For example, infantry is much more useful. They don't die so easily and can hold their own in gunfights. Also, your units can't shoot through solid objects like in Blitzkreig. For those that haven't touched Blitzkreig, Staligrad works like this: In every mission, you're given goals to accomplish with a selected amount of units at your disposal.…

unlabelledView post →Everything you’ll need to know is covered here (except the meaning of life, I would recommend the bible for that) just skip down to what you want know! I will say in advance that I’m generally very grumpy and extremely strict when I review stuff, (I gave GTA V a bleeding 7 for crying out loud!) so it may surprise you when I say I gave this 10/10 Basically: This is one of the best games I have played all year! It does everything I could want for a fun but still amazingly realistic ww2…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent game!! The combat and dynamics are even better than the much newer Blitzkrieg 2 game. Heres what i love about this game: - USSR missions where if you retreat you are shot at by NKVD Anti-Desertion squads, NOT ONE STEP BACKWARDS COMRADS! - artillery has actual real ranges, mortars can hit targets across the map. In BK 2, mortars and artillery can barely fire longer than a few 100 feet. - infantry can ride on tanks!! I love this aspect of the game because its such as small feature…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Here's a negative review for adding a launcher with ads 19 years after release. My memories of 2005 RTS gaming seemed inviolable until that 67.7mb update. Can I explain why stuff like this should be completely excised, figuratively and literally struck with blows until it's leaking dog uh-ohs? The ONLY thing keeping most players even interested in continuing the hobby itself is the hope that one of the modern full-priced games released in the cycle will take us back to this temporal…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →From all the 1C's isometric RTS games, Stalingrad is my favorite. Gameplay wise it's still bad (that's why we don't see these Blitzkrieg engine games anymore), but you can see that the devs put a lot of effort and love into this title, which makes it stand out from the rest of 1C games. It's worth a buy, especially for that price! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=792604333 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=792614018
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an outstanding little game. Sort of a cross between COH/Faces of War and Theatre of War/Combat Mission. It's heavy on historical fact and covers the Stalingrad campaign from the summer of 1942 and the drive on the city by Army Group South, right through to the battle for the city itself. You can fight campaigns for both sides too. There is no skirmish mode and ovbiously the graphics aren't state of ther art any more. Having said that it's graphically rewarding compared to some of the…

Then I spent the afternoon filming tables and interviews, so keep a look out for a video report later this week. Saw and chatted to loads of people!

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short note: my steam play time does not represent my actual play time spent in this game. Rating: mediocre (5/10) Introduction Stalingrad is a typical "Blitzkrieg" type of RTS - you are getting limited amount of troops with that you have to fulfill certain objectives put into missions of a campaign. You do not have the ability to build a base and produce units, however the units you receive mostly get multiple tasks or actions they can perform. Gameplay & Story: 5/10 The missions have…

Steam will download the default version of stalingrad. After you've finnished the mission you can upadte it to german/russian version again! There is a bug in the steamversion! You can't finnish the 7th german mission.

unlabelledView post →This game is worth $20, let alone the $1.24 I actually paid. Probably the definitive WWII RTS. It's hard, but it's oh so satisfying when your plans work out, (or you snatch victory from the jaws of defeat). It's not about brute force. Well, it kinda is. Schwerpunkt. You concentrate forces on a narrow point in the line to achieve breakthrough. Stack armor columns in waves and maintain critical pressure on the main point of attack to achieve advantage by disrupting the enemy's rear. As Guderian…

unlabelledView post →I managed to get the game for 1,4€. It took me 9 enjoyable hours to get to the 4th mission. Money well invested. :D I had to edit one game file in order for the game to be played on native resolution on my ultrawide monitor and it looks gorgeous on it for a 2005 game! Love it's 2D art, it's explosions, massacred soldiers, authentic landscapes, etc. I really like the historical videos that are played before each mission in the campaign, ingame music is cool and for me very fitting. The game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not amazing, but certainly enjoyable and a solid addition to a stellar set of Blitzkrieg games. Didn't like the pseudo-hard-rock sound track though. Hit and run and flanking attacks work best. Easy to master but you can ramp up the difficulty as much as you need to find the right challenge. Also like other reviewers say, nice to see infantry be actually useful for a change.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very nice. I got this game on sale a while ago. Never heard of this before, just wanted to try something with the WWII theme. It was a good surprise to find that the game was so large, with 2 big campaings: one for the nazis and one for the russians. Took me many hours to finish it. I liked the RTS element and also liked that you can't produce units but you rather get reinforcements from time to time. The game is old but the graphics are still decent and the sound and music are quite adequate…

unlabelledView post →This game feels like an interactive documentary. The game is made by Russian developers and of course it has great historical accuracy and high difficulty. This is also one of the games we used to play as kids as we had access to a lot of these Russian games. It improves greatly on the classic Blitzkrieg engine (inspired by Sudden Strike) and manages to be unique, much like its cousin Cuban Missle Crisis. The soundtrack is one of my favorites with the guitar as the main instrument. The gameplay…
