debut on Steam. Everything about this game fits the ’80s horror flick style. From the VHS visual effects to the sound department. With plenty of replay value to offset the game’s relative short length, we also have a…

The Final Take Review The Final Take is a horror game that plays off the idea of found footage just like The Blair Witch Project, REC, V/H/S, and other movies. While this "genre" of found footage horror has been done plenty of times in the movie world, there is not a strong candidate for it in the video game world, so could The Final Take be the breakthrough game to give birth to this horror sub-genre for games? Short answer: No. The Final Take suffers from the "Slender Problem" and if you…

Honestly I wasn’t sure what to expect from this atmospheric horror game so with an open mind I went into the story on an empty stomach and some coffee besides me. A regular monday morning?! • Presentation The game has this horror flick style going on. The recording look from those old movies with the moving lines and the recording icon in the corner. It gives a creepy feeling, which is good for a horror game I guess, but it got annoying after a bit. But that might be just me. Another thing…

I understand how this game appeals to certain people, and considering all the positive reviews it has I fully expect this review to be downvoted to hell, but this is nothing more than yet another vapid Slender clone with a "new twist". Sarah, the main character, starts a new job and decides to bring a VCR camcorder along with her to record it all... for some reason. Then proceeds to talk. A lot. About nothing at all. Oh, and monsters chase her as she runs around collecting notes/photos etc.…

Final Take is a cheap Slenderman copy with only 4 chapters that can easily be completed under an hour. The entire gameplay, even the main menu, employs a VHS effect along with a sepia colour scheme that actually make the game look pretty ugly instead of giving it the "realistic '80s feel" as the creators claim. I was referring to Slenderman as throughout the game your main task will be to collect photos and notes as well as audio logs. While the creators say these shed more light on the…

Overview The Final Take is a budget priced atmospheric horror game which sees you playing as two characters over four short chapters. You begin in a hospital (shocking for a horror game), as you have an interview, only to find the place pretty dark and seemingly abandoned. And in good horror fashion, instead of taking off, you decide to explore further to find the doctor who is supposed to give you the interview. To begin, the game is very dark. Not in terms of visuals or humor, but in…

So far I've done chapter 1 and the game is very interesting. The atmosphere is creepy . It reminds me the horror movie "VHS". It's probably a very short game, but I 'm enjoying it so far and it worths its prize. 2. Now I finished the game. I still recommend it , not for the jumpscares (none existent), but just for the challenge of finishing it, because the difficulty of this game is rather high . the atmosphere of the game is just perfect, the feeling of being hunted . This game deserves an…

Bought it. Played it. Beat it. Reviewing it. Not a bad game. It's a pretty short one though, I probably go through it in about less than an hour, even with finding the optional stuff. The look of the game is pretty cool since it's trying to mimic a VHS feel. At some points though it feels like the filter may be a bit much and it definently makes it hard to see anything on the screen at times which can be frustrating, but not overly so. As far as jump scares go, there really aren't too many of…

"What a waste of time" sentence from the game that describes game in its entirety. Slender clone with 4 chapters to complete. Levels set in different locations, but very basic. View in the game is super fuzzy so you can't see much. Use camera to see the ghost (can't see ghost in chapter 4) or floodlight to see better in the dark. In general super short and have nothing to offer. Skip.

Well, well. HUSH Interactive have certainly bounced back from the crushing failure of having their earlier game, "Five Nights at Frederick's" - sorry, I meant to say "The Dolls" - yanked from Steam for blatant copyright infringement. In my review for that game, I expressed my hope that these devs "find at least one original idea in their teeny, tiny minds between now and their next game"...so given that it's a full fortnight or so later, let's see how The Final Take stacks up to expectations,…

Final Take is a pretty mediocre horror game. Besides the VHS effect is quite interesting (althought unconfortable at long term), in the end, it is a boring and too short first person horror adventure. The Final Take plays pretty similar to other single-player horror adventure games like Outlast, Dreadout and even Slenderman to name a few. The story starts with a girl talking about visiting an old abandoned hospital, for whatever (?) reasons idek. There's a list of objectives on the left, although not much direction or guidance on how to complete the objectives. Speaking of objectives, the chapters themselves can all easily be completed within 10 minutes or less. There's little to explore,…

The Final Take, is a inexpensive horror game the get the job done. It's short, it doesn't overstay its welcome and it gives you the fix you seek for a game of its genre. I was a bit annoyed with the voice acting, why the hell does the girl sound so monotone in the situation that she's in? I recommend the game though, especially if you're into anything horror and for its price.

Final Take is a Slender Man rip off game that has an interesting concept, but a pretty bad execution. Story: Final Take puts you in the shoes of two different characters, a man named Adam but you mainly play as a girl named Sarah who wants a job in a mental hospital, but when she arrives there she finds the place abandoned and someone stalking her throughout her exploring the place. The story is nothing impressive, it's rather generic stuff and it's a typical cliche of mental hospitals…

There are plenty of horror games on Steam in which the player is equipped with a cellphone or a flashlight, instead of a weapon. I usually hate this setup and these games usually suck but some of them are commonly promoted by well-known youtubers, so people tend to give them a try (just to find out how awful these are). Surprisingly The Final Take is one of the better ones, despite being quite basic in all aspects, maybe that was the reason why it hasn't been "discovered" by any of the said…

It's a decent game, nothing amazing, it's not really scary. You can get teh game done in 30 minutes so it's a quickie *wink wink* I must warn you though it's extremely hard to see on stage 2 and if you're like me that uses a high DPI settings you're going to want to turn it down so you can have a slower turn speed since there is no in game sensitivity adjustment and the game turn mechanics will feel delayed since there is a permanent v sync option that you can't change.

It took me less than five minutes to discover the true potential of this game. The horrible voice acting and annoying VCR style overlay really made this feel authentic. The poor animation made the enies truly terrifying. And nothing was scarier than the horribly recorded sound effects used. Truly a masterpiece of this age. In all seriousness, I used a coupon and got this for less than a dollar, and I would have rather used that money to purchase Necco Wafers.

Well, this game surprises me! I am never a fan of found footage and note finding survival horror games to begin with, the reason simply because I feel so powerless and useless. However, this game proves to me that it is FUN to be powerless....at times. I know some of the players feel the game is too Slenderman-like aka generic and not scary, and thus give it a bad review. But as a 1st timer in this genre, I disagree. It is scary enough for newcomers like me and also just the perfect length.…

https://youtu.be/GF9LR4Tt6VE Slow plodding pacing, in an environment walked by so many other 'horror' games of late. However the biggest stumbling block is the VHS effect filter. It is overblown and makes playing far too painful for any length of time. Add to that yet another nearly dark envitronment and a flashlight that generates less illumination than a brick. There are far better games on steam for those looking for a chilling experience. If the devs add an option to remove the migraine…

The game breeds a new sub-genre of horror, as it delves into the world of found footage; akin to movies such as The Last Horror Movie and V/H/S. I'm not really sure if The Final Take is an asset flip. Some elements of this game certainly make it seem like the developer put some effort into assembling some kind of original here. On the other hand, a lot of the game assets don't seem like they were created by the developer, but they haven't credited any asset creators for supplying assets, which might be a case of plagiarism. There's no evidence, so we need to give the benefit of the doubt... regardless, asset flip or not, the quality…

Why doesn't she leave when she sees the first monster? Or, hell, when she sees the hospital is outright creepy and abandoned? Why does the male protagonist look at a camera through a camera? Straight up boring game, outside of chapter 1 it is basically Slender: The Eight Pages without the teleporting monster or the random placement of the pages (or in this game, pictures). Visually it's ok, but the filter that goes over your vision through the whole game is uneeded and hinders the gameplay more than it would without the filter. This is another entry into the "collect-things-while-avoiding-a-monster" horror genre. It is done in first-person view via "found footage". The collectibles are written notes, audio recordings, and small photos. They are all easily found out in the open, such as laying on tables and hanging on walls. There are a few minor attempts at jump-scares, but they probably won't frighten anybody over the age of ten, so I don't think it classifies as a true horror game. The game is somewhat…

It's a cheap, short horror experience. Even so, it is better than most similar proposals at the same price. So I settled down to play with some eagerness. And boy did it start promisingly. The game is really short. You can finish it in less than 1 hour. No hard puzzles at all, but can be a little difficult for survival in the second and last chapter. It's close to slender that in some chapters you have to collect "pictures" on the wall. The vocals are horrible though, extremley bad voice acting that makes the game seem like a bad joke. It follows the story of a young girl that arrives at an empty, abandoned hospital for a job interview. There she finds a television set and VCR which then continues the story through a flashback. BUT the movement is not the best, the screen is really annoying, mostly because it should look like you see it through a camera, but that doesn't make any sense. It would be cooler if they really record their experience and you see that a camera is in their hands. First I thought so. But in chapter 2 I've seen that it is not like that. Although I liked the direction and concept of the game, there are SEVERAL issues that should be addressed. Issues that I have: -Voice acting is terrible -Slenderman clone chapters -Story is unclear (This COULD be my own fault) -Chapter 3 was WAY too short -Once you get used to running away from "her" and how she moves the game is no longer scary -No reason for Adam's part in the story (seems like filler)

This game is not scary. Music is creepy, but thatt's pretty much it. Voice acting is terrible and drags way on. And the game has this stupid VHS record quality over the game and makes it VERY difficult to see. And the flash light is just about usless. The monster/ghost girl thing was creepy for a few seconds when it started crawling on the floor but I was just walking past it not letting myself touch it to avoid dying as I went on to the next part.
