Yes, technically you can go around and download all kind of files to make it work correctly eventually, but a player shouldn't have to do all of that to play a game they bought. It crashes and doesn't work upon launch and people are acting like this is ok because you can download a file some random guy created to fix it. Lazy work that shouldn't be rewarded with money. Don't sell something if it doesn't work. Otherwise, Star Wars Racer is an amazing…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just to reiterate the single negative review for this game, gamepads are not supported and don't work even with Steam input remapping. Who wants to play a racing game with a keyboard?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It used to work. Now they fixed it, so it crashes on launch. Great. Thanks.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: ✅ Addictive and enjoyable arcade racing game. ✅ Good variety of tracks and pods to choose from. ✅ You can upgrade your pod throughout the game. ✅ The last tracks provide a decent amount of challenge. ✅ I highly recommend…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a childhood favorite, you will need to place a 3d input dll file in the root folder of the game for windows 11 so not great and needs an update for that reason, but other wise great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If Steam is going to have a game on their store, they need to make sure it actually works. This is pathetic by them.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to be clear: I a a lifelong, diehard Star Wars fan, and Racer is my favorite game of all time. Do. Not. Buy. This. Game. For. Steam. It has a persistent and deeply-rooted crashing problem that is exceptionally difficult to fix, requiring multiple downloads and tweaks.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Experienced on the Meta Quest 3 You can view my VR gameplay & commentary here: https://youtu.be/Lp3JhDTsSlA Yes, you can now play STAR WARS™ Episode I Racer in glorious VR, completely FREE (search for the mod). The mod has stereo rendering with true per-eye projection, head tracking, a world-locked panel for HUD and menus, and full Quest controller support (as a gamepad). I was able to get a steady 72 fps and you can probably get 90 fps on my RTX 5090. The only issue I experienced was having…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I may be one of the few people leaving a review as someone who didn’t play it out of nostalgia, but wow… I had so much fun!! (°ロ°)!! This is a very fast racing game! Like nyooooom≡≡==-- 💨 Fast!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just download it for free from Vimm's. This version requires a file from github to even launch on Win11 and doesn't have native controller support (for the vast majority of people) despite advertising that it does. If you're going to go through all the fixes that you would for a free emulator download, just get the free emulator download.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Typical old PC game. You have to install separate fan-made software to get the game to run and then troubleshoot why your controller won't work despite the game having 'joystick support'. Sucks how consoles got a proper re-release with updated controls and functions while PC players are stuck with this. Couldn't get my controller to work after trying multiple fixes including PC settings changes and DSX.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I needed the dll from here (https://github.com/elishacloud/dinputto8) to get the game to launch, but once I put this dll in the game directory, it worked fine. The great high speed fun game you remember, and I still love it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They come here, they look around, they no buy. Why nobody buy
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Assets load in weirder than the N64 original or Switch port. Hard crashed every time after I beat the second circuit. Basically, buggy unstable port of all time great game. Find it somewhere else.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →in order to work properly the "dinput.dll" file must be downloaded and put in the installation directory. for more info visit: "https://github.com/elishacloud/dinputto8/releases"
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good. Tip: You can edit the 'Sounds.map' file to enable the original sfx from N64, by making some changes at line 319: from > to sfx_pod_chop_a_combo_loop.wav > sfx_amb_wind_howling_loop.wav from: sfx_pod_chop_b_combo_loop.wav > sfx_pod_steady_hi_a_loop.wav from: sfx_pod_maw_slow_loop.wav > sfx_pod_steady_hi_b_loop.wav from: sfx_pod_varispeed_comb_loop.wav > sfx_pod_steady_lo_c_loop.wav
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is super fun, but it only ran once the first time and after that I can't get it to start up. It keeps crashing at launch. I'm done with trying to get this to work. The crashes make me not want to recommend it. But the game itself is super fun. I'm going to try the GOG edition next.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game, nostalgic as hell, but I wouldn't recommend getting this until they add controller support. Until then, stick with the original N64 version. Or use an emulator, not like there's anything stopping you.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →can't even handle opening the program. freezes, cycles through my monitors like 16 times before coming to the title screen, hope the mouse comes along for the ride too, because if not and you click, you gotta go through 16 cycles again. Unacceptable
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crashes on Load. Very upsetting. Only thing that launches is display settings. Good thing it was on sale for like nothing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game doesn't work. Tried a load of stuff to make it work, and the game just crashes every single time, or hard locks my pc and I have to force a restart.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →THE GAME CRASHES EVERY ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ TIME!!! GET THE GOG VERSION. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥, IT RUINED MY CHILDHOOD MEMORIES
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No controller support - get the Xbox or Switch version instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I cannot in good conscience recommend this to those who don't want to tinker with a system. Firstly, it is not the remaster that was pushed on Switch and Playstation a few years back, instead being the original PC release. Secondly, dgvoodoo is recommended to get the game in proper working order. Thirdly, the game is not really meant to run at an FPS that is very high, so a frame limiter is needed to get the original experience (if you can manage to get it working). IF you are willing to go…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game, but 50/50 on if you'll be able to run it. I hate you Disney.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really wanted to get back and have some fun time in that game. I remember it very fun. But reality is that it won't even start without some shenanigans.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I cant run this game at all i dont recommend buying this game even though i played it on N64 and later when it was ported to xbox. The steam version doesnt work at all and im not going to spend hours trying to get it to run smooth when i have it on XBOX and it runs buttery smooth with controller support.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Racing games that came from console with no controller support is like a hockey match with no puck.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You might need to grab a small .dll fix from the GitHub in order to run it. You can find it in the discussion tab. I could never beat the game when I was little, but I finally fulfilled my childhood dream, beat it in a few hours and also unlocked Sebulba’s podracer. It brings back so many memories.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game lives off nostalgia, and hasn't aged very well. Graphics are a bit of a muddy mess. Lots of blurring on low res texures plastered onto high resolution display outputs. Full motion video intros play in a tiny square (matching the original resolution of the game), regardless of the resolution of your display. If you bought this, you probably knew what you were getting. A no frills, PC version of the game you loved, without much else. I'll recommend it for that reason, but there's not…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not working on W11
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a low effort port. Not enhanced at all- they didn't redo the textures or up the polygon count or anything. Of course the original was a good game so it would still be worth it IF IT WORKED AT ALL. Currently the game cant start unless you download a community patch from a github page. Even then you wont be able to play it because it wont recognize your controller, even if you have steam emulate it as a keyboard. The game is completely detached from any input method.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It has far FAR too many compatibility issues to be worth the hassle. It's sad too because it was such a great game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Being able to play this again made 10 year old me happy. Its perfect just the way it is.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i love this game and i loved it since 2001 when i got a gorillaz first album and that same day my uncle gave me a CD with this game pirated and ready to install with possible viruses, and i remember being 11 years old and playing this game while gorillaz first album played in the background. controller is not supported, but it works, so it makes me happy. i feel like an 11 year old kid now. if you played this game as a kid - just buy it, play it and remind yourself on moments from your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a very good game but clearly I haven't played all of it. There is so much hidden content and levels in this game. I clearly remember from 1999 onwards how many levels there are and this takes the cake. This game constantly changes. I am Zeta from Star Wars.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My childhood game of star wars racer. Amazing, yet annoying sometimes because of the controls, or the cheating AI. I'm excited for the newer version coming out this year. A must have for SW fans.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's the same game released in 1999 for PC and N64, and a year later for Dreamcast. Pros: + Nostalgia + Good music + Smooth Gameplay + Speed feeling (like F-Zero and Wipeout) + Fair difficulty + Draw Distance much better than N64 version Cons: - Like others Steam old games, it has some problems accessing Steam Menu shortcuts while playing. - No achievements (only have in PS4/XBO versions). - No trading cards, wallpaper, or emoticons (maybe Disney issues). - Maybe can be quite short…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game itself is great but you need a patch to make it run. And still it frequently crashes Use the gog version
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game will not launch to save it's life in the modern day. pass on this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you want that sweet nostalgia from the 90s, or if you are one of those new humans who actually reads and does research and realizes that the world used to exist before you were born, going in with reasonable expectations for a game made in the previous millennium, you will certainly enjoy this! For modern standards, it takes too long to get halfway challenging, but challenging is probably not why most people who buy this, buy this. Editing to confirm that the save files will get lost if you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my all-time favourite games. My dad used to have it when I was a kid and he taught me how to play. I now have it myself and have finally managed to beat all the levels at first place save for the most difficult level in the game, Abyss in the invitational podracing circuit, in second place. I recommend this to all star wars fans and gamers alike. I love everything about the game: - the graphics - the unique controls - the levels - the difficulty I replay this game all the time. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game crashes on launch, no fix just get a emulator and pirate it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The GOAT. I can't even imagine how many hours I have in this game on the N64. I still come back to this game and play it every year, its just a ton of fun. I'm REALLY hoping Galactic Racer will be good. Do I think it will live up to this game? Absolutely not. But I hope it comes close.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's Pod Racer... loved this game as a kid. Have to do some tinkering to make the game even launch and recognize a controller, and recommend limiting FPS to 60 or even 30 (high fps affects the physics or something and you won't be able to slide or deal with the zero gravity sections otherwise), but the game is fun. Nostalgia.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game but no split screen unlike the console version, nor a mod for split screen somehow
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game does not launch. Bummer.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game won't launch without downloading some DLL of the internet. If this sounds sketchy to you as well, I wouldn't buy it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As much as I like the game this port is bad beyond belief. It requires modding to even open properly and tbh it's really not worth the trouble, just buy it on console if you have any console this is playable on because at least there it works.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had to look up a guide in the community hub to start the game, but now it runs. Some players complain about having to use a keyboard but my wired Xbox One controller works without any issues or preparation. It's a cheap third party controller that's never failed me yet. Although, if I want to pause the game during a race I still have to push the escape button on the keyboard. When I was a kid I played the Nintendo 64 version. The PC version has a few differences: Cutscenes, a soundtrack…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is hard AF, but it's also a really fun arcade racer and we still haven't gotten anything else to fill the fantasy of some good pod racing. Maybe the new Galactic Racer will be good, but this game is still pretty fun today (and shoutouts to the GOG team for putting this out with patched controller support getting it to work native with Xbox controllers).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Untrusted is a distinctive multiplayer experience developed by playuntrusted.com and published by evolvedlabs that places social interaction, deception, and reasoning at the very center of its design. Rather than relying on action-heavy mechanics or visual spectacle, the game frames itself as a cerebral contest of trust and manipulation, wrapped in a stylized hacking theme. Each match unfolds as a tense psychological exercise where players must interpret limited information, question motives,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Relic of Speed That Needs a Tune-Up STAR WARS™ Episode I Racer (Steam) Rating: 4/5 This game is, without a doubt, one of the best arcade racers ever made. It delivers an incredible sense of speed and a palpable rush as you weave through canyons and over vast deserts. For those who played the original on the N64 or PC, it’s a massive hit of nostalgia. The racing mechanics—centered on managing your repair gauge and using boost at critical moments—are timeless and make the championship mode…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Now THIS is podracing!"
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cannot recommend. It simply doesn't launch. I had extensively tried all the network and app permissions. i think it just needs a good old update. One big bother with this game is the music. The music plays for all laps. not the climactic last lap. Controls are a nightmare.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow I love this game, despite its MANY flaws. This is the most thrilling, engaging and fun racing game I've played since Burnout 3: Takedown. This game provides a sense of speed, a cool factor and a level of thrilling fun that is, in my opinion, unmatched my almost all modern racing games. The game is riddled with flaws and, despite that, I couldn't stop playing. In my one full playthrough, the game crashed over 10 times, often right as I finished a race in 1st place, meaning I'd have to redo…
