60 of 78 · most liked firstA lot of reviewers have rightfully dinged the game not running under Win 10 x64. If the game is going to be marketed to an audience with modern computers, it should be able to run without excuses about it being old. My problems were resolved by opening the Add/Remove Programs applet, selecting Windows Features, and enabling Legacy Components / Direct Play. Sudden Strike’s biggest problem is that it is an old game with old game problems. Path finding is horrible, with units often taking the long…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the type of game that requires a lot of attention on your part. You command literaly thousands of troops and equipment to accomplish your objectives. These could be any one of seceral battles in the Eurpoean theater to the invasion of Iwo Jima to its defense as the entrenched Japanese Army. Be forewarned that this is not a 'get in and win the battle in thiry minutes' type game. For instance, in landing on Iwo Jima there are two objectives. Take two seperate Japanese command posts on…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The scale of the battles and intense firefights make it a marked improvement over the first two titles. However, as with the predecessors due to control problems and pathfinding issues, controlling the units in Sudden Strike 3 is a nightmare; and the 3D didn't age well when the pixel art from the other two games is still nice to look at. Just play them, this one is not worth it. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1165411424…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great, so happy to get this "alltime-best-ww2-strategic"-game on steam. No problem on Win10. The problem seems to be solved. Load and install the Batus-Mod 2.3 and you will have one of the best ww2-games
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →AWSOME BALLS!!! it has finally returned bin waiting for these games on steam since made an account!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My Personal Game Score: 8 / 10 + Good game mechanics + Good game design + Good music and sounds + Nostalgic game + Addicting - Buggy sometimes - Annoying enemies from the tunnels at Iwo Jima Invasion. They just pop up on great numbers and strong units. - Sometimes the A.I. of the game is clunky or not going to the exact place you want them to be. Note: For those who are playing this game on Windows 10, make sure to activate "Direct Play" on your PC's settings before opening the game. It…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Meh. Bought it for six bucks, got six hours of play, so eh. Its WWII, its RTS without any control which units you recieve, how many, when, from where. Oh, reinforcements have arived? Where are they? What are they? Let me scan the entire battlefield for units that might be mine, that I havent seen on the battlefield yet. Pretty terrible GUI, or lack thereof - has a few useful screens, but mostly you control the battle by mouse-boxing over the map to see which units you control. Looks…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Heck, I love this game. Bored shooting enemies easily? Bored winning game with no difficult? If so, this game is right for you. SS3 is very hardcore. You have to control huge number of units in a very vast area with many fronts. You will be depressed seing your units being crushed by enemy tanks and your tanks can't do anything because you're outnumbered and lack reinforcement. Very hardcore strategy game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Been a long time fan of the series, received for free with my pre-order or SS4. Somehow SS3 keeps the feel of the older generation SS games but is more up to date. I like these old sudden strikes because they are challanging and interesting, I think the challange and strategy involved in the sudden strike series is why it's remained a more enjoyable WW2 rts than its competitiors. The graphics are a little dated, is the only down side. Other than that I have no real complaints about any of the…

Let me elaborate: While you still control basically all those war tanks and howitzers and stuff, you can now zoom way out of the battlefield... I'd go as far as to actually dub this game the 4X Strategy Game of the Sudden Strike line of gaming? Lmfao Sudden Strike 3 sadly is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wasted money and wasted time. That would be my Review for Sudden Strike 3. I played Suddenstrike 1 & 2 years ago and was searching for old games, that can be played on Notebook. So I decided to buy this game but after I've hit the first mission I was so disappointed. First of all I've salvaged some tanks, that worked perfectly but the soldiers are so f***** slow. After I enlarged my army by 3 tanks, it was time to kill some enemys and get the objectives done... so far so good but here are the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Although the screen shots make it look like you're preforming sweeping Blitzkrieg Tactics, normal play is slow and tedious. Scouting, sniping, and arty skills are required to have a high scoring game. Methodical slow step by step advances are what works. You rush, you die. Batus Mod is a must. Google it. Easy self-installer. Things I didn't like 1- Can't change the hotkeys, especially the scroll and pause. Game has screen edge scrolling. 2- Same AI as SS1+2, however, more detailed maps…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →omg, i cant believe i almost never bought this game with all the bad reviews, works perfectly on windows10 with an nvidia 1920x1080 resolution. is like a real war going on in this one, unlike the avarege sudden strike 4 you cant just group all your troops together and throw them at the enemy for victory, you gotta plan your attack. all the bad reviews must be coming from console players which this game is not ment for, if your a console player sudden strike 4 will be better suited for you, i…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first two Sudden Strike games are fantastic and I can't recommend them enough - but this one isn't. It's slow, clunky and ugly (I know that the game is from 2007 but Soldiers: Heroes of World War II was released in 2004 - which looks better and plays better) and isn't worth your money. If you want a 3D WWII RTS, buy Men Of War Assault Squad 2, or even the much older and cheaper Men Of War, which both do everything this tries to do much much better.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a most realistic WWII real-time combat representation I've seen so far, equivalent to Blitzkrieg, Men of War, Division 44 now I suppose but I haven't played the last one yet so can't really say. One thing it falls short to its closest competitors like BK and MoW is the pathfinding and following orders.Units are entirely unresponsive at times and moving in completely the opposite way you want them to. This results in every little soldier having to be micromanaged. It ruins the experience…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sadly these games have got prettier to look at as they have gone on but actual game play has fallen with each new game. The original was fun, quick to learn the basics and I have spent hundreds if not thousands of hours on that game both single player and multiplayer and loved it, this one has just not got that magic game play of the original. If better graphics and sounds is your thing try this but for a more enjoyable game try the original it knocks spots off this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best RTS out there, and also inexplicably one of the most underrated. Huge maps, where roofing given by houses, forests and even straw are fundamental, as well as the height and the hills, in a system of I see and do not see unique. Fuel and ammunition to always keep an eye on. Nothing to do with the "Strategy" Arcades coming out today, SS4 above all. Here a serious mission, on a 4x4 map, takes you 50-70 hours of gameplay. By now I have passed the thousand hours of play (don't mind…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For me, as an SS fan, the game is challenging. But that doesn't mean you can't complete the missions. Its possible only time consuming. Usually you have to save many times to complete just one mission. Every missions give you a hell of a lot units to play with. But mind this, the amount of reinforcement are limited. So you must think idealy or strategically in order to win. Resources are also limited. Basically, you need to properly plan your moves against the Ai carefully. I mean seriously,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Brilliant, re living my childhood with this game, truly an epic RTS game with a huge scale. shows its age nowadays but is still a ton of fun to play and a great throwback, and works fine on my computer with windows 10 so dont know why people are having issues. Highly recommended!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So I have 3.2 quad core i5 16gb ram 1.7gb integrated 4400 intel graphics card and this game plays ok not that smooth but man is it fun as hell. i love the first 2 and this ones great im overwhelmed by the units to many
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Terrible I don't like it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →GREAT, classic rts, (in tactics, realism and depth) way beyond new games like Steel Division: Normandy 44! And for this price unbeatable on the WWII-rts sector. Buy it, play it, and before you recognize how long you've played, Sudden Strike 4 will be already released... xD 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's one of those classic WWII RTS games, that keep you coming back to rain some arty on your enemies

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sudden Strike 3, from 2007, is another in a series of military RTS games where you don't build any bases or worry about resource management, just move your armies around and kill the baddies. While this installment has 4K support, that's about it in terms of modern PCs. The game is at least playable, but scaling wasn't done right, so text and units appear impossibly tiny, resulting in a frustrating game experience. This is amplified by issues that plagued the game even when it was new.…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excuse me, but what is the edition of this release? Patch 1.4?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sudden strike 1 was one of my first games i ever played and the 3rd one is a awesome rts game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sudden Strike 3 is an ambitious evolution of the classic tactical RTS formula that defined the earlier entries in the series. Developed by Fireglow and published by Kalypso Media Digital, the game represents a major turning point for the franchise by moving from 2D isometric battlefields into fully 3D environments, while still preserving the series’ defining focus on realism, large-scale engagements, and pure battlefield command without traditional base building or resource management. Set…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This Game took hearth away If somone wanna play this with me like 1v1 just add me on discord its vlako_15 :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not even better than the previous two titles. Poor 3D graphics. Even if I only compare it with other games of the same period, it still looks pretty outdated. Another thing that's ruining the game experience is its horrible unit control. Particularly that stupid AI movement option, which is left ON by default all the time, will send your unit everywhere like headless flies and let them die for no real good, or put your unit in buildings and make it take years before you can find the unit that…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, This is game of my childhood, i wish developers tak care about this master piece, but nah everything wh have now is game with disc editor , and buged AI , i wish i had the chance for map editor comeback, i hope somebody will see this and actualy do something about it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →love it, AI is so much more better then all the sudden strike game and is in 3d but, still needs the zeppelin mode in multiplayer. If i have to pick any of the sudden strike series to play it will be ss3, ss2, and ss1. sudden strike 4, not going to say anything bad about it but my thought where "meh" but playable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game. contains lots of maps and machineries including tanks, artilleries and trucks. Nevertheless, it hyper tense due to the difficulty set in.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I must admit that this is the worst sudden strike for me However Without this we wouldnt have sudden strike 4 and for that it has my thumbs up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →yes i do but they need to give us the map editor insted of the desc editor i cant get it from no where
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Horrible AI, Bad unit pathing, cant deselect units easily.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The units are much more detailed than in most rts's. Penetration and individual vehicle component damage is represented allowing for more tactical gameplay. Lots of units with various abilities.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You can control like a thousand units at a time in this game. Good Tactical RTS and a worthy successor
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →GOOD GAME PLAY GOOD GRAPICS, AUTHENTIC EQUIPMENT. WHAT IS NOT GOOD IS THE AI OF YOUR OWN UNITS.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →force close for no reason
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great game, ai lags a bit when too many units.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great pace and lost of strategy. Love it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →they made the gameplay worse so they could make it 3d. this is like removing the seasoning off of my chicken wings so you can drop it on the floor
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While not a perfect game (pathfinding may be the biggest weakness), Sudden Strike 3 works best when the battles are intense and filled with huge numbers of units. Sudden Strike 3 was one of the last true strategy/tactical games that removed all limits the numbers of units and the extent of the destruction to the battlefield to create diabolical and limitless battles. It is a game where your statistics will tell you that you killed 10,000 enemy troops by the time the battle ends, and few games…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great game in original form - steam version is buggy and temperamental. 0 stars
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Old school warfare with plenty to keep the player occupied.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the most annoying attribute of this version is the vehicles distancing from other vehicles, making it difficult to park close to another, park uniformly, having supply trucks wasting fuel looking for an opening to re-supply is especially frustrating. what happened? from the 1st version where all vehicles would even piggy back others and even themselves out, pretty much...please fix this issue. thank you...on another note, i love this game :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I must say that this game worked without any issues on my Win10. Also it has good resolution support. But everything else is just not good and downright frustrating. Let me explain. The game starts with a solid menu screen and once you pick single player you can choose a custom scenario or the campaign. The campaign offers multiple scenarios so I decide to go with the first one, which is the Normandy landing, hoping for it to play out as a tutorial of some sort. But no, the game gives you no…
