I wall myself off and build a communist utopia where everyone gets double rations and alcohol while they pay extra cruel taxes. After like 100 in-game years I just spam trebuchets and horse-mounted knights until I win. 10/10, would kill 3 Lancelots again.

I beg you I beg you to optimize to current PC setups so this game will run on newer rigs. Remaster and do what you do! There just isn't anything I can find like this in the Steam inventory- at least not that I can see. There are some that are similar, but usually the learning curve is steep. Did I say I love this game?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, used to play it everyday when i was younger. Brings me nostalgia. I do remember when I finished King's Arthur Story and saw the ending back then I got so sad I avoided people for 3 days.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →THIS GAME OLD BUT GOLD I STILL PLAY THIS GAME IN 2026 AND I HOPE FIREFLY STUDIOS MAKE DEFINITIVE EDITION VERSION FOR THIS GAME OR MAKE STRONGHOLD LEGENDS 2 PLEASEE🥺
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game to the series but its probably my least favorite. If your into the fantasy creatures then this one is for you
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An absolutely nostalgic experience. One of my favourite games growing up, spent countless hours playing this absolute gem on the family PC over a decade ago, and it's beautiful to still be able to play it every now and then now here on Steam. Forever one of my favourite games of all time!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the best game so far , we just need a definitive edition since we are in 2025 :)

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a fan of the Stronghold series, you can't help but play this game. Overall, it's a fun game, although I personally still prefer Crusader. I give it a 9/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a solid game. I have been playing it since 2008 and have never got bored of it. That being said I definitely recommend either getting this as a gift or through a discount. The three campaigns feature King Arthur, Dietrich von Bern, and Vlad the Impaler with distinct playstyles for each. Arthur's more traditional and having a good balance of defense and offense, Dietrich's more defensive, and Vlad's more offensive. This is definitely different from the usual Strongholds focusing much…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very, very nostalgic title for myself and many others. I still have the original box-set and game discs for Stronghold Legends. As a younger child, I would travel with game manuals, poring over all the info and pictures of troops/units/etc within. Age of Empires III + Stronghold Legends were my favorite manuals to read, haha. Anyways. This steam version is fantastic, bringing the game a stable place to be accessed/played, adding in some achievements to get, and of course, all the content…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fire Fly studios has always had a special place in my heart, but at the release of Stronghold Legends I knew we were meant to be! SL was first introduced to me through Disc. It was a double pack, one disc for the download the other for play. I'll never forget the feeling of taking down a Frost Giant then killing off the Ice Queen... Thank you steam for bringing my childhood back to life again and again!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Stronghold Legends is a captivating real-time strategy game developed by Firefly Studios that takes the beloved castle-building and siege warfare mechanics of the Stronghold series and enriches them with a fascinating twist—incorporating legendary creatures, heroes, and mythical elements into the traditional medieval setting. This combination of historical fortress management with fantasy themes offers a unique and engaging gameplay experience that appeals to fans of both strategy and fantasy…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best stronghold ever!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Basically, for stronghold fans - its just like stronghold 2, but lotsa new units and buildings. i really really really hate the game, so gosh darn imbalanced... When i attack, the enemy detects me within miles away from their walls but when i attack them, my troops just loiter around and swing their swords like farmers, gosh friggin darn!!! Specifically bats. i just sent like 6 of them and all they had was a few archers and at least 2 dargon harpoons and got them easily AND THEY WERE…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Stronghold Legends: Steam Edition Stronghold Legends is the weakest Stronghold game out of the series. It takes the Stronghold formula and tries to put a mythological (legendary) twist to it which you do not really get to see fully until very late in the game. In the first single-player campaign you do not get access to any of these new units and the campaign becomes quite tedious and mediocre after a few missions. I really tried to like it, but I just could not get into it, unlike all of the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The fourth entry in the Stronghold Series, Legends dabbles in a fresh fantasy aesthetic by adding a roster of new units and heroes with unique abilities. The classic Stronghold gameplay is certainly still there, but the clunky camera and unit controls, the dated and frustratingly sparse UI, the extremely lopsided unit balance and the teeth-pullingly difficult campaign are blemishes that prevent this game from attaining the classic status of its vaunted predecessors -- as a result, its…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game brings back so many memories for me, from the days I got beaten for playing it secretly, to the sad days I had and the hours I spent on it. Anyway... 10/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →best strategy game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good old days...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Once, a nostalgic classic, has been rendered to nothing more than a slideshow. The game recently shows extreme fps drops (5fps) regardless of hardware/settings, mostly due to the game requiring software from a long time ago and the devs not optimizing the game. I really wanted to re-experience the nostalgia of the game, but as soon as thing started to get to mid-game, the previously manageable lag issues ramped up. If I can't get through mid-game, then the game is broken. Can't recommend a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Similar to Stronghold 2, this edition also carries over all your progress from the original PC release. And just like Stronghold 2, this game is nostalgic for me and an absolute masterpiece. Unlike Stronghold 2, however, this entry leans far more into RTS action than castle simulation-and that’s perfectly fine! It serves as a great alternative to S2, with streamlined building mechanics, fun new units, and a constant flow of action. It’s not the most balanced game, though! Steam Workshop…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My Childhood game, first time playing it almost 15 years ago. A classic that still holds up today.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good lore with european myth (king arthur, vlad dracul, etc...), not the best stronghold to have the best castle or Ai battle, but its simple for having fun. Graphic can be special at first. Its a games for fan, when i was a kid back then in the 2000s, my father bought me this game, so i bought back on steam later when i was adult, like more than half of the player of this games. Thats why i said its in first a fan games, cause its not the best, not the deepest, not the complete stronghold u…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Couldn't even play it. So sick and tired of old school games not working properly on modern PCs. You can't change monitors with Fullscreen enabled, and with Fullscreen disabled the game forces your view to move to the right constantly. Pressing Alt-Enter to enter Fullscreen mode forces it back to the other monitor and crashes the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →absolute OG banger game, no lags or bugs that i noticed, the troops behave weird sometimes tho. still great game and recommendation to everyone thinking to buy it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →CANT PUT THAT THERE M'LORD
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't really like this version of this game. I liked playing medieval warefare, and they ruined it with magical powers and creatures. I can build up the best possible army and defensives, and constantly struggle with magical crap that can simply get around any of it and burn everything.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Remembering this blast from the past. The time when Stronghold wanted so bad to be "Battle for Middle-Earth". Wanted so bad that focused too much on being a more streamlined type of RTS and forgot it's essence, that being a castle sim. Castle life is completely gone on this one. No more sheep because there's no more cloth for the Lady's dresses, because there's no more balls (dancewise) nor Lady. The boy pages that assisted her are also gone, as is that lady cook that they too helped, because…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game lacks some content. And quality of life features. Also its buggy! Espicially the Map Editor which I had the most fun with... But the 3 factions and the campaign are so fricking awsome. The simple basebuilding and the focus on units makes the game more fast paste (But they could have added more defensive stuff). The campaign is incredible difficult but fun and the 3 factions add alot of variety and actual tactics. The Map/Mission Editor is really fun and simple. But buggy and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an old game, its tough, it doesn't have a lot of the niceties of modern games. People who review it so well are reviewing what they remember, I'm sure I'd do the same same for Dune 2, but it isn't perfect. I have given up after a few hours, maybe I'll give it another go, but I felt like I was micromanaging too much.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As good as I remember. Id love to have a new entry with things from both Stronghold 2 and Legends.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Steam Workshop integration. Keys are not re-bindable in the games UI, but the old arrow keys to scroll the view have been replaced with much more civilized WASD, & the controls generally are quite nice. This is a very solid game.
