60 of 192 · most liked firstI have to say right away - it is a conditional recommendation. Because I had a lot of fun with most aspects of the game - I can't really not recommend Stranded Sails. And if you don't demand to much from it - this is a good way to spend 8-10 hours. But for many people it will be boring or frustrating, or both. And for completionists - no matter if you are going after achievements or in-game collections - be ready for a long grinding and maybe even rage-quitting. Really - if Steam had a neutral…

The energy drain is extremely fast and you barely will get to do anything before it's out. Sure you can "conserve it"... But then you will walk slow af and will fall asleep before you find what you are looking for. You can also eat food... But you gotta not only find the seeds first... You gotta grow it... The more vegetables you got? The more energy waste you will have. So water…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel bad but I can't recommend this. Sadly, I bought it based on the demo, but I'm not enjoying the actual game. I really enjoyed the demo and completed it. It felt faster and gave me more freedom to explore & make my own choices. I thought it was charming and fun, and showed a solid premise. But now that I'm in the actual game, it's slow and linear. There's a lot of character dialogue, then they ask you to go fetch some items, which are not hard to find, because they kind of just appear…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’m actually a bit hesitant to really recommend Stranded Sails for everyone, because there were just too many obvious flaws and annoyances over my playtime. I mean, the overall premise is a kind of evergreen, a classic sim mix of farming, fishing, exploring and crafting. But in this case, I don’t know, how it all worked together, it really was a letdown for me all in all. There were just so many repetitious, grindy and clunky parts that were extremely counterproductive to any relaxing…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played for 11 hours and beat the game. There just didnt seem like alot to it. I'm glad I got this game on sale because there was not enough story and plot and side things to do.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Felt like a cheap mobile game. You cant chose were to place building, everything is preset. And the energy system is annoying, barely had enough energy to do anything in a day. Was honestly surprised with the lack of features.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This could have been a really good game. Instead, it's a stark lesson on "It is better to have a small number of well-made features rather than a large number of mediocre ones." I found the game shallow and repetitive. There's so many things to do: crafting, building, farming, cooking, fishing, sailing, fighting, collecting, exploring, quests, dungeons, NPC happiness, energy management... but they all feel incomplete and disconnected. There is a huge island chain with tons of fishing spots,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When you start enjoying the game the game ends, You don't need to be close to the crew, you don't need to be full upgrade The game just ends like that making you feel like you didn't really finish the game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →~ I recommend reading some other reviews as they explain it way better than I could ~ Overall it was a cute game, and if I could I would've rated it neutral. It wasn't so bad as I'm still stirring (no pun intended) towards positive, but the things people have pointed out are 100% spot on. I'll still list the things that annoyed me though. - Walking/running/the whole stamina thing was really really annoying. Not being able to travel around much because your stamina is 0 and you've ran out of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Clean controls, crisp graphics, easy to play. I did play to the end, but realized soon the whole thing was pretty lifeless and boring, despite being well put together. Combat is tedious and there's really nothing to care about in the characters or story.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While a moderately fun addition to the exploration genre, there's a significant balance issue - should I call it a timing issue? In any game with limited energy, the ability to find areas of interest and the need to return to them later is a major part of the appeal; it's the thing that keeps you coming back to the game day after day, to solve the mystery you couldn't get to yesterday. However, in this game those interesting mysteries change every time you visit, making it more frustrating…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →so far only played for an hour or so, it's too slow for my taste, walking is too damn slow while running use too much energy, i ended up had to sleep for 4 days just to finish one quest. everything you do use energy, early food hardly give any energy. regarding the energy usage feels unbalanced to me. exploring one side of the island used almost all of my energy, so i think its mostly waste of time. well recommended for someone who wants chill game, but too chill and slow, really make stuff…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game never gets really good. I was somewhat motivated in the beginning, but every aspect of it feels so mediocre. The gameplay boils down to: search beach for loot - water plants - cook something - "talk" to people. repeat. It feels unsatisfying. Also, there doesn't seem to be any deep gameplay or story. The game seems to be aimed at a younger audience, too. I don't know, some game just do it better. This is more a 5/10.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It does feel like a mobile game. It does feel like a kid's game. In my late 20s, I'm very bored with this game. It doesn't show you where to go ('exlore the south region', 'explore the east south'). Do I look like a compass to you? You can see a location, but don't know how to get there? Too bad if you can't figure out a path there by yourself—whether the game wants you there or not. Plus, you never know what kind of material you'll get, which is very inconvenient and inconsistent. The walking…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I couldn't.... Half an hour. I mean it's cute and endeering and wel made I guess, but it's a game for 5 year olds. There is nothing you can decide for yourself, everything is incredibly linear. You explore an island, find nothing, literally nothing except a progress block where you need some tools for. You get a quest, find A, B, C. Suddenly all three items are on the beach, before that nothing, same with NPC's and all quests are like that. You can't interact with anything, find random stuff,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is basically a game for very young children. There's no conflict, or consequences. There's not even really choices to make or any aspect that requires (or rewards) strategy. You cannot lose. You cannot miss out. You cannot even choose where to build things. You just do what the game tells you because it's the only thing you can do and it is impossible to do anything else. I'm all for chill games that go more for vibes than gameplay, and I actually kind of enjoy this game because it's so…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like both pirates and farming life sims but this is too slow and too clunky to recommend. also when you quit the game there is always a prompt to wish list their next game. every time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An hour in and this overtutorialised Facebook game has not let go of my hand for long enough to let me have an independent thought. How overtutorialised? There's a tutorial that explains that you might have a recipe that you don't have all the ingredients for and will have to go find them in the world. I get that it's billed as family friendly, but I feel like the concept of not having something and needing to go find it should be right up there with object permanence in human development.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an unenthusiastic recommended from me. I paid about three bucks for this game on sale and I cannot imagine paying anything more. The normal price is insane and completely ridiculous to charge for a game of this quality. Asking for 1/4 of the full price would still be pushing it, despite the amount of work the devs put into it- most everything is repetition, which is expected with these sort of games, but there are more issues than just that. I'm going to criticize this game in my…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game felt dragging. running depletes stamina really quickly and it doesn't replenish. it only refills when you sleep which forwards the time. quests involve a lot of picking something up from the other side of the island and you can guess how many trips you'd need because you're gonna need to sleep and refill the stamina bar. resources are scarce. feels like a running sim more than it is a farming sim. save your money. skip buying this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm a big fan of "chill" games. They really help me unwind. After giving this game 3 hours, I found it was really stretched out. It took SO long to accomplish anything. You run out of "energy" quickly and have to guess and test recipes blindly after spending several in game days trying to grow vegetables. There's a "heart" reward system for the community soup mini-game that makes no sense and over all just boring. Save your money, play a different chill game. If I wanted to game to "go to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I can't find anything technically wrong with the game and the graphics, while simplistic, look good as well. There does seem to just be something missing in the gameplay. It feels just very boring to play and I honestly struggle to enjoy it. It is just missing the kind of charm that most of these types of games have and therefore I cannot recommend it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wasn't able to get into this. The controls felt wonky and I could not stand how slow your character moves. It was distracting enough that even though I like the exploration and base gameplay, it made everything mucky and not fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Stranded Sails - Explorers of the Cursed Islands" is a low poly Nintendo Switch game that's basically a weak ripoff of Stardew Valley but with pirates and a whole bunch of "borrowed" Synty assets, making this a hair shy of being an asset flip, if there wasn't a modest amount of non-Synty assets also populating the game. But ultimately this isn't far off what you might expect from an asset flip, there's a bit more content than asset flips normally have. That's not to say it's good content.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think I liked this game? I beat the main quest in 5 hours, it was easy. I didn't feel challenged, I didn't really have fun, I thought that this was a bad game. BUT then I started achievement hunting, and that's where my opinion of this game shifted. There's actually a lot to do. You can gain some really neat buffs by decorating the homes of the villagers, and they all have different preferences and you get more points if you choose furniture within those preferences. You need materials to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →4/10 glorified mobile game with the mobile game unlock system at the end of the game you need to get 3 gold statues each with its own quest 1st one unlocks a thing that lets you get the 2nd and 3rd finished the 1st quest finished the 2nd quest, but before turning it in i went to get the 3rd gold statue as well. put 2 and 3 on the place they were needed. now my entire game is borked because i put it on the place it was needed before the quest started. the game just sends me back to get the 3rd…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little game, understands the scope of its design. Has some fighting, some farming, a lot of exploring. Some of the mechanics are tedious, but it's a farming game, so you're up for that, right? Be sure to upgrade your friends houses earlier rather than later: their upgrades make the game a lot more accessible and fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →souless game made for not for kids nor adults trash combat, map, exploring, linear progress, cooking minigamie, ui, quests, repetativness and whole gameplay
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Stranded Sails is a cute game. Other than getting stuck on a rock or floating off the pyramid there are very few bugs. I wish the recipe game was a bit less MasterMind and a bit more interesting, but with a guide it was easy enough to get that achievement. I didn't actually do much fishing, I mostly won my more rare fish from the battles. I tried to fish the rarest fish but didn't manage to collect a single one, just passing out from exhaustion. It's all very linear and "fetch questy", but…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I paid $3 and even that was too much. Its a great concept, marred by long, dull sections of fetching, walking through empty areas, and waiting endlessly for respawns. It plays like a cheap mobile game meant to waste time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A simple but competent game, but not worth full price. Only get it if heavily discounted. The gameplay loop is very simple: explore the islands, reach a blocking point, solve a story quest that unlocks a tool to progress, explore some more. Interspersed into this loop there's some very simple base management where you can unlock tools and system to be better at the base management itself. The only link between the main systems is that you can farm resources to produce food to make exploration…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As soon as I saw the trailer for this game, I was immediately hooked. I love games that are quest heavy and basically hand hold you to the end. Unfortunately, the game ends as soon as you really feel that it begins. You aren't able to actually truly explore all of the islands until you reach the end of the game and get the climbing rope kit, and I also didn't think about grinding out the stew rewards because I was more interested in exploring, and farming, I would have had nicer shortcuts if…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have two reasons for my bad review. 1. it seams that the tile streaming is not optimized. Continously i have lagging game, when my character moves around 2. world game design is not that great. - too much of repetive running around (for instance, finding the cooking stuff, and then have to "explore" the same region again searching for other survivors. - there are no shortcuts. you have to run the same longway back and forth. for instance the campsite is on a small hill, but you only…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's fine, something to do. Very family friendly, violence kept to a minimum and kinda funny. Main emphasis is exploration and treasure hunting for collectibles. Farming and base building is bare bones, no economy mechanics other than getting resources to build buildings and furniture/decorations and gifting stuff. No romance. Music, graphics, sound design, quest design, dialogue, story, all acceptable but nothing that stands out or very memorable. No time limits, lots of things respawn so…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →about 70 min in and its definitely not what i would call open world. Very small map and you can only build in preset places. 2.99 is fair for a mobile game for your PC glad i got it on sale. Will not be replacing my other farmin sims but ill probably play it for a little longer
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Art: Cute almost-but-not-quite low-poly feel. Music: Can get a little repetitive, but fairly relaxing! Story: Very surface level story about trying to get off an island in the middle of nowhere. You won’t get very attached to the characters or be moved at all, but it’s nice to have a main story to follow for quest purposes. Length: I’m about 11 or 12 hours in and believe I still have a chunk to go. I haven’t explored any of the islands fully and can’t even go to the final one yet. I do feel…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Stranded Sails is an indie farming/adventure style sim in which you'll do a bit of everything in a sandbox. This ranges from farming, fighting, crafting, harvesting, gift giving and others. It doesn't push the boundaries and thus doesn't really stand out from the crowd. Positives: - Nails the pirate aesthetic with it's unique indie style - Relatively bug free outside getting stuck in things every now then - A fair few simple mini-games - It's nice seeing the farm and base you've build after…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great farming-relationship game where you won't be attacked by monsters when you are not ready for it. Monsters will only spawn, when you spawn them. This makes for a very relaxing game. Can easily be played and put away, perfect for playing on the go. Sadly the interiors of the houses you will be creating are most likely gonna be very chaotic, if you want all perks. Recommended? Yes ✅️ No Story Amazing Great Good ✅️ Poor Bad Not much of a story really Graphics Realistic Great Good Decent…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a love-hate relationship as is the case with most of us and our games. Stranded Sails--even if it popped in your store feed because you LOVED Stardew Valley--is a linear, story-driven title beckoning you to explore islands. You can run around and complete the quests given in order to advance further into the story. Simple? Yes. Frustrating? Oh, I'm glad you asked. It is frustrating You start by doing some of the most mundane tasks for your father as he readies a ship to sail. This…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are like me and like to complete quests, collect everything, and finish all the achievements, this is for you. It's a fun and cozy game that is not hard or wastes your time with too grindy mechanics ( Pyramid challenge is the worst part of the game!).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It serves well enough as a casual game. However it really overestimates its level of keeping player interest though! One character you interact with to become closer to them, you need to go through waves of combat, many, MANY waves of combat as far as i understand. Obviously you don't have to, its literally an optional part of the game that by the time you get to this point you're told you can leave already. The thing of it is i suspect itll just be the same 3-4 types of pirate enemies, with…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game for the discounted price (Approx $3). Other players compared this to Stardew Valley, I feel like that's a poor comp. The buildings, story/relationship progression are very linear. With that said, the graphics music and game play is great. Actually enjoyed the fishing game. Low difficulty knocked out 100% completion in 29 hours playing casually.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't really like the stamina system, seems to run out really quickly from just sprinting. Also, when trying to exit the game I have to look at a giant ad for their next game, no thanks
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Part of the quest line is glitched, at least for PC, I looked up the issue and apparently PS5 also has that issue from comments I saw. Makes it impossible to progress...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's more or less 40 hours of playtime to get 100% achievements. Little cooking, building and a lot of searching to get all the buildings and decorations. It was on sale and NO BUGS - Life is but a dream it's like the song - rinse and repeat Row, row, row your boat Gently down the stream Merrily merrily, merrily, merrily Life is but a dream
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite enjoyable casual exploration game, and I think emphasis should be made exactly on exploration. Not farming or colony sim and definitely not an action combat. Farming is very basic and becomes tedious the more stuff your have growing - although there is a watering tool that allows for mass watering (which is very helpful) there is no way to gather a lot of stuff at once, and with farming bonuses when you might have to click on the same plant two or three times, and there is more than 100…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So far it has been a pretty chill game with a decent progression speed. • There's a lot of returning to the same areas over again to access new parts of it and harvest different resources as you unlock better tools. • Just had my first experience with the combat. It's very basic but it's more for lore and story progression and not part of repeated resource harvesting thus far. The enemies I encountered at this point didn't drop items but had to be defeated to progress. • Not sure if it's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a casual chill game with plenty to do. It does have its flaws but overall I quite enjoy it. Even with a positive review I feel like it's best to point out both negatives and positives so people can get a true understanding of whether or not they'll like it so here goes: Yes, I guess it could be classified as Open World like the description says but it doesn't feel like it tbh. It's very linear but I don't mind that in the slightest however if you go in expecting a huge open world game /…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's probably fine for most people but it's too much work for a chill game. You need key shards to transport from here to there. Blah, no thanks. I hate the way the character bobs when they walk. It's nauseating. I wanna love it, but this is probably someone else's thing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →HIDDEN GEM. Excellent game. No bugs or other issues. Get this game if you like easy going crafting games. There are only two cons that I could see. 1. The menu can be accessed two different ways, and one of those ways can be very annoying. You have to play it to understand what I mean. But it's not a game breaker. 2. At the start of the game you have very little stamina and it takes a while to get good enough at cooking and making recipes in order to get buffs to help it. So, I almost…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To begin with I was really positive about this game, I really liked the music and the cute graphics, storywise it also appeared to be good. There are a lot of different things to do, all in your own time; exploring the islands, fishing, tending to your garden, discovering new recipes, cooking, hunting collectibles, improving your camp and the relationship with the crew. I kinda hassled my way through it in the end, hunting those last achievements, lots of unnecessary farming, fortunately you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A nice, relaxing casual game. You're stranded on a desert island, and you must explore the archipelago in order to break a curse that is stopping you from leaving. Gameplay is totally at your own pace and consists of crafting, fishing, cooking, exploring, searching for collectables and fighting ghosts. The gameplay isn't challenging at all and the MSQ isn't very long. The main quest line guides you through your tasks, so you can do them whenever you like without losing track. It has a cute art…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was nervous at first, reading through all the reviews about glitches and playability quality, but, i have no idea what they are talking about. I'm assuming that the game has been polished further. And as a result, :D had a wonderful time. I haven't run into any problems the whole amount of time played. I did rush through it towards the end, but i could definitely see myself going through once more just to try and get all the cosmetics and character relationships up. But that's about it.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Slow, clunky and not enough content - typical of Rokaplay titles. So much potential, doesn't meet expectations.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple yet enjoyable game. Don't care for the only way to maximize villager happiness is just to make them all furniture hoarders with no walking room in their houses. Or that sprinting eats up so much energy even with happiness upgrades and the stew bonus.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got 1 extra Steam Voucher for "Stranded Sails - Explorers of the Cursed Islands" if anyone wanted this game! (I already have it) This code will probably be redeemed quickly, so act fast!
unlabelledView post →I finished this game and had a lot of fun with it! Fantastic art style, nice exploration and impactful upgrades and perks. You don't get overwhelmed with different items and you can take your time. There were three problems I encountered, that didn't break the game but were an annoyance: - I got stuck multiple times exploring. Was able to move down a cliff or boat but not up anymore and had to fast travel back to the starting point. - The fishing minigame is not fun. Fishing the hardest…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A cozy little farming game. I'm not a big fan of farming games in general, even though I love Stardew Valley, I much rather play something more action oriented. Bought this game bundled with Spells & Secrets, and decided to try just for fun. And I was really surprised by how much fun I got during all the time I spent until I 100% the game. What they say on the video, that the game respect your time and don't punish you is true. You can explore the islands as you wish, as long you have energy…
