Words are often spliced between two lines and the whole thing is just sloppy. I'm guessing the developer is small or even one person so I wish there was a way to leave a mixed review, but I honestly can't recommend this to anyone in the current state. It is an unfinished, unpolished product.

I don't feel it would be too overpowering to allow the player to decide not to attack or move. Unless there is some way that I don't know about? Game has alot of potential for 5 bucks. Please also add controller support for those of us that enjoy couch PC gaming.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"The Dark Cave" is a turn-based tactical RPG. You and your enemies are facing off in 3x3 grids. You have limited moves to defeat them and, after that, each move costs a health point. Why planning ahead matters? Because of the abundance of weapons, skills, potions and relics that make for myriads of exiting and unique runs. Every move can leave you open to an attack or, if you miscount, your attack might not land; add to this the passive abilities of you and your enemies and you might kill or…

I mean yes, it's frustrating to move on to the next stage. But isn't that the whole point of these kind of games? =) Basically you have here a tactical RPG where decision counts. - and also may be your last. I mean you can re-play the stage you lost. But until you something else in your sleeve you didn't use before, there's almost no way to…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The ideas are nice, but implementation is poor

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Dark Cave, developed by Leaves Games and published by 2P Games, is a compact turn-based roguelite that distills strategy, tension, and resource pressure into a deceptively simple grid-based format. At first glance, it looks like a small retro-inspired dungeon crawler with minimal presentation, but once you begin your descent, it becomes clear that the game’s design is built around razor-sharp decision-making. Every battle takes place on two opposing 3×3 grids—one for your hero and one for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While the translation is at times a bit criminal, and the whole thing feels like someone's DYI first attempt at making a video game, and there's obvious bugs, I do, kinda, sorta wish to support whoever's making it hoping that they polish it up a bit. It's nothing special, but it was oddly catchy. I'm usually more strict than this, and if there was a "neutral" button I'd go for that one, but it doesn't feel like soulless shovelware, just an "author lacked resources and possibly experience…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The easiest way to describe this game is to compare it to a different indie game by a different developer that came out four years prior: The Dungeon Beneath. The Dungeon Beneath offers a very similar package to The Dark Cave in that they're both turn-based roguelikes where you proceed in a mostly-linear fashion through each floor of an arbitrary dungeon, a bit like Slay the Spire's map except you're only rarely allowed to make a choice about what location you go to next. Unfortunately,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice little game. Unfinished and unpolished - more like a jam-level than a steam level - but I enjoyed playing it.
