What i wanna talk about is the strange use of AI in some (if not all?) of the portraits, and looking at it now, the banner for the game??? and then, proceeding to lie through their teeth about it. We have eyes, either your artist(s) (no name is ever given) suddenly forgot how to draw shoulder muscles, hands, faces, roses ect, or you used AI. I could sit…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think this game currently still feels VERY early access. It's really weird and unnatural to have the romance dialogues available for complete strangers, people don't actually have real dialogue when you interact with them, and I find myself struggling to fill the day with activities. Typically in this sort of game, there is some strong point-- either the farming, the combat, the crafting, or the characters and story, but in this game all of those things feel incredibly superficial and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After playing three hours, I decided to refund. The game feels very unpolished. It's not bad by any means, I just expect more from a full release. Some of the things I encountered: Cons - The town is mostly empty. I rarely see people walk in it... they often just stand? Staring at walls??? - NPC teleport around the map a lot - Your farm is SO far away from the town, it takes a while walking the distance. There's quick travel. The distances lead you to teleport everywhere, which in turn means…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played a lot of farming sims (Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons, Stardew Valley, Sun Haven, etc etc etc). I grabbed this game on a whim because I was itching to play a farming sim, and thought "Well this looks like it will be fine, I guess I'll give it a shot." I wasn't really expecting much, as it was the developer's second game. What I wasn't ready for was the obvious amount of love that went into this game. The character designs, the artwork, and especially the dialogue and storytelling.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played the demo back in 2024 and really looked forward to the full game. It was really good. The story is interesting and the art is cute. When it was launched as early access I hesitated to buy and waited a bit to see the reviews. I finally bought it around the end of year sale to give it a shot and I regret buying it. First of, the map is huge which is a good thing but it is empty. There's really nothing to do even foraging is too scattered and scarce. The monsters are the same and always…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As many others have said, this game doesn't not feel like a 1.0 full release. I bought the game in the 2025 Winter Sale but held off for full release but now I don't even know why I did that because there's a ton of bugs still, a lot of controls and combat just feel wonky, and some things run poorly especially loading screens (I've tried on PC and Steam Deck both). But my main complaint is that it just feels a bit lifeless. I expected more energy and life to the game but overall it just feels…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been sitting on a copy of this game since shortly after they launched into early access, and have been waiting until full release to jump in. So I'm really glad to see they've made it and have launched into 1.0. My reviews are usually on the longer side, but this one is long even for me. I've got a lot to say, and honestly a lot of it is not great. But I want to make something very clear before going into the bulk of the review: I've been having a lot of fun, even with all the negatives.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Now, you're going to see the thumbs down and think this is a bad review, but its really not. So far i'm really enjoying the game. It's a little clunky at times and I haven't had the performance issues that some people are experiencing, but its still enjoyable and something fun to pass the time. I only have two main issues so far with the game and it could just be cause it's still in early access. One, there's no fox transformation for the player character. You're a fox Yokai, but cant…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tales of Seikyu is one of those games where I can see the charm and potential very clearly, even if my Early Access experience was not perfect. The world, creature designs and overall idea are genuinely lovely and I really like the mix of farming, exploring, relationships, yokai elements and little life sim details. It has a very soft and unique identity, which makes me want to root for it. For now, I’m recommending it because I do think there is something special here and I want to see where…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to like this game, I really did. There's too much unpolished jank, broken npc interactions, half baked systems, and awful pacing. I could overlook all of that, but the straw that broke the camels back. Romance. Doing romance targets questline, hit quest that required advancing another characters questline to a certain point first. Fine whatever. Maxed that characters hearts, did their questline in its entirety, did all their events, all while maxing romance targets hearts.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story and graphics are cute and made me excited to play it, but unfortunately it's another "cozy" game that has timed quests, super limited inventory, and essentially stamina. You can refill your energy, but the energy food doesn't stack so your inventory gets even MORE limited because you have to have multiple foods on you to get anything done.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game isnt finished, had a lot of potential, but it was moved out of early access long before it was finished and now looks to be abandoned. The game has a lot of bugs, some game breaking and plenty that cause massive spoilers, they didnt even bother to write quests properly, do them in the wrong order and you get massive spoilers, overly sexualized female characters, hastily added male characters after backlash that arent properly integrated in the game or the story. The devs are moving on…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got it in a twitch raffle because I was interested in the concept and it did seem like there was generative AI used in some places, especially how Kon looks in her portraits (which almost never matches her tone and the expressions make little sense) but I gave it the benefit of the doubt at first. It feels very copy the farming sim recipe with a unique concept but terrible execution and who knows how much Generative AI slop really was used in the process. I've tried really hard to go with…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →🥀 Losing Hope. I reviewed this on March 9 with goodwill. It is now April 20, and my confidence has gone down, not up. At €24.50, this still does not feel like a solid Early Access game. On release it felt closer to alpha. Now, to my eyes, not enough has improved where it actually counts. 🍞 This is not bread. It is batter. Early Access should feel structurally in place, even if rough. This still feels underbuilt. What makes that worse is the update messaging. A recent update read like…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Why does every part of this game feel unfinished? I’ve found so many bugs and there’s something weird in almost every corner.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is something really charming about this game and I had a lot of fun exploring its world and taking care of my little farm!! its a cute farming life sim with a really interesting yokai theme, where you can grow crops, raise animals, explore the island and even transform into different creatures with unique abilities. i really liked how the game mixes relaxing farming with exploration, adventure and a bit of magic, making it feel like theres always something new to discover. definitely a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →bought this on release, blatantly uses ai assisted artwork and does not disclose this. refunded it the same day i bought it. it's obvious the team is talented, but they clearly must have used ai in some of the art sprite process because you can tell based on weird artifacts and the fact that they HAVE used ai on previous game(s) afiak. not to mention utterly poor performance when i initially played it. not sure about now. not to mention a female protagonist was only added because stretch goals…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Announcing a new game extremely shortly after this game goes 1.0 without core features is kind of insane. Keep in mind that the new friendslop game they announced was made simultaneously. Wasting resources to make a friendslop game is kind of bull.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought this game for the Steam Deck. The performance is horrible, how tf is this "verified"? It stutters heavily very often, sometimes freezes for seconds. Will come back in a while, hopefully to a better optimized game. For now you should stay away, if you want it for the "Deck-Experience".
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →tl;dr - Tales of Seikyu is a nice idea, especially with the yokai stories, but lacks good gameplay mechanics in almost every aspect by now. You can see the vision theyre having but also feel the lack of polish. For now, I cant recommend it but I will hope it will a thumbs up by the time of 1.0 release It is in development, okay. But hell is it stuttering, on windows even more then on nobara linux. the overall yokai theme is very intressting an I want to dive down deep into all the characters,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall, a nice twist on the farming sim genre. It's fun and I haven't encountered a lot of bugs. They have been applying patches whenever they do find bugs so the dev team is doing a good job of staying active and making the game better. I do think the game could do with more polishing - 1.0 seems a little like it came too early. My only large complaint is the AI artwork. I honestly wish I had read reviews before buying because if I had known about the AI I wouldn't have bought it. I very…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I first got the game and loaded in I was already put off. I tried to give it time, just like reading a book, maybe it needed a moment to settle. By the time I decided I didn't really like it, it was too late to return. THE GOOD: This is a farming sim with a twist. It does get you out of that regular idea if you're burning out on it. The story is interesting, I want to dive deeper into it. The quests are quick and easy. Some of the character art is gorgeous. I like being able to have…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feels underbaked for a 1.0. Suggest to wait this one out till further releases
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So, I want to like this game. It's a very interesting game, and the premise is really, really neat. Unfortunately, the game does not live up to its premise. The good is that the characters are neat, the concepts are interesting, the ruins are a healthy dose of difficult without feeling impossible. The yokai forms are fun, the music is good, the designs are (for the most part) pretty great. There's some qol that could be found in most of these areas, but for now, the day-to-day is largely…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I started playing this, and then refunded it. The game is pretty janky. Conversations are weird, and jilted. There's an anti-aliasing option in the graphics settings, but it appears to do... nothing? All of the character models looked completely awful and jagged, like it was a PSX game. There's also a lot of controversy over the use of generative AI, which the developers deny, but there's inconsistencies that seem very consistent with generative AI, so take away from that what you will. Above…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The devs, after a long silence, moved on. There was a post 1.0 roadmap, but they decided that instead it's time to make a quick cash grab friendslop game. They used the name Seikyu in that game hoping it would capture our hearts, but instead heed our warning: Don't buy this game, devs refuse to communicate with the community, and rushed the game out of Early Access, when it was still buggy and bad. I left two serious bug reports, with contacts. None of them were addressed, and still in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game uses AI generated art (stolen without credit or compensation from real artists) and is not transparent about that fact. I was incredibly disappointed to find such low quality, cheap, stolen work.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you love the Rune Factory series, you are gonna LOVE this game. It is has the potential to go above and beyond R.F. at this point... It's pretty hard to come by cozy adventure games that stack up to R.F., imo. Most fail to check all the boxes, and typically fall short in some major aspect. This game seems to have it all, and delivers them with a modern game engine and visually pleasing graphics. (often times games will one or the other, not both.) The game did just recently release…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am thoroughly enjoying this game! It's got an even balance of adventure, story, sim and romance. And the romantic options (both male and female) are attractive with rich story backgrounds. My only very small complaint is the lack of customization on your characters face and clothing options. I do recommend for anyone who likes life sim with adventure.

unlabelledView post →While initially charming, the game feels unpolished and not ready for 1.0. There's also the AI allegations, and while there's a speedpaint playlist featuring some portraits, it's hard to shake the suspicion when Nyotengu - a romance candidate and one of the first characters you encounter - has her tattoo on different sides between her portrait and model. The store page even features a screenshot showing both at the same time! I get mistakes happen, but the fact it was still present in the 1.0…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It...wasn't ready. I listened to the reviews and pressed on but I came across soft locks, npcs who get lost, the dungeon mechanics are...really unintuitive, dialogue is really strange and the way the relationship system works is just odd and the sequence of events makes absolutely no sense. A lot of folks said that there is a lot to do in this game, but there really isn't. This needed way more time in the oven and I feel a bit dumb for believing in these reviews, was really hoping for an…

(no time) - the battle techniques are too simple (no defense) even in other simple…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To be honest, I think this game is highly overrated. Before buying it, I read a lot of positive reviews and thought I was about to play something special. The way people talked about the game set my expectations very high. However, after actually playing it, I was left wondering what all the praise was about. The game feels very basic and not really ready yet in terms of features and content. 1. For a game where stores only open at specific times, there is no clear indicator showing when a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like Tales of Seikyu, but the performance made it unplayable for me. Even with the resolution set to the absolute lowest and graphics settings turned down, the game still runs extremely poorly. This doesn’t feel like a settings issue it feels like an optimization problem. Constant lag and stuttering made it hard to enjoy or even properly play the game. I understand it’s Early Access, but right now the performance alone is a dealbreaker. I like the art style and the idea…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't normally review, but I was so pleasantly surprised by this game. I don't normally find myself enjoying the relationship aspect this much, but the townsfolk are well imagined and a joy to interact with. I love that your furniture is actually functional (no more chests cluttering my home!), and the combat is actually fun. Looking forward to future updates and would recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played long enough to see the whole lackluster story through. Buggy, unfinished and disjointed game. Every minute of gameplay there's some kind of friction: lack of polished control scheme, unexplained gameplay mechanics, out-of-order quest triggers, ect.. Updates are not regular or polished enough for early access, but somehow this is being sold as a 1.0 full release. A 1.0 release that doesn't include children, by the way. But it's in the roadmap, just trust the process, right? Well, instead…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would have liked to give this game a positive review, as I was really enjoying the game. The characters and character art are very charming, the story is engaging and I like the map design. However, I cannot in good conscience recommend this game to other people. Straight to the point: I do not support generative AI and avoid, as best as I can, any AI-generated media and content. The "Why" is another discussion entirely. This is just my personal decision, to make it clear. Now, I saw…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Straight forward and simple review here. I want to recommend it as there is a lot to love but I'd highly recommend people wait for it to cook a bit. Pros -You can pet all the kitties! -The character art is absolutely gorgeous -Music is very soothing -Beautiful world -Gameplay is relaxing, especially in the easy mode -Just seeing a lot of potential -Fast travel unlocking right away is nice given your house is a distance from town -Very little lag/stuttering -Good romance options -Somewhat…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great game with amazing potential. Although the Steamdeck itself might say otherwise, this is fully playable on the Steamdeck. The only thing which might be an issue for some is that the text size will be much smaller. Pros: -Customizable characters; you can play as either the brother or the sister, and for sections such as the hair and eyes, you can either select from a preset color or adjust the hue/saturation/color to completely customize your character -Difficulty settings;…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I love the worldbuilding and lore, the gameplay cycle is dull and unrewarding while the expansive world felt pointless. I only found appeal in two of the NPCs which is extremely bad but I did find the character creation to be a smooth process. Home decor was bland AF early game but that takes a ton of development to expand, as well as mid-late game for the player to experience. My biggest criticism on farming sims is that they are almost always gathering sims. You farm to unlock…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The art style is beautiful and the scenery is very relaxing. This game has potential, but in the early access stage, it has many things to improve. First it's too laggy. When I come to the town or encounter something, it stopped working for a while. Second. the contents and story in game is too little, compare to its world. It's all about farming, doing daily quests. The story quest is just the beginning currently. Except hugging and hot spring, there's no deepening the relationship or intimate…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This really isn't a bad game. I've been playing it on Steam deck, and it IS stuttering and lagging... On the portable handheld. I have yet to play it on a decent desktop set-up, so I will report back and talk about the experience there. [EDIT:] The performance on desktop is MUCH much smoother. Sometimes there's little blips, but they're barely there at all. I don't mind the performance on either Steam deck or on PC, so this works out great for me. So far, I think this is very much a game in…

unlabelledView post →Unfortunately, the game does not feel finished. I highly recommend finding an artist that can redraw the character portraits to match the aesthetic of the game models; otherwise you're going to have to deal with continued complaints. I find the level design is a bit awkward, with buildings placed haphazardly and creating lots of odd back areas that look out of place. I'll come back and see if anything has changed in a few months
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kind of like a half finished Rune Factory I guess? You can run around picking stuff up but you dont have any use for most of it. You can grow a couple things but theres really no point because you really dont need money for anything. NPCs seem like they're supposed to have some kind of schedule but they usually just face a wall and keep trying to walk through it then teleport to a different spot when a certain time hits. Its like they tested every feature for about 3 seconds then said its…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I gave it a thumbs up, because I think this is a charming little game with a sincere and well-intentioned team, I do have some thoughts about it re: improvements, (given with the understanding that this is still in early access). Why one might choose to pick this one up: For me a cosy game is, first and foremost, a place where you can just breathe for a little while, choose how you spend your time and relax in a world that feels entirely more wholesome and kind than our own. That…

Anyways big love!
unlabelledView post →It's difficult for me to decide whether I recommend this game or not. Initially I was going to give a negative review but when the first update after 1.0 came out, it gave me hope that over time this game will improve. TLDR Game feels unpolished. It's giving early access. a lot of inconsistencies and annoyance. But it still hit the farming itch I've been wanting the scratch. Long Review Farming. 10/10 LOVE IT. It hit the spot. Kinda typical for any farming game, but I wouldn't ask for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tales of Seikyu is a decent game, but after completing the main story, I can't say that I recommend it. If you really need to scratch the itch for a farming life sim, this game does have some good points - for example, using the different yokai transformations for farming was a good, albeit quickly abandoned, idea - but you'd be better served with Guardians of Azuma, as that game is far more polished in every way. First, for a farming game, the economy is too simplistic: more often than not,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished Nioh 3 and started craving a slice of life game. Tales of Seikyu was exactly what I was looking for. Lots of things to look forward to when the 1.0 update drops. Better fishing, farming automation, etc. Some of the game's math isn't mathing sometimes though. For example: 1 Rice Plant = 135 gold It takes 2 Rice Plant(270) to convert it to Rice, which goes for 375 per unit. It takes 2 RICE(750) to make a single Sake, which sells for.... wait for it... 120 gold. WAT. Check the value…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →maybe in the future it'll be okay, but at the moment i can't recommend it. optimization is horrible even when i meet maximum recommended specs; microstutters even when im asking for the bare minimum of 60 FPS and mostly medium settings; pop in occurs literally five inches from my face. people comparing this to the level of RFGoA are basically lying, unless they mean that the game runs like it belongs on switch 1. it doesn't help that it isn't even worth ignoring all of this everyone i meet…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Put in my Voice audition for another game! I'm very excited! Tales of Seikyu looks so cute, and has fishing!!
unlabelledView post →This feels like a game in very early access... PROS: - cute cats - you can adopt cats CONS: - bland conversations with NPCs, no character whatsoever - poor mechanics - game feels very unfinished - everything is all over the place, the game isn't intuitive and unless you want to spend the majority of the time looking things up on google, i don't recommend it Another thing I noticed is the art... it's very odd and it wouldn't surprise me if the claims about AI were true.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tales of Seikyu 1.0 is here! 🥳 so much hard work and creativity has gone into this game - HUGE thank you to everyone who has supported ToS during the Early Access journey. we hope you love the full game as much as we do! 💙 #indiegame #gamedev #cozygame #newgame
unlabelledView post →Really looking forward to them fleshing this game out more. Its a beautiful world, I absolutely love shinto mythology so this hit a homerun for me. Things that need to be worked on is diversity of enemies, expand or add more dungeons, add more to the world its so big with nothing in it. More townies, and alot more depth for them. The characters really need more. Im struggling to get attached to anyone. More clothes too. More events and festivals, maybe have the characters clothing also change…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game mostly feels frustrating, unpolished and unfinished. It's like they played a bunch of farming sim games and took the features/mechanics they liked the most from them and implemented them at their most basic level. A round of polishing and better game design would have done this game wonders. They had a great idea and foundation, a lot of lore they could've expanded on but they never delivered. There are a bunch of bugs too. Some that impact your session or even save and are not…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first, this game was great! Was cute and fun. I didn't like how empty the world was outside of the town though, and the sound design for watering and planting is...grating. It's EXTREMELY genshin coded with most animations, obviously the scenery too, but I was already aware of that from the trailer and stuff. The story felt...short. It's also a huge headache to get money in the game, but maybe there are secret money making ways I'm unaware of, unsure. But, I put all that aside cause I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR; I wanted to love this game as it was perfect for me on paper, but I wish I hadn't bought it in early access a year ago because now I can't refund it on full release. It's gorgeous and has brilliant ideas, but the execution so far makes it mechanically one of the worst farming games I've played. I WANT this game to be good, but right now it isn't. Okay, that's a lot to unpack, so the simplified list: Pros: -the art is stunning, the world vibrant, and the setting unique among other…
