At one time, this was the best game to ever exist. I will buy this game one day, I will bring back its former glory. I will make Starmade the best game to ever exist once more. Mason

It has simple yet deep systems that build upon each other in the process of building the perfect star station, capitol ship, or mining vessel. These systems drastically change and make you relearn the game each time the temperamental core community votes for a change from the old system every few months. From shield systems you have built into your saved ship blueprints to the mechanics and correct…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access? “StarMade will stay in Early Access until we’ve developed all core features and feel confident in the game’s overall systems. We will also need to go through a rigorous bug testing phase. Our plans are ambitious, as such no definitive date can be made.” This game has hit one decade in EA. Steam really needs to put a limit on how long a game can hide behind this tag. You don't need an EA tag too keep updating your game and if this is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jesus christ I bought this game in highschool and it's still in early access. That's 14 years it's been in Early Access I come back to the game every couple of years and it just no longer hits the mark each time, hoping for improvements. Something I knew is completely different but doesn't feel better or intuitive so I get hesitant having to relearn everything again
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They completely changed and ruined the game and then abandoned it. So sad. You used to be able to let your imagination run wild and the system they had made it so as long as you followed some key baseline rules you could make almost anything you wanted and it was super functional and even PvP viable. After a big update years ago they changed it so you basically had to follow the same cookie cutter plans or your ship was useless and would be blown out of the water every. Time. Basically every…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a lot of fun, but it has a steep learning curve for those unaccustomed to these kind of games. It has been in early access for a long time, but unlike most of the negative reviewers leaving feedback about this game, and saying to go to Avorion, I will give context; which I would consider key information to deciding whether or not you want to purchase or spend time on this game. But before that, some fun facts: 1) Its free to play the full version without consequence 2) Paying is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What they really need to do is add full mod support allow access to basically every file for solo devs to bring this game back.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →He's dead, Jim. The game hasn't had any real progress in half a decade. I had over 100 hours back when it had it's own launcher. Sad to see it abandoned like this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfinished (although not fully abandoned) but I do not expect to live long enough to see the day it will be a semi finshed product. Had great potential once, but other games in the genre, like the excellent Avorion that kept at it have long surpassed this game. As fond as I am of the panicked memories of my first encounter with a wormholes gravity well, and making planetary obliterator weapons, theres just better stuff out there now.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(NOTE: I am in no way affiliated with the game's developers or anyone else mentioned in this guide in any official capacity) My first Steam review...so please forgive me if it seems clunky. StarMade is an open-world sandbox in the style of games such as Minecraft, which allows players to travel the stars in their own custom-made ships, as well as build space stations on both planets and in space itself. I supported the game back in the day, and I still find it has a very low bar of entry for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What was a great game, was ruined by the power system changes and lack of development following it. Now the game is dead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →StarMade Review Overview: StarMade, a voxel-based sandbox game, has the potential to be the "Minecraft of Science Fiction." However, it seems the community has let the developer down by not providing constructive feedback and often disagreeing with the developer's direction. Gameplay and Mechanics: StarMade has faced issues with balance. While not game-breaking, the contradictions in its mechanics have held the game back from its true potential. It appears that the creator might have been…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'd write a review for this one, but no need. It's been abandoned by the devs. It was amazing for it's time but this is one of those Early Access failures. Now, I can change my mind, if the dev's came back with an NPC update, I'd change my whole review.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Abandoned game that showed incredible promise at one point
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Practically abandoned. Shame, the potential was cool
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, after playing this game when it had its own launcher and playing it a bit on Steam, I'll just say this. Play Avorion instead, it's 10x the game Starmade will ever be.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Early Access game dropped after 9 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ years. Valve needs to start setting time limits on these games or issue refunds for ♥♥♥♥ that gets dropped!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I Unfortunately was never able to experience what the game was before the power changes. And I wish I was able to. I bet it would've been super fun but I never got to experience true starmade
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Devs have abandoned this game save for the slow trickle of minor updates. Game is hardly different from when i first played it seven years ago.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Abandoned after being destroyed by the power patch.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Had potential once, but has been abandoned by the devs for years and unfinished. Grab another space sandbox game like empyrion or Avorion that still is supported and updated by the devs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was better to leave abandoned rather than handing over reigns to the community for updates. Things like this lead by a community of people with everyone having an opinion never ends well. Good luck.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Promising... but not delivering. Many of the features are incomplete, even if they are mentioned by the game's user interface. I keep finding out about these the hard way: I try to use some feature, find myself unable to figure out how to use it, search the internet, and find a forum or Reddit post informing me that the feature has yet to be implemented. I got this Early Access game in the autumn of 2015. Since then, developers added logic gates. As far as I can tell, they also reimagined a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: Blocky style with a wonderful block pallet for building ships. you're able to import your own skins you can download and save any ship or turret as a schematic you're able to add schematics to enemy AI factions Cons: Ram dependent most of space is super empty (shocker I know) Due to an update, some schematics will no longer work properly on servers With a lack of meaningful updates, the game is pretty dead. I have been trying to figure out whether I should make this review positive or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL:DR the games such a frustrating mess to get into, I haven't been able to get into it and actually find out what it's about. You'd think after all this time they would have least updated the tutorial. Getting into this is brutishly frustrating, there's no real tutorial, just a vague set of useless videos that don't really explain much of anything and keybinds that don't seem to work right. Alignments that refuse to let you pick orientation without explanation etc. I should never have to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Use to love it, but all the core concepts seem stripped down and butchered now, spent about half hour trying to make the cannons work and they just refuse to work 90% of the time, such a shame
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this was a good game years ago before the power system changed. dose not look like much is happening recently.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There wasn't a lot going on to begin with, but even that was thrown into the blender in some sweeping changes, and then abandoned.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It had so much potential, but was abandoned and the community is trying to update it, but i think ill have grandchildren before any meaningful progress is made.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →RIP Starmade, I loved you.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's dead, get Avorion
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't be fooled by the news or negative reviews, the last patchnotes were from almost two years ago but we're several versions ahead and they've even fixed the game-killing power distance issue. There's still work being done, it's just not being shared. Game is a fun time even still
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's or was a great game back in the day when they was an active community. Unfortunately this game is still "Early Access" the community is not very active and unfortunately the online multiplayer servers are minimal with very few ever having players. Don't get me wrong this game has massive potential if the community was able to be brought back and have active development again.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →initially this looked like abandoned ware, but it looks they are back working on it again with the latest update. so glad too because this game was awesome, very sophisticated crafting and ship and station building. rwally glad they have picked it up again
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game used to be amazing and so fun, but after power 2.0 the game became so much more restrictive and seemed to force players to make smaller and smaller ships. Power 2.0 ruined this game for me and imo, killed the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is unplayable, the devs abandoned the game in a much worse state than after i bought the game, at least back then the enemy factions could attack but now they just stand still and do nothing, broken from all the new logic changes the devs made to the game with their power 2.0 system. but they didn't update their npc or enemy factions with all there changes so there is nothing to do in this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still in early access after 8 years had a lot of potential very sad to see where it has gone in 8 years
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bottom line up front: This a great time to try Starmade as a first time user. I wish it had more attention right now since Schine and the community are grinding on this thing. THE GAME IS BACK IN DEVELOPMENT. Simply put, this is actually a really good game. It hits two main points that would attract sandbox folks to this game and that's very robust creativity and a well designed logic system. This game just has logic blocks that you tie together so even an entry level individual can enjoy the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This.. is why I tend to stay away from early access games now, last time played was nearly 5 years ago. Still waiting.. sadly
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Making ships is a huge hassle, and while i'm aware that's kinda the point, what they did to the power and shielding systems is unforgivable. they were fine and didn't need to be reworked.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dead game. Save your money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →played this in middle school i've graduated college YEARS ago now and this is still early access was fun but pretty complicated
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Installed years ago and simply would not even launch. Support wanted me to do some full in depth diagnostic and troubleshooting so I dumped the game. Try playing today and I need an account to even launch the game, full email TOS signed MMO type ♥♥♥♥. Ya ♥♥♥♥ this nonsense, Avorion is 100x better.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If Starmade was good it would be called Avorion. Get Avorion instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a great game that unfortunately needs a lot of love. In it's prime you'd login to a hustling hub in the middle of space, with factions flying off into the distance to start their empires. Now it's quite desolate, which is such a shame because the game has some amazing qualities. When you're making a ship it can be so dynamic, attaching weapons on other weapons to create totally different firing mechanisms. Landing on planets, then building a base to harness the cores energy to charge…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →God I wish I could revive the fanbade for Starmade. Such a fun game back at its peak. Even just the like random exploration and finding ruined factories still pumping out automated drones is so cool.
unlabelledView post →GUI scale/ font size in menu's cannot be changed, therefor rendering the text on almost every menu completely illegible without pressing my face against the screen. I had a lot of fun with the demo a while ago before I upgraded my setup, but I now have to set up my second monitor with a 3rd party magnifier app if I ever want to read anything in the game (this problem has existed as early as 2015 according to the forums)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had high hopes. Game had potential. But development is slow. Game feels dead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not Dead! Still gets constant small update, people just aren't realizing it. Wonderfully massive game, been in development for ages and I remember playing it well before it came to steam. A great game to truly let your creative mind go wild. Used to love building incredibly massive and complex ships to roam the galaxies with.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Go Play Avorion or Empryion... Game is dead unfortunatly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another game thats now gone with the wind. No dev's glance in quite some time now.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Might not be abandoned but this game is sadly finished.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game has been in "early access" since 2014. That says everything you need to know about it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →still early access all these years later. Shame on steam for allowing these business practices.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is litteraly the same bugs and issues years later. it has huge potential but only if its added upon and improved over time . This game is litteraly the same years later i have alot of game time because i have come back to play it a little bit every now and then over the years wich is why i know its the same
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hard for me to give a happy recommendation when the community gate-keeps information. I should not have to sprawl the internet for five hours looking up three different text-wall tutorials on how to start a server to host for a few friends. I already bought the game I am not buying a server somewhere. I have a computer I should be able to port forward and open the server.bat or whatever. I want to see the developer actually put in some effort and provide this community a CLEAR CONCISE…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still in early access eh? No worries- it's only been just short of a decade. All I see is community updates, were art thou devs?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played this game when all the worlds were flat, when the meta was building your reactor like spaghetti that are entangled in itself, and... sadly, when the playerbase was larger. I would say that only the few loyal ones remain. If you're new to this game, prepare for a world that's very open, but not very forgiving to new players. There would be a lot to learn and some things really seem to be unbalanced, unfinished and have the WIP feel. However, if you just want to build in creative…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Abandoned, website no longer exists, game won't launch
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i remember this game when i was an kid i always want it to play it but i thought it was lost to time but here it is just took me 8 or more years to find because i forgot the name
