Syberia II
Developer Microids
Syberia II is a 2004 graphic adventure game developed and published by MC2-Microïds. As the direct sequel to 2002's Syberia, it is a third-person puzzle-solving game. Although it is stylistically identical, Syberia II improves upon the first game by introducing more realistic character animation. The game includes a recap of the first chapter, so it does not require the player to have experienced the first game. From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As the sequel to Syberia, this sequel plays out almost exactly the same with how you can interact with objects in the map to find clues, chat with the NPCs as well as more puzzles to solve. You can also pick the difficulty, from beginner to difficult, before starting the game. A new feature included for this game is Kate's notepad, which lists all the different questions you can ask another character. This reduces the backtracking issues that many other players have pointed out with the first…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wealthy (and unique) narrative, traditional point-and-click, good puzzles with stunning visuals. It might seem lengthy (with plenty of walking involved), but the views are truly stunning! Many of the puzzles are quite good, but a few will leave you squirming in your chair. This game is greatly cherished and also suitable for children
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Combined review for Syberia and Syberia 2. I enjoyed these games a lot, the story was interesting as well as the characters and voice acting was very good! The environments was nice too. What I didn't like was the time I spent walking seemingly forced from one place to another, even as I ran everywhere this took a lot of time. Some puzzles didn't make sense since there were no hints on how to solve them. I don't like guessing and spending time using x^y combinations. This became even worse in…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you played the first game and didn't like it, then you probably won't like this game either, since it's so close to the previous game. So if you aren't a fan of point & clicks or puzzle games, then look elsewhere. However, I enjoyed this game a lot, and I think it's great. Syberia 1&2 are basically meant to be played back to back, since each game is one half of a whole story. And the first game ends on a cliffhanger that the second game immediately starts on. The gameplay, menu,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Syberia II was a disappointing sequel for me. The first game started strong, introducing a wonderful cast and some of the best character development I’ve seen in a video game. This follow up undermines much of what made Syberia great. The plot feels dull and predictable, with every major development visible a mile away. In many ways, Syberia II feels like a story DLC—like the “final chapter” was separated from the main storyline and sold on its own. It doesn’t work well as a standalone, and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Syberia 2 is the ending of the duology where we finally get to Syberia! This game is still a solid classic with a charming story but received some quality of life improvements. Unfortunately there is a bug on newer computers where everything is sped up (need to look up a fix, easy but annoying). Syberia 1 ended not on a cliffhanger but a midpoint. The first two games need to be played as one. Feels like they chopped the story in half for whatever reason, maybe not enough time to develop the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is very similar to its predecessor but unlike its predecessor it does not have anything that resonates with me so everything that bothered me in the first game (difficulty in identifying items of interest from the background, slow animations, convoluted puzzles, back-tracking etc.) now feels more pronounced. It is a shame as I genuinely had my hopes up as I started playing it. The first chapter did feel good. But the experience gradually turned sour and sour until the only reason I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a classic, the vibe is great, the story is lovely. But playing this game is such a hassle. Too many useless location in between the main locations and you have to get to this end of the map to the other end with no skippable walking animation. Too many conditions must be met for an option to show up. Played this for 3 hours, out of which for 2 hours I just walked probably.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first time I played Syberia was many years ago when I bought it from the jewel case CD-ROM PC game section of Walmart (essentially, the bargain bin) on a whim. At that time, the first game was extremely captivating to me. With the cliffhanger ending set up by the first, I knew I would eventually get around to the second game. (More on cliffhangers later) It's been many years, and perhaps those years have not been so kind. There aren't really problems with graphics or even the stability of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately it is in every aspect worse than original game. Story. Dialogues. Characters. Puzzles. Depth. It's not a bad game. But it's not the deep Syberia I fell in love with. This thing is so shallow.. --- Also Steam version didn't run in my PC, I had to buy GOG version instead..

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Syberia 2, developed and published by Microids, is the continuation of Benoît Sokal’s beloved point-and-click adventure that once again blends melancholic storytelling, intricate art direction, and mechanical ingenuity into a journey of wonder and loss. Picking up immediately where the first game ends, it follows Kate Walker as she abandons her life as a corporate lawyer to accompany Hans Voralberg, the eccentric inventor whose lifelong dream of finding the mythical land of Syberia has consumed…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →2nd instalment of the Syberia saga. I used to play it as a little kid and I have probably finished it tens of times so I was quite happy to discover it on Steam as well! Obviously bought it and played it through - only wish it had some achievements too, but otherwise it´s Your classic adventure game with puzzles and deep story lore.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Point-and-click adventure games have always suffered from two problems: moon logic, where the solution to a problem only makes sense to aliens; and pixel hunting, where the item you need to advance is the size of a gnat's eyelash, hidden in a where's-Waldo-esque landscape. And unfortunately, Syberia II has plenty of both. It doesn't help that the default cursor, the cursor that means "this is something you can look at" and the one that means "this is something you can manipulate" look similar…

You must play Syberia I first, as the games were designed as a whole unit. Syberia 1's end is underwhelming, but with this game the story is completed in a nicer tone. graphics are nice, considering the time that has passed. Ocassionally there will be some pixel hunting as they game gave preference to graphigcs over playability and itis not always clear where you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After purchasing and installing I discovered there are several issues with this game running on "newer" (I think something within the last decade is considered new here) machines. it appears that the speed the game runs is tied to your refresh rate and anything >= 60Hz is too fast. The dialog will cut off while a character is in the middle of speaking and you have to keep running the dialog choices to see what you are missing. If it wasn't one dollar i'd be kinda mad. I found this (this works…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After the first Syberia, I didn’t think playing an older game without a remaster would be a problem for me. But Syberia 2 made me realize how necessary those quality-of-life improvements actually were. Playing this without a guide feels like you either need to be a genius or you need to constantly backtrack, recheck places you already checked, and try random things until something works. The puzzles feel much more disconnected this time. Sometimes I knew what I needed to do, but if I missed…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just like the first Syberia game, the graphics and sound have aged fairly well, and the story is nice. The dialogs and voice acting are a bit mixed. The less than good news are the illogical puzzles and the huge amount of walking back and forth between the same places, presumably these are there to make the game last longer. The really bad, even for the time, is the interface itself, including navigation around locations, interacting with objects, the dialog interactions with npc's, and how…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Syberia II Review – A Puzzle-Filled Journey Worth Every Minute Let me just say this: Syberia II is significantly more challenging than Syberia I or remastered one when it comes to puzzles. I found myself lost more times than I could count — the game really pushes your logic and patience to the limit. And I played the remastered version on Adventure Mode, meaning no extra hints. It was brutal… but brilliant. • Gameplay: 10/10 • Sound Design: 9/10 • Immersion: 100% The atmosphere is…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the story and ease of gameplay. It's a very relaxing way to spend a rainy day.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kate Walkers journey goes deeper into melancholy beauty, and while the puzzles sometimes feel like they were designed by a particularly eccentric clockmaker, they fit the strange rhythm of this frozen world. Its not just a continuation, it’s a rare sequel that doubles down on atmosphere and story, making you feel like you’re wandering through a moving painting touched with equal parts magic and sorrow.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It suffers from the same problems as the first part, so I won't repeat myself talking about those issues. However, there is more! It's way less interesting setting-wise, and it dawned on me how useless everyone is in this story, you have to do everything on your own. Two damn games spent helping some old, unlikeable, egotistical dude for a weak ass ending.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've never been a "gamer," but went through Adventure game phase. Always unexpected when you mention something I played... It's happened again...played Amerzone & Syberia. Got Syberia II, but I had some disc glitch I couldn't get past & never finished.
unlabelledView post →Positives: ----------- The game works fine on Windows 10 Negatives: ------------ The dialogue is dreadful (some of that might be translation) The conversations with other characters is often repeated The characters are forgetable The puzzles are not fun Certain puzzles require other actions to be completed before the puzzle can be completed Lots of walking back and forth (a staple in point and click) Items that can be collected are often blended in with the background (pixel hunting). negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game came out when the point & click adventure game genre was almost dead. I actually own three copies of this one but I never bothered to really play this until now. I had completed Syberia when it came around and didn't need any walkthrough at all. However, for this one I had to look up a guide a couple of times, just because I missed a hotspot or a location by accident. The main problem with this game is that it's actually quite boring and too simple. Most of the locations are empty…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Heya folks, here's a 2nd short featuring Syberia II by Microids. I'm making pretty good progress through the game. This one's quite a bit shorter than the first game, so it shouldn't take a lot longer to complete. #syberia2 #videogames #retrogames #adventuregames #shorts
unlabelledView post →It's slower, that's for sure, but it's intriguing and interesting. Just plain different. I really enjoy The Syberia episodes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nice follow on from the first game. Enjoyable in 2024, never played it when it first came out. Some of the dialogue was cut off but no biggie. Would recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kate Walker has discarded her life (and consequently character and own agency) to fulfill the dream of Hans Voralberg, but the game has failed to make me care about the old ♥♥♥♥♥♥'s obssession with mammoths in the same way.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →7/10 Was this a great game in 2004? probably. I enjoyed the characters and the setting and story. It's a good game. I just wouldn't recommend this to anybody. I also got confused at one spot so I gave up... But man oh man 2004 this must have been so cool back then. You also have to do some downloads and file maneuvers to get this game out of its original resolution but not the end of the world.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The second part is better than the first. The snow areas and the story are great. Just a lot of walking again.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Syberia II is a good continuation of the first game, with the same beautiful atmosphere, memorable locations, and melancholy tone. The story feels a bit less grounded and some puzzles are more frustrating than clever, but the journey still has a lot of charm. Not quite as special as the first for me, but still very worth playing. 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It looks better than the original, but still has issues with tiny, difficult to spot items that end up being required to solve puzzles. The puzzles are extremely linear and have only one solution, and even when there's an obvious path, you must solve it the way the game wants you to solve it. Some of the puzzles are of nearly Sierra-level difficulty; at least you can't die or get soft-locked (that I'm aware of). Movement is just as slow as the original, and it wasn't until near the very…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a great game, so nostalgic, throws me back to childhood and to playing it with my dad and friends. The story is so sweet, the youki is soooo cuuute, the ending is beautiful, and the puzzles are fun though sometimes frustrating lol. Not a fan of the magic and spells and all that, but it was such a small part of the game that it was easy to look past. This is probably my favorite game of the series. Also not sure why her past employer was so obsessed with her? I mean even if she was the best…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This proves that games doesn't need good graphics, Still the second best game and story ever created. 10/10 Without a doubt.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This sequel is even worse than the first game. It's more of the same: trial-and-error puzzles with no hints, pixel hunting and lots of walking around (e.g. there is a puzzle where the reset button is 6 screens away). However, this time the story is even more retarded and nonsensical, with a thoroughly disappointing Yukol village and a lame ending. In addition to Oscar being useless, now we also have Hans, who is nothing more than a problem generator. They also added a cartoonishly evil villain…

As you can imagine, hijinks ensue and we not only end up dealing with the wildlife of the harsh and frozen tundra of Russia, but also puzzles and a near train derailment! All the while, Kate is being hunted by a PI, hired…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Their puzzles rely more often on solving mechanical puzzles, and do not rely on inventory item recombination, but the narrative and dialog is generally excellent. If you want to explore his work, Syberia and Syberia II are first rate; I can recommend Syberia Remastered over the original game.
unlabelledView post →Shorter than the prequel and maybe slightly less interesting too but overall a decent installment.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →But you know that you shouldn't play "Syberia II" without playing "Syberia I" first, right? I still have a lot of these Hugo game collections. 💜
unlabelledView post →Syberia II picks up right where the first game left off. You continue your journey toward Syberia, this time with Hans by your side. In terms of visuals, voice acting, and gameplay, not much has changed, which makes it feel like this could have been one large game that was split into two, perhaps due to costs. All the questions raised in the first game slowly begin to find answers. The mystery of Syberia deepens, as does our understanding of what drives Hans toward this seemingly mythological…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of the most boring games of all time. Not even comparing to only point and click games. The game suffers from illogical puzzles and an excessive amount of backtracking between the same locations, which feels artificially designed to extend playtime. Some items cannot be picked up until specific story events are completed, forcing even more repetitive travel. The areas themselves are large but often empty, with little to do and no option for quick traversal, making movement feel…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished Syberia II! A fantastic continuation of the first game's story. Everything that was excellent from the first game is here too, it's basically just more of the same. The plot is wrapped up nicely and the ending sequence is beautiful. I loved playing this!!!!!!!!!
unlabelledView post →I would recommend for point & click fans. I like the storyline. Some interesting characters that you meet. The locations are nicely done. Not too big but big enough to keep you interested. Looking forward to parts 3 & 4.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Syberia II is a step forward making insanely good Syberia I even better! You can meet some saving issues which need fix but the gameplay, story, the graphics nonetheless are insane for that. It gives really good vibes of retro gaming, which I personally like! I played this for a short time (29 minutes) on my old Win 10 rig from 2021, it ran fine, a year later I built a new rig. I just reinstalled it, got a popup saying it needs DirectPlay, installed it, selected New Game, it came up and then crashed, I deselected DirectPlay, verified files and it launched in a tiny window with no option for full…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hate the second game in the series as much as I love the first one. The puzzles got a big problem in this part. It seems that devs got mad after the success of the first Syberia and started doing uncontrollable mess.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a ok game but only if played with a guide just to experience the nice levels, art style and somewhat peculiar story. Otherwise the weird puzzle logic would make you furious, they are really not the yellow from the egg. In order to progress you have to talk to certain characters multiple times as I understood, which requires you to walk back and forth long distances which becomes tiresome quickly despite the beautiful scenery. How fitting that the main character's name is Kate…
