negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Here's my opinion on Tetris Effect: Connected: It should have an Overwhelmingly Positive Steam score and it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ travesty it doesn't. This game is more spiritual experience than it is game. It's my safe space, my self-care after a hard day. It's one of the purest audio-visual experiences in the gaming space. And you're depriving youself of one of the best and most unique dopamine inducers by deciding not to play it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an absolutely beautiful game, and a really good fixed tuning experience for seasoned stacker veterans. The visuals are spectacular and the soundtrack is wonderful, with a lot of fun gamemodes to choose from. HOWEVER. I simply CANNOT recommend this game due to how horrid the netplay is. Finish a 25 minute match (YES, A SINGLE ZONE BATTLE SET LASTS THIS LONG.) and manage to just barely scrape out a victory? TOO BAD, Your opponent can just disconnect and deny you any SR gain because the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sometime in September, an update was pushed out that causes the game's framerate to tank on the Steam Deck and a lot of AMD graphics chips. If you turn the game to minimum settings, it's still barely functional. Since then, the devs have refused to admit there's a problem and don't seem to plan on fixing it or even adding a rollback version for Deck players. I'll update this review if it's ever addressed. In the meantime, please stay away unless you intend to play on a desktop with…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tetris Effect is everything and anything Tetris can be, be it a fun puzzle game, a relaxing meditation exercise, a lesson in proper resource allocation, a commentary on the fallacies of induced demand, a audio-visual feast for the senses, an excuse to type up a specifically pretentious-sounding Steam review at 1:24 in the morning when I can't sleep due to the restlessness caused by my ongoing fight with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, an accessible means for experiencing chromesthesia, a-
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am lucky to not have strong light sensitivity so I can play this. It is a very beautiful and challenging Tetris game otherwise.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my favorite games ever. I use Tetris as a way to think. The music in the game is what made me get this version in particular. I wish I could play it more than I have. Unfortunately, I have developed some issues with strobing and flashing lights in the last year or two, which are used obsessively in the game and it's not something that can be turned off. If there was an accessibility feature that turned off the backgrounds or maybe have them as static images with less flashing lights I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I double dipped for this game but of course I had to get this masterpiece on another platform. I experienced my own version of Game Transfer Phenomena when I started playing Tetris religiously. The concept of that being the name and the idea behind this game is genius. For me, Tetris Effect has been my go-to game when I feel stressed or down. Something about controlling and watching the pieces while they fall provides enough of the happy chemicals to get through another day. It's not a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm reviewing this from the perspective of a VR only player. I've never played the game outside of VR. I love Tetris. I love VR. Yet for some reason I thought the idea of Tetris in VR sounded... unnecessary. I was very wrong. The journey mode is incredibly beautiful and something that is best experienced in VR. The visuals and music are moving and add way more to the immersion than I would have thought possible. Outside of journey, the multiplayer is great and I've never had trouble…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game has been broken on steamdeck since the september 2025 update with the only supposed help from the developers being "Turn the settings down!" Game worked fine before the september 2025 patch without turning settings down. ♥♥♥♥ turning settings down. Fix the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →most atmospheric beautiful game of tetris ever created. worth the money if youre insane about tetris like me. we're all connected. i suggest watching the commercial and also jacob geller's video essay on tetris effect and other games with immaculate vibes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Easily my favorite way to play Tetris, but it is NOT worth $40. If you looove Tetris, buy it on sale, otherwise, search 'Tetris' on google. And play it through your browser I'm sure you can set up Steam's desktop controller support to play Tetris on chrome with a controller, but there's not denying that Tetris Effect is hella cool.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a recommendation with a very strong qualifier. Why I recommend: AMAZING visual and musical experience, it is literally the way to play tetris in 2026. Tetris is timeless, perhaps the best game ever made; tetris effect makes tetris even more timeless. Beautiful to play. I love this game for what it is. Now, the strong qualifier: be prepared to be very frustrated with play on steam deck. The dpad on steam deck makes this game incredibly difficult for anyone who has played tetris on…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Getting high and playing this felt like I was meeting God because I had forgotten to do his taxes and he called me into his office to fix things. 10/10, but minus two or three for the price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic game with great vibes. The music and effects are great and it looks amazing in VR.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The perfect pick up and play game. Sometimes I find myself playing for a couple hours, other times I’ll play for about 10 minutes and I always come away feeling satisfied. I’ve never been great at Tetris, but I find myself getting better each time, slowly being able to climb the speed setting, whereas in the past I’d have no luck and crumble under the pressure and speed. Before Tetris Effect I was never a “huge” fan. I absolutely respected it, the genre, and its legacy as the seminal puzzle…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →“Graphics don’t matter, even though almost every game has graphics.” This game: “Hold my beer.” I have never played anything remotely close to this game, and I've played a lot of Tetris over the years. Sure, it's almost laughably overpriced at face value, but get it at 50% off (aka what should be the base price) or less and you won’t regret it. I never thought that friggin’ Tetris could be such an audiovisual feast and present a "story" depending on your interpretation. The soundtrack slaps my…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful and challenging. As a classic game, they really did a wonderful job renewing it. I can't even drift away for one sec in the journey mode, it gets so fast so quickT_T I think I have PTSD from that ding sound now. Tho you can enjoy the view in the theater once you beat the whole journey And there're multiplayer and effect modes with many new challenges inside. Personally, I'm bad at most of them(especially multiplayerT_T), but I do really like the 'Mystry' level in effect modes. It…

unlabelledView post →I own this game for Xbox, oculus and now steam deck. Played a couple of hours and abandoned it for several months. Now coming back a few updates later I‘m shocked it’s barely playable on my OLED steam deck anymore. Stutters and slow downs, even on low settings. What the hell has happened? Really sad about this devolution. So long story short: one of the best Tetris games ever created. But if you wanna pick it up for your steam deck, avoid it for the moment till the Devs have finally come up…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Incredible interpretation of tetris but one huge issue...it stutters on steamdeck on certain stages. How incompetent of a dev do you have to be to not be able to optimise tetris.. something that worked on my original game boy.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed Journey mode okay, although it was frustrating that the speed would increase or decrease dramatically at random, unchoreographed times. The different game modes are kind of interesting, but mostly I just want to play regular Tetris with the pretty visuals and the procedural music. I can't find that here. Some of the different stages can be kind of overwhelming, too. It hurts my eyes and makes it difficult to tell what's going on. I like some of the stages, but probably only half.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tetris is the perfect game, and Tetris Effect is the perfect version of that game. Tremendous music, great visuals and gameplay that makes you want to play just a few more minutes every time. A perfect game for the Steam Deck.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this for the multiplayer alone. I played 6 or 7 matches; unfortunately the matching system was out of whack I was getting matched with people way beyond my rank & on top of that I also had a hacker in one of them. Visually I wasn't a fan of all the lighting & effort they made into the aesthetics, it's almost as if that was more important than the actual gameplay. It can make you lose focus a bit when flashing which is irritating because Tetris is a game of precision & I think most…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is good in all shape and form. It's nostalgia for me. But one bad thing about this game is the ranked match with the time stopping effect. The matchmaking does not know the high's from low's. An example is: player 1 is at 3500. player 2 is at 4500. It's a big difference. Why can the matchmaking not being made tighter? That should level the plain field for players.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game makes me feel like i deserve to exist
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tetris Effect is a beautiful, dazzling, ethereal euphoric experience. That sounds hyperbolic, but it literally feels like you're at a concert/rave, a true out of body experience. The music production by Hydelic & Takako Ishida is out of this world. I love all the different effect modes available to play, depending on what mood I'm in. If I need a challenge it's there, if I just want to zone out, there's also modes for that. The weekend ritual events keep me coming back. It's fun working…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →" Can't even describe this game to anyone. Have to play to experience it for yourself. " Screenshots do not this justice. Video doesn't. The experience of playing it is an inextricable part of the experience. If you have EVER found yourself lost in a game of tetris and lost track of time, this is for you. I promise you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →👍 Recommended? Yes. This game somehow turned stacking blocks into a spiritual experience. It's Tetris. You already know Tetris. Or at least... you think you do. Then this game hits you with stunning visuals, incredible music, and enough particle effects to convince you you've accidentally achieved enlightenment. Every level feels like you're playing inside a music video. The soundtrack isn't background music. It's your heartbeat. You stop thinking about scores. You stop thinking…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Possibly the best singleplayer Tetris game to this date, solely distinguished by its visuals and experience. Not the best multiplayer one, despite having cross-platform, but still worth a shot.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is proof of why graphics matter. While the gameplay outside of zone is almost identical to every other modern tetris (even the free tetr.io), it's a completely new and different experience 100% worth checking out
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don’t need fancy effects. Bad decision to buy
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Easily one of the best modern re-interpretations on a 40 or so year old theme, though the price may be a bit steep for some, paying 40 dollars for a puzzle game. Still, if you're interested, you should probably take a look, even if it's watching someone else play. If you're even marginally familiar with the game Tetris, then you're already at home here, though it's definitely quite a bit more enjoyable in a lot of respects than the original versions were. There are definitely some twists to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tetrishead Ozzy here! As someone who has spent countless hours with many Tetris titles, I wanted to share my thoughts on what I believe is one of the most distinctive entries in the series. Pros: Tetris Effect: Connected is an outstanding achievement in both gameplay and presentation. Nearly every aspect of its core design feels carefully crafted, from the satisfying mechanics to its audiovisual spectacle. Whether playing with a controller or keyboard, the controls feel exceptionally…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The visual and the music is nice but it can get distracting which can throw you off. Sometimes at the higher speeds it's like you have no control over the tetrominoes at all. Not sure if that is a glitch, user error, or part of the game but it got old real fast. If you want to play against other people, the matching system kind of sucks. It will put you up against people in higher tiers. Overall it's an okay. Not my favorite Tetris game. Feels like it might be better on a VR system (I play it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great tribute to the Tetris franchise with awesome music, visuals and game modes. Too bad some of the achievements are WAY too difficult.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not a bad game but definitely not worth the price, especially if you aren't getting it on sale like I did. I'll start with the positives because honestly I would prefer to give this game a neutral review rather than outright bad. First off, the vibes? Immaculate. The music? Spectacular. As a big Tetris enjoyer, these elements were the main thing that drew me to this game, since I just play the online ver. in my free time anyway, I wanted nicer vibes for my Tetris and I got that. However,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a fantastic game. If you like tetris, you will love this one. Yes, you can turn off some of the effects and things that may be distracting for some. It's designed to get you into the zone and keep going. When I do play, it's for a session. Multiplayer is fun too.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tetris is good, this is like Tetris with orgasm. Every block placement felt more responsive and satisfying than ever. 8/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolute masterpiece. Always loved Tetris, but the music, ideas, and overall innovation compiled in this game takes it to a new level.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A visually/musically impressive, accessible way of playing tetris. won't replace tetris DS as the absolute goat, but 2nd place isnt bad.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun but not worth the price. Just Try TETR.IO or Puyo Puyo Tetris. The competitive on here is practically dead, but the campaign is kinda cool. I wish you could adjust the handling of how fast the pieces move, but the default movement isn't that bad.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought this thinking there was 4 player local multiplayer. The ONLY mode that has 4 players is 3 vs 1, which is stupid. Why is there no regular 4 player versus? The multiplayer info is very misleading. I want a refund but I’m over the 2 hour window because I was playing the campaign mode first. Other than this major stupidity, the game is pretty good. Lots of motion in the background. Not sure if it can be turned off, but it might be nauseating for some people. The “campaign” mode is nice.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great family fun, classic Tetris with some new various games. Playing 3 players on same team against the computer is my personal favorite.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Somehow I've not reviewed this yet. Guess I should do that. The campaign is a downright transcendent experience. The way in which the visuals and the music and the haptics come together around you while you're locked into the vaguely hypnotic flow state of a game of Tetris is nothing short of astonishing. It's doubly incredible in VR. It quite literally brought me to tears which I was not expecting. Protip: when selecting a difficulty level, you ideally want to choose something that requires a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This isn't just VR Tetris. In addition to the dreamy, multi-thematic single-player Journey mode, this game also has many different game modes, both single player and multiplayer, to keep you hooked and practicing regardless of your skill level. This is the definitive Tetris experience of the 21st century.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of the first few games that I bought so TEC always have a special place in my heart (shoutout to Doremy cus he was the first player I saw playing TEC and his gameplay is pretty insane :3) - First thing first, graphics are STUNNING, all of the visuals looks great. Aesthetically pleasing, sometimes with a little bit of creepiness to it? But if you like explosion of colours then this game is for you. - Not exaggerating or what not, but I get a little bit teary eyed for many of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a little bit too much for just wanting to play tetris, but i'm not complaining about the graphics either.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a beautiful version of a great classic. Runs great even on dated HW. Remember to enable HDR, even in Linux (it works! just be patient and try...). Better with headphones. The rest? It's Tetris...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best Tetris games ever. As a music lover, the music is absolutely perfect for the atmosphere it's going for, and I still listen to the soundtrack. As a top 200 Tetr.io player, the movement feels a little stiff because of the slow movement speeds, but it's still manageable and doesn't take away from the experience. I can't wait to play this in VR someday.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A gorgeous, relaxing time-killing game. Excellent visual effects and musical accompaniment. I hope they will make the second part, but this one is definitely worth playing. 100% in the collection.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For someone new to Tetris, it doesn't have a gentle enough difficulty curve. Can't progress far.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel like I need a cigarette after each session I'm ngl this ♥♥♥♥ is pure audio/visual sex.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Whatever the programmer did to the matchmaking system has completely ruined this game. I have 131 hours in, my average speed is 50 pieces and I used to peak right around 4900 SR. The game is fundamentally broken Tonight, I was forced to play 5500+ SR speed demon who drops 110+ piece a second (literally twice as fast as Humanly possible for me) F O U R TIMES in ROW. After getting obliterated, I disconnected, reconnected to try and flush the queue and the game handed me a second god-tier…
