positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not comparable to games like Broken Sword, Thimbleweed Park or Monkey Island in quality or wit. I liked the idea but didn't enjoy the execution.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Wolf Among Us, and I imagine other Telltale games (but that’s the only one I played so far). It felt a lot like Life is Strange in gameplay and storytelling, even though it’s also a lot different. In a similar vein, point and click adventure games like The Whispered World, The Book of Unwritten Tales, or Syberia. The modern ones usually don’t have a failure state (as opposed to the infamous Sierra games), but unlike LiS you may get stuck on a puzzle.

I think it's one of the most solid adventures from the so called "revival era" of the genre. It's nice to look at, puzzles are easy and relaxed and the sense of adventure kinda reminds of The Longest Journey. Plays flawlessly on the Deck.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My boyfriend and I love to play point-and-clicks together, and this one was an absolute blast. A must if you grew up loving the Monkey Island series.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game, like MOST point and click adventure games, starts out charming and good, but quickly turns into me just wanting to get past this stupid thing already. Justify paying whatever I paid for this years ago. At least I beat it. 5/10. Better than a lot of waste of money games I bought over the years, but not much....
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best be ready for a long point-and-click. A second run immediately after a first with everything fresh in mind still took me 8 hours; 20 hours for a first one without walkthrough would not be a lot. I wasn't ready for that and it may have negatively affected my feelings, but I also did at times just not enjoy things tremendously. Game starts great (and has in the mummy an early high point) but takes a bit of a nosedive with the introduction of "Nate" a bit later. Chapter 4 felt like a chore…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Holy cow did I love this game and the sequels. I mean, I think it's spoiled me for all other games. How am going to find another game with phenomenal voice actors, beautiful graphics, and gut busting humor? Not to mention really good puzzles. I can't believe I had never heard of this game before until recently. I wish I could play all three of them again for the first time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My dad used to play this when he had a PC, he was playing it all the time, he used to know good point and clicks like The Legend of Kyrandia, so he must of liked it, i haven't really played it.., but it seemed like a good game and the kind of point of click i will like Also if you can, can you talk to the Developer of "TV Sports Boxing" and get them to put it on Steam, i really wanna play it, either full controller support or Joystick please
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Squeels of joy. What can I say what a gem absolutely fun. Brilliant. Runs perfect on windows 7 x 64 Prof . With 16 gig ram 1660 gtx 6 gig Vram. Sound is perfect. Everything is prefect. There is a manual we can download that tells you to just use the mouse and spacebar. https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/215160/manuals/Manual_EN.pdf?t=1602801890 How anyone can say this game has tons of incompatibilities is beyond me so glad I picked up back in 2019 haha it was hidden in my…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is so wholesome, intelligent and crafty! I regret not giving it a chance earlier. If you love the "Raven" game, this is the only one out there with the same vibe.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simply amazing. Great art, awesome voice acting, on the longer side but never boring. This game really nailed the difficulty level and played smoothly on the Steam Deck. 9/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Book Of Unwritten Tales is a point and click adventure in its original setting released in 2009-2012 It has spawned two more games and although it does not invent anything new, its good and fun to play. ++Story/Gameplay: We have our point and click, collect items and combine puzzles game. Characters are likeable and consistent. If you are familiar with the genre you can finish it without looking for a walkthrough I believe. I quickly grasped what was expected on most scenes. It has a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you were a fan of Monkey Island then your will enjoy the graphics, puzzles and humour in this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow what a great Point-and-Click Adventure this is. It has the most wonderful hand drawn scenes, which you just don't see these days. The puzzles and dialogue were fun and the adventure is suitably long. Recommended!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was really funny and chill adventure point and click game , loved all the characters , can't beliieve i found this game randomly , so glad I did , i'm definitely gonna play the other 2 games also!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall a positive experience. It was at times witty and charming. Quite a bit though the jokes are a bit forced. The puzzles are pretty easy to solve and in most cases could be considered too easy. Some though are a bit obtuse. This game will not blow your mind, but if you are craving a fun little irreverent point and click adventure, you could definetely do worse. I've seen that there is a sequel although it hasn't been translated into English from what I understand. The game did not…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Book of Unwritten Tales is a witty, well-written and stunning point-and-click adventure. Each of the three main characters has their own unique charm and specific tasks to complete. The humour, the fourth wall breaking and overall plot line was extremely well-thought-out. It reminded me of games from my childhood, which in itself was an awesome experience, besides being a franchise completely new to me.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So.. Here's the story. I think. You follow a hobbit called Willow who wants to become a mage instead of an engineer. Suddenly he's sent on a quest to deliver a magical ring to an powerful wizard while dodging the evil forces. There's an elf with an attitude and a self claimed treasure hunter. Something like that? Sigh.. Well I did play a solid point&click game anyways. The puzzles were quite simple and straightforward. Sometimes you had to think outside the box but at least there were no…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR: An unfinished and buggy game you might love anyway. General Thoughts/Overview: The book of unfinished, sorry, unwritten tales (BUWT) is on shaky ground to begin with. It is specifically targeted at people like me. That is to say, unashamed nerds who enjoy point and click adventures. Which is probably not as niche a market as one would expect, given the crossover, but still. Absolutely ram packed with referential humour, the game will make little-to-no sense if you don’t have a broad…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun Point and Click Adventure with comedic elements The Book of Unwritten Tales is an adventure game that employs the point and click adventure style in a 3d animated world of fantasy creatures. The story centers around 3 adventurers - an elf princess, a gnome and a human pirate with his pet critter. The story does have some funny moments and references to popular tropes like RPG games and some movies. One of the funny moments may include about the gnome talking about the chair or the gnome…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice-looking, newbie-friendly, comic, fantasy-styled point-and-click adventure.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →engaging, funny, and reasonably easy to play... time well wasted spent
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun game and quite funny in parts, lots of references to popular culture throughout including classic games. Nice touch having a strong female protagonist, and like the spilt between two characters. Not too difficult to solve puzzles if you look around a lot, but not so easy as its a walk in the park. Defo worth a buy on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Disclaimer - I already played this game outside Steam years back when I got it DRM-free, hence low hour count. It should take around 12-15 hours to finish. One of the funniest, very well written and most engaging Point & Click Adventure games I had pleasure playing. Characters are very memorable, jokes and references are being thrown left and right (literally dozen references to Pratchett's Discworld and Tolkien's Lord of the Rings). Having something work 1 in a million chance was one of my…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sure, some parts are clever and interesting, but there are also some really strange puzzles and pixel hunting you need to manage. All in all, there are better games of this genre.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →🌟 A Must-Play for Point-and-Click Adventure Fans! 🌟 If you love classic point-and-click adventures, The Book of Unwritten Tales is an absolute gem! KING Art has crafted a beautifully detailed world filled with humor, charm, and engaging puzzles. 🧙♂️ Story & Characters: The game pays homage to fantasy and RPG tropes while keeping things fresh with witty dialogue and lovable characters. Wilbur, Ivo, Nate, and Critter each bring their own unique personality, making the journey a joy from…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good, traditional point and click with great graphics and voice acting.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very fun and funny fantasy-set point-and-click. If you enjoy point and clicks, humor, and fantastical (yet goofy) tales, you'll enjoy this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it is an absolutely great game! if you love point&click adventures: this is your stuff! the only annoying thing, especially if you wanna replay it: you can't skip all those annoying animations! they're necessary and fun at the beginning, but if you gotta repeat a few tasks to get something right and/or you replay it, therefor already more or less know crudely the main game....it becomes extremely frustrating and annoying to be forced to watch the same seemingly unnecessary and and annoying…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →[The Book of Unwritten Tales](https://store.steampowered.com/app/215160/The_Book_of_Unwritten_Tales/) comes to mind. It's nowhere near as grandiose as any of your described games, but I fondly remember it being a very charming and wholesome experience. If that's the feeling you seek, you might enjoy it.
unlabelledView post →Very funny and logical point and click game. 8/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Book of Unwritten Tales references gimmicks of the point and click genre and uses them to tell a new and interesting story. Even changing between characters (Wilbur, Nate, Ivo, and Critter), I found that I never tired of the new and different POVs or the overall goal of the story of completing Mortimer's mission to obtain and protect a secret artifact to aid in the war. The story is both clever and funny, and the gameplay and progression is intuitive often naturally encouraging you to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very fun game with lots of adventure puzzles and riddles.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this thinking it looked cute and would be fun to play on stream. I absolutely LOVED this game, the characters and the world. I quickly bought the critter chronicles and the second game as well. Such a cute and fun game to enjoy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very old school but fun point and click game. The game offers character switching in order to solve some easy - medium level puzzles. Good voice acting, and storyline.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun adventure game with a great sense of humor. If you enjoy classic point-and-click adventures with clever puzzles and charming writing, this delivers. It doesn't take itself too seriously and that's what makes it great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is basically Monkey Island meets Lord of the Rings. It's a classic point and click adventure game in a fantasy setting, with a ton of tongue-in-cheek and troperiffic humor. It's quite long (although not 25 hours long like my total playtime might suggest), but a lot of fun, with snappy dialogue and likeable characters.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Book of Unwritten Tales is a lovable mess that could have been more There’s a certain charm to The Book of Unwritten Tales that’s hard to dismiss. It wears its point-and-click heritage on its sleeve, and you can tell the developers poured their hearts into it – but as the old saying I am making up now goes, love alone is never enough. Let’s start with what works. The art direction is genuinely lovely – whimsical, colorful environments that feel ripped from a storybook. The voice acting…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quirky, clever, and ridiculously funny. loved every click!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The puzzles aren't very challenging, the story isn't very interesting, and the art design isn't very appealing. I didn't particularly enjoy this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really nice game with good story, voice acting and graphics. Puzzles are really easy so is ideal for beginners.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing characters with equally amazing (top notch) voice actors. The story is compelling and immersive. A++ point and click adventure. Very funny, great graphics and well worth every penny. Highly recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very engaging adventure game, rich storyline, good voice acting and, importantly, very captivating atmosphere. The riddles are reasonably challenging and well-constructed.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Had high-hopes but this went into my book of un-played games.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The graphical style might be off-putting at first but this is a true adventure game. There are a few places where the waiting for animation can be annoying and a few other places where the humor falls flat but overall it leaves a good taste in your mouth afterwards. Almost none of the puzzles are nonsensical. I recommend to anyone who likes point-and-clicks. My favorite was the section with the group of undead.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A wonderful, funny, and immersive game! The Book of Unwritten Tales has clever puzzles, a charming story, and a fantasy world that’s easy to get lost in. It’s a must for adventure fans.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →3/5 for me, had some good moments, had some not-good moments. Gameplay-wise, it was pretty good. Nothing was laggy or buggy on my end, and I'm not always the best at puzzle games so I had a walkthrough open to reference as needed, but most things were pretty straightforward. I LOVED the spacebar being a key to show all the interactable things around you, it really helped me realize when I was finished in a room since I only had so many interactable things visible. I wish more puzzle games had…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As I write this review, I'm listening to [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IPT60hvGw4]“Night Terrors” by Dream Theater. This new single is the first song with drummer Mike Portnoy since their 2009 album, "Black Clouds and Sliver Linings." It also happens that The Book of Unwritten Tales was released three months earlier, in April of 2009. Thinking about the late 2000's takes me back to a very different time. It was a time that I've considered the "Dark Ages" for adventure gaming -…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice point'n'click is your like LOTR and similar. Good things also there's no redundant or repeated guessing with impossible combinations and the solutions are much obvious. Good game. Playing now TBOUT2 for some minutes and it's exactly what you would expect from a point'n'click like this on modern graphics and gamepad support.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gameplay is uneven. There are a few puzzles that do a good job of hinting at what your overall objective might be and letting you figure out how to get there... but there are more puzzles where you just have to click a bunch of random things and hope something does something. Logical connections are not a given, and controls can be clunky, including areas where it's easier to accidentally pass into a different area than to interact with an item or NPC you intended to. I got stuck a few times,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic. That's the word I'd use to describe this game. While I admitt a lot of the puzzels *aren't* super high quality it more makes up for it with it's phenomenoal art dirrection and good story (which is really well written) on top of a really good soundtrack.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game somehow ended up in my Steam library. As soon as I found out it was a point and click game I knew it wasn't my cup of tea. Anyway I'll give it positive rating, it looks decent enough for those who like this genre, I suppose. Voice acting and music is pretty good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game with loads of personality! Charming characters with loads of clever references.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great story game with minor puzzles. Hooked on the entire chronicles from this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An impressively entertaining, witty, good game for one that, at first glance, looked like it was manufactured in a cereal box factory.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful point and click adventure game, with elements of humour. Anybody who's played the Monkey Island and Indiana Jones point and click games from the 90s will recognise the influence those titles had on the creators of Unwritten Tales. Almost like a glowing tribute.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun game for those who love the classic point-and-clicks. I enjoyed all the references to past games and known fantasy worlds. But also, there is enough new story, and fun plot devices, to keep you interested. Pretty funny too. I am off to play the next one :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a dam good game. 8.9 out 10 on Graphics/Animation. I would say this a game for someone 16+. NOT FOR KIDS . It is worth it at full price!!! Decent humor. It had me chuckling more the a few times and more then 1 out loud Ha-ha, Nothing that broke my funny bone though. The female is sexy, But they don't sexualize her.
