21 of 21 · most liked firstCorporate greed. RIP this game. "Free in multiplayer" isn't the point. We were told there would be 3 factions. I paid for a game expecting 3 factions, not 2 factions with the third one turned into paid DLC. I don't care if the Veti are free in multiplayer. That's not what was promised. I want what was originally said: 3 factions included in the game I paid for. Turning the third faction's campaign into a $20 DLC feels like I'm being asked to pay again for something I already expected to be part…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At release, the Veti were pulled from the game because they were "not ready". Now, after over a year of waiting, their campaign is announced as paid for DLC. Excerpt from the "Development Update: Battle Command Uplink Initializing…" posted on the 12th April, 2024 [...] In December, we initiated a comprehensive overhaul of our working processes to ensure we are as efficient as possible with our production schedule and developer time. This was not a trivial effort, but we are happy with the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As other people have already said, this game scratches an itch that the BIG DEVLOPERS HAVE FAILED to since the likes of "Command and Conquer 4" when the AAA devs all decided at once that they would never make any RTS games again. This game feels like "Command And Conquer Generals 2" mixed with some elements from Starcraft, and if you are familiar with those games, you can pretty much play this right out of the box. I straight up skipped the tutorials and immediately knew what I was doing! It…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still feels like a beta. It's getting better with each update and will hopefully become a good game I can recommend as a CnC or Warzone 2100, Halo Wars 2 alternative. From playing skirmish with / against AI Good points - Graphics, feel and system load are surprisingly good for an RTS - CnC vibe, harvesters and research give it a good nostalgic feel - Intel and pop caps try to reduce swarm and spamming (needs work but good idea) - Refinery, garages, merc hire stations on map give it a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tempest Rising is polished, great playing, and technically sound Unreal Engine 5 PC release. Building on the mechanics of genre classics, the game delivers an incredible single player campaign experience that will delight RTS fans. Definitely play this one if you can! My review: youtu.be/kECF2bq2_e0
unlabelledView post →The only issue I have with Tempest Rising is they didn't get some actors Iinfront of a green screen for some cheesy FMV goodness. Great game otherwise, but god if those mission briefings weren't a huge part of the experience

Pathing and AI for them means as soon as a field hits 75% depletion, they go for whatever field is directly in the enemy's path. --…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Imma just be honest, the whole game is just who goes for the resources first. it has nothing to do with "strategy and building an army. And most units just die in seconds, there's 0 reason to use any unit but drone operator and riot car. Those two destroy armies in seconds. So, sadly I wouldn't recommend this game AT ALL, it's just plain boring rushin resources and building the same army every time instead of being able to use different units.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The few negative reviews are literally brain dead and are best ignored. There is no "spyware" and the EULA is pretty standard. It's talking about anti-cheat software. It should be illegal to be this ignorant about EULAs in 2026. Straight up fearmongering BS! Who needs EA when games like Tempest Rising exist? The game is fantastic and well worth the money. TR is the closest to a new Command and Conquer that we will probably ever get. The campaign is fantastic! A good mix of missions that are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's a new C&C tribute-kinda game called Tempest Rising and the gameplay is quite good, but the movies are all animated and the voices sound like AI. Really disappointing. (But I still recommend the game if you like that sort of thing.)
unlabelledView post →**Disappointing treatment of early buyers** I bought Tempest Rising at launch for £30, expecting a three-faction RTS. The third faction wasn't available at launch, but I was happy to wait for it to be added. Now the Veti have arrived, and while the faction itself is thankfully included in the base game for multiplayer and skirmish, their single-player campaign is being sold separately for around £17.50. What makes this particularly disappointing is the current pricing. The base game is now…

You know, life get's ya by the balls and by the time you're ready to sit down and relax, 90% of a time playing games isn't going to be something you'd be doing. Anyways, after contemplating this game for a year now, I figured I'd pull the trigger. Man oh man. If you grew up playing Red Alert, this is a game. A sequel, if you will. I'm typing this up tired as hell, but this feels like I'm back and I'm excited to play some more; whether its tomorrow, coming weekend or…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish there was a more neutral option for Steam reviews, but I can't give this game a straight yes. There are a lot off issues that can be resolved, but wall building is absolutely broken if building north/south because of the grid system. ****Spoilers**** the missions against the surprise enemy at the end are just plain broken. Escorting civilians and the enemies just port in out of no where and slaughter them before your defenders can possibly respond. The AI is just kinda dumb.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am really enjoying this game. About a decade ago I swore to never give EA another dime of my hard earned money. As such I am overjoyed to see another publisher eating their lunch. Not that EA is capable of making games like this anymore, they are not. Thank you for bringing back the type of game that has been gone for far too long. EA sucks.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →[Disclosure: Game provided by publisher] Hey folks, I'm live now! Today let's check out Tempest Rising, a game that harks back to the days of Command & Conquer, and they even got C&C composer Frank Klepacki to do the music. Come by and say hi! www.twitch.tv/caseyexplosion
unlabelledView post →I am generally liking the game, BUT FOR GOD SAKE when you force a pointless cut scene on us make it so our troops stop moving, to many times I've been ambushed by a pointless scene I can't skip mid battle only to come back to my troops half dead and all over the place. Literally ending the mission due to devs being brain dead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Anyone who loves Red Alert will love Tempest Rising It's a soul-bound game to C&C, Very identical in both gameplay & style, A shame RTS and strategy games don't have a large playerbase. 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow, glowing user reviews for Tempest Rising! I was genuinely not expecting that, as RTS fans tend to be brutal and exacting, and the game only barely survived the whole rolling Embracer catastrophe. This month isn't just overloaded with games, but good ones too. Gonna be catching up for months...

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Apart from regular Microsoft remasters, bigger budget real-time-strategy games feel very dead for a good while now. EA did everything in their might to kill off Command & Conquer for good while Blizzard only cares about the MMORPG and heavily monetized mobile spin-offs in the Warcraft universe. So it also feels like a little wonder when some other publisher tries to fill that gap. 3D Realms that now belong to Saber Interactive greenlit an RTS that feels premium, offers high-end graphics and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tempest Rising channels classic RTS design in a contemporary package, specifically invoking memories of Command & Conquer and similar late-90s/early-2000s titles. Base building, resource gathering, army production, and tactical engagements reminiscent of classic Command & Conquer. Two playable human factions at launch (Global Defense Force & Tempest Dynasty), each with distinct units and style. Deep unit compositions and strategic choices that reward tactical positioning and timing. Campaign…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tempest Rising has nice graphics, engaging campaign with good narration. It has 3 factions with interesting skills offering variety of strategies. They obviously learn from past RTSs mistakes, retain and improved what is working. You would ask why no one is talking about it and why it's not the new greatest hit in RTS genre. Well, multiple of things is wrong with the game that holds it back from being good competitive game or even enjoyable on single-player created maps, also many questionable…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to like it, but it just feels bland and lifeless. The hand of Nod is clearly in the game and that is when it hit me it just has none of the soul or heart Command and Conquer did. I would rather replay those old games, there has been no great leaps, UE5 is not a leap forward, the cut scenes were bad even by C&C standards. Long live Kane!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →close enough, welcome back command and conquer (game is Tempest: Rising)
unlabelledView post →Unfortunately, I can't recommend at full price right now. The game factions are unbalanced and the gameplay feels ridiculous. GDF has to spend a lot of resources and time in every skirmish to get good tech in order to balance the basic infantry of the Dynasty, i.e. they spam flamethrowers, which are way too powerful, and take out tanks, vehicles and infantry before you can blink. The game tries to somewhat fill the C&C gap, but it's not doing it right, at least not yet. If the devs fix the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do not buy. On first glance, this looks like a really good Command & Conquer style game. And it could have been. The gameplay itself is kinda good - like Nod vs GDI. Yet, I bought this game in "early access" and they advertised to have THREE factions, which would inclued the (stylistically lame, but anyways) third faction, the Veti. Somehow, they didn't deliver any of that up to this day. FAR WORSE: They now have the nerve to announce that the third faction will be brought in via a PAID DLC !!…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →promises 3 factions during launch. delivers two to justify quality. Then charges for the third. Will be refunding this game under breach of contract under the australia consumer act.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lets be clear. This IS C&C. It isnt like C&C, it IS C&C. Loved it so far but I have observed a few buggettes. Some units seem to freeze. They just get stuck and refuse to move or obey any commands. Selecting groups does not always work. Units do not defend themselves. A helicopter can be above a unit perfectly capable of shooting the helicopter down and it will just sit there taking fire. I have tried playing around with various options but I cannot change this behaviour. I have to add that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worth getting if you like RTS games for sure. It may not be revolutionary, but it is fun. The gameplay is good, the graphics are quite nice and run well, the campaign is well done, it's just a fun game overall. It does achieve the goal of feeling like a modern Command and Conquer type game, though in a slightly different world since EA owns C&C and has decided to kill it, like so many other franchises. Also of note is that single player has some nice quality of life features for those of us…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think now is a great time to buy. Its 35% off. The campaign is good. The new race they added is completely different than the main 2 factions and I think they are extremely fun to play. The game is in a great place right now. That said, there is almost no multiplayer community out there. You must go to the discord to setup matches from what I've seen. This sucks but if you want a cool RTS that fits the late 90s early 2000s vibe with QOL updates and a new faction otw its worth 40 bucks off…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My game, Tempest Rising, will be launching on April 24th, 2025. If you preordered the Deluxe Edition (which comes with an artbook and the game's kickass soundtrack) you also get advanced access starting in 10 days, on April 17th! :O
unlabelledView post →Fantastic RTS, a true return to the Command & Conquer era. Cheesy story, awesome units, great graphics and very cool story. I cant wait for an expansion with the third playable race, I oinly hope they include more story elements.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For starters, this isn't a 'love song' to old RTS games ... this is C&C 3 with different paint on the different factions (I mean the Dynasty infantry facility has TWO hands instead of the one for Nod) ... GDF instead of GDI, Dynasty instead of Nod, Tempest instead of Tiberium. That said, it's a decent game ... plays well, looks gorgeous, fun enough missions even though it does feel like the 'ball of death' is the classic effective winning strategy. Some of the mechanics are ... fiddly?…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was hyped for this but honestly this feels much worse than past C&C games. It is not a bad game but a very mediocre game. Also I remember they had stated there will be 3 factions, they never mentioned they would sell the missions for the third as a DLC...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When this game first came out, it didn't really hook me in, at least, not in the same way that RA2 and C&C3 once did. I played the campaign for a bit, didn't really like it, and I stopped playing. Recently, I decided to try the game again, after some encouragement from a friend who did like the game, this time actually taking some time to explore the factions more in skirmish, and I think I am now seeing the vision. Shout out to the devs for adding a casual skirmish AI difficulty setting,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring. They should have been getting inspiration from Red Alert 2 and Tiberian Sun, not Red Alert 3 and Tiberium Wars. Campaign missions are mostly a slog. Graphics and optimisations are great though. Some of the music tracks are good.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →>We know many of you have been eagerly awaiting this since even before launch. Yeah b can't wait to pay more money for the ♥♥♥♥ you promised me since launch.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tempest Rising’s tweaks of the C&C formula are mostly downgrades. Nostalgia takes you back to times in your life you felt safe. The engineer rushes, the harvester harassment, driving your conyard across the map as a last ditch survival attempt - these emergent experiences stayed in every C&C game from 1995 to 2009. The gameplay never changed until the very end. Tempest Rising has these key C&C moments in droves, but the few tweaks it makes to the formula are almost all negative. First is the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you liked C&C before EA killed it then you'll like Tempest Rising. It's a spiritual successor to the Tiberium universe and you will feel right at home. Good RTS games are harder to find these days but this is worth the money.

unlabelledView post →My assumption was that all three faction campaigns would be part of the base game. Now the 3rd faction is a paid DLC. Given that the game already was very mixed for me before - felt far too much like Starcraft instead of the expected CC - this development turns it into a clearly negative experience.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is if Command & Conquer, C&C Red Alert, and C&C Tiberian Sun all somehow had a baby together, and that baby was engineered to be better and more polished and up-to-date with modern gameplay UX sensibilities. I've struggled with the common feeling of not being that interested in gaming as I've gotten older, and I don't know if it's me or just that games nowadays are not as magical as they used to be. My brother told me about this game, and I got it so I could have something to play with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tempest Rising Honest Review (1000+ Hours Played) I’ve played well over 1000 hours across multiple accounts, and I genuinely wanted this game to succeed. At its core, Tempest Rising has the potential to be a great RTS and some of the developers clearly care about the project. Unfortunately, the game is heavily held back by very poor management and painfully slow updates. Patches take months to arrive, and when they finally do, they often come with very little meaningful content. Major…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So this one will have a lot “we have it at home” cause that’s essentially how this game is mostly. It clearly positioned itself as C&C and Red Alert spiritual successor which did both good and bad for it - lot of publicity for rts crowd who were hungry for new title and oldschool players who wanted another dose of C&C. Buuut, those who experienced it will feel like it’s inferior in every way, not a bad game, just inferior to its inspiration. So lets start with graphics or more specifically…

unlabelledView post →Its much like the old C&C games. There is nothing new, improved or revolutionary, experimental or genius about it. It could have perfectly been a 20 year old game with new graphics. They coppied the old genre without any creativity. While the genre has developed over time, this game moves back on that. If you hope the game is better than C&C because 3 decades of new insights between them, you will be dissapointed. If you hope its as good as C&C, you probably will be dissapointed too. Still…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you’ve only casually followed the real-time strategy genre over the past couple of years, you may well have come to the conclusion that the genre is yet again headed for the grave. Not because there’s no more interest from the fan base, or because there’ve been few high-profile (non-remaster) RTS releases; but because many of the most high-profile releases recently have consistently failed even at the bare fundamentals of how an RTS should function, from terrible pathfinding and overall unit…

unlabelledView post →TLDR: The next-best-thing since Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour for the RTS genre, Tempest Rising provides a fresh-yet-familiar scratch-for-an-itch. While the new factions leave more to be desired, the fan service for CnC fans is blatant. A joy to play. Pros: - Fantastic soundtrack sounds like a classic CnC game. Metal guitars and fast rhythms will get you excited. - Modern visuals and effects are combined with an impactful sound design. You'll really feel when buildings explode. -…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid game with 2 campaigns, 11 missions each. Both factions are suitably different with a 3rd being the "big bad", and now playable in VS. It's a callback to the good old Command & Conquer days. It doesn't reinvent the wheel. It's essentially a fan project, so don't expect an evolution of the genre. With that out of the way, here are the things I dislike: - Readability is poor. While each unit looks different, especially infantry are hard to tell apart in big blobs. Games like StarCraft and…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tempest Rising is the true spiritual successor to the Tiberian-era Command & Conquer games, and it absolutely lives up to that title. The gameplay is excellent, the atmosphere is fantastic, and the nostalgia hits hard. For longtime C&C fans, it's a genuinely enjoyable experience. The moment the game was announced, I was incredibly excited because it looked very promising. I played the demo, loved it, and bought the game on release without hesitation. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great strategy game ticking all the right boxes for old-school players like me. Cutscenes, basebuilding, resource harvesting, and a decent story campaign. The third faction was just thrown into an open beta test without foreshadowing. Just a message - here you go, have fun. Just like that. (And that faction, the Veti, is extremely fun and novel in many ways!) Another great thing is, on top of that: Devs listen to the community. They just added superweapons because of it.
