60 of 292 · most liked firstSoulstice is yet another disappointment in the world of stylish action You know when I first started playing I thought: “This is it a great stylish action” but that was a bait. Over time it became clear that it's not all rainbows and sunshine. NOT at all I’ll start with the shortest part of this rant the story. It’s as simple as it gets the world is dying, we must save it for a stylish action it’s acceptable. My problem is different the characters. They are as uncharismatic and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The camera is terrible and causes motion sickness. There is no leveldesign, it's a tube with invisible walls. The combat is spam light attack button and dodge button. Constantly repeating dialogue lines. Camera is the worst issue. Combos are weird and basically useless. press attack twice, then pause then press attack three times. There is no time to pause because that gives the enemy an opening for attack. Upgrades seem grindy and pointless. No, this is a bad game trying to convince you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a long time fan of Claymore, Berserk and Devil May Cry, i can see the strong artistic inspirations in the game. This, is a work of art, it is the closest thing there is to a Claymore hack n slash videogame with AA or AAA production quality level. The graphics are great, the animations are dynamic, everything feels cool as ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hell, the music is good.... but GRAPHICS-> 9/10 ART DIRECTION -> 10/10 MUSIC -> 8/10 GAMEPLAY -> 4/10 Everything about this game is just great, except the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommended with a "But..." Get this on sale, and I think it's worth it. The story is actually interesting, the combat is tight, though it does take some getting used to. The characters are well written, well voiced and well designed (think Claymore). I've seen some complaints regarding the environments (saying it's all same-y), and it is all same-y. You're essentially exploring a huge castle, no different than you were in DMC1. I liked it; thought the environments and map designs were cool,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Where should I begin with this game?! I think I'll start with what I liked. (It's not much) Pros - Bria & Lute are innovative characters. --------------- - The voice acting was very good for everyone. --------------- - The story itself intrigued me a bit, so I played through it. --------------- Unfortunately I have nothing more good to say. Con - The graphics are good, but the effects are not. ---------------- - There are very few enemy types. (That in itself wouldn't be a problem if you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is like if Berserk, Claymore and Devil May Cry had a child, it wears its influences on its sleeve while doing enough original things to stand on its own, so even if you're not familiar with Berserk or Claymore you'll enjoy it if you like dark fantasy or hack and slash games. It makes you wonder why neither Berserk nor Claymore had a good game to this day when the idea is just this obvious, just make it a good hack and slash. The game is great and all of its shortcomings are minor…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →8.5/10 Soulstice is a great game. If you like Devil May Cry, Bayonetta and the like, you'll most likely enjoy this one too. At first, combat feels incomplete , maybe even clunky. It's not untill you get a couple of upgrades that the game starts clicking (at least for me it did). Also bear in mind that there aren't a lot of combos but you do get a bunch of weapons and other things I'd rather not spoil. Soulstice also implements some great ideas such as tying special attacks to the "combo…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What could have been a good game is ruined by the way the camera works. What should be an easy challenge is rendered ridiculously difficult because of the way the camera and controls work against each other. The main character will dance around a target rather than hit them because you cannot align them to actually face them and you might as well not even try to jump to a precise target. Its worse than bad game design, its malice and the designers should be punished accordingly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An underrated Hack n Slash! The Italian made Soulstice is no DMC or Bayonetta, but it is not half bad either. With a frenetic flything system, the game’s tempo and rhythm is great, especially when combined with a good variety of enemies. Story wise the game is alright; the lore may be a tad confusing but the two sister protagonists grew on me, as well as the other side characters and nemesis. What I really liked was the location of Ilden; it is really cool to have the whole adventure set in a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i just finished the game and it was good , at the start of the game story was not good but as game goes on the story got really good and liked the ending thats it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So there's this Italian game called Soulstice that looks like a mix of the first DMC and Bayo with a heavy Claymore feel Gameplay video against a boss who has a battle quip "you are such an easy target!" and then misses the character for the whole combo. A PS2-like game in hopefully a positive way
unlabelledView post →Soulstice is your typical hack and slash with heavy influences, and it may bring back memories of other titles. This game is: -50% Devil May Cry (Original Trilogy) -40% Darksiders (Part 1, 2 and 3) -10% God of War (Original Trilogy) I am not comparing in the sense of "this game is as great as those". The comparison is for anyone who reads this so they get the gist of it. Soulstice is fun and at times can be a bit challenging. ***Spoliers*** One thing I really like about this game is the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool dark fantasy setting with religeous orders and stuff, but very upsetting, disapointing even, everything else. Cons: - Damage-sponge enemies and bosses (many of them are not even challenging tho). - Non-impactful combat in total with weapons that dont feel necessary, you can just spam basic attacks on starting hammer or sword. - Questionable combat mechanic with two different auras for damaging two types of enemies. - Some enemies are just unnecessary - two types of blue ghost or two types…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Seriously don't even waste your money. Got this in a fanatical bundle and wish I could refund it. Constant micro stuttering, various camera issues, and combat is samey throughout. Truly I hope you read this before you buy. Not worth the price, let alone the deluxe edition as it really is jut a rip off.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was enjoying this came buy the camera ruins it. I'm fighting a boss and the camera glues me too his so i can't dodge away. probably giving up now after only 6 hours. another game to gather dust and my distain
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Incredibly boring and dry. It gains inspiration from Berserk, Bayonetta and God Of War... But it somehow mixes all of these into a mound of boring boredom. When you play Bayonetta or GOW, you get a grasp on the attitude and character of the protagonist within minutes through just their actions alone- but the protagonist of this game is just hollow. This whole game lacks any distinction or personality. Boring.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I went back and forth on this. Game is VERY difficult while you are underpowered, camera fights you and you can't see half the enemies, big problem. I almost rage quit a couple of times. (Played on Knight with 2 higher difficulties to unlock. Tempted to lower difficulty but I'm stubborn) Game is a GoW meets DMC, fun time. It truly starts to shine once you unlock all of your abilites and you are able to spectacularly deal with all of your foes. The mob encounters are much more difficult then…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Man, I have mixed feelings about this game, but not regarding my enjoyment of the game; I finished it and I really liked it, it was really fun. I just don't know how I can recommend it because the game has many really amazing elements, but just as many really annoying parts that not many people can accept playing through. The best parts of the game are the story and the characters, and that is saying a lot because the main story is pretty generic, but man, the presentation of said story is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm only about three hours into this game, but Soulstice is very cool You play as a bitchy girl knight and her sweet shade sister that have some gnarly synergy and it feels very much FFVI by way of Bayonetta with a bit of Dragon Age: Origins calamity It's $3.99 rn

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Creature design and story are great, although it is clearly meant to be part 1 of 3 Gameplay does not reach the levels of DMC orAstral Chain, but it is reasoably close. The game does overstay it's welcome, and animations are sometimes rather stiff, like it was 10years older. Overall a solid 7/10 title.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →my game Summer Soulstice along side so many other amazing games and creators' work. Get it all for a good cause!
unlabelledView post →I tried, man. I thought the reviews about the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ camera were exaggerated. Naw. In a game where the frame rate can be locked to either 30/60 or unlimited, and you can't even break 20fps on all low settings? What are you DOING? Especially in an isometric hack and slash where the button timing is everything for the highest score. This blows, man. And I was kinda looking forward to playing this.....
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel really bad for giving it a negative review, because I was having quite the fun up until the mid-game section. Then the design of almost all encounters, challenges and bosses becomes really bad. As if the studio fired the previous designer and hired a new one. My main problems are the camera, which is really bad even for traversal purposes, the unblockable attacks, to which you have a single frame of reaction time to dodge them. and off-screen attacks that will stagger you. The…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you've read the manga Claymore, this is pretty much what that would look as a game. The game goes for a little too long, yet it ends super quickly. But other than that, everything about it is great.

unlabelledView post →♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. Camera is horrible. You have 6 weapons but none can bring an enemy to you but they decided to make a kill mobs in a circle challenge. For achievements you have to beat the game 5 times. Non of those runs were fun because when you go demon trigger both of the variants you don't have lute to block attacks. So you do damage but everything offscreen hits you to interrupt your combo. Harpies are only meant to interrupt you offscreen. You can't take the game slow because it pushes you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good game hurt by some stupid design choices and the most insane stuttering possible that they could have fixed easily (just a toggle inn the engine settings).
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent game, but it gets really repetitive really fast, as well as having mediocre performance. I know my rig isn't a beast, but I should definitely be able to run this game at 60 fps with medium settings, which the game can not. Not a bad game to get for a few bucks on sale, but there are much better options out there.

unlabelledView post →Decent ideas, budget execution. It starts out well enough, but its idea of difficulty scaling is suspect, as it starts throwing too many damage sponge enemies and relies heavily on color-coded gimmicks. Encounters lose their flow because of this, something that is severely worsened by the atrocious camera. The game has fixed camera for exploration and free camera for combat and I'm pretty sure it should be the other way around, because the last thing I want during combat is taking my thumb off…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got this on sale for 4 dollars. I am regretting it because the combat is poorly thought out. The 2 color switches isn't terrible, but adds to an extra amount of BS with a lot of enemies already on the screen. Off screen projectiles do give a subtle warning, but having off screen projectiles is typically a bad design to begin with. The Devil Trigger like mode is stupid because it pretty much goes away if you are tapped, so combine with off screen hits coming at you and possibly having something…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →7/10 Pretty good for a AA game, but with some flaws. only gripes: Fixed camera view on Chapter 21, makes the timed platforming artificaily challenging and not a pleasant exprerience. Areas look to samey because of the colors most are greys and blues, stone and snow. Some variations would be nice

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Surprisingly solid game, didn't expect much from an indie character action game but I have to admit I'm pleasantly surprised, it being a massive love letter to Claymore helps too. Game wears its inspirations on its sleeve proudly, and whilst I wasn't fully sold on some aspects (mostly the DmC:Devil May Cry esq colour coding, I do think its handled better here than the previously mentioned game, overall a polished feeling game, kick ass visuals, and a fun albeit subuded OST to go along with.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While it has nice basic foundations, it goes so far up its own ass with gimmicks it just stops being fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A boss fight in Soulstice turns off your dodge, jump and parry. Fuck this game
unlabelledView post →Giving this game a "don't recommend" hurts but is unfortunately the right thing to do. The game looks really good and has found its art style and aesthetic. It's an obvious DMC/Bayonetta clone, but one of the best on the market still. Surprisingly, the quality of the animations, area, and character design is very high for this kind of game (since it's somewhat indie). But I can't really pinpoint where this comes from... something is just missing. Ironically, for a game about souls, ghosts, and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Xbox360 game I never got to play. It's very obvious it shares commonality with games like DMC and Darksiders. It didn't hold my attention enough to get anywhere significant in the game. I just don't care for games like this anymore. It's not a bad game, repetitive for sure, but not bad
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very berserk inspired, ive always hated fixed camera games but this ones good enough that ill keep playing, my only issue is its way to easy (oh and the horribly made parkour) but apart from that its great
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game just isn't it. 90% of the game looks like the same drab grey castle, I swear I walked over the same ramparts and into the same castle room 10 times in the 4 chapters before I dropped this game. Platforming is awful. "Puzzles" are bad. Combat is watered down DMC/Bayonetta. Music is fine. Long pointless cutscene to start, into very overdone "look, we're SOOO edgy and cool" intro, however I will admit shattering the glass at the beginning was pretty sick, and the first chapter of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hemmed and hawed for a while in getting this game, but eventually I did and I'm happy for it (so far). If you were like me and had doubts if this game didn't have style, let me say that it really does have that x-factor with a few caveats. First: it takes a bit until you get to the point where it truly rewards you with gameplay for getting a high rank. Tying the special attacks and the Devil Trigger with the requirement of having an S-rank is personally a masterstroke. Second: the movement…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A beautiful setting, not a bad start. But the fixed camera ruins everything. I honestly don't understand these decisions. It would be fine if the budget was really tight and they wanted to save money, but they allow for a bit of free rotation in combat, and the levels are quite well-designed. So I didn't see a huge need for this solution. Maybe if the developers release a patch or an option to remove the fixed camera position (even at the expense of controls), then I'll change my mind and enjoy…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I fundamentally dislike the design choice for the combat in this game. It feels like it's trying to emulate dmc and bayonetta, but misses the speed of both games. The issue is how you counter moves with a freeze, the enemy should be staggered not free to start moving at a random time when they unfreeze. There is also mission length, each mission is to long, quick challenges finished by boss fights is more or less the correct format for this game style. Missions should take about 20 minutes. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Developers, do not do this with the camera It does not increase immersion or enhance progression Its like some weirdo is holding your head and forcing you to look in directions, often the wrong one Will reattempt when my annoyance decreases Thank you for the cinematic skip button, haven't yet but not a playstation cutscene heavy game fan
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →44 Minutes into the Game my ADHD is ringing inside my Head... 1st: The Intro is blabbing for 5 Minutes or so... Dev's if I want to play an Text Adventure or a Visual Novel... i buy one... SHOW Things not explain it... endlessly. 2nd: The optimisation of the Unreal Engine is abysmal. Frame-rate fluctuate between 20 - 60 FPS all the time, then there are micro stutters every 5 to 10 Seconds. The Bayonetta Showcase Battle at the start of the game was most of the time under 20 FPS plus the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a solid 5/10. Only buy it heavily discounted 'cause who knows if you'll finish it. Only like 9% of people have beaten the game (steam achievements). Game starts out good, but it overstays its welcome and should've been shorter. Developers went with 17 hours (for example) of slop rather than 9 hours of quality game design. Enemies get more annoying as you progress and not in a hard way, but annoying and unfun. I hope you like sewer levels because that's like 90% of the game. The…

unlabelledView post →Started off with some general old school DMC1 charm with a camera real similar to DMC/RE/Onimusha. It sadly devolves into just inflated HP elite mobs with tedious boss designs using the red and blue fields you need to swap between mid combat. They do have a growing variety of mobs but then the only real difference between them is how much HP they have making it take you like 3-4 minutes to kill like 3 elites. This turns the game into just a boring slogfest even on the lowest difficulty. If mods…

Beside that it's just a 4/10 game ok to play I guess(5 for average, -1 for brainless story and lines)
