But I thought the point was discomfort? Outright cutting it? With no way to relive that gut sinking feeling from some of the first times I'd throw on a VR headset? Just sucks. This is especially difficult because this was a particularly impactful game to me, I might not ever have cared about VR if not for it. That feeling is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The developers of this game removed scenes alluding to suicide post release, even though there was already a setting to disable them for those who felt uncomfortable with their inclusion. I don't like being told what content I am and am not allowed to experience because the developers got cold feet after the fact. At this point the devs should remove any acts of violence as well as those also relate to bodily harm.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Superhot VR - Was A Great Game, But the Trust is Gone Devs removed a massive, foundational chunk of the game's narrative years after launch—scenes that were integral to the story's climax and meaning. What makes it worse is that they already had a toggle option allowing sensitive players to skip those scenes, but they chose to strip the content entirely for everyone anyway. When creators retroactively alter a completed product that people paid for, it sets a terrible precedent. If they…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really didn't want to buy this game, because the mentally challenged developers decided to censor it, turning it into soulless garbage. Despite my best efforts I couldn't find an "alternative" way to play the uncensored version, because the game just wouldn't work. Unfortunately I had to give these scumbags my money and jump through hoops to uncensor the game. The game was an absolute masterpiece until one day the devs collectively had a psychotic episode and decided that it's okay to remove…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't in good faith support a game who's developers actively censored it into oblivion. No matter the reason; censorship is terrible and destroys art, end of story
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Company retroactively removed content from the game after I paid for it. This is a terrible business practice and companies making these decisions should be avoided like the plague. I used to recommend this game, but I'm retroactively taking that away now.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"You deserve better." Yes, I deserve better than a developer who removes actually evocative scenes from their game due to "current times" after having a perfectly understandable toggle to skip them if they were too dark for your liking. ♥♥♥♥ off. It is understandable to offer the opportunity to avoid it for those who have a history with self-harm. It is not understandable to abruptly remove them from the game and then tote yourself as heroes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the game, but can't recommend because they removed so much of the story, so the game just feels kinda hollow. The gameplay alone is not worth the price.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dev team ruined a good game years after its release because they gave in to some non existant politically correct nonsese. Grow up. You made a VR game, you aren't changing the life of anyone.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game was good. It had a narrative. It had a story. Now the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥ ass developers removed it. Now the game makes no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sense. ♥♥♥♥♥ ass ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ developers honestly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →SUPERHOT VR is genuinely one of the best VR experiences I've had — the time-moves-when-you-move mechanic translates perfectly to virtual reality, and within minutes you feel like an action movie hero dodging bullets in slow motion while hurling objects across the room. Fair warning: I caught myself throwing a punch into my wall mid-session, and apparently I'm not alone in that. The game is short (expect about 2 hours for the main run), so wait for a sale rather than paying full price. I do have…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the most fun games I've ever played and the achievements were a blast to go for. The reason I'm giving it a negative review is because they censored some scenes (by completly removing them) 4 years after the game came out. I think this is really lame and removes the story from the game. One of the things that made this game and the original SUPERHOT interesting is that it was a bit eerie and disturbing. At least make these scenes optional. In fact, at one point they did make it optional…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They basically removed the story ages ago. I just forgot to leave the negative review. Years later however, they haven't added it back. Here's the negative review I meant to leave!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game was fun upon initial release. It had the fun slow motion combat and fighting features, a lot of fun. But the Devs decided to remove content seen as 'harmful' post launch when many people had paid for the full game, now its a shell of its former self without the prior content and is just fighting through with no story to it. I can't recommend it unless you get it for free. Devs be better., put the toggle and our content back.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was such an amazing game. In a way, it still is. But almost five years ago, the developers - under the unilateral instruction of their knobhead former-CEO Piotr Iwanicki - removed an important part of the plot. A part that demonstrates that a body is hardware and hardware is replaceable; mind is software.. The worst part is that, before this happened, this plot development could be hidden behind a "skip disturbing scenes" switch. The OPTION existed to not experience these scenes. They…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They removed scenes from the game years after release and now it doesnt make sense with them missing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hey Devs. Don't go back in 5 years later and change a core part of your game's story and lore. You already had a content warning on it. There was just no reason to do this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent gameplay, but the story feels very lacking nowadays after the whole virtue signaling "murder is ok but suicide is scary and bad" ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The CEO has gone off the rails and removed a once great ending. I cannot support a company that thinks it has the right to take away something the user paid for.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to replay the story but apparently the story is gone. The gameplay loop is fun but the utter removal of a core part of the game with no recourse is awful.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game Used to be very good. But as you can see with the review bombing that happened a while ago, it no longer is. They removed parts of the game that were 100% vital to the story and now it's just a stitched together mess. If you care literally nothing about the story or the fact that the devs were willing to destroy their own game, it's fun. Otherwise, stay away.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →do not play. devs actively gutted game content to appeal to a fragile audience that doesn't even exist. waste of time and money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hey all, I am Mark and you might know me from my work bringing SUPERHOT VR to Quest, my recent game Starship Home or if you're a real OG, my previous game Gravity Lab 🙂 DMs are always open if you need help or advice! ❤️
unlabelledView post →This series is so awesome, i hold superhot so dearly to my heart and the gameplay in this title is top notch. This goes without saying the one thing I love about superhot the most is how immersive and connective the story is to the gameplay. In this case, they've removed about half of the games content and its suicide scenes. Don't remove gameplay just add a button. ESPECIALLY don't force your playerbase on the newest version and not let them revert back. Genuinely the most dissapointed i've…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →blatant censorship
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Censored their own story and neutered the meaning of it, pirating an older version would be easier than dealing with changing depots
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Posting this again because apparently if thousands of people dislike something at the same time then it must be fake. Steam deleted negative reviews when the developers gutted the story after releasing the game. Not in early access, after full release. It is fun, but I cannot recommend supporting a developer that will remove content that they already sold as a complete game.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Man creates a beatiful piece of art, and then destroys it, leaving only an empty consumerism-shaped shell. I guess this counts as performance art, but it's a bit too Brezhnev-style for my taste, and I wouldn't buy a ticket to see just the sad remains of the artwork.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story was censored in a way which makes it less interesting and the challenges, which were designed for the original game, were brought over without enough thought, despite the fact that they don't work well in VR
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had to edit the review since steam wants to censor as well. They removed what you bought and paid for. I would suggest saving your money and just pirate the uncensored version.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →let me kill myself cowards
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They decided to "remove sensitive content", which was the whole cool part of the game. I've tried killing myself previously quite a few times, doing it in a game doesn't "trigger" me. If ts actually offends you, you're a liberal cuck who has the masculinity of a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ grape.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's less than 2 hours of gameplay from start to finish, with a storyline that makes no sense - since they infamously removed all of the SUPERHOT-themed context. It is so much worse than SUPERHOT Do not buy this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I actually do recommend buying this game, I just despise it's destruction of art in the pursuit of something "less offensive". haven't played since the devs edited out then deleted the original story. Now I have to play the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ redaction just to unlock endless, again. Maybe this is the games true meta commentary on self harm...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the game but, cant give it a thumbs up in good conscience when such an integral part of the story has been forcibly ripped out of the game with no care under the guise of "being more sensitive." Not great.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game used to have interesting themes around suicide, escapism, and addiction. it had a sort spiraling aspect to it's story and gameplay where one would give the feeling of being neo doing bullet time impromptu kung fu bad ass stuff while on the other hand you fall deeper into the clutches of the group that controls the super hot program. it is disheartening to see the original vision for the game be molested by one of it own developers.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →two more targets in-game w/ Klepton, Beat Saber 1.40 (Unity version bump) and SUPERHOT VR
unlabelledView post →Used to be a profound story about what it means to lose agency once you give a little too much to machines. Developer decided nobody who bought the game actually wants that story so cutscenes got removed leaving a disjointed mess in it's wake. If you got a time machine go back and play this one around 2020, otherwise don't bother
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Censorship bad.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good game but negative review on principle removing the ability to shoot yourself was done purely for virtue signaling and behavior like this shouldn't be reinforced i was pretty disgusted by the patronizing and insincere language they used in the update announcing this too, "do better" next time
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It does not have joystick movement options in the settings like I thought it would. Which means my play space is too small to work with the amount of locomotion needed to adequately play the game. I would think, even though this game came out very early in the vr scene, that joystick movement accessibility would be a necessary and industry standard update for the game by now. Furthermore certain levels are way more difficult because of this. If you have a small vr playspace or even just prefer…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really disappointing that the developers went back and removed content from the game after people had owned it for years was bad enough. To find out it was to censor pivotal scenes that made the game have that lasting impression... Foolish. Yet again, quality is sacrificed on the altar of someone's feelings. This game was a truly defining component of the VR space for years. How it's legacy has been treated is pathetic.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My assumption at the time was Meta was worried about a controversy/liability of a game where you do that thing you do in Superhot VR, made clear their new “no self harm” clause would be enforced, and informed devs that they would be subject to removal still doesn’t explain removing steam branch
unlabelledView post →Great game, with amazing gameplay, definitely a vr must play, but the CEO of the company who owns it decided to personally gut the entire plot of the game and remove the all mentions and moments of self harm and personal destruction that were the entire point of the original plot. So I can not, in good faith, give this game a positive rating after that, even if its gameplay is super fun. I will probably still play it but I will forever be disappointed that the original story and themes are now…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They censored the game awhile ago i always wondered why the vr version felt off literally just pirate this game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an alright game but the retarded developers voluntarily censored the entire story out of their own game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Superhot VR. Ok , this game is great!...kind of. The combat, the visuals, but somthing that ticks me off is the difficulty and the unfair progression. You have to go around dodging if a red NPC is holding a saw-off shotgun OR YOU ARE DEAD. and if you fail at the last second you start from square one. There should be checkpoints for EACH ROOM if you are going to make a game that difficult. Overall, this game is not for me. or i should just git gud lol
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →eh, its okayish, not that great. find it funny that the devs released a update so stupid they never made another game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Time only moves when you do, which sounds cool until you realize your brain is not built for this level of multitasking. You’re basically dodging bullets in slow motion while trying not to punch your own monitor. Every level feels like a stylish puzzle mixed with an action movie scene you absolutely did not rehearse for. It’s clean, simple, addictive, and somehow makes you feel both like a genius and an idiot at the same time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →devs ruined the story cuz they wanna be a bunch of whiny ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I guess
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its short, not updated often, and the developers completely tore all the good story elements out of the game with the most recent update. Fun concept, but the developerss ruined it. I played this game a while back on another system and it was a lot better but it has deteriorated and there have been a glaring lack of updates since 2022.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game was great years ago when i used a vive. Today it took me hours to find the correct version that would detect index controllers (some 2019 version). and then i had to create manual bindings. Just be aware you may spend as much time debugging it as you will playing it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommendation: 90% One of my best VR experiences. A great mix of fast-paced action and strategy. I’ve heard the non-VR version has a story, while this one doesn’t, and that some content was cut from the VR version. Even so, the game is still excellent. Has some issues, like no joystick movement — you can only move using your real space, which might be difficult if you have a small play area, but overall a great experience. Easy to recommend
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →10/10. Ignore review bombs. This game is amazing. I have only played the game after the story stuff was removed, and I have not been bothered by it at all. Despite whatever I'm missing out on, this is still my favourite VR game by far, and the bad reviews reflect political opinions, not the quality of the game. Each session will leave you feeling a little bit like you were just in the matrix. Very highly recommended!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is fun, but they decided to self-censor by removing the entire story for no good reason.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just found out they removed scenes from the game, which feels like a mistake with how much impact they had on me when I played through the game. I am not a fan of virtue signaling historical revisionism. We all know the scenes were in the game and that they were intended to be a part of the story. You aren't a better person now that you deleted them from the game. You just devalued a product I purchased to feel better about yourself.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game, but if it's your first time playing you should downgrade the game to before they removed many important scenes from the story. Tutorial: "hit the windows+R keys type "steam://open/console" into the run box The secret steam console will launch type "download_depot 617830 617831 1718632565497690274" into steams console and wait for the game to download (NOTE: download wont appear in downloads tab wait for the console to tell you its done) since this isnt installed in the…
