Everyone else, read on! Spelunker Party is based off of Spelunker, that game some of you may regard as some ancient relic if you know of it at all with the highly regarded weakest character in video games, the spelunker. A man capable of destroying his life from simple missteps half his height that destroy his legs…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's also a problem that non-friends are allowed into friends-only rooms, but more unforgivable is that the achievements don't work properly. All of games with glitches around achievements should be removed from Steam!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Once you get past the fact that you can't fall more than 6 inches without dying it becomes fun. You get a lot for your money with this game, it's a romp, a hoot and a holler. 8/10 (some ui problems)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To be clear, this review is going to be a comparison between Spelunker World (A game for the PS4) and Spelunker Party, and is meant for people who have played a lot of Spelunker World and are interested in Spelunker Party (as I was). Item Acquisition If I had to describe Spelunker Party (SP) to someone who has played Spelunker World (SW), I would describe it as a SW sandbox. A lot of “branching path” sets of levels lead to one of the many pets in the game, giving you them for free after…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wouldn't reccomend this game if you either don't like hard games or are planning to play this alone. This game is a ton of fun and meant with friends. But it is really hard. For example if you drop off of a rope hanging above the ground (unless it's almost touching it) you die, if you barely walk to the edge or walk off and don't jump...you die! If bat poop lands on your head...guess what!?! You're right! You die! That is the purpose of Spelunker type games and it is the same with this one.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such a hard game to review. I mean I love it and it's well done for a remake. But it's also Spelunker and if you know Spelunker, you know how this game can be. At first glance you might think this is some kind of Mario run and jump kind of platformer....it's not. Spelunker is a very rigid "do it this way or suffer" kind of game. It required a lot of planning and scouting before finally trying to tackle a level. I guess that's where the fun part is. In a way it's very much a puzzle platformer…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I normally would never review a game I had only played for a couple of minutes, but this game is infuriating. I made it three minutes into the game before I rage quit (and then logged back in so I could have the 5 minutes of game time I needed to write a review). You die instantly when you walk off a high platform near a rope. To not die you have to jump onto the rope, even if you would naturally fall onto the rope just by walking off. Forget the last four decades of smooth and enjoyable…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Heavily focused around co-op and unsurprisingly the game is dead. The extremely high base price means even with a substantial discount it's expensive, and Spelunker has never been the most popular franchise. Almost every level has co-op switches which need another player to activate. I read in the only guide here that there is a pet on the second world which can be used to activate these switches. I focused on the main levels in the first world to get it as soon as possible, but when I got to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am well aware this a retail repackaging of the f2p Spelunker World, some of my judgements of the game will be based on that. A great entry into the spelunker series so long as you have people to play it with. The game is very true to entries of the past with its feel and mechanics. Nearly every stage throws something new at you to keep things fresh and challenging. Its biggest problems are lingering effects from the f2p. Let me break down some of these things. Litho-stone collection While…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's Spelunker, the legendary kusoge with niche appeal that you either love for its deliberate and precise approach to platforming or that you despise because you break your ankles and die if you fall from a height greater than one foot. This entry's a bit more accessible in terms of difficulty, though some of the levels and their respective challenges can be particularly cruel (looking at you, Ninja Suit). ... There's really not much else to say about it. Outside of the addition of a roster…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I miss spelunker world u_u
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game really isnt enjoyable and not worth it's price tag. Some mechcanics are so bad you just keep dying. like the rope mechanics are terrible. i suggest DO NOT BUY
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's a game-breaking bug on Level 1-H (Heart of the Mines) where the game will randomly freeze all visuals, but still play sound. It renders the game impossible to complete. It's a shame, because this game is quite a lot of fun otherwise. It's punishing, but fair. Once you accept its harsh rules, it has some clever level design.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved the original spelunker world, I was very sad when it was shut down. I found this game out about 2 years later, and though it might not be as good as the original I still love it very much, It is a very good game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Admit it: either the original game's PS3 HD version, the PS4 free-to-play version of this, or the two maps in Megadimension Neptunia Victory II got you into this, not the original Eighties version. In my case, it was Neptunia. Yes, the character is regarded as the weakest in video game history, but isn't this what the platformer genre is all about? The most annoying part is keeping track of everything unlocked. The game tells you which stones are missing, but not where; the general hint in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been playing Spelunker since the NES. Then Spelunker HD for PS3. And I wanted to play Spelunker World but I don't have a PS4, and was hoping there would be a port or something for PC. I finally noticed that Spelunker Party was on Steam, and I went and bought it with no hesitation. It's everything I expected it to be, and more. I think if you're new to the Spelunker franchise, the gaming mechanics may seem unfair with its one hit deaths, especially by falling 1cm (lol) and you might just…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →FUN ALONE, WAY MORE FUN WITH FRIENDS! In this review, i will talk about three of the reasons that i recommend this game : The history behind the game, the tryout and my actual gameplay. 1) The history : Nostalgia. Oh nostalgia... A lot of gamers don't know but Spelunker Party isn't the first game of this serie. In fact, i think it's the third game (Spelunker on NES, Spelunker HD on PS3 and Spelunker Party! on Steam and Nintendo Switch). I played both the three games and they were just that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A really fun and challenging platformer party game where you (and other explorers) adventure through various environments while adhering to the classic Spelunker rules of any small mistake will kill you. Loads of unlockable gear and cosmetics and multiple characters to play as (at least two can be unlocked from playing further into the game). Best played with friends/other people, but is still fun on your own if you are up for a challenge.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall- it's good but not great. Spelunker HD on the PS3 is a *much* better take on this formula- it's apparently getting a PS4 port in Japan, which will hopefully get an English release, maybe even on PC (though I get the feeling this didn't sell all that well...). Spelunker is a classic kusoge (literally translated as "sh*t game"), the kind of game where it's more of an inside joke that you either feel in on or don't. I would refute that a little bit- it's very finicky and particular (you…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love it very much, I played Spelunker back in early 90s, the eerie ghost sound is so nostalgic. I am investing on new gamepad so I can get the full enjoyment from this game, havent use gamepad before on PC gaming.

This game is a blast, especially with the online multiplayer which allows you to join other peoples game, be it your friends or people you can make your friends with your wonderfull charm and astounding wit. Now I know what youre…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A charming game best played with friends but can also be played alone. The price is a bit higher compared to other games in its genre but its well worth the price since the amount of content this game has greatly makes up for it. There are currently 120 levels and 4 zones with each level having anywhere from 1 to 5 sublevels. Each level has keys that you collect to move on to the next level along with items called litho-stones. These litho-stones are collected to finish off puzzles to earn…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is amazing. A true masterpiece of modern gamer experience in a box. If you are a fan of dying to fall damage this game is for you. There are pets and that is epic mode. I think everyone should play this game with the homies. Currently me and my boy are the ONLY 2 people who play this online and that is WACK. Would be OPPA GANGNAM STYLE if more people would play with us. DM ME.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good game to play with friends!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun and charming.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a shame online is dead and they devoloper is busy with newer versions of the game on consoles. Good game that could have been spectacular. Also, the music is addictive.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is entirely to my taste. I felt funny when I started this game. This game is lovely. Also, the character is very cute. Unfortunately, fewer players play this game. Many maps and difficulties are also significant. Up to four players can play this game together. I hope to play this game with many people.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spelunker Party is a Great game to play with friends. But.. If you're like me, you have no friends. Thats okay too though because Spelunker Party can be played alone. A lot of items require friends to get or replaying missions later on once you've unlocked a special pet. If you plan on collecting everything be prepared to complete missions 2-4 times each during later worlds.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →do you wanna watch the hottest girl play the hottest new game? No? Good then come watch me play Spelunker Party instead www.twitch.tv/lavender_fw
unlabelledView post →This was VERY clearly a phone game at one point and they chickened out. It's too hard for kids and too boring for your average adult, but holy crap I did NOT expect to like this as much as I did! Spelunker is an infamous old platformer about a cave explorer who dies from... well pretty much everything! Even falling the tiniest bit too far which you will soon find out is not far at all! It's so infamous for this design that pretty much all memory most people have of the game is memes (mostly…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game's controls are worse than Metroid on Nintendo. It feels like the game was developed by children. A rare flop for Squenix.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Spelunker video game series is such a hidden gem. Really enjoying Spelunker Party lately
unlabelledView post →It´s really fun to play by yourself and with friends. I have played it alot on Nintendo Switch and now I have it on Steam. It´s a really good game. :) I recommend you to buy it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this as a kid and it gives me a real nostalgia boner to revisit it. The pricing i find to be a bit much as it was free when i played it when i was younger, but the coop feature is a lot of fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do you like hard games? like really nearly "80s" hard? Ohhhhhhh boy. I have some good memories if i hear the name "Spelunker". Im one of the people who played the original versions back on the C64 and Atari which less people know about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEqHov8BwwI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-GKahk7fsE To be fair, before you think something weird now, most remakes from Spelunker (even this one) is more or less "based" on the NES version. It looks very nice BUT the look of…

unlabelledView post →Also quickly switched to Spelunker Party which was my first intro to the series… It’s a former F2P game so the things that would’ve been microtransactions are now unlockables, like this catte who will hang around or sit down on your head being very helpful when you’re trying to climb

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love Spelunker Party.. It may not be an everyone kind of game but it's a game for everyone if that makes sense. I couldn't imagine not liking it! Swing on vines.. run from rocks.. all kinds of good things inside this game as you're looking for treasure!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had originally recommended this game, but after some time, I can't say I do. And not because of the typical "OOOOH GAME TOO HARD LET ME GO BACK TO BARNEY HIDE AND SEEK ADVENTURE" baby-rage Spelunker games typically receive -- if anything, this one's EASIER. It's just... this game isn't that GOOD compared to Spelunker HD. The game is HEAVILY skewed towards multiplayer, with a LOT of the collectibles locked behind said multiplayer mode. This is already an issue in my opinion, as Spelunker HD…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this game. It's definitely easier than Spelunker HD, which is what I wanted as difficulty. But I think it's hard enough for me to like playing it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic game! Even funnier to play on coop! (I would've wished a non-splitscreen gameplay on online coop tho)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spelunker is a great multiplayer game that sadly doesn't get the attention it deserves. Explore caves deeper and deeper as you progress through the levels. Each world introduce new mechanics that make the game more difficult and more complex. Collect items and equipment as you level up, and make your ultimate spelunker!! Very recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's kind of two layers to this game: are you willing to put up with the quirks of the Spelunker franchise? And, if so, how good is the game on its own? Like preceding Spelunker games, your character is ridiculously fragile. You can't survive small falls, nearly everything can kill you -- including bat droppings. I would argue this release is a bit more forgiving with the jumps than I recall Spelunker HD (on PS3) being, but it's still a "thing". If you've not experienced this before, it's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →love to have a cheeky splarty with the boys
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just as good as Spelunker World was. If only they'd bring back the events and special outfits to this game then Party! would be perfect.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its Spelunker World on the PS4 a super cute expanded remake/sequel of the NES version of Spelunker. Except unlike World it removes all the Free to Play nonsense or at least most of it making for a much more enjoyable time. An excellent platform adventure where you explore a series of caverns and ruins with extremely limited amounts of defensive and offensive equipment plus an ever decreasing air gauge.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty sure I died writing this review.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spelunker Party isn’t the best game in the Spelunker series (that title goes to the PS3 game Spelunker HD), but it serves as a decent entry point for newcomers. While I’m not quite a fan of the changes Tozai made to the series’ classic structure (gone are the lengthy gauntlet levels, now replaced by shorter levels and protective gear for stage hazards), Spelunker’s infamous platforming conventions - fall damage, ho! - are is still enjoyable here, with the shorter levels and new gear system…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sometimes you buy games for $10.00 and they are crap. Sometimes you buy games for $1.00 and they are a bargain. The fact that you never truly know what you are getting when a game like this is not cheap is always a gamble. Well, let me tell you that the chips are firmly stacked in your favour. I am totally addicted. This little treasure is worth every cent. It's a fun game. It's a collect-a-thon. It's a completionists nightmare. It's currently the best platform game I have in my…
