I've had this game since 2017, and back then, I remember making a few attempts at the first level and thinking "I'm never gotta beat this thing". Well, flash forward to December 2025, and as I'm looking into my library for games with card drops remaining, my eyes fall upon this game. Rather than simply idling for the cards, I decide to give it another shot, at least to distract myself for a bit. Big mistake. I ended up getting the achievement for beating the first level, having finally reached…

This captcha from 2090 will burn your visual cortex down and might cause a minor case of severe brain damage in some people. Epilepsy tells horror stories around the campfire about this game. If you beat all the levels (60 seconds each), you unlock your third eye, sharingan and the parking spot for the disabled. TIP: just turn off the sound and lock in. I'm on the last level and my vision is starting to look like how cocaine smells. 10/10

It took me 41 hours to beat the game. 41 hours across just six stages. Each stage is a 60-second survival test. If we assume my average attempt lasted 30 seconds, and I spent — whatever — 5% of the time on loading screens and menus, then I spent, on average, 23,370 seconds (6 hours and 29 minutes) on each stage. That’s 779 attempts per stage. That’s it. 41 hours moving the cursor through repetitive paths in only six stages. I’m a guy pushing middle age, single, no kids. I could have spent my…

Super Hexagon is a striking example of how a video game can achieve extraordinary impact through simplicity, precision, and relentless intensity. Developed and published by Terry Cavanagh and released on Steam in 2012, the game stands as one of the most recognizable minimalist arcade experiences in modern indie gaming. At first glance, the game appears deceptively simple: a small triangular cursor rotates around a central polygon while geometric walls rush inward from all sides. Yet this…

Utterly timeless, I've been playing it since release and I keep on coming back to it a couple of times a year. Just thinking about the game's design makes me feel happy. If you're playing on controller, I recommend mapping the buttons so that one thumb turns left and the other turns right. It feels very natural, and will also carry over your muscle memory if you play on mobile. I've got "left" on left D-pad and "right" on the B button.

Super Hexagon is a timeless classic. It's a simple but complete package that appears difficult on the surface but is mostly a game of pattern recognition and muscle memory. The difficulty curve is very gentle, the 6 levels are well designed, and in the end you will be surprised at just how much skill you gained to beat the game. I only put in enough time to get past 60 seconds on the first two levels, and perhaps it would’ve clicked with additional play time, but as it stands, I don’t find myself wanting to sink any more energy into this one.
